Bob,
I was over at TWOP, reading through Couch Baron's last season two recap, "Bewitched, Bebothered, and Bewildered", and when I got to the end I found this exchange:
Quote:
Demian: Sigh. I wish Charmed could do a love-spell episode like that.
Couch Baron: Well, if it's any consolation, the current season of Charmed, even with its recent lameness, has been better than the current season of Buffy.
Demian: That's true. You know that's a sign of the apocalypse, right?
Couch Baron: So I guess we're going to hell, then?
Demian: I'll save you a seat in the TWoP staff section.
The TWOP folks have always been notoriously unkind to Charmed (especially its recapper, Demian). So it says a lot about how truly awful Buffy has become when even they are acknowledging that Charmed is better. Even if they do consider it a sign of the Apocalypse.

How ironic that Joss used to complain about Charmed writers stealing ideas from him, and now they have the more original show.
Personally, I'm not a fan of Charmed, but you have to admire it's ability to not only improve on it ratings by bringing in new viewers, but also survive when cast members decide to leave. That's fairly difficult for any show (especially a sci-fi/fantasy one) to do, and it's something which neither Buffy or Angel have managed to accomplish.
