The unveiling of Tara's headstone....

The unveiling of Tara's headstone....

Postby frumpycat » Mon Apr 28, 2003 10:23 pm

Some people have followed the Jewish tradition of unveiling the tombstone of a loved one after a year. They set up a space for Tara:

"The Kaddish (Jewish prayer for the dead) is a prayer for peace between nations, between individuals, and peace of mind.

As a Jew, Willow would recite the Kaddish for Tara (her soulmate) three times a day over the past year. On this the first anniversary of Tara's death (Yahrzeit), Willow would say the Kaddish at Tara's grave, and "unveil" Tara's headstone. In so doing, she would release Tara's soul, (which remains earth bound for the year of mourning) to heaven."

It's really sweet and heart rending.... :sob

I'm sure as a Jew Willow would indeed do all of those things. Unfortunately, as a pod person NotWillow is too busy screwing around with Not So Special K to even notice the anniversary let alone actually mourn.

I thought the unveiling story was really well done.

Here's the address I had:

The guestbook was good to read as well.

The story is beautiful, and although their is a small sliver of humour in it, it comes from Anya and is completely in character, as indeed they all are here.

I signed the guestbook, something I urge all the Kittens to do. For al my hatred of ME and what they did, I did not put that into my message. Let us all write positive messages about Tara and how we miss her. This is her day & our day to mourn her. Let us do it with dignity and pride.

It's a beautiful tribute to Tara a character forgotten by ME but not by us and many others out there.

Buffy and the minivan was a complete riot!! This coming from a Jewish girl. It was too funny to be offensive, and Anya telling everyone what was rude was priceless. Great scene, and took advantage of the emailing links :)

Ya'll aren't going to believe this, but just for giggles and grins, I put in the url www.tara.com., just to see what would come up (also 'cause I'm still pissed about Mutant Enema and their little "Cassie" site).

Well, just let me say it looks like a legit site, and the timing of the headstone is wonderfully ironic.

Anyhoo, for those of you who can't follow the link, it appears to be a site for Yiddish music.

Who woulda thunk?

Mods, feel free to move or delete.

Edited to add that the above url apprears under JEWISHMUSIC.COM as Tara Productions.

I thought the site and tribute was very well done and everyone should check it out. What I like most about the story is that the Scoobies all feel something for Willow and in their way do support her, especially Anya. Now that has been needed for quite some time. Excellent job.

The story is so touching that I still have tears in my eyes from reading it. It’s nice to see that there are people who remember what has been taken from us and who can movingly express the love between Willow and Tara - a love that survives even beyond death.

Tasteful and respectful. I signed the Guestbook, and happily added a translated Gaelic blessing for Tara Maclay. May Danu call her home.

Very nice site and tribute - thanks to whoever e-mailed me the invitation. I read all the comments in the Guestbook before I added my own.
