Okay, there's a song by Tim McGraw entitled Don't Take The Girl. I was sitting here listening to it on repeat, and suddenly and randomly got inspired. I rewrote the thing to be about Willow and Tara. Just a warning, the first verse is incredibly lame. And yes, 'old woman Chase' is a dig on Cordelia and how unpleasant her mother must have been.
Title: Don't Take The Girl
Author: Naeryn, aka Megan
Rating: PG, really.
Disclaimer: Don't own it. Any of it. I swear.
Notes: I wrote this five minutes ago, meaning 3:40 am. So any suckage is totally not my fault. Blame Tim McGraw. A lot of the lines weren't changed, 'cause they rock just the way they are. I just made it dykey. Also, the one line doesn't rhyme. Mostly because I couldn't for the life of me figure out what would.
Willow’s momma was taking her shopping
When she was eight years old
A little girl came through the front gate
What a sight to behold
Her mom looked down and smiled
Said ‘we can’t leave her behind
Girl, I know you don’t want her to go but
Someday you’ll change your mind’
And Willow said
Take Xander’s momma, take Buffy’s mother, take old woman Chase
Take anybody that you want as long as she don’t go
Take any mom in the world
Momma please don’t take the girl
Same old redhead
Same sweet blonde
Ten years down the road
She held her tight and kissed her lips
In front of the picture show
Stranger came and pulled a gun
Grabbed her by the arm
Said if you do what I tell you to
There won’t be any harm
And Willow said
Take my money, take my wallet, take my credit cards
Here’s a locket my grandma gave me, here’s the key to my car
Mister, give it a whirl
But please don’t take the girl
Same old redhead
Same sweet blonde
Five years down the road
There’s going to be a little one and
She says ‘it’s time to go’
Doctor says ‘the baby’s fine but you’ll have to leave
‘Cause his momma’s fading fast’ and
Willow hit her knees, and there she prayed
Take the very breath you gave me
Take the heart from my chest
I’ll gladly take her place if you’ll let me
Make this my last request
Take me out of this world
Goddess, please don’t take the girl
Willow’s momma was taking her shopping
When she was eight years old…
ORIGINAL SONG:
Johnny’s daddy was taking him fishing
When he was eight years old
A little girl came through the front gate
Holding a fishing pole
His dad looked down and smiled
Said we can’t leave her behind
Son I know you don’t want her to go but
Someday you’ll change your mind
And Johnny said
Take Jimmy Johnson, take Tommy Thompson, take my best friend Bo
Take anybody that you want as long as she don’t go
Take any boy in the world
Daddy please don’t take the girl
Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Ten years down the road
He held her tight and kissed her lips
In front of the picture show
Stranger came and pulled a gun
Grabbed her by the arm
Said if you do what I tell you to
There won’t be any harm
And Johnny said
Take my money, take my wallet, take my credit cards
Here’s the watch that my grandpa gave me, here’s the key to my car
Mister give it a whirl
But please don’t take the girl
Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Five years down the road
There’s going to be a little one and
She says it’s time to go
Doctor says the baby’s fine but you’ll have to leave
’Cause his momma’s fading fast and
Johnny hit his knees and there he prayed
Take the very breath you gave me
Take the heart from my chest
I’ll gladly take her place if you’ll let me
Make this my last request
Take me out of this world
God, please don’t take the girl
Johnny’s daddy
Was taking him fishing
When he was eight years old
(Edited 'cause it's 3:50 am and I can't spell before 5.)
I've never heard that song, but I'm downloading it now. Cute little parody you wrote, it would be interesting if you wrote a fic (as in prose) with that setting. I know I'd love to read it.
