It's A…!
By: Dreiser
They stared at the room for a long and endless moment. Then they stared at the room some more. In fact, they just kept staring at the room for quite some time.
Until Tara decided to speak, that is.
"It's wrecked, isn't it?" Tara asked, looking at Willow.
"Yep," Willow nodded her head. "Really wrecked."
Tara turned and went back to staring at the wreck that was her room. Everything she owned was in here. Everything.
That might explain what she was wearing right now. Noticing Willow staring at her for probably the ninetieth time that day, Tara sighed. "Yes?" she asked.
"Uhm… Tara…" Willow began very slowly, trying to choose her words carefully. "How long do you plan on wearing that outfit? I mean, I know all your clothes are gone because of the wrecked room and my debacle with the dryer and shrinking them but still, I can loan you some stuff or buy you some at least."
"No, I rather wear this until I can get clothes later today," Tara said firmly. She tugged on the red cape and adjusted her blue tights. "I own it."
"Yeah, but it's an old Halloween costume," said Willow. She looked strangely at Tara and tried to ignore for the ninety seventh time that day the urge to pounce on her.
It was strange, but Willow really liked Tara in spandex. Well, okay, so maybe it wasn't all that strange.
For as long as Willow could remember she'd had this horrible crush on Supergirl. She blamed it all on Xander and his comic book collection. When they were younger and she was over at his house, they'd spend hours reading and discussing the comics. Out of all the characters in them her favorite was Supergirl. At the time she thought it was because she was a strong female heroine.
Now Willow thought it was just because she was hot. Really, really, really hot. Staring at Tara for the ninety eighth time that day, Willow shifted from foot to foot, trying to ignore yet another impulse to pounce.
"I like this costume," Tara replied, swooping the cape around her as she went about preparing the ceremony for the spell that would repair her room. "It's comfortable."
Shivering at this, Willow went a little green with envy and wished she was the blue spandex Tara was wearing. As she was contemplating this, Tara looked up at her and said, "Ready for the spell?"
"Huh? Yeah!" Willow jumped to attention, hurrying over to Tara and joining her around the makeshift circle.
Holding hands and closing their eyes, they went through the ritualistic chant they'd found. All with Willow trying her very best to block the image of Tara dressed up like Supergirl from her overactive imagination.
Looking around, Tara beamed widely. Everything was back to how it was supposed to be. Except…
"Why are my walls green?" Tara frowned.
"Uhm…" Willow looked around nervously. The walls couldn't have turned green because she was thinking of how she was jealous of Tara's costume, could they? She formed a sheepish smile and said, "I don't know!"
Narrowing her blue eyes, Tara said slowly, "Willow."
"What?" Willow backed away, thumping into the nearby newly repaired dresser. Tara approached her with an easy smile that was somehow dangerous and sexy. Especially with her in that costume. "What what?"
"Why are they green?" Tara asked again, leaning close to Willow so they were a breath apart.
"Well, I don't want to shine my own apple," Willow laughed very nervously now.
Tara frowned again and repeated, "Shine your own apple? Willow, what are you talking about?"
"I didn't do it on purpose!" Willow squeaked, turning red and trying her level best to not look at Tara's chest which was surrounded in lovely blue spandex. Oh god, why did she think of that? Now she was picturing it.
"What's wrong?" asked Tara with actual concern. She hadn't seen Willow this nervous in quite some time.
"Nothing! Nothing is wrong!" exclaimed Willow. Her eyes were now closed and she was picturing a series of unappealing things that included Angel in a bikini.
She felt soft hands cup her face and opening her eyes, Willow stared at Tara who smiled gently. "Come on," she murmured. "You can tell me, whatever it is."
"Okay…" Willow said, her nervousness reaching a point where she was sure butterflies would destroy her stomach.
This was it. She was finally going to do it. At long last she would reveal her most embarrassing secret. Her odd and forbidden crush on Supergirl.
"IthinkyoulookreallysexyinthatcostumeanddidyouknowI havehadacrushonSupergirlsinceIwaseleven?" Willow said hurriedly without taking a breath.
A moment of absolute silence passed then Tara blinked before she formed a wide smile. "Willow," she said with quiet humor as she pushed back some stray strands of red hair. "Want to know something?"
"What?" Willow swallowed the lump in her throat.
"I've always liked Batgirl myself," Tara confessed, giving a mischievous smile.
Returning the smile and experiencing a huge wave of relief, Willow replied, "I always thought they were… you know… in the cartoon series."
"Me too," Tara murmured, leaning close to capture Willow's lips in a kiss. "Me too."
Thus, the idea of playing dress up came to light for the young couple. Fairly strange dress up at that.
