Chapter Six: Witch-y Soup Part1
It had been almost two hours since Tara had first learned about Willow’s small secret, now knowing the blond felt closer than she ever had to anyone other than her mother. Just as Willow had said, she had taken Tara to a place that she would be ok at, a safe place other than her home. "So you have been practicing since you were seventeen?" She wanted the conversation to go on, she wanted to be able to talk about the things that she was interested in. Compared to her past relationships that were based on the other girl just wanting Tara to get her out of a homework jam, or the ‘It was a phase.’ Type.
"Uh huh, I started when I found out that Ms. Calendar was a techno pagan. After she died I searched her work for a cure for Buffy’s friend Angel. She was researching this spell to save him, along with the rest of the world." She spoke candidly, trying to keep out the scary details that Angel was a vampire with a soul.
"So that started your interest?"
"Yep, and well all the books Giles had."
"Oh." She let all the new information soak in, trying to commit it to memory.
"So how long have you been a witch?"
"I started when I was really young. My mother was a very powerful witch. I learned most of the craft from her." She smiled softly and watched Willow intently.
"So what are some of the spells that you have tried?" Wanting to know more the red head pressed on with her questions.
"Umm, well I have done the basics. Levitation, glamour’s, umm, most of the elemental things."
"Neat! I have done a few spells."
"Which ones?"
Lifting a brow and thinking back to the ones she had tried she couldn’t believe how bad they usually came out. "Well I have tried the one for Angel, umm I have done levitation. Then there was this one time that I accidentally blew out the power on my whole block." She sighed and then took a breath in to continue. "Mostly they just come out like soup."
"Oh, well you aren’t the only chef here, the last one I tried, which I normally don’t have an issue with, well this one was more of a difficult incantation, I tried to rid the world of shrimp, well more like my local super market." She smiled. "The result was, we did run out of shrimp, but they changed into flowers." She chuckled to her self. "You know the old saying, A rose wouldn’t smell any sweeter by another name? Well these were uhh, kinda fishy."
"Holy schmolie, you turned all the shrimp into shrimp shaped roses?"
"Kinda they were roses, but they just smelled fishy."
Willow laughed, surprised by the connection they shared with the soup-y spells. Taking a glance around Willow looked back over to Tara and smiled. "It’s kinda hot here."
"Yeah we get insanely hot summers, not always at night though. Did you want to go back up to the room?"
Willow looked up the hotel windows with all the little balcony’s, her eyes squinting in thought and then back to Tara. "I had a better idea."
"A better idea?" She asked curiously.
"Uh huh."
"What kind of idea?"
Standing from the plastic lounge chair Willow smiled. "Swimming."
"But Will, we don’t have our swim suits."
Taking a look around, Willow noted the time and the lack of population of the hotel. She continued to survey the surroundings, checking every inch visually. Now sure that everything was kosher and safe as daisy’s she looked back to Tara with a glint in her eye.
"Oh no, no, no, no. Not me Nuh uh, no way, no how." Tara raised a brow and crossed her arms in protest.
Willow smiled. "Aww Tara, I would never." She slowly walked over to the taller blond and pulled her into a kiss, taking her time to get to know Tara’s lips again, she let the soft full lips melt into hers. Just as Tara was fully trusting her Willow made a full and mighty tug, causing the two to loose balance and stumble off the edge and into the pool.
Bouncing up from the depth Tara spattered and coughed. "Not funny." She said quickly before dipping down again. Coming back up she took another deep breath of glorious wonderful air. Looking like a cat that accidentally fell into a bubble bath she dog paddled to the edge that was no more than two feet away. Willow’s eyes grew at the site she hadn’t realized that Tara was not of the fish variety and quickly swam over to her. "Tara, I’m so sorry I didn’t know, If I had, and I, and I’m sorry." She tried to sooth her mistake and let a hand touch the blonds’ back. "Really I’m sorry I didn’t know."
Looking back to the now drenched red head, Tara saw the sadness in Willow’s eyes. ‘ She is so in for it.’ Tara planned a way to get the sneak back and she thought it was the best of all her plans yet. "W-Willow, I can’t swim."
"I’m so sorry Tara." Willow tried to apologize.
Seeing her opportunity Tara batted a tirade of water at her unsuspecting victim dousing her even more so. Willow battled through the splashes and grabbed her vixen. Tara smiled and wrapped her legs around the woman that she was falling deeply for. "Promise I won’t drowned?"
"I promise." Willow leaned in and captured the those full lips one more time and paddled herself and Tara to the shallow end, making sure she was in a safe area if her legs were to tire.
With her legs securely around the beautiful red heads waist Tara secured her arms around Willow’s neck doubling her safe feelings. Both girls were completely in grossed in the other, just the thought of being near one another sent each into warm shivers.
Finding her hands not wanting to cut the water to keep afloat Willow eased over to the edge of the pool, her legs now supporting herself and Tara, The red head had a firm hold of her footing and wedged the vivacious blond between the cement wall and herself.
"Willow." Tara pulled away in much need of air.
"Yes." Soft words escaping the now exhausted lungs.
"How come you picked me out of the whole crowd that was at the bar?"
Willow smiled and looked deeply into the blue questioning orbs. "Because, when I saw you, it was as if no one else in the world existed." Kissing her forehead softly the red head moved some of the water around with her hands.
"But there were so many, what made me stand out." Still unsure Tara persisted.
"Have you seen you?" Willow smiled deeply.
"Well yes, but I mean. I’ve never had anyone look at me this way. Never before."
"Never? Wowza! Your gorgeous Tara, I don’t think anyone on this planet is as lucky as I am tonight."
"Tonight?"
"Well yeah, to be with you tonight, or any night, I don’t think anyone could be as lucky as I am."
With a sweet half grin Tara couldn’t help but feel her heart grow inside her chest. "I think I’m the lucky one."
"Oh piffle, neither of us are going to win on telling the other how lucky we each are, how about we just agree." Once again a smile returned to Willow’s lips.
"What are we agreeing on?"
"That I win!" Willow quickly captured Tara’s lips so there was no protest.
