Chapter Twelve: Zanarkand Ruins



After telling the others what they had been told, Mizu and Shinra began checking any and all fiends, and people with power. Willow and Buffy had helped Tara get into her diving suit and waited. Dawn flew over the underwater ruins and hovered as Buffy, Willow, and Tara jumped out. Watching them dive she sat the ship down on the firm ground close to the Mt. Gagazet path to wait.



Being alert for water fiends Willow opened the door leading inside the ruins, and was surprised. The inside was dry; a softly golwing blue magic shield covered the dome allowing no water to enter. Tara took off her diving gear and looked around. The walkways had collapsed, there were large chunks of the walls lying on the floor, and pillars were starting to fall apart.



They could see the ocean through the large cracks, and saw several water fiends swim by. Not knowing how long the dome would stand, or how long the shield would stay up, they hurriedly climbed over the rubble, and into the trial room.



The room was much the same, except for the cracks in the wall, and the elevator to the lower floor was gone. Buffy mixed a flare and tossed it down the hole, it hit the ground and lit up the lower room.



Grabbing the rope out of her pack, Willow tied it to one of the sturdier pillars and slid down. Touching the bottom she drew her sword, and turned. The only thing down there was the powerless Aeon statue of Lord Zaon. Tara slid down and drew her pistols, as they waited on Buffy. Willow took the lead after Buffy had landed, and walked through the door into the next room.



A Sahagin swiped at Willow as she stepped through the door and was kicked in the face. Jumping over the fiend Willow flipped over and brought her sword down cutting the fiend in half. She grinned as she straightened up, and saw Tara pointing her pistols at her. Ducking and turning as Tara fired she saw a Ochu fiend about to grab her.



Buffy threw a Heat Blaster mix effectively setting the fiend on fire, Willow cast a Flare spell and ducked under a burning vine as it reached for her. Tara fire four more rounds into the fiends mid-section, the fiend toppled over and burst into souls. A piece of wall fell away revealing a soft red light.



“There it is.” Willow said quietly when she saw the red glowing sphere hidden inside the wall.



Tara looked over cocking her head. “There’s something wrong with it.”



“Whatcha mean? Looks fine to me.” Buffy said walking over to the sphere, and groaned.



“What is it?” Willow glanced over before going back to fiend watching.



Picking up the sphere she turned around and held it up “It’s only a half of a sphere!”



“What? How’d they half it, without harming it?” Tara asked confused.



“Don’t know…” Buffy’s words were cut off as the dome shook.



Willow turned in every direction ready for a fight. Tara jumped back as a large chunk of the roof fell; Buffy dodged a falling pillar, and ran over to Tara. Willow’s eyes went wide when she saw what was causing the dome to shake. Outside the dome a sixty-foot long green and blue octopus was hitting the roof with its tentacles.



“Run!” Willow shouted as a tentacle bust through the roof and swiped at her. Back flipping she swung her sword cutting the tip off, and ran toward the ropes. Tara was nearly to the top, and Buffy was half way climbing as fast as she could. When Tara climbed out of the hole she drew her pistols and shot at the Sahagin standing at the door. Just as it exploded into souls four more ran through the door, and jumped at her.



Buffy poked her head up in time to see Tara back flip over the hole, and screamed when the Sahagin’s landed right in front of her. Three of the fiends exploded when Tara shot them, but the other had moved and avoided the bullet. Buffy climbed out of the hole, as a large brown fish with horns floated through the door.



The fish quickly turned hitting Buffy with its tail knocking her back, throwing a Rolling Thunder mix at it, she watched as eight Thunder spells rolled over its body. Turing she saw Tara take down the last Sahagin, and ran over to the hole. Tara joined her as they both looked down they saw Willow get knocked into the wall, groaning in pain she stood and swung her sword. The tentacle withdrew as another piece was severed; sighing in relief Willow grabbed the rope and pulled herself to the top.



“Baby, are you okay?” Tara asked when Willow laid on the floor.



“Fine…but I think my ribs are broken.”



Tara cast a healing spell, and watched as Willow’s body glowed a light blue color. “Feel better?”



“Yes, thank you.” Willow leaned up and planted a soft kiss on Tara’s lips.



“Okay, none of that…at least not now.” Buffy said walking toward the door. “We have to leave right now, no telling when more fiends will attack.”



Hurriedly making their way back to the front door, Willow and Buffy helped Tara get her diving suit back on, and opened the door. Seeing nothing waiting for them, Willow swam out first to look around. Not seeing the octopus anywhere near the dome, she motioned for the others to follow.



Climbing out of the water their eyes widened, as they ran toward the airship. The octopus was attacking the airship one tentacle wrapped around the front two wheels, as two tentacles beat on it. Dawn’s frightened voice shouted over the receiver.



“Buffy! E ryja du dyga uvv!” (Buffy! I have to take off!)



“Ku! Fa’mm dyga lyna uv dra fiend!” (Go! We’ll take care of the fiend!)Buffy shouted and watched as the airship pulled up, and away from the fiend.



When she saw the airship flying toward Gagazet, Willow cast a Thundaga spell causing the fiend wave its tentacles in the air madly. Jumping over a tentacle, then immediately ducking under one, Tara drew her pistols and began firing. Buffy waited till Willow dodge rolled away from the fiend before throwing a Thunderblast mix, followed by a Firestorm mix.



The girls covered her eyes as both mixes exploded at the same time. The Thunderblast was so loud it echoed across Gagazet Mountain, as lightning bolts fell from the sky hitting the fiend. The flames from the Firestorm rose sixty-feet into the air, as it burned across the fiend.



Tara was the first to react when the flames died down, and the lightning stopped. She shot two bullets infused with a Flare, and a Demi spell. The Flare spell exploded first ripping four of its tentacles off, a shield covered the fiend and shrunk.



Buffy mistook the Demi spell for a Holy, and jumped behind a rather large boulder. The fiend fought against the shield right before begin squashed, and disappeared along with the shield.



Buffy poked her head up over the boulder and looked around. “Where’s the fiend?”



“It’s gone.” Willow said grinning. “You know, that was a Demi spell…not a Holy, right?”



“Yes.” Buffy walked out from behind the boulder. “I thought I saw a…sphere.”



“Right.” Willow drawled out making Tara laugh as the airship hovered over them, and landed.



“Rinno! Don’t want to fight more fiends!” (Hurry!) Dawn said over the receiver.



“Dawn, we’ll get on when we’re ready…” Buffy said and stopped as she looked over Willow’s shoulder. “And we’re ready right now!”



“Huh?” Willow asked then turned to follow Buffy’s gaze. “Yeah we are so ready. Come on! Tara! Buffy!”



Tara looked confused as Willow grabbed her hand, and shoved Buffy through the doorway. Looking over her shoulder, she saw another octopus rise out of the water, followed by another three. Not even waiting for the cargo door to close, Dawn lifted the ship into the air and accelerated toward Gagazet.



“I wonder if those fiends are the newly dead?” Buffy asked walking through the door to the bridge while she examined the half sphere.



“I’ve never seen an octopus fiend that big-“ Willow said and stopped.



“What is it?” Tara asked wrapping her arms around Willow’s waist.



“Does it seem that the fiends are getting bigger to you?”



“Huh?” Buffy asked tossing the sphere to Shinra.



“Well, think about it. The Iron Men fiends, the Malboro fiends, hell, even the canine fiends all seem bigger.” Will said leaning back into Tara.



“If it’s the Farplane, something has to be done.” Tara said as red lights began blinking and an alarm going off.



“Ehlusehk tydy!” (Incoming data!) Dawn shouted excitedly.



“Rao, yfacusa!” (Hey, awesome!) Mizu said reading the data as Buffy came up behind her seat.



“What’s awesome?”



“These reports are about an ‘Awesome Sphere’ and it’s already drawn a crowd.”



Leaning over her shoulder Willow read the reports and grinned, “So, where is this sphere?”



“The reports are coming from Kilika Woods.”



“Come on, then!” Tara shouted smiling “Let’s go get that sphere!”



“Right!” Willow and Buffy shouted.



“Kilika Woods we coming!” Dawn grinned.



There's 12 and I'm working on 13 now and it'll be out tomorrow. Thanks for reading and hope ya enjoyed

Chapter Thirteen: Kilika Island



The airship circled Kilika Island before skimming across the water and landing next to the docks. Willow and Tara had been holding on to each other, pressed up against the wall.



Buffy had not been so lucky, she'd been thrown from one side of the cargo hold to the other, before she'd grabbed on to a rope. Willow softly kissed Tara as she pressed the button to lower the door.



Buffy was grumbling under her breath as she rose from the floor, grabbed Willow, and pulled her out the door. Tara followed giggling, and took a look around. There were people all over the docks working on building to their homes, and working a Youth League office five hundred yards from the beach.



The girls could see Youth League members and New Yevon members arguing with each other, as they walked down the dock.



"Looks like tension is building more and more between the groups." Tara said as they passed by two men screaming at one another.



"I'll say. Whoa!" Willow said and jumped back to avoid getting hit by a New Yevon man as he flew past her. A Youth League man ran in front of them, and threw the other into the water.



"Ya know, I think we shouldn't get involved with any fights while we're here." Buffy said stepping away from a group of men, and women, who at that moment were fighting like rabid dogs.



"You're right! Let's go, before we get pulled into something." Tara said and walked ahead.



"Yeah, and everyone would want you on their side...you are the High Summoner after all." Willow growled out as they reached the next section of the docks. A man was pushed out of a hut and stood staring inside.



"Cordelia!" The man said getting the girls attention.



"Hey! That's Angel!" Buffy said and heard Cordelia's voice.



"Have it your way."



"Cordelia! Please!"



"Go on, leave!"



Angel ran by the girls with his shoulders slumped as they walked up the steps. Walking in front of the door Tara stopped and turned.



"Well, look who's here." Cordelia said and motioned for the girls to step inside.



"It's good to see you." Tara smiled as Willow nodded noticing that Cordelia was wearing the same outfit like always. Tara looked over at her with a glare, Willow's eyes widened as she looked at the floor.



"Damn! What's up with Angel?" Buffy asked leaning against the staircase. "He just flew right by us without saying a word!"



"It's nothing really. You see, I joined the Youth League, and he joined New Yevon. And that makes living together rather difficult."



"But you've been together so long..." Tara sadly trailed off and looked at the floor.



"Everything will get straightened out... I'm sure of it." Cordelia said and approached the door. "The Youth League members are meeting inside the gate, I must be going." she said and left, with the girls following. Cordelia led the girls through the gate without knowing, and waited for the meeting to begin.



Tara looked around at the group gathered and sighed. "Are all these people sphere hunters too?"



"I don't think so..." Willow said just before the group of people stared cheering and clapping.



"Hey, who's that?" Buffy asked pointing out a man with long light brown hair, and glasses. His left leg was covered by a metal brace, and he was using a metal cane to help him walk. The crowd began chanting 'Nooj' as he approached.



"Ah, so that's the Meyvn of the Youth League." Willow said stepping beside Tara and taking her hand as Nooj began to speak.



"Greetings, everyone! There is an important sphere hidden in Kilika Temple. A sphere documenting the true history of Spira. That is why we are here today... to demand that New Yevon make the contents of the sphere public. As always, we are kept in the dark and ignored, and I have to ask you: why? It is because that New Yevon wants to keep the truth hidden! Just as the Temples did before them! And I say that it has gone on long enough! Stand with me, and together we will bring the truth out!"



The crowd cheered as Nooj turned to leave. Turning around he smiled to the people "But let’s not overdo it… Our opponents aren't as young as they used to be." he said and walked toward the jungle.



The girls watched the crowd follow Nooj into the jungle before glancing at each other.



"Well that wasn't what I had expected." Tara shook her head.



"That's our sphere! Dammit!" Buffy stomped her foot on the ground. "So whatcha wanna do now? Quit?"



"I don't know about you, Buffy." Willow grinned. "But I for one sure could use an 'Awesome Sphere'"



"They can't decide who it belongs to." Tara joined Willow's trail of thought and giggled. "I say we make it our own!"



"Right!" Willow and Buffy shouted as the three high fived and ran off into the jungle.



Running straight into the jungle they came to a blockade with the Youth League members on their side, and New Yevon guards on the other.



"Hand the sphere over! Yevon has controlled Spira's secrets long enough!" A man shouted pounding on the gate.



"What are you talking about?" A guard asked



"Don't play dumb! You're guarding something from us!" Another man shouted making the guard angry.



"We're guarding our families from bastards like you!" The guard said holding his gun up. "I think you'd better leave."



While the men were fighting Willow had looked up and into the trees. Squeezing Tara's hand, and nudging Buffy's arm, she pointed up. Following her gaze Tara and Buffy saw a path through the trees, and stepped away from the blockade. The girls jumped up on to the path and ran toward the temple, where the Youth League members were squaring off with the New Yevon priests.



"I keep telling you!" A priest said angrily.



"Just shut the hell up! Give us the sphere and we'll be on our way." Cordelia said just as angrily.



"I don't know what you're talking about!"



"Hey! I found it! I found the sphere!" A man said running down the stairs from the temple carrying a movie sphere in his right hand.



"See? You had it all along! And now it's ours!" Cordelia said, and then began to look around as the ground started shaking. "Huh? What's going on?"



The priest smiled as a ten-foot tall brown and gray machina robot walked down the stairs. Many of the Youth League members ran off, as the machina glowed and shot its fist at them. The fist returned back on the arm as the priest walked over to it.



"I had something prepared for this. It was nice knowing you!" The priest laughed as he ran back toward the temple.



"Watch out!" Willow screamed and ran at Cordelia knocking her out of the path of the giant fist as it flew by.



Tara began firing her pistols, as Buffy mixed a Rolling Thunder mix and threw it at the machina. Willow rose from the ground and cast a Thundaga spell as she turned. She infused Tara's bullets and her and Buffy's weapons with Thunder magic before she ran at the machina.



The machina swung both fists around just missing Willow and skimming the side of Buffy's face. Willow rolled under the machina and rose up behind it, hitting its back with her sword as it shot a fist toward Tara. Tara side flipped, and rolled forward pumping bullets into its face.



Willow threw her second sword to Buffy who caught it in mid-air, and swung it down severing the left fist off. Twirling her body Willow sliced at the joint in its right leg, sending the machina to the ground.



"Ha! How'd you like that?" Buffy asked smirking as she danced around.



Tara laughed watching Buffy. "I have to say, that wasn't bad at all!"



"We are so good!" Willow said joining Buffy and dancing around.



"Just what in Hellfire do you think you're doing?" Cordelia asked causing Buffy and Willow to blush and stop dancing.



"Well...you see, we're...um, sphere hunters." Tara said holding her pistols to her side.



"So?" Cordelia asked confused and backed up as Willow flipped her sword in the air, Buffy swung hers around and brought it down in front of her, and Tara twirled her pistols and pointed them at Cordelia's feet.



"Sorry, Cordelia, but that sphere is ours!" Tara said as the airship rose into the air with the cargo door open.



Buffy grabbed Tara's hand and ran toward the ship. Willow laughed as she swiped the sphere from the man holding it.



"Tough luck!" Willow grinned and jumped into the airship leaving some very pissed off Youth League and New Yevon members behind.



The girls ran up to the bridge laughing all the way and tossed the sphere to Shinra. Willow pulled Tara close to her, and planted a long deep kiss on her lips.



"I can't believe that! Did you see the look on their faces?" Buffy leaned against the back of Shinra's seat laughing. "I swear they pissed their pants!"



"Don't you think we might've overdid it?" Tara asked turning in Willow's arms.



"Overdid it?" Dawn asked laughing as hard as Buffy. "No way! We shall be notorious throughout Spira!"



"Yeah!" Buffy said getting her laughter under control.



"You know, they weren't all that happy with us." Willow said and slid to the floor bringing Tara into her lap.



"Huh?" Buffy asked confused.



"You can't forget that notoriety can be a bad thing."



"So? I wanna have lots of fun!" Dawn said bouncing up and down with Buffy.



Sighing Mizu walked over and glared at both girls. "Just make damn sure that you don't do anything to land us in hot water, okay?"



"Aww...damn! There's no fun in being just plain old sphere hunters." Buffy said slumping her shoulders. "And there's no boiling water around here."



"Yeah! What she said!" Dawn said standing beside her sister.



"Oh...shit!" Willow groaned.



"What?" Tara asked laying her head on Willow's shoulder.



Shinra turned and stood up in his seat. "Whenever Buffy and Dawn agree on something... bad things happen."



"That can't be good." Tara said and snuggled into Willow closing her eyes with a smile.



An hour later the airship shook waking Willow from her doze. Yawning she smiled and kissed Tara's forehead.



"Wake up, baby."



Tara slowly opened her eyes and hugged Willow closer. "What if I don't want to wake up?"



"Well, I guess I would have to make you wake up."



"And how would you do that?"



"Oh...maybe like this." Willow said leaning down almost kissing Tara, before she began to tickle her. Tara wiggled around laughing and rolled away from Willow.



"That was mean! I thought you were going to kiss me." Tara giggled then blushed when Buffy tapped her on the shoulder.



"Yeah, and if she would have...we would’ve had to cover our eyes...and ears!" Buffy giggled as Tara rose and hurriedly walked over to Shinra.



"How'd the analysis go?"



"Well, it's just a regular movie sphere. You wanna watch it?"



"Yeah, sure." Tara said as Willow stood to her left with Buffy on her right.



[Sphere]



An image of a one hundred foot tall machina with an evil grinning face appeared, as Glory looked up at it.



"You know, you're all I can count on to save Lenne." Glory said to the machina and ran forward as the image disappeared.



[End]



"Fryd en dra ramm fyc dryd keyhd machina?" (What in the hell was that giant machina?) Dawn ask with wide eyes.



Tara stepped back into Willow's arms. "What...what was she doing?"



"Who's Lenne?" Willow asked squeezing Tara.



"U tuh'd mega drec cbrana!" (I don't like this sphere!) Dawn said with Mizu nodding her head. "Give the sphere back!"



"But we worked so hard to get it!" Buffy said turning to Dawn.



"Don't care! That thing is uber bad news!"



"Hey, what if we...ya know, donated it to the study of Spira's history? That's what a sphere hunter is about, right?" Mizu said trying to clam Dawn down.



"Isn't it a little late to be bringing that up?" Willow said and slid down to the floor bringing Tara with her.



Buffy nodded. "Yeah! We already swiped it!"



"Still don't care! I don't want it around me! We will give it back, now!" Dawn said and glared at Buffy.



Tara nodded. "It might be better to get rid of it."



"You don't mind?" Buffy asked surprised.



"I've seen it."



"I agree with Tara and Dawn...I don't like that sphere." Willow said kissing Tara's cheek.



"Still it's pretty shameless to just saunter up and give back the sphere we just stole." Mizu said picking the sphere up.



"Oui pi xiead!" (You be quite!) Dawn glared at her.



"So who are we gonna give it to?" Buffy asked then looked puzzled.



"With the Youth League and New Yevon, it's a lose-lose situation." Shinra said walking over to the group.



"Give it to the Youth League, they were the ones fighting for it." Tara said and rose with Willow following. "I'm going to get some sleep, and all of you should too. We'll take the sphere back tomorrow, okay?"



"Yeah, sure. Go rest, both of you." Buffy looked from Tara to Willow and grinned when Willow yawned.



Dawn sat the airship down on a small safe island a few miles from Kilika, and went to bed. Buffy was already asleep and dreaming about Faith. Mizu was reading more reports from the Bikanel Desert, and Shinra was still researching fiends.



In Tara and Willow's room both girls were asleep, somehow Tara's outfit changed to the purple shirt, and gray skirt as she slept. And she began to dream.



[Dream]



Tara was running beside Willow down a dark hallway, being chased by Bevelle guards with bayonet rifles. Running into another room they stood in front of the giant machina, and turned to face one another. Willow looked into her blue eyes and gently kissed her. When she pulled back a tear fell from Tara's right eye, and she smiled sadly.



The guards stopped and cocked their rifles, Willow glared at the men as Tara turned to face them. The bullets sped through the air and hit both girls knocking them to the floor. Tara turned her head to Willow, and saw that she had been killed instantly. She closed her eyes and took one last breath before she died.

Tara was tossing in her sleep; Willow turned over and gently shook her as Buffy came into the room.



"Tara, baby, wake up." Willow said and kissed her. "Come on, baby. It's just a bad dream."



Slowly opening her eyes Tara saw a worried looking Willow and Buffy leaning over her. "What?" she softly asked and wiped the sweat from her face.



"You were having a bad dream." Willow said worriedly



"Blame it on the new jammies." Buffy said looking at what Tara was wearing. "Why did you sleep in that anyway?"



"She wasn't wearing it when we fell asleep." Willow said confused.



"No time to worry about it now. We're almost to the Youth League headquarters." Buffy turned to leave. "Hurry and get dressed... I'm starting to want that sphere gone too!" she said and left the girls alone to dressed.

Chapter Fourteen: Youth League Headquarters



After they’d gotten dressed they caught up with Buffy to have a quick breakfast. Thinking back to what Buffy had said Willow’s brow creased.



“Say, Buffy, what’d you mean when you said you wanted the sphere gone?”



“I was also thinking about that.”



Buffy sighed putting her fork down and stared at her scrambled eggs. “You’ll never believe the dream I had! It was totally freaky!”



Thinking back to the dream she had Tara glanced at Willow, before her gaze settled on Buffy. “Tell us, what was it about?”



“Okay, I don’t know where the hell I was, but Faith was with me and we were running down a dark hall… being chased by guards. “I think maybe it was Bevelle guards, because they had machina guns with them. Anyway we ended up in this huge room with that damn scary machina! Faith kissed me and turned toward the guards, right before we were…” Buffy trailed off not wanting to finish



“The guards fired hitting both of you, and you fell to the floor and looked over to Faith. You saw that she was already dead, taking one last breath you also died. Am I right?” Tara asked softly.



Buffy’s head had shot up as she stared at Tara and nodded. “How’d you know?”



“Because that was the same dream I had, only it was myself and Will getting shot.”



Tara had told her about the dream as they were getting dressed, and what she didn’t tell Tara was that she’d had the same dream. And now hearing Buffy also had the dream it just down right freaked Willow out. Her hands shook and the fork-full of scrambled eggs clattered to the floor.



“I had it, too.” She whispered just loud enough for Buffy and Tara to hear. Both girls looked at her with wide eyes. “Only in my dream Tara died first… not me.”



“I don’t like this!” Buffy said watching Tara wrap her arms around Willow to comfort her. “I’ll be freaking glad to get that damn sphere away from this ship!”



“But it’s weird… the three of us having the same dream? How’s that possible?” Tara asked confused.



“I don’t know, but let’s keep this between us, for now.” Buffy softly said and pushed the plate of eggs away.



“Sounds good to me.” Willow said squeezing Tara before pulling back.



“We’re here.” Mizu said over the intercom causing the girls to jump.



“Let’s go.” Tara spoke softly as she rose and left the room with Willow holding her hand, and Buffy following behind.



Dawn had sat the ship down at the entrance to Mushroom Rock Road, and followed everyone out the cargo door. She made sure the door was shut and locked before the group moved on. Yaibal shouted happily and ran over to the group.



"Lady Tara! I knew you wouldn't let us down! I'll go tell everyone you are here!" He said and ran off toward the League Headquarters.



"Well ain't he happy?" Mizu said and followed.



When the group got off the lift and looked toward the headquarters their eyes widened. Thousands of balloons were floating up into the air, music was being played loudly, and the members were clapping and cheering.



"Damn! Looks like they're pulling out all the stops!" Buffy said grinning.



"I wonder why?" Tara asked confused and watched a balloon break free, and float over the ocean.



"Sweetheart, you're the High Summoner, remember?" Willow said wrapping her right arm around Tara's waist.



"She may be. But tell me, who throws a welcome party for the ones who stole from them?" Mizu asked eyeing the members.



"Fru lynac? Ed'c y byndo! Cu... Mad'c byndo!" (Who cares? It's a party! So... Let's party!) Dawn shouted happily.



Shinra sighed looking from Dawn who was bouncing up and down, to Buffy who was giggling and stealing food. "I don't know...but at least while we're here, why not have some fun."



The group made their way toward Nooj as he walked out of the door beside Drusilla. Holding the sphere up Tara nervously smiled.



"Umm, we'd like to give you the sphere that we stole from you." Tara said and handed him the sphere. "Now that you have it, you can stop all the fighting in Kilika."



"This is sudden." Nooj said and looked the group over. "Maybe you should start by introducing yourself, High Sum-"



"We're sphere hunters, the Gullwings." Willow said not letting him finish.



"I see. Well in that case, I gratefully accept this sphere. On behalf of the Youth League, I thank you." He said and turned toward the members. "Three cheers for the Gullwings!" he shouted as the members began chanting and shouting.



Nooj motioned for them to follow him into the HQ and sat down at a computer consol. "Did you watch it?"



"Hm?" Buffy mumbled trying not to show her nervousness.



"The sphere? Did you watch it?"



"Well um... I, uh... Heheh?" Buffy said looking around the room.



"Yes, we did." Tara said as Willow pulled Buffy behind her.



"Forget what you saw."



"I cannot forget it."



“Yeah, no shit!” Willow and Buffy whispered thinking about the dream and shivered, before Willow narrowed her eyes and looked at Nooj.



"Look buddy! I won't let you push either Tara or us around." Willow almost growled.



"Just some advice. That...thing... The colossus you saw is known as Vegnagun. It possesses overwhelming destructive power, and it must not be touched! Yet those Yevon fools think that they can control it. The Youth League will do whatever it takes to make sure they don't get a chance to try. Please, trust me, you don't want to get involved."



"Can you tell us... Who was the woman in the sphere?" Willow asked thinking about Glory



"I'm sorry but that I cannot say. The sphere is too old to really say."



"Oh..." Willow started to say something else but stopped when Mizu ran in.



"We're getting a distress signal from the airship!"



"What!?" Buffy screamed and ran out of the room, followed by the others and met up with Dawn and Shinra at the left.



Running back down Mushroom Rock Road, Dawn and Shinra were in the middle of Tara and Buffy. Willow led the way with Mizu bringing up the rear.



Hurriedly casting a Blizzaga spell Willow took out a Fire Element. Tara drew her pistols and fired two rounds into a large bird fiend; Buffy threw a Firestorm mix killing a canine fiend as they got to the airship door.



Everyone split up, and met fifteen minutes later in the Engine Room. Barkeep walked down the stairs. "Intruders? Anything mishing? Shtill inveshtitagating."



Shinra walked into the room shaking his head. "It's official. We've been burgled." He said and approached the group. "The half sphere from the Zanarkand Ruins is missing."



"Yeah and look at what I found." Mizu said holding up a movie sphere and pressing the button.



[Sphere]



An image of Ormi, Logos, and Leblanc appeared with them smiling into the sphere.



"Tell me, now who's on top, Dullwings? Ha! It'll be a thousand years before you can take on the mighty Leblanc!" The three thieves laughed as the imaged disappeared.

"She got us!" Willow said unbelievingly.



"Well, dammit!" Tara cursed.



"Tara! Don't talk like that!" Buffy said surprised.



"I've heard her say worse... And I'll be shutting up now." Willow stepped back when Tara sent a glare her way.



"So? What do you wanna do?" Buffy asked stifling a giggle



"We're gonna take it back! No one messes with us!"



"What about Vegnagun?" Willow asked quietly



Tara stepped toward Willow and wrapped her arm around her waist. "I don't want to get too involved, know what I mean?"



"Yeah, I do."



"Good." Tara leaned down and kissed the tip of Willow's nose. "Now, let's take our sphere back!"



"That's right! We steal back what is stolen! Now we go to Chateau Leblanc! We attack in the name of honor!" Dawn said happily.



Mizu sighed and shook her head. "Yeah... and get our asses kick in the name of honor."



"Maybe we can sneak in in disguise?" Tara thought aloud.



"That's it!" Dawn nodded



"So, we have to fly around till we find some of Leblanc's gang-" Buffy started



"Beat them up and steal their uniforms. Three of them." Willow finished laughing.



“We’ve got a plan! Where to first?” Tara asked squeezing Willow.



“Let’s check out Kilika first then maybe check on Anya.”



“Right on, Will! I wanna know if she and the baby are doing good!”



Tara giggled “Buffy, we know you just want to feel the baby kick!”



“So what?” Buffy asked following Dawn out of the engine room, and up to the bridge.



“You know, sweetie, Buffy’ll never leave when our baby starts kicking.” Tara giggled, “She won’t leave you alone either.” She said and ran up the stairs.



“Me? No, no, no! You’ll be the one carrying the baby, not me!” Willow chased after her.



"There's 14 and 15'll be out tomorrow.

To be forgotten is worse than death.

But I liked the end of the last chapter with Tara and Willow arguing over who will carry the baby, it was funny.



So I want to see how they get they're sphere back from Ormi, Logos, and Leblanc; I hope the girls will kick their asses.

Egnalos - Don't feel bad about missing the last few updates. Glad you liked them. The dream...or rather nightmare is important to the story line, but the reason why they had it will be explained down the road. As for getting the sphere back from Leblanc and her goons. That'll be next chapter. This chapter will introduce a new character in Besaid. Plus I had a little fun with the girls, and got them into a fiend fight...and set up a couple of small side story lines.

Chapter Fifteen: All Over Spira



Dawn landed the airship close to the Kilika docks and waited as the girls left. Heading toward town they saw a group of Youth Leagues members led by Cordelia approaching them. Sighing and tensing for a fight Willow faced the group.



''Gullwings, right?" Cordelia stated more than asked glancing from Willow, to Tara, and to Buffy. "Sphere hunters that give back spheres. Now that's a little odd. But we are glad you're on our side."



Relaxing Willow grinned. "Well, we just wanted to see it...by the way have you seen any of Leblanc's goons running around?"



"Leblanc? Who's that?"



"A blond woman, who dresses like a slut!"



"Willow!" Tara smiled and shook her head as Buffy shook with laughter. "But she is right, so, have you seen her?"



"No, can't say that I've seen that sort of woman around here." Cordelia laughed.



"Okay, thanks though."



"By the way, we're still fighting with New Yevon. You might want to keep your distance from the island for a little while."



"Thanks for letting us know." Buffy nodded and headed back to the ship.



Besaid Island was the next stop, Buffy squealed and ran out of the cargo door speeding toward Xander and Anya's hut. Xander wasn't expecting the bone-crushing hug and fell to the ground with Buffy landing on top of him. Anya came out of the hut and laughed when she saw a dazed looking Xander.



"Honey, you okay?''



"Yeah...but did you fry that blond flying ape that attacked me?"



"Ape!" Buffy shouted and smacked Xander's face before latching on to Anya.



"How are you? Is the baby okay? Is it almost here? Will you tell us?" Buffy asked all the while searching for just the right spot to feel the baby kick.



"I'm fine. The baby's fine. A little while longer. And yes we will tell you." Anya shook her head and saw Willow holding Tara's hand as they finally caught up. "And how are all of you?"



"Oh, we're fine...have you seen any of Leblanc's goons running around?" Willow asked grinning when Buffy giggled.



"Who's that?"



"She's a blond-" Willow was stopped when Tara's hand clamped over her mouth.



"Sorry, sweetie." Tara smiled at Willow and turned to Anya. "She's another sphere hunter."



"Nope, the only sphere hunters around here are you guys." Xander said sitting up and looking around. "Did ya see a flying ape?" he asked getting a glare from Buffy. "What? I swear there was one!"



"Flying ape? Umm...no I haven't seen one of those." Willow said when Tara lowered her hand.



"Sorry to cut this short, but we got to get going." Tara said and grabbed Buffy.



Dawn was watching the Aurochs practice when they reached the airship, and saw Jassu running toward them.



"We knew you were on our side!" He said excitedly.



"What?"



"All the Aurochs joined the Youth League. But Xander hasn't joined yet."



"Can't blame him, ya? His kid's popping out any minute you know." Datto said approaching.



"You men must be confident in your strength if you're skipping training to flap your lips like that!" A man with a blue suit and a face cover said walking up to the group. "I am Beclem, and I'm here to pound some fight into these pathetic slackers!"



"This guy is creeping me out." Buffy said inching her way toward the airship.



"Yeah, seriously." Tara said and turned to leave.



"See you later, guys." Datto said and bowed.



"Stop that at once!" Beclem shouted causing the girls to turn around. "The age of temples and prayers are over. There is no need to bow down to any summoner."



"Hey! Who's Calm do you think this is, buster?" Buffy shouted before Willow had a chance to say anything.



"There are no more Aeons to summon. The summoners are worthless now!"



"You will take those words back!" Tara spoke angrily.



"Ha! I will do no such thing."



"You will take them back, before I make you!" Willow growled out gripping her sword.



"And why? I find it hard to believe that you defeated Sin! You obviously had help." Beclem said to Tara.



"I did, from my friends, and wife. My pilgrimage was successful because they and the Aeons supported me along the way. And they still do. Memories of the time we spent together make me strong. And I won't stand here and let you call that useless."



"I don't know why your kind always prattle on about your precious memories." Beclem said turning and heading back to the village.



"He's got some nerve!" Buffy said glaring at his back.



"Bastard!" Willow growled and clamed down when Tara gently kissed her lips.



"Don't worry about him, we've got bigger fish to fry. Okay?"



"Yeah." Willow sighed hugging Tara close before getting on the ship.



"Now where to?" Dawn asked starting up the ship.



"How 'bout Mi'ihen?" Buffy asked sitting in her own chair beside Dawn's.



"Sounds good to me." Tara was rubbing Willow's back trying to calm her down a bit more.



Dawn sat the airship down just outside of the Al Bhed shop and pressed the stand by button. The girls walked into the shop and saw a young teenage girl talking to the clerk.



"I'm sorry, but there aren't any chocobos around."



"I see... Sorry I bothered you." The young girl said and turned to leave, but stopped when she saw Tara. "Aren't you Lady Tara?"



"I am." Tara smiled.



"You don't remember me, do you?"



Tara looked closely at the girl and thought back. "You can't be... Calli?"



"Yeah! You do remember me!" Calli said happily



"Oh! You were the little girl that was looking forward to the Calm!" Willow said remembering the small girl from two years before. "Wow! You've really grown! What're you doing here?"



"Well, I wanted to ride a chocobo."



"There aren't that many chocobos around any more, everyone rides the hovers." Buffy said and opened the door for the girl, and followed her out to the small hill overlooking the ocean.



"Yeah... and I've also heard there's a chocobo-eating fiend prowling around. This road was never safe for the poor little chocobos."



"Maybe they're gone for good?" Buffy sighed and her eyes widened as a chocobo stopped behind the group.



"Cho..." Tara stared at the yellow bird.



"Cho!" Buffy said excitedly causing Willow to look at her confused.



"Cho?"



"It's a chocobo!" Calli shouted as the chocobo ran off with the girls following.



"It went this way!" Buffy shouted and followed the bright yellow feathers on the ground. "Ooh! There it is! Let's get him!" They followed the bird down the highroad, trying to catch it. The chocobo would jump over their heads and run off. "This is starting to chap my hide! Get back here bird-brain!" Buffy shouted as the bird jumped over her head again.



"For such scrawny legs, it sure can run." Willow said resting her hands on her knees, and breathing hard.



Buffy climbed up on top of one of the ruins and looked toward Luca. "There it is!" she shouted and pointed to the chocobo at the beginning of the road. Willow and Tara took off as she fell from the roof of the ruin and landed on something hard. She rubbed her sore ass and ran after the girls.



"We need to think of something else, or we'll never catch it!" Tara said when the chocobo ran off again.



"I got an idea." Willow said and ran over to the hover driver and talked to her. She smiled as she hurried back to Tara. "Okay, let's do it."



Finding the chocobo and making it run back toward the shop the girls chased after it, as the hover sped by them, and passed the bird. The hover driver turned the hover cross ways of the road trapping the chocobo between it and the girls. Willow petted the chocobo and smiled as Buffy jumped up and down.



"We finally caught it!" Tara shouted happily as a man came running toward her.



"Hey, Calli's in trouble!" The man shouted and ran off toward the shop with the girls and chocobo following. He led them to the second stretch of the highroad that looked down on the oldroad. Calli was laying unconscious on the top of a ruin with a chocobo eater closing in fast. Tara was about to jump down when Willow and Buffy grabbed her.



"You can't!" Willow said as she pulled Tara back.



"But there isn't enough time!"



"Hyaa!" William shouted and sent four chocobos to distract the fiend. "We'll buy you some time! Lady Tara, please hurry!" He said and ducked under the fiends' giant hand.



Tara ran off with the others following and took the side road to the fiend. Drawing her pistols Tara pointed them at the fiend, as Willow infused the bullets with Fire magic. Buffy had already mixed up a Firestorm mix and threw it toward the fiend.



Willow cast a Flare spell, and swung her Fire infused sword across its chest. The sword burned a deep cut into its chest, and another as Willow swung again. Tara emptied both clips in her pistols, and waited a few seconds before the clips were fresh again. Buffy took the sword Willow had given her, and threw it at the fiend. The sword stuck between its eyes as the fiend fell over and burst into souls.



William had helped Calli down off the ruins after the fight was over, and put her on a chocobo to ride. The girls watched her as she rode around in circles, as they talked to William.



"I thought you were in the Calm Lands... What're you doing here?" Willow asked cleaning the blood off her sword.



"I followed a chocobo here... and I happened to see that fiend attacking."



"Glad you were here to help." Tara smiled and leaned into Willow wrapping her arm around her waist.



"Yeah, if you like I can make sure she gets home safely."



"Thank you. We really have to be going." Buffy grinned. "By the way, Will, that one goes on my record!"



"Whatever." Willow smiled. "Anyway I have more kills than you." she laughed and ran off with Buffy chasing after her. Sighing Tara shook her head and followed.



Willow ran to the entrance of Mushroom Rock Road and was stopped when Yaibal stepped in front of her.



"Lady Tara!" Yaibal shouted happily when Tara approached. "Thank you!"



"For what?" Tara glanced to Willow then Buffy confused.



"I'm sure this is the day that you will honor us by joining the Youth League!"



"That's not why we're here." Willow said with a glare.



"Don't worry about any thing... I'll make sure everyone knows!" Yaibal ignored Willow and ran off.



"I can't believe this!" Willow growled shaking her head.



"Don't worry, sweetie, we'll get it straightened out." Tara gently kissed her, and followed Yaibal's path.



The girls followed the road toward the lift, as they neared the ravine Mizu sent a transmission.



"Hey, we're getting weak sphere waves near you."



"I don't see anything." Buffy looked around.



"Remember that cave you found Leblanc's men in? That's probably where it is."



"Okay, we'll check it out." Willow said and jumped into the ravine, and led the others to the cave.



Stepping inside the cave the girls saw Nooj standing in front of the sphere door. He looked at a sphere in his hand and back to the door, before shaking his head and turning.



"Oh! Lady Tara. Hello."



"Is something wrong?" Tara asked as she stared past him to the door.



"This place has been sealed. And just one sphere isn't enough. You see it takes red spheres to open the door."



"Why don't you let us take care of it?" Buffy asked grinning.



"You'll find the other spheres?"



"On my honor as a sphere hunter!" Tara smiled.



"But we won't do it for free." Willow said and stepped beside Tara.



"Very well, I will leave it to you. Here, hold on to this." He said handing Tara the red sphere.



"Thanks!" Buffy giggled and watched him leave.



They followed the path out a few minutes later and headed toward the headquarters. Upon exiting the lift Darla came running toward them, smiling happily.



"Is it true? Are you really going to join the League?"



"I'm going to take a wild guess, Yaibal?" Willow asked and leaned up against the rocks.



"Everyone's talking about it!"



"Man! This just keeps getting better and better." Buffy sighed shaking her head.



"We just helped the one time, really." Tara saw Darla nod.



"I didn't think it was true. Yaibal has a way of turning everything around." She said as Drusilla approached.



"Do not worry, Lady Tara, I have reprimanded Yaibal for spreading such ridiculous rumors."



"But it would be great if it were true." Darla sighed.



"Still trying to get her to join?" Willow said as she stepped beside Tara and took her hand.



"No. I know that words alone are not enough to sway Lady Tara's heart. The heart moves of it's own accord from within, and not from without." Drusilla said as her headset beeped. "Please excuse us, we have a strategy session to attend. Farwell."



"Come back and see us again!" Darla said as Drusilla pulled her away.



"Come on, let's tell Dawn to pick us up." Willow said and cast a Blizzaga spell on a Bomb that was sneaking up behind them.



"So where to?" Buffy asked as the ship landed.



"Djose Temple." Tara said uncertain watching Buffy go from happy to pissed in a heartbeat thinking she’d see Gippal there.

Chapter Sixteen: Chateau Leblanc



Dawn sat the airship down on the entrance of the Djose Highroad from the Moonflow. Tara had a pull Willow and Buffy away from practicing Sphere Break, and laughed when they groaned. Two of Leblanc's female goons were standing near the edge of the road, looking on the ground.



"Where'd we drop that thing? We'll get the heel if we don't find that sphere!" The taller one said.



"Stop your damn complaining and help me look!" The second one said and moved down the road.



"Come on! Let's find it first!" Buffy bolted down the road with Tara and Willow right behind her.



Near the end of the road Buffy skidded to a halt and sighed. Tara saw something shine from the corner of her eye, and turned to look. On the ground beside a boulder was the sphere they were looking for, she grinned and picked it up. Turning around she tossed it to Willow as Ormi and a female goon walked up behind her.



"Ah, so that's where it was! Sorry for troubling yous guys. Although I do appreciate yous finding it for us." Ormi said holding out his hand.



Willow backed up beside Buffy and drew her sword, Buffy had her knives out, and Tara shook her head drawing her pistols.



"What? You're not gonna give it back?" Ormi asked surprised as the girls again shook their heads. "The nerve!"



"What's wrong?" Logos asked approaching. "The Gullwings!" he shouted pulling his pistol.



"Say..." Willow interrupted "That's a really nice uniform." she said eyeing the fem-goon.



"These meanies won't give back the sphere!"



"Then we take it!" Logos shot at Buffy who back flipped and threw a knife at him. The knife flew through the air, and lodged in his shoulder. Tara had begun to fire at Ormi's shield with Fire infused rounds, and Willow took on the fem-goon. Dodging a Thunder spell, Willow flipped over the fem-goon and hit the back of her head. Ormi's shield cracked and broke apart, allowing Tara to shoot at his feet. Logos had pulled the knife out of his shoulder and threw it to the ground as he shot at Buffy.



A scream echoed along the highroad stopping everyone in their tracks. Turning the two men went wide-eyed as Tara and Buffy broke into a fit of giggles. Willow was sitting on top of the half undressed fem-goon, and pulling her suit off. When the suite came free the woman rose and took off with Ormi and Logos right behind her, fearing for their own clothing.



With the uniform in hand the girls returned to the airship, and met on the bridge. Mizu turned around in her seat and smiled.



"Hey! I was able to track down those two Leblanc goons heading toward Gagazet. You wanna go there?"



"Yes! Move! Move!" Buffy shouted happily causing Dawn to roll her eyes.



"Oui zicd fyhd du gecc uh Faith!" (You just want to kiss on Faith!) Dawn sighed shaking her head as the ship shot toward Gagazet.



"Oui sehe fiend!" (You mini fiend!) Buffy shouted back shaking her fist causing Tara to laugh as she sat down beside Willow.



Faith looked into the sky and saw the airship begin to descend, a smile spread across her face as she waited. Dawn was barely containing her laughter as she slowly sat the airship down. Buffy was pacing round the bridge like a contained fiend, and griping about how long it was taking to land.



Willow stepped out of the way when Buffy shot by her, and ran toward the cargo door. Tara grabbed Willow by her hand, and followed Buffy's path. They stepped outside in time to see Buffy almost flying at Faith. Neither girl noticed when they landed on the ground, and continued kissing.



"And they complain about us!"



"We are worse." Willow said and grabbed Tara pulling her into a long deep loving kiss.



Buffy and Faith had begun to watch after they'd got off the ground. Buffy was grinning as Faith shook her head.



"You know, I might have to train as a blitz player."



"Why's that?" Buffy asked confused.



"Look at 'em! They haven't pulled back once since they started!" Faith pointed making Buffy laugh as Willow broke the kiss, leaving Tara with a goofy grin on her face.



"Hey, Faith. How ya doing?" Willow asked embracing the Dragon Warrior.



"Fine... I don't have to ask about either of you. Not after what I saw."



"Can't resist." Tara giggled and hugged her adopted sister.



"So, what brings you up this way?''



"Have you seen any goon-type women running around, wearing a pink body suit?"



"Yeah, they were heading up the mountain. And I don't like it, Will." Faith said worriedly.



"What's wrong?" Buffy asked hugging her.



"They've been climbing up the Fayth Scar. I'm worried they'll defile our sacred ground."



"Don't worry we'll check it out, and throw any goons off the mountain." Willow grinned when Buffy nodded.



"Just be careful. There are some dangerous fiends running around up there, too."



Taking Faith's advice the girls stayed on guard with weapons ready. Half way up the mountain four Bomb fiends flew toward them. Willow froze two of them with a Blizzaga spell, Buffy threw an Icefall mix at the other two, and Tara shot and shattered them.



With no more fiends blocking their path the girls made it to the Fayth Scar, and saw a fem-goon jumping up to the top.



"I can't believe we've gotta climb this!" Buffy whined.



"Yeah, no wonder the Dragon Clan never comes here." Willow said and jumped up on a ledge.



Tara followed next with Buffy behind her; Willow continued climbing and jumping her way to the top, and lost site of the goon. Shrugging her shoulders she jumped twice more and saw an opening, she waited for the others before proceeding in. The girls found themselves high above two fem-goons and a pool of water.



"This feels great!" A half naked goon said as she stepped out of the water and got dressed.



"Isn't this place sacred grounds of the Dragons? I don't think this was a good idea." The other said stepping out of the water.



"What? Ya scared that a Dragon boogie man is gonna get you?"



"Come on you two! Let's get going!" Ormi said walking in.



"Yes sir!" The goons said and screamed, when they heard a loud splash and terrified screaming, and ran off.



The rock the girls had been standing on had given away under the combined weight and fell into the water below.



"Is this?" Tara asked as she stood up.



"A hot spring?" Buffy finished.



"Hey, they forgot a couple of something’s!" Willow said pointing to two uniforms.



"Sweet! That was easy." Buffy giggled and fell back into the water sighing.



Willow took everything but her bra and panties off, and sat down in the hot water. Tara and Buffy had also stripped down to their underwear and was relaxing beside her.



"This feels so good." Buffy sighed



"I don't wanna get out... but I know we have to." Willow said leaning against a rock under the water.



"Feels good? Buffy, you leave the receiver on again? I don’t wanna hear you kissing!" Dawn asked making gagging noises



"No! We're swimming!"



"I wanna swim too!"



"Too late! We're getting out!"



"Oui zang!" (You jerk!) Dawn shouted and shut the receiver off.



When the girls stepped outside they saw the two fem-goons jumping down the mountainside with Ormi right behind them.



“Serves ‘em right!” Buffy laughed, “They shouldn’t be screwing around the mountain.”



“Dawn, you can pick us up, we have the uniforms.” Tara said into her receiver.



“On our way.” Dawn said as the engine hummed to life in the background.



After getting back on the airship the girls put the uniforms on and ran up to the bridge. Mizu gave them the once over and nodded with a smile. Shinra gave them two thumbs up, as Dawn jumped out of the pilots seat and turned.



"Well, how do we look?" Tara asked as Buffy turned in a circle.



"Great!" Dawn answered and laughed like a maniac



"We're off to Chateau Leblanc!" Buffy said dancing around happily and a little crazily



"Time to settle the score." Willow grinned evilly as Dawn got back in her seat and headed toward Guadosalam.



Dawn let the girls off at the entrance of Guadosalam in the Thunder Plains, and watched them go before she lifted the ship into the air, and heading toward Macalania Woods to wait.



"I hope this works." Tara said as they walked into the small city.



"I think we need to worry only if we're caught." Willow snorted "But they're morons, so, I don't think we have to worry at all."



"Got that right!" Buffy said and approached the two guards. "Reporting for duty!"



"Whatever, just get inside." The guard on the right said as the other opened the door.



Holding back their laughter the girls walked inside and waited for the door to close before high-fiving each other.



"Another smashing success!" Buffy giggled



"Remember we're not done yet. We gotta find the sphere." Willow said before grabbing Tara and Buffy and pulling them up the left set of stairs. The living room door opened just as the girls ducked, and Leblanc and Nooj walked out.



"Thank you, Leblanc." Nooj said limping into the front room.



Leblanc smiled sexily "Anything for you, love."



"Now I finally know where Vegnagun is located. Spira is in for a rough ride." He said and kissed Leblanc's cheek. "Take care."



"Yes, love." Leblanc sighed watching him walk out the door. "Oh, how long must w be apart? These days without you are not easy, love." she said and walked up the right set of stairs.



Watching Leblanc step inside her room the girls walked into the room she and Nooj had came out of, and found Ormi and Logos talking.



"The boss is different when Nooj shows up, huh?" Ormi said and leaned against the wall.



"Suppressing her natural charm and acting like a housewife... That must make her tense." Logos was examining the left wall as he spoke, before turning to look at the girls. "You there." He pointed to Tara. "Go to the boss's chamber and tend to your duties."



"Huh? What duties?" Tara asked slightly confused.



"You know... use your talents to help you, uh, unwind."



"Okay..." Tara trailed off as she turned and headed out the door with the others following. Walking up the steps they ran into another goon who looked them over.



"Ah, it's that time already, huh? Well, don't hold back, make her scream." He laughed making the girls wonder what he was talking about, and hoping it wasn't what they were thinking.



Inside the room Leblanc was staring at a statue of Nooj, "I'm waiting, love." she said and kissed the statue. When she turned she pointed to Tara "I'm waiting." she disrobed causing the girls to close their eyes and shudder as she lay down on her bed. "Give me my massage! Now!"



Willow and Tara stepped back and pushed Buffy forward. Turning she shook her fist at them and sighed as she straddled Leblanc's back. Leblanc gave a pleasurable moan making Buffy shiver as she began rubbing her back.



"Ahhh! That hurts! Watch it!" Leblanc screamed when Buffy pressed too hard on her lower back.



"Sorry." Buffy held back her giggles and continued the massage.



"Ohhh, that feels sooo good. When did you get so good at this?"



"Uh... I, um... I-I dunno."



"Noojie-Woojie is such a manly man, don't you think?" He can be blunt, but that just makes his occasional smile all the more irresistible! That smile... That's the reason I became a sphere hunter. If only there were some miracle sphere... something, anything thing that could make him truly happy. I would give anything..."



"Buffy stopped and looked down. "She... fell asleep... I'm that good? Cool!" she gently got of the bed and turned to find Willow and Tara in a lip-lock, and groping each other. Sighing she pulled them apart and out of the room.



"The boss fell asleep again, didn't she?" He sighed and stepped past the girls.



"Dammit! And we's been waiting for her, too, said she had something important to tell us." Ormi said following Logos into the room.



"Well, we'll just have to wait a little longer." Logos said and turned to the girls. "You three go make sure the switch panel is working."



"Switch?" Willow asked cocking her head to the right.



Ormi sighed as he turned "The back of the living room! Same one as always!"



In the living room the girls searched the walls and found a hidden switch where Logos had been standing before. Pressing the switch Tara stepped back as a picture rose up.



"What a freaking let down!" Buffy almost shouted kicking the wall, and fell through as the wall turned. Ouch!" her voice echoed down the corridor.



"Buffy! You okay?" Willow asked helping her to stand.



"I guess..."



"I've been in this thing far too long!" Tara said and ripped the uniform down the front.



"Got that right!" Buffy said as she and Willow discarded their own uniforms just as Dawn's voice came over the receiver.



"How's it going?"



"Be quiet! This is a covert operation! Over and out!" Buffy said whispering in an almost shout.



"Buffy!" Dawn shouted "Don't talk to me like a kid! I will tell mother!"



"Ooh! Shut up, already!" Buffy shouted and flinched as her voice echoed



"Who's there?" Ormi's voice said from the doorway "Ah! The Gullwings!"



"Uh-oh!" Tara and Willow said watching him descend the stairs.



"Well shit!" Buffy said and threw a smoke bomb and a flashbomb, before pulling the others behind her down the hall.



Buffy quickly opened a door around the bend and shoved Tara in first, closely followed by Willow and shut the door behind her.



"Next time you do that I'll poke you with my sword." Willow teased



"Oh, calm down, or I'll get Picket to follow us around." Buffy grinned as Willow glared at her.



Tara picked a sphere up from the dresser and turned around. "If you both don't be quite I'll tell Aunt Joyce to make her special lizard and bat wing stew."



Willow looked at her horrified as Buffy made gagging sounds. "You wouldn't do that to us! You and Dawn would have to eat it too!" Willow nearly shouted and shivered at the thought.



"Hell no I won't!" Dawn said over the receiver as Tara shook her head.



"Nope, me and Dawn would have her fix something else." Tara grinned, "Anyway, look at this." she said and held the sphere up.



"That isn't the one they stole." Buffy said examining the sphere.



"Either way, let's watch it." Willow said and Tara pressed the button.



[Sphere]



An image of a dark place with pyreflies floating around, and bodies lying all over the ground appeared. They could hear Ormi's voice speaking in the background as the sphere was being turned from left to right.



"Total survivors of the final Crimson Squad selection exercise: zero, zilch, and zip. Job done."



"You pinhead!" Logos voice said in the background "Did you even count? Look, there are bodies missing. There should be three more candidates here, but they are not!"



"Your point?"



"Three more still live. Fix it!"



[End of sphere]



"What the hell was that?" Buffy asked as the image disappeared.



"Crimson Squad? I heard some of the men and women talking about it... but it was, umm..." Willow trailed off.



"What?" Tara asked rubbing Willow's back.



"It was around the time of Operation Mi'ihen. When the Crusaders and the Al Bhed tried to destroy Sin, two years ago. I didn't think nothing of it at the time... after seeing that I remembered.



"Only naughty girls would scrounge through other people's bedrooms." Logos said from the doorway cocking his pistols.



"What about you?! You're the ones who broke into our airship!" Buffy shouted angrily.



"The boss's orders are permission enough!" Logos said and pulled the triggers. One round hit Buffy's shoulder, and the other went wide lodging into the back wall.



Tara fired at his feet as a giant ball of water appeared over his head and splashed over his body. Willow grinned and cast a Blizzard spell freezing the water, and Logos in place. Buffy laughed through the pain in her shoulder as Tara healed the wound.



"Later, ice-man!" Willow said and stepped around him with Tara behind her.



"That'll teach ya, now won't it?" Buffy grinned and tapped his nose with the tip of her blade as she stepped past him.



Red lights began to blink as an alarm sounded and a recording spoke saying the 'Booby Traps' were armed. Sighing Tara shook her head as Willow took lead and Buffy followed behind. They followed the hallway down to a 'T' section with a door to the left, and a bend to the right. Nearing the door the girls saw a light blue square on the right wall.



"I wonder what this does?" Buffy asked pushing the button before Willow or Tara could stop her.



The door faded into the wall, as large foot-long spikes shot out causing the girls to scream and run back down the hall. The wall continued to move following the girl's path, the floor near the bend slid down taking the girls with it. Sighing in relief they stopped as the spiked wall stopped but screamed and began running again, when the wall dropped down.



"I'm too young to die!" Buffy screamed when they came to a dead end.



"Your fault, you shouldn't have pushed that button." Willow said grinning as Buffy leaned against the wall and looked at her.



"What're you so happy about!? We're about to die-" Buffy was cut off as the wall opened and she fell into a room, the door shut just as the spikes reached it.



The room was circular in shape with chests scattered all across the room, and a single bed in the middle. There was a balcony circling around the top of the room with more boxes, and chests. Buffy was going through one of the chests, Tara looked through one of the boxes on the floor, and Willow was looking through a chest from under the bed.



"Found it!" Willow and Buffy shout causing Tara to glance at them confused.



"I get it now." Willow said seeing the second half of the sphere. "I wondered why they'd bother stealing half of a sphere."



"They already had the other half." Tara said and turned as a hidden door opened.



"Very good, loves." Leblanc said stepping into the room with Logos and Ormi behind her. "I went through a lot of trouble gathering those pieces-all for Noojie-Woojie. So don't lay a finger on it! Let's get 'em boys!"



Willow cast a low level Water spell over Logos who dodged to the right as the water dropped down, and fired at her. Tara was firing her pistols at their feet trying not to hurt them, as Buffy threw a Pineapple grenade. Everyone ducked as the bomb went off; hurriedly standing Willow cast three low level Blizzard spells effectively ending the fight.



"Well? Want another helping of your just desserts?" Buffy asked standing up with her knives in hand.



"You know, no one's gonna hear you scream from down here." Willow grinned drawing her sword



"W-Wait!" Leblanc shouted then sighed, "I'll let you see what's in the sphere!"



"Let us?" Willow asked dangerously as she cut into a wooden box.



"Please, the sphere is yours to watch." Leblanc said watching the box fall into equal halves.



"Thank you." Tara grinned and pressed the button on the sphere.



[Sphere]



An image of a large chamber appeared with several balconies leading to doors all around the room. A black walkway with lights on either side lead to the giant Vegnagun machina, as large machina machines worked in the background.



[End of Sphere]



"That is the colossus Vegnagun. We've finished the analysis of the sphere. And it appears to have been recorded underneath Bevelle." Leblanc said after the image disappeared.



Willow shook her head as she wrapped her arms around Tara from behind and sighed. "I see Bevelle is still has a fondness for secrets."



"Exactly! Those Yevon scum have been hiding that weapon all along... If anyone uses that thing, Spira is done for."



"But it's just a machina! All we gotta do is shakey-shake our way up to it and take it apart!" Buffy said excitedly.



"That's what my Noojie's got in mind. And of course, whatever he's planning is what I'm planning. Now, what about you?" Leblanc asked looking at Tara.



"Me? Why me?"



"The Summoner who defeated Sin ought to stand up and defend Spira again, don't you think?"



"Wait just a second! Tara isn't going to do what you say!" Willow said stepping around Tara and gripping her sword.



"No, Will, she's right." Tara placed her hand on Willow's shoulder. "I should." she said causing Willow to slump her shoulders and sigh.



"Well, now that we're on the same side, we'll be waiting for you."



"Waiting where?" Buffy asked glaring at Leblanc.



"Where else? On your airship! I've always wanted to take a spin on that thing!"



"Ever heard of asking first?" Buffy asked to her retreating back.



"Sin is gone. The Calm is here... I thought our peaceful days would never end. The Eternal Calm. I really believed it would last forever... but now I realize how fragile it can be." Tara said as she leaned into Willow's arms.



"Don't worry. It will last, all we have to do is take care of that machina... and then maybe we can make the villagers happy." Willow said making Tara giggle.



"Hmm, a little mini-Willow running around. That sounds good."



"Hey! It just might be a mini-Tara running around, you never know."



"Come on, love-birds! You can talk about mini-yous later. Right now, we gotta get back to the ship." Buffy said and ran off.

So the girls are going to work with Leblanc... I don't know, maybe it's just because I don't like her, but I don't think that's a very good idea.



And now they're going to look for the colossus Vegnagun.



I have to say that Glory + Dream + Vegnagun + Bevelle = Badness. But thinking of a mini Tara or mini Willow was sweet, but I guess I'll have to wait a while for that.

Chapter Seventeen: Vegnagun’s Chamber



The girls entered the bridge and saw Dawn facing Leblanc shaking her fist. Shinra was trying to keep Ormi away from his computer consol, and Mizu was pushing Logos away from the map screen. Ormi huffed and walked up behind Leblanc, meeting a very pissed off Logos.



"Just you wait, blondie!" Dawn shouted as Leblanc tried to sit in the pilots seat. "My seat! Not yours!"



"Don't get your panties in a bunch, love, I'm only looking."



Dawn growled with a harsh glare "Y uikrd du gelg ouin ycc!" (I ought to kick your ass!)



"What is this little girl saying?" Leblanc asked as she sat down.



"Kad yfyo vnus so cayd, ricco!" (Get away from my seat, hussy!) Dawn growled and pulled Leblanc out of the pilots seat.



Leblanc sighed and shook her head. "Barbarian! And the name's Leblanc, not Ricco!"



"Could've fooled me." Willow whispered causing Tara and Buffy to stifle their laughter.



"Tara, where next?" Dawn asked grinning like a shark and making Buffy proud.



Seeing the grin Willow backed up and leaned against the wall beside Buffy, and pulled Tara with her.



"Bevelle." Tara said and relaxed into Willow's arms and watched as Leblanc, Ormi and Logos were nearly flattened against the floor. They stood and glared at Dawn right before they were thrown back against the wall beside Buffy.



Looking over at them Buffy smiled sweetly, "Forgot to mention: She drives like a speed fiend." she said and got a glare from Leblanc.



"Zicd mega oui cec!" (Just like you sis!) Dawn smiled over her shoulder



"Got that right." Willow whispered to Tara causing her to giggle and nod.



Dawn had flown as close to Bevelle as she could and let the girls and Leblanc and her two goons off in Macalania Woods. When the cargo door closed she took off toward the Calm Lands to wait for their signal. As they walked toward the temple the priests would turn their heads, so as not to look at or even speak to the group. Tara lowered her head sadly as Willow placed a comforting arm around her waist.



"How we gonna do this?" Buffy asked when they stopped near the door leading to the temple.



"Isn't it obvious? We nab the head honcho. Then, we make him lead us to Vegnagun, and checkmate." Leblanc said like it was the easiest thing in Spira to do.



"Not bad... but isn't that dangerous?" Tara asked worriedly



"I got no problem with it. Our target is the New Yevon praetor, Baralai!" Ormi said readying his shield.



Logos pulled drew his pistols. "A girly man like that doesn't stand a chance without his escort."



"We'd better be careful though. I'm thinking he's stronger than he looks." Willow said and turned when she heard footsteps.



"Who goes there?" A guard asked then raised his gun "It's those Youth League spies!"



"Well, good luck!" Leblanc said as she, Ormi and Logos ran off.



"Good luck? Get back here!" Willow shouted as she pulled her sword. "Look guys, we just wanna talk."



"Get 'em!"



Sighing Willow side flipped dodging the rounds as Tara fired her pistols keeping the guard from advancing. Buffy threw a Waterfall mix at the guard as Willow froze it, and the guard in place. Buffy smiled at the frozen guard as they passed by, and through the door into the temple.



"Looks like things are a mess." Willow said as they got on the lift to the Trials.



"Yeah." Tara said as the lift took them down.



When the lift stopped they stepped on to the walkway and Buffy jumped back as a fiend landed in front of her. Willow drew her sword and severed lizards head, and watched it disappear into souls.



"What the hell are fiends doing in the temple?" Buffy shouted dodging a Bomb and cutting it in half with her sword.



"Remember the temples and Yevon reek of secrets. Don't let a couple of fiends fool you." Willow said severing the head off another lizard.



Tara shot down four bird fiends as they ran toward another lift. Willow screamed in pain as a Sahagin latched on to her leg. Turning Tara fired three rounds into its head, and healed Willow's wound as the fiend disappeared.



The lift stopped at the Fayth's chamber and the girls proceeded in. Their eyes went wide when they saw a hole where the Bahamut statue used to be. Looking down into the hole they saw an underground section, and jumped down.



They found themselves on a balcony overlooking several giant machina machines fifty-feet below. Leblanc, Ormi, and Logos fell from the Fayth's chamber and looked around.



"Watch the exit." Tara said when she saw a way down.



"I don't take orders." Leblanc said with a glare. An alarm sounded as a voice spoke over the intercom the security system had been activated. "Know what, we'll watch the exit."



"Thought so." Buffy shook her head and followed Tara's lead.



Tara jumped on to a large chain and slid down to the bottom, Willow grinned when she thought back two years ago as she slid down. When they reached the bottom they dodged the giant machina soldiers, and ran to the security system.



Finding three different systems they split up to deactivate each one at the same time. A bright white lit up the middle of the room as three steps appeared leading to a door twenty-feet down.



Taking the steps down led them into a room with a working machina arm moving large parts, and more machina soldiers.



"Hey! That sphere with Glory on it. Wasn't it recorded here?" Buffy asked pointing to the machina, and a cage at the top.



"Move your asses!" Leblanc said as she passed by.



"I thought you were going to wait at the exit." Willow asked glaring.



"Whatever. Ormi! Start recording!"



"Yes, boss."



Walking around the machina led to another door and another hallway, following it led to four platforms the girls jumped over. When Buffy landed they heard footsteps and waited.



"The Gullwings? I was wondering who was down here." Baralai said as he turned the corner and stopped. "I know why you're here. You want to destroy Vegnagun. Am I right?" He asked and the girls nodded. "If it could be destroyed we would have already done it. But Vegnagun must not be touched. Neither you nor Nooj seem to understand that."



"You've talked to Nooj?" Willow asked confused.



"He...cannot be trusted."



"What? And you can?" Buffy snorted.



Baralai sighed shaking his head, "Touché. I suppose Yevon has brought distrust upon itself. Anyway, you need not interfere. Leave Vegnagun to me."



"What are you planning to do?" Tara asked lowering her hands to her pistols.



"The only thing I can do," Baralai said raising his staff, "Keep those who seek to harm Vegnagun away. Now, please leave."



"Tara. Buffy. I'm going."



"Right behind ya, Will!" Buffy grinned as Tara nodded.



Baralai swung at Willow nearly taking her head off, as Tara shot the tip of his staff off. Willow rose up and blocked another attack with her sword, and kicked Baralai's feet out from under him. Twisting his body Baralai brought her down with him, and punched her in the face.



Willow rolled away holding her broken nose as Buffy kicked Baralai in the ribs. Raising his hand a Fire spell knocked Buffy away as he rose and turned to Tara.



Willow ran at him and was knocked back by a Thunder spell, Tara fired one round and Baralai hit the floor. Concentrating she cast a healing spell over Willow and Buffy, as they both rose from the floor. Looking down at Baralai she sighed.



"I'm sorry, but we must stop Vegnagun."



"You won't get near him!" Baralai said and screamed as Buffy stepped on his foot where Tara had shot him.



"Whoops! Sorry." she grinned and walked by with Willow and Tara behind her.



They followed the walkway into Vegnagun's chamber and saw thousands of pyreflies floating around, and a deep dark hundred-foot-round hole in the middle of the room. As they looked down the hole a huge black shape fast as lightning shot up and into the air, and slowly floated down in front of them.



"No way!" Buffy shouted backing up with a horrified look on her face.



"It can't...be!" Willow said with wide eyes.



"Bahamut..." Tara quietly said and extended her arms out. "You must stop!"



Willow grabbed her and pulled her back. "I'm sorry, but we have no choice! And I'm not gonna see you get killed trying to reason with him!"



Bahamut roared as he landed on the walkway and swiped at Buffy. Back flipping away from the giant clawed hand she threw a Firestorm mix, and watched the flames dance over his body. Before drawing her sword, Willow infused one of Tara's pistols and her own sword with a Flare spell. Willow dodged Bahamut's hand, and swung her sword leaving a deep cut along his chest.



Tara infused her other pistol with a Holy spell and fired on the once great Aeon. Bahamut roared as the two spells combined hit his chest and face. Turning in a complete circle he used his tail to knock Willow and Buffy away. Buffy fell over the edge of the walkway and dangled over the hole barely hanging on to the ledge. Tara back flipped dodging the second tail-swipe and continued firing, as Willow pulled Buffy back on the walkway.



Bahamut roared again and fell on all fours as the wheel on his back began to turn, and gather energy. Willow whispered something to Buffy, and ran to Tara, nodding the girls lined up. Buffy mixed up a Winterstorm and threw it, just as Willow doublecast two Flare spells, and Tara doublecast two Holy spells.



The spells and mix hit Bahamut at the same time and exploded throwing the girls back twenty-feet, as the room lit up like daylight. When the light died down Bahamut was gone and in his place was more pyreflies.



"Why is this happening?" Tara sadly asked sitting up as a tear rolled down her cheek.



Willow walked over and wrapped her arms around Tara and pulled her into her lap. "I don't know, baby. But we'll find out... Your Calm will last… that I promise you." Willow said and softly kissed Tara's forehead.



"You were right. We had to fight, didn't we?" Tara quietly asked as she laid her head on Willow's shoulder.



Buffy watched Tara silently cry, and Willow comfort her before turning her head and walking over to the giant hole. She silently stared into the hole as a single teardrop fell into the dark abyss.



"Nothing..." Shaking her head she turned and came face to face with Willow and screamed. "Don't do that! You scared the hell outta me!" she said putting her hand to her heart trying to calm down.



"Sorry, but we thought you had been turned to stone." Willow laughed making Tara smile just a little.



"Whatever."



"This hole was made recently." Tara said as she looked down into the darkness.



"You think it was Vegnagun? Unreal... How deep do you think it goes?"



"Oh hell..." Willow groaned.



"What?" Buffy asked turning and then groaned.



"What? Where's Vegnagun?" Leblanc asked approaching them.



"Not here." Tara said before turning around.



"It must have fled in terror, knowing I was coming." Leblanc said causing Willow to roll her eyes with a snort.



"I don't think so." Buffy said pushing the urge down to throw Leblanc into the hole.



"I must report this to Noojie-Woojie at once! Boys, record this. And don't miss a single detail!"



"Yes, boss."



"I wonder if Vegnagun was really here?" Willow asked turning toward the hole.



"This isn't how it was supposed to be. The Eternal Calm... I can feel it crumbling, falling away from beneath our feet." Tara quietly spoke causing Willow and Buffy to turn around.



"Don't say that... The Eternal Calm will not end." Willow said cupping Tara's face and softly kissing her lips. "We will stop Vegnagun."



"Wills right! So, don't worry!" Buffy said as her receiver crackled to life.



"Tara! Willow! Buffy! Dra cred ryc red dra vyh!" (The shit has hit the fan!)



"Dawn! Fryd fuimt sudran cyo ypuid ouin suidr?" (What would mother say about your mouth?) Buffy shouted over the receiver.



"Dryd E'ja paah ynuiht oui yht Faith duu muhk." (That I've been around you and Faith too long.) Dawn responded causing Buffy to growl, and Willow and Tara to laugh. "Rinno pylg!" (Hurry back!)



The girls ran off leaving Leblanc and her goons to find their own way back.

Chapter Eighteen: More Trouble



When the girls boarded the airship they could hear the alarm going off, and the red lights flashing. They raced to the bridge where they found Shinra speedily working on his computer pulling up file after file. Mizu was reading the reports she'd printed out, and Dawn was pacing back and forth in front of her seat.



"What's wrong?" Buffy asked worriedly



"Trouble," Mizu said turning with reports in hand, "and I mean big time! Fiends are pouring out of the temples!"



"What?" Both Willow and Tara asked at the same time disbelievingly



"Which ones?" Buffy asked with wide eyes.



Dawn stopped her pacing and glanced at the girls. "All of them! It's a freakin' state of emergency!" Dawn threw her hands in the air. "What do you wanna do? You wanna help?"



"Not exactly sphere hunter work." Shinra said standing up in his seat.



"That's true." Mizu said laying the reports down. "But if the people saw Tara out there, it might calm them down."



Willow shook her head, "Yeah, and they'll expect her to do the dirty work."



"But I think we should help." Tara softly spoke



"I got an idea. We can be 'Your Friendly Neighborhood Gullwings'!" Buffy said excitedly



"What, you mean charging for killing the fiends?" Mizu asked getting a nod from Buffy.



"E mega ed!" (I like it!) Dawn smiled



"Tara, what do you think?" Willow asked taking Tara's hand.



"Why not? If it means we can help out the people in trouble, then sure."



"Okay, then the sphere hunting's on hold!" Buffy said grabbing more supplies for her mixes.



"Where to?" Mizu asked sitting in her chair, "Hold up! What the hell?"



"What?" Dawn asked starting the ship up.



"Meyvn Nooj and Praetor Baralai... are missing. They've disappeared!"



"That's weird..." Tara said and read the report over Mizu's shoulder.



"There's a report asking for help from the Calm Lands gorge."



"That's where we'll start, Dawn please take us to the Calm Lands." Tara said and turned to Willow, "The stolen Fayth, you think?"



"Yeah." Willow nodded.



Landing the ship near the gorge had been a problem people were running out of the cavern in groups, and blocking the airship from landing. The girls watched out the side window as men, women, and children were being carried out in blood stained clothing.



Dawn sighed when the people finally moved and let her land the ship. An older man came running over to meet them as they exited the ship.



"Fiends! They're coming from deep within the cave!"



"There are still people trapped inside! And there's nothing we can do to help them!" A younger man said running over with an older woman behind him.



"Will you please rescue the people left behind?" The old woman asked glancing from Buffy, to Willow, and finally letting her eyes set on Tara.



Glancing around at the wounded people Tara sighed and nodded. "All right, we'll help."



The old woman smiled gratefully and bowed, "You are very kind."



"Go on, I'll talk about our price." Mizu said and watched the girls run inside the cave.



Once inside the cave the girls followed the same path they'd took two years before, but turned right instead of left. In the very back of the right hallway they found two wounded men, four children, and three women. Tara cast a healing spell on the men's wounds before the girls led the people out of the cave, killing any and all fiends that got in the way.



"It's their fault." Willow said turning around ready to lead the way back to the chamber.



"What is?" Buffy asked watching Tara draw her pistols, and shoot a canine fiend.



"For turning a place like this into a tourist attraction."



"I see your point." Buffy said dodging a Bomb as Willow cast a Blizzaga spell freezing it.



Turning around Tara fired one round shattering it, "Why can't they just leave things alone?" Tara asked then fired two more rounds into a Yellow Element, as willow cast a Watera spell.



Reaching the Fayth's chamber Tara sighed and stepped inside with Willow and Buffy close to her. The Death Dragon Fayth was floating over a deep black hole in the ground. He looked each girl over before pulling a sword, and swiping at Tara. Willow fast as lightning blocked the attack that would have killed Tara, and punched the solid body of the Fayth.



Infusing both pistols with Holy magic Tara fired a round into the Fayth's chest as he shoved Willow away. The spell exploded knocking the Fayth back against the wall, and to the floor.



As he rose, the Fayth cast a Bio spell poisoning Tara, and kicked dirt in her face to blind her. Stumbling back Tara fell to the ground as Buffy stepped in front of her, and threw a Soul Stealer mix, a giant swirling red and green vortex opened up behind him and a giant hand reached out.



The Fayth screamed as the hand grabbed him, and pulled him into the magic vortex and back into the Farplane. Willow had helped Tara to drink an Antidote to kill the poison in her body, and helped her to sit up. Buffy tossed a vile of Eye Drops to Willow before looking into the hole. Tara closed her eyes against the healing pain of the drops, as Willow helped her to stand.



"Why is this happening?" Tara quietly asked as she opened her eyes



"Don't know... but we'll stop it."



"Hello!" Buffy shouted down the hole and heard her voice echo and re-echo.



"Careful. Someone might answer back." Willow grinned when she saw the spooked look on Buffy's face.



Seeing nothing but pyreflies floating up from the hole, and finding nothing to help the girls left the chamber. With the Fayth gone there were no more fiends in the cave to fight as they proceeded outside. The older man and woman ran over to meet them, and bowed.



"We can't thank you enough for your help." The woman said as she rose



"I promise we won't be doing business here anymore." The man lowered his head. "Shouldn't have in the first place... I'm sorry."



"Guys! Hurry back! Macalania Shop needs our help!" Mizu said over the receiver as the airship roared to life.



Dawn gave the girls enough time to get on the ship, but took off with the cargo door still open. The girls hung on to a rope as Dawn circled around the woods and landed near the frozen lake. They could see several fiends attacking the shop, and the Al Bhed.



"There's no temple here! Not any more!" Tara said surprised as two Ice Flans slithered toward them.



"The fact that it's underwater must not matter." Willow said cast two Fira spells and dodging a giant black and gray bird.



"Worry about it later! We gotta help them!" Buffy shouted dodging a canine fiend, and watching as one of the Al Bhed men got his throat ripped out.



Tara dodged the bird and drew her pistols firing on the fiend, three rounds buried in its chest and a fourth hit its large head. Willow back flipped as the fiend fell to the ground landing on top of a canine fiend killing it. Both fiends exploded into souls and disappeared, as Buffy killed four more Ice Flans with a Firestorm mix.



Willow screamed and fell into the snow as a Chimera cast a Thunder spell on her, and rolled to the side as its massive paw tried to crush her head. The fiend was thrown back when Tara fired seven Holy infused rounds into its chest, and Buffy threw a Waterfall mix hitting its head. Rising from the ground Willow looked around.



"Think that’s all of 'em?"



"I hope so." Buffy said as they headed toward the shop.



Reaching the door Buffy shook her head when she saw the Al Bhed lying in the blood soaked snow. Willow slowly opened the door, she saw another man sitting against the wall with blood surrounding his body. He looked up and saw the girls entering and tried to raise his hand.



"Fryd fyc ed? Dryd rika cryba, taab fedreh dra myga. E fiend... un machina?" (What is it? That huge shape, deep within the lake. A fiend... or machina?)



"Don't talk. Save your strength." Buffy said to the badly wounded man



"Dyga ed. Vuiht ed rayn... myga." (Take it. Found it near... lake.) The man handed Buffy a sphere before dying.



O'aka walked in and looked around the destroyed shop, "I'll... keep their bodies safe till the other Al Bhed can pick them up."



Buffy only nodded as she passed by with her head down.



"Thanks." Willow said watching Tara follow Buffy back to the airship, before helping move the bodies to a safe area.



When she entered the bridge a little later she found it very quiet, and decided to let it stay that way. She sat down on the floor and laid her head on Tara's shoulder, as the others silently said goodbye to the Al Bhed men.



An hour later, and not being able to take the silence any longer Willow stood and began to pace the bridge. She could feel the eyes of everyone in the room watching her, and stopped.



“I think it’s time to get Faith… with fiends coming out of the temples, and whatever the hell else is going on we’re going to need her.”



“I agree, with Faith with us, we’ll be stronger.” Tara said as a message popped up on Mizu’s control panel.



Reading it over she sighed. “Nhadala wants to see us. She says another group of diggers were attacked and killed.”



“Let’s get Faith, and then go to Bikanel Desert, okay?” Willow asked pointedly looking from Buffy to Dawn.



“Yeah, okay.” Buffy said as Dawn raised the ship into the air and headed for Gagazet.

Chapter Nineteen: Inside Gagazet and the Bikanel Desert Fiend



Dawn landed the ship down on the Gagazet path and helped Mizu check the reports, and Shinra with the fiend reports. While they were working on the fiend reports, the girls had hurried over to a secret opening in the side of the mountain. Pressing a small rock on the right, Buffy stepped back as a section of rock smoothly slid up.



The home of the Dragon Clan was much like Guadosalam, only bigger around and taller. A set of stairs led up six levels with stone railing around each level. Each level was painted a different color. The first level where the girls were standing had been painted brown. The second level was green. The third level was painted dark blue. The fourth level was white. The fifth level was black. And the sixth level was sky blue.



There were holes cut in the rock with wooden doors leading into the homes. There was one small Item/Weapon shop on the bottom floor right in the center. As the girls walked into the city Buffy was explaining the colors for each level. Brown equaled the Earth, green was for Forest, dark blue was for the Ocean. White was for all Life, black was for Death, and sky blue was for Peace.



Each Dragon chooses to live on a level that fit their life. For some of the ones who’d lost family two years before at Glory’s hand, chose to live on the death level to show mourning. For the Dragons that were more in tune with the earth, they lived on the earth level. One’s in tune with the forest and plants lived on the green level. The Dragons with the power of water lived on the ocean level; one’s with no intention to fight lived on the peace level. And the new parents and their families lived on the life level.



For a long while Faith had lived on the Death level to mourn the loss of Harmony and Hallie, but moved down to the Forest level a year ago. Buffy led them to a small dark purple door and knocked, she said the purple door meant that Faith had learned the fiends’ way of fighting. When the door opened Buffy latched on to Faith giving her a loving kiss before letting Willow and Tara inside.



Walking into Faith’s home they saw a bookshelf full of different books on the left beside a door leading to a bedroom. There was a sofa in the middle of the room with a small end table on each side. And two small reclining chairs sat near the sofa with a small table beside each one. The back wall was covered in several different spears, swords, daggers, knives, and staffs, all very sharp and dangerous looking. The kitchen was on the right, with something cooking on the stove.



“So what brings ya’ll here?” Faith asked as she sat down in one of the recliners with Buffy sitting in her lap.



Willow sat down and pulled Tara into her lap before she spoke, “We need your help.”



Faith straightened up with a serious look on her face. “What’s wrong?”



As the girls told Faith what was going on away from Gagazet, something very weird was going on in the airship. The printed out reports flew into the air and fell to the floor as Dawn jumped and screamed.



Mizu turned in her seat, and her eyes went wide as she ducked under her consol. Shinra had stood up in his seat to see what was going on, and immediately jumped down and slid under his consol. Dawn was frozen in place scared half to death, as the transparent form of Mythe struggled against unseen bonds.



After a few tries she gave up and turned her sad blue eyes to Dawn, she mouthed one word before she vanished. Dawn shakily walked to the pilots seat and sat down fighting the urge to call Buffy and crawl into her protective arms. But no she wouldn’t do that she was a big girl now, and didn’t need to call on her big sister every time something scared her. No she would wait with the two chickens that were still hiding.



Faith had stood and began to pace around the living room all the while thinking. Buffy had headed into the kitchen, closely followed by Tara, who was afraid she’d blow something up if she tried to cook. Willow heard Faith sigh just before sitting down, and look to her.



“Okay, problem number one: There’s a huge machina on the lose, and you don’t know where it is… and Yevon was hiding it.” Faith said getting a nod from Willow. “Problem number two: A huge fiend is attacking, and killing the diggers in Bikanel.” Again Willow nodded. “Problem three: The flow to the Farplane is blocked, and it needs to be stopped. Problem four: Fiends are pouring out of the temples, right?”



“You got it.”



“Have I missed anything?”



“The Aeons, the dreams… and Omega Island.”



“Forgot about them… Problem five: You’ve had to fight the Death Dragon, and Bahamut. You, Tara, and Buffy all had the same freaky dream. And there’s a psycho island, with a nut-ball trapped and wanting to get out.”



“Yep, that’s about it.”



“Well fuck! What in the name of Ifrit’s Hellfire is going on!?”



Willow shook her head with a sigh. “That we don’t know… both Meyvn Nooj and Praetor Baralai are now missing. So, there’s no way to get any information from them, unless we find them. But finding them is not very high on our list at the moment. Baralai can become a fiend for all I care… and I really don’t want to see Nooj anytime soon.”



Faith nodded understanding what she was saying, after hearing everything she wasn’t in the mood to meet them either. Standing up she eyed the weapons on the back wall for a moment before walking over.



She grabbed a six-foot long spear with a star shaped blade, and gold and blue feathers strapped below the blade. She opened a drawer and pulled out a pair of small brown and green diamond shaped arm armor, and strapped them on each wrist.



Opening the bottom drawer she pulled out a pair of silver and gold shin guards, and strapped them on. Grabbing a leather belt with two pouches on it she put it on, and set Potions, Antidotes, and other healing items in the pouches. Next she put her leather chest armor on and turned around with her weapon the Spirit Lance in hand, and nodded to Willow as Tara stepped out of the kitchen.



“Let’s go save Spira!” Faith said smirking and made her way to the front door.



Buffy ran out of the kitchen eating a bowl of stew and grinned. Willow shook her head, as Buffy seemed in inhale the rest of the stew, then wash the bowl before following them outside. Faith spoke to the Clan Elder before leaving with the girls.



When they boarded the ship it was too quiet, by now they thought someone would be screaming at the others. Running up to the deck they found Dawn holding one of Willow’s swords and one of Buffy’s knives. Mizu and Shinra each had Al Bhed machine guns pointed at the center of the room, and all were shaking.



When they saw the girls they lowered their weapons, and began talking at the same time. With three voices franticly speaking the girls couldn’t understand a word of what was being said. Getting enough of it Buffy shouted for them to quiet down, and speak one at a time.



“Spook! Spirit! Ghost!” Shinra shouted and pointed the gun toward the center of the room.



“Yeah! It appeared right there! Scared the hell out of me!” Mizu shivered.



“Not it! Her!” Dawn shouted “Lady Mythe!”



“My mother?”



“Yes!”



“Tell us what happened.” Willow said gently as Dawn sat down.



“She was here.” Dawn pointed to where Mythe had stood, “She was, um…struggling against something, and gave up. She looked at me and mouthed ‘Help’ and then was gone.”



“I wonder what she meant? We know about the Farplane…” Faith said as she sat down on the floor next to Dawn.



“Maybe something more is going on, than we know?” Buffy asked confused and hugged her sister.



“First the Farplane is going bonkers, and now Mythe is asking for help… This is getting weird!” Willow said rubbing the small of Tara’s back comforting her.



“You’re right…” Tara slowly nodded then glanced at everyone. Mizu and Shinra had put their weapons up, and began working on their computers. Faith stood up and began pacing; Buffy was keeping an eye on Dawn as she started the ship and set course toward the Bikanel Desert.



Twenty-five miles from the Al Bhed camp in Bikanel Desert six men were digging in the sand, looking for machina parts, and other treasure. The men fell to their knees as the ground began to shake, and sand shot into the air and rained down on the men. They looked up and saw their death moving toward them as fast as a lightning bolt from the sky.



The ten-foot tall and nine-foot wide fiend hovered four-feet off the ground as it sped toward the diggers. It was dark gray and light brown, with a man’s body molded into a section of a wall it was pulling behind it. Two decaying bodies with glowing red eyes, and foot-long tusks stuck out of their mouths, and orange and black armor sat on either side five-foot in front of the man.



A green magic shield surrounded the right body’s hands as it raised them into the air. Black magic shot out of the middle body’s hands toward the diggers, and froze three of them into place. A yellow magic shield surrounded the left body’s hands as lightning fell from the sky, stunning them. The right body pointed its’ hands and shot out a poisonous gas, causing two of the men to fall to the sand gasping for air.



One man was left to stand and got hit by an orange spell causing him to draw his sword, and in a rage walk over to the frozen men. Drawing his hand back he swung the sword beheading one, thrusting forward and twisting the sword he cut another in half. The third tried to plead with him but gave up when he realized the man was under a Berserk spell.



After severing the man’s head he dropped the sword and fell next to the other bodies, as the poison mist surrounded his body. The giant fiend surveyed its work and sunk down under the sand and out of sight, as the last of the diggers died of poisoning. If anyone had been left alive they’d seen the sand rise up where the fiend was moving underground.



A half hour later the airship sat down near the desert camp Nhadala ran toward the opening cargo door to meet the girls. Everyone aboard the ship stepped outside and froze at the sight; the six diggers had been brought in fifteen minutes before.



The once white sheets wrapped around the bodies were soaked with blood, as was the sand around them. Shinra ran toward another boy dressed exactly like him, and fell into his arms. Dawn had latched on to Mizu as soon as she saw the bloody sheets, and cried.



“What happened?” Buffy asked not taking her eyes off the bodies lying on the ground.



“Dryd vilgehk fiend rybbahat!” (That fucking fiend happened!) Nhadala growled and glared out at the desert.



“Again?” Tara asked surprised.



“Yes, and I need your help. You see that boy holding Shinra?” she pointed over her shoulder and got a nod from the girls. “That’s Benzo, Shinra’s older brother… I need you to escort him to the Cactuar Nation and speak with Marnela, and to represent us.”



“Okay, that we can do, and if we find the fiend that did this… we’ll kill it!” Buffy said in a deadly voice as she walked toward Shinra and Benzo.



Benzo looked up and nodded. “Very nice to meet you.”



“Hey.”



“All right, the pilot knows where to take you. Good luck.” Nhadala said and left.



Shinra sniffed as Mizu led him back to the ship, Dawn was already inside keeping the engine warm as she watched the hover leave. The pilot drove ten miles to the east and sat the hover down in-between four tall sand dunes. Benzo led the way a few feet as the girls were avoiding one cactus after another.



“Damn! It’s cactus central out here! Where’s is this Marnela, anyway?” Buffy asked looking around and seeing only more cacti.



“Right here.” Benzo stopped in front of a tall and very old cactus.



“Huh?” Faith looked around as Buffy backed into the cactus and jumped as a needle poked her.



The cactus began moving back and forth squeaking like a chipmunk. “It talked?” Buffy backed up.



“What the hell?” Faith stared at the cactus. “I know I’ve seen some weird things… but this is ridiculous!”



Benzo grinned shaking his head, “I’ll translate… Hello, Benzo and sphere hunters. I am Marnela of the Cactuar Nation. It does not surprise me that you are startled. We, the cacti of this Nation, were once cactuars. The cacti that sprout in the desert grow and become cactuars, and when they mature they once again become cacti. And we have watched over the sands of Bikanel since the dawn of time. Tell me, do you believe this?”



The girls looked wide-eyed at the giant cacti before Tara nodded. “Yes, we believe you.”



“Thank you.” Benzo translated. “She’s ready to tell us why she called us here.” He looked up and began speaking again. “Strange things have been happening in the desert as of late. All of you may have felt the sands trembling beneath your feet. A fearsome fiend called ‘Angra Mainyu’ has begun to stir, and wreak havoc near here. For every life it takes it gathers strength, and it will not be long before it attacks the Cactuar Nation. It seeks vengeance, for it was we, who locked it away beneath the dunes so very long ago. Or to be more precise, it was not us, but our ancestors who ruled this land at that time. This is where you come in, I need you to find the cactuars known as the ‘Ten Gatekeepers’ and bring them here. They are the only ones who can weave a magical barrier, for us to summon the ‘Great Haboob’. Please, take these, they will lead you to the gatekeepers, and glow when you are near.”



A bright green glow surrounded the giant cactus as ten green spheres lowered to the ground in front of the girls. Willow kneeled down and picked up the palm size sphere and found it warm to the touch, nodding she picked the others up, and placed them in her pouch.



“How do we use them?” Tara asked looking from Benzo to Marnela.



“The sphere will glow brighter as you get closer, just touch the spot where the sphere is glowing brightest, and the gatekeeper will appear. He or she will take the sphere and return here.”



“Thank you.” Willow said to the cactus and followed the others as they approached the hover.



“Finally! I thought you’d never leave!” Picket said floating over to the girls.



With the spheres in her pocket Willow helped Tara on to the hover glaring at Picket, causing Tara and Buffy to laugh, and Faith to wonder what was going on. The pilot shook his head and drove back to the camp; Benzo spoke with Shinra, as the girls talked with Nhadala. They told her what was going on, and asked her to keep the diggers out of the desert. With everyone in agreement the girls entered the ship and spread the spheres out on a table.



Dawn pointed to one that was softly glowing and gaped as something appeared. Faith picked it up and turned it around studying it.



“It says: Lobivia-Oasis.”



“There’s only one oasis around here… It has to be there.” Buffy said as the ship rose into the air.



Willow remembered waking up in the oasis two years before and looked out the window. Feeling a pair of arms wrap around her waist she leaned back against Tara and sighed.



“What’s wrong?” Tara asked kissing Willow’s earlobe.



“Nothing… just remembering.” Turning around she cupped Tara’s face and gently kissed her before laying her head on her shoulder.



As the ship hovered over the oasis the sphere glowed brightly, picking it up Buffy nodded and Dawn sat the ship down.



“Come guys.”



“Yeah, you can kiss later, we have work to do!” Faith grinned and followed Buffy to the cargo door.



Buffy turned in every direction when she reached the small pond of water, and sighed. The sphere glowed the brightest when she faced the water, hoping against all hope she touched the sphere to the water and jumped back. Everyone went for their weapons as the ground shook, and the water glowed bright green. They relaxed when a foot-tall cactuar appeared with the sphere, and disappeared again.



“That’s it?” Faith asked shaking her head. “He could have at the very least thanked us.”



“Couldn’t have understood him, anyway.” Willow said turning toward the airship.



“True, but still!”



“Where now?” Dawn asked over the intercom after the cargo door closed.



“We’d better check Besaid. I’m worried about Anya and the baby.” Tara said getting nods all around.



“Got it!”



The airship shot up and headed toward Besaid Island, no one saw the giant fiend rise out of the sand behind the ship. Angra Mainyu watched the ship disappear into the distance before it sunk back under the sand, and waited.



There's 19 and I'm still working on 20 I plan to have it out either Friday (Tomorrow) or Saturday. Hope ya enjoyed and thanks for reading.

Chapter Twenty: Besaid Temple



The girls watched the Aurochs kill several fiends as the ship landed, they grabbed on to the rail as the ship shook. Blackish green blood flew into the air in front of the door, causing the girls to jump back. They saw four eyeballs land on the cargo door, before disappearing.



“Woo-hoo! Killed Malboro fiend!” They heard Dawn shout and grinned.



Running toward the village Faith slid to the side of a canine fiend and stabbed it though its’ head. Tara had begun shooting the bird fiends swooping down to attack.



Willow side-flipped then back flipped avoiding an Iron Man, and cast a Thundaga spell knocking the fiend back. Buffy jumped on to its shoulders and thrust her knives into its neck, and twisted her body cutting the head off.



When they entered the village they saw Anya casting spell after spell, killing three canines, and two Water Flans. She cried out as a bird fiend dug its sharp claws into her back, and cast a Flare spell in anger. Hurrying over Tara cast a healing spell on her wounds as Willow caught her before she could fall to the ground.



“You shouldn’t be out here!” Willow spoke as she carried Anya into the hut and put her down on the cot.



“They needed my help!”



“I’m sorry, we should’ve came here first.” Tara quietly said and hugged Anya.



“They just started appearing from the temple and attacking a few minutes ago… anyway Xander and the others split up to kill off the fiends we missed.”



“Let’s help ‘em!” Buffy said dragging Faith outside as Mizu walked in.



“Yes, the villagers will stay calm if they see all of you here.”



“Don’t worry, the Gullwings are on the job. Hell, we’ll even give you our special bargain price.” Mizu said grinning.



“That’s nice.” Anya spoke sarcastically



“Sorry, Anya.” Willow grinned as Tara laughed.



“Don’t worry, now go on they may need some help.” Anya said as Buffy’s terrified scream and Faith’s laugh was heard.



Back outside Buffy was latched on to a Behemoth fiend as it tried to buck her off. Faith was laughing as she attacked and thrust her spear into its’ heart.



Buffy landed on her butt as the fiend disappeared and glared at Faith. Shaking her head Tara looked to her left and saw Dawn standing guard over Shinra as he placed a small sphere, with a golden circle on the ground.



“What’re you doing out here?”



Installing a Commsphere. It will send video signals from here to the ship, and from the ship to here.”



“Okay, just be careful.” Tara said and shot down a bird fiend.



“Tara! Will! Something’s up!” Buffy shouted pointing to a fighting Xander and Beclem near the temple door. Faith had shoved Beclem away from Xander and readied her spear, as the others approached.



"Fuck you!" Faith growled out holding back the urge to swing her spear.



"Come on! We can finish the fiends off right here and now!" Beclem shouted clenching his fists.



"Burning down the temple is going too far!" Faith shouted and ran into the temple.



"We have to do something. What if the fiends keep coming? Then what? Maybe you like putting your family in danger?"



"You're a bastard! We just gotta stop the fiends, ya?'' Xander followed Faith's lead and ran into the temple.



"Praying to those statues never did any good." Beclem said as the girls passed by him. "Going in, are you? I won't wait much longer. I don't care if you're still in there or not."



"You want to see it burn that badly?" Tara sadly asked getting a snort from him.



"You touch this temple, and I'll make damn sure to take you with us!" Willow said and followed Tara and Buffy inside.



As soon as they ran into the Cloister of Trials a Marlboro dropped down in front of them. Back flipping Tara fired a Flare infused round into its head, as Buffy and Willow cut several tentacles and eyes off.



As the fiend disappeared a Dual Horn knocked Willow into the wall, and charged at Tara. Quickly falling to the floor Tara slid under the fiend, and the temple walls shook as it ran into the wall.



Willow stood and doublecast a two Flare spells, as Buffy threw a Soul Stealer mix. The fiend shrieked as it was sucked into the Farplane. The clatter of a fallen weapon caused them to hurry around the corner; they saw Faith fall to the floor next to Xander breathing hard.



"You both okay?"



"Yeah" Faith said and flinched holding her ribs.



"Nothin' to worry about." Xander said as he and Faith felt the warmness of a healing spell wash over their bodies.



Buffy threw a Firestorm mix at a Ice Flan, as Willow cast a Blizzaga spell on a Flame Flan. The fiends disappeared as Faith stood, and helped Xander up.



"Whatever's controlling the fiends must be down there." Xander pointed toward the elevator leading to the Fayth's chamber. "Take that bad boy out..."



"Got that right, Xander stay here." Buffy said and stepped on the elevator with Faith by her side.



"Why?"



"Wouldn't wantcha overdoing it, Daddy!" Willow grinned as the elevator took them down.



Slowly making their way into the chamber they saw Valefor floating over a hole where the statue used to be.



"An Aeon?" Xander said walking up behind them.



"No... Something’s wrong." Tara shook her head.



"Xander, stay back! It's not safe!" Buffy shouted diving to the left knocking Faith to the ground, as Valefor attacked.



Valefor turned and sunk her claws into Willow's shoulder, a burning white pain shot through her body as she was pulled into the air. Tara fired pumping rounds into Valefor's chest, and saw Willow go limp.



Faith stood and glowed dark purple, casting her Fire Breath attack. Flames surrounded Valefor's head causing her to drop Willow. Throwing a Rolling Thunder mix, Buffy ran over to the unconscious Willow and pulled her back.



Xander took Willow from Buffy and gasped when he saw her skin was starting to turn gray. He looked up in time to see Faith duck away from the claws and twist her body as she thrust her spear into Valefor's stomach.



"Watch out! Don't let the claws wound you!" Xander shouted just as Tara and Buffy dodged the Aeons claws.



Spotting an opening Valefor swooped down and latched on to Buffy, she screamed in pain before she, too, fell unconscious. Growling Faith jumped into the air and landed on Valefor's back, and thrust her spear into the dead heart.



Tara caught Buffy as she fell from Valefor's claws, and watched the Aeon disappear. Hurrying over to Xander, Tara laid Buffy down and saw her skin turn gray.



"What's wrong with them?" Faith asked running over.



"Zombified." Was the only thing Xander said as he looked at Faith.



"Shit!"



Searching through her pouch Tara found two of the eight vials of Holy Water she'd bought in Luca. Handing one to Faith, she lifted Willow's head, pulled the cork out with her teeth, and poured the water into Willow's mouth. Xander watched as Faith did the same with Buffy, and saw their skin turn back to normal after a few moments.



Willow was the first to open her eyes and soon found herself on the receiving end of a very passionate kiss. When Tara leaned back she brought Willow into a fierce hug.



"Though I'd lost you, again."



"Never." Willow whispered and looked over to Buffy and Faith who were at that moment hugging and kissing.



Any fiends left inside the temple and the ones that had made it outside just disappeared after Valefor was defeated. The villagers sighed in relief, Anya watched as Beclem clenched his fist before she walked back in the hut.



"That was my first Aeon." Tara said sadly as they headed for the exit.



"I know, baby... this was where I first saw you... I didn't know it then, but I fell in love with you when you walked out of the chamber."



Tara leaned over kissing the base of Willow's neck. "Hm."



"And you know what? This is our home, and we'll protect it."



"Right on, Will! Spoken like a true Dragon!" Faith grinned then her eyes went wide.



Beclem was walking toward the temple with a torch in his hand. Willow growled drawing her sword, as she ran at him. Swinging her sword around she cut the torch in half, and pressed the blade to his throat.



"You were going to kill us!"



"I told you I wouldn't wait long." He said and grimaced as Willow added more pressure to the blade.



Buffy and Faith grabbed Willow's arms and pulled her back, as Tara stepped in front of Beclem. His head jerked back, as his face met Tara's fist. Holding his bloody broken nose he glared at her.



"What's your problem?"



"How would have we gotten out? We would have burned to death, trapped inside! Now tell me, what my problem is!" Tara shouted as the villagers surrounded them with looks of death on their faces toward Beclem.



Anya was by Xander's side as she raised her hand in the air. A bolt of lightning hit Beclem on his butt, causing him to jump.



"I'm telling you now, if you ever endanger my husband, or family again, you'll get more than that!" Anya shouted angrily as Xander led her away.



"And after she's done with you, it'll be my turn!" Willow growled.



Beclem watched as Willow was led away by Tara and Buffy, when he turned around he fell to the ground and screamed in pain.



Faith glared down at him; "You'll get more than another fist in your face if you touch this temple." she said and walked off.



Back on the ship they found the others surrounding the cactuar spheres, and saw one lightly glowing. Picking it up Willow read the words that had appeared.



"Toumeya-Besaid."



Dawn was already slowly piloting the ship around the island, flying over the beach the sphere brightened. Getting a nod from Willow she landed the ship and watched as the girls neared the boat dock.



Willow kneeled down and touched the dock, and the sphere disappeared. The second cactuar appeared holding the sphere, and flipped twice before disappearing.



"I do believe it thanked us." Tara smiled over at Faith who grinned back.



"Hey, Jenny is asking for help. The machina is going haywire on the highroad!" Mizu said as they boarded the ship.



"Okay, then let's go!" Faith said and picked Buffy up and ran off toward the bridge with Willow and Tara following.



There's 20 and 21 will be out tomorrow. Hope ya enjoyed this chapter.

Chapter Twenty-One: Machina Mayhem



Jenny explained that the machina on the highroad just went out of control, and began attacking anyone that passed by them. Along with the fiends the highroad was now a very dangerous place to be near, let alone walk along. She asked for their help and promised a reward when they had agreed. Dawn sat the airship down as Jenny bade them good luck, and cut the link.



When the girls stepped out of the ship the first thing they saw was three machina guards attacking a man. While running Willow cast a Thundaga spell as Buffy threw a Rolling Thunder mix. One of the machina fell apart leaving an opening for the man to escape.



Tara waited until the man was out of the way before firing a thunder infused round into the second machina guard. Faith had begun to attack the third guard and dodge its' sharpened shield. Another attack and a Thundaga spell took it down, as Tara and Buffy took out the last one.



"I hope this doesn't have anything to do with the temples!" Tara said as they ran toward two more machina.



"Come on! Let's mangle those machina, and get the reward Jenny promised!" Buffy shouted dodging the machina's gunfire.



A stray round hit Faith's shoulder as she cut the machina's gun off its' shoulder. Willow flipped forward and over one of the machina, bringing her sword around cutting the head off.



Tara fired three rounds into the second one, and dodged as it fired at her. Sneaking up behind it, Buffy thrust both knives into its' back and twisted. The machina fell to the ground with the wires sticking out of its' control panel.



Willow cast a Blizzaga spell on two approaching Bombs and watched them shatter as Tara shot the frozen fiends. Tara quickly healed Faith and jumped back as a Water Flan rose out of the ground under her feet. Giving the fiend no time to completely form, Willow cast a Thunder spell and watched it melt back into the ground.



Buffy shouted as she was thrown through the air, and landed at Faith’s feet. A Quadricorn fiend had snuck up and rammed Buffy in the back. Faith brought her spear down on the Dual Horn’s cousin, and dodged the poisonous fangs snapping at her. Tara fired one round into its’ head, the fiend exploded into souls and disappeared.



Tara suddenly fell forward blood running down her back, as more gunfire tore up the ground at the girls' feet. Willow grabbed Tara and pulled her behind the ruins to her right and looked at her back. Three round holes were pouring blood, and Tara wasn't breathing. Willow went berserk as her eyes turned red and she glowed orange, she stood and ran toward four machina.



Faith was franticly searching through her pouch and found what she wanted, as Buffy quickly turned Tara over. Willow was a force to be reckoned with, her sword was a blur, just as she herself was a blur. Lightning fell from the sky hitting the machina in regular bursts. Everyone of the machina had fallen apart, as Willow took on three Dual Horns.



She knew they'd smelled Tara's blood and had come running, but they were in for a surprise she thought. Flipping into the air, a Flare spell hit one knocking it back, a Firaga spell hit the second burning some hair and blue flesh off. The third was being torn in half as a Demi and Ultima spell hit it at the same time, turning toward the two left she cast another Ultima spell.





Both Dual Horns were trapped inside of a white force field as a black mist surrounded them. Anyone within a fifty-foot radius had to close their eyes, as the Ultima spell exploded eight times in a bright white light. With no more fiends or machina around Willow fell to her hands and knees breathing hard, as she began to silently cry.



What she didn't see was Tara standing between Buffy and Faith watching her. After Willow had went berserk, Faith had poured a Phoenix Down in her mouth to revive her. After she’d started breathing again, Buffy poured a Hi-Potion in her mouth to heal the wounds.



With her wounds healed she'd opened her eyes and sat up, only to see Willow in Berserk, killing the machina. Knowing anyone in Berserk was very dangerous, even to a lover, Tara stayed back and watched. She flinched when she saw one of the machina slice Willow’s leg open, before it fell into a pile of parts.



When the Ultima spells exploded she covered her eyes and prayed that Willow wasn’t too close to the spells. When the light died down she saw Willow fall to her knees and begin to cry. Quietly walking over to her after the orange glow had disappeared from her body, she touched her shoulder. She smiled when Willow looked up, and latched on to her kissing her franticly.



"Tara! You're okay!" Willow shouted happily between kisses.



"I am now... but there for a few seconds..." Tara trailed off as Willow captured her lips.



Tara pulled back and sighed as she rested her forehead to Willow's. "Thank Faith. She's the one with the Phoenix Down." she whispered and pulled Willow up with her.



"No need to thank me, if I hadn't have had it, I would have ran to the shop and got one!"



Buffy giggled. "You gotta remember, Will, you have an hour to use a Phoenix Down! You really didn't have to scare us by going Berserk!"



Willow sighed shaking her head. "Yeah, I forgot."



"Please, don't forget that Berserk can kill you... Okay?" Faith said grinning as Tara lightly hit the back of Willow's head.



"Yeah! Don't forget that!"



"Sorry." Willow said rubbing her head. "You never did explain how that could happen. I mean I felt stronger than ever, and I did more damage."



"That's just it," Faith said and leaned against the ruins. "Tell me, you didn't feel any pain from the hits you received did you?"



"No."



"And that's what can kill you, you don't feel pain, so you don't know you've been hurt... and you fight till you bleed to death, or until you’re too weak and get killed by a fiend."



Willow looked at Faith still confused. "But, wouldn't you feel the blood running down your body?"



"Did you feel your blood?" Faith asked pointing to the deep gash in her leg.



Looking down Willow's eyes widened as she lightly touched the wound. "Hell! I still don't feel a thing!" she said raising blood-covered hand up.



Faith nodded as Tara cast a healing spell. "You still have some of the Berserk energy in your body. With that you wouldn't have felt it, until the left over energy disappeared... and by then, most times it's too late."



Hearing a frantic scream the girls took off; topping the small hill they saw an eight-foot tall machina chasing a woman. Killing any other fiend that got in their way, they headed toward the second stretch of the highroad. Running past the shop they saw the machina had trapped the woman between a thirty-foot fall, and the machina itself.



Faith glowed dark purple as lightning surrounded her body, holding her hands toward the machina lightning shot from them. The machina stumbled and turned to meet another blast of lightning head on. Willow began doublecasting Thundaga spells; Buffy threw a Rolling Thunder mix, and a Thunderblast mix, as Tara fired thunder infused rounds.





Being taken by surprise the machina only had time to get off one burst of gunfire before it fell into the ravine and broke apart. Faith had taken another bullet in her shoulder, Willow fell to the ground holding her side just under her ribs, as blood poured out of the bullet wound on her leg. Buffy had taken one below her knee, one in her stomach, and one had grazed the side of her head. Tara begin the only one who wasn't hurt concentrated a healing spell on everyone.



The bullets disappeared as the wounds healed. After the healing stopped there were no scars left in place, only a slight soreness. The woman ran over and thanked the girls before she left the highroad heading toward Mushroom Rock Road.



Jenny smiled at the girls as she approached. "Thank you, here's the reward as promised,” she said and handed Tara ten thousand gil.



"What the hell made the machina go all haywire?" Buffy asked rubbing the side of her head.



"We don't know." Jenny sighed. "We found some of the shop property smashed up. Then a hover crashed. Just when we were about to investigate that, the machina went out of control."



"If you find anything out, be sure to call us, okay?" Tara hugged the older woman.



"You'll be the first I call. Oh! The Sphere Break tournament will be starting soon, are you still participating?"



"You bet!" Buffy shouted as Tara nodded.



"Great! I will see you then." Jenny said as she headed back toward the shop.



Buffy watched her go before looking around the highroad with a frown. Seeing this Faith gently placed her hand on Buffy’s shoulder. Turning she smiled up at Faith and wrapped her arms around her waist.



“The temples, Vegnagun, the fiends, the Farplane, the machina, the dreams… what the hell is going on?”



“I don’t know, but I do intent to find out.” Tara said watching Willow closely. “Will, sweetie, what’s wrong?”



Willow was looking toward the Mushroom Rock Road entrance with a confused look on her face. What she saw was starting to freak her out.



Floating a few feet in front of her was a dark blond young woman, who looked just like Tara. Her sad blue eyes met Willow’s scared green eyes as she mouthed ‘Help me.’ and disappeared.



Hearing Tara speak to her, she turned and glanced around never making eye contact with any of the others. Shaking her head she smiled and walked off, leaving the others confused. In deep thought and not paying attention, Willow walked into the entrance of Mushroom Rock Road. Tara was right behind her, and keeping a close eye on her as she worried. Faith and Buffy were also watching Willow with worried looks.



With her head lowered she didn’t see Yaibal and ran into him, she helped the young man up and apologized. Nodding he turned and smiled at Tara as she took Willow’s hand in hers.



“Hello, Lady Tara. Can I help you?”



“Are there more fiends?”



“Yes, My Lady, but don’t worry. Everything is under control. The Al Bhed from Djose helped fight them off.”



“Gippal was here?” Buffy asked in a deadly voice.



“Yes. He and his group brought us some fighter machina. And he said not to depend on you so much, Lady Tara.”



“Me?”



“He said, we need to rely on our own strength to defend Spira.” Yaibal said and saluted when Drusilla approached.



“My Lady, may I speak with you?”



“Sure.” Tara nodded and followed Drusilla several feet away from Yaibal.



“As you probably know, our leader Meyvn Nooj has disappeared. Do you have any information as to his whereabouts?” Drusilla asked worriedly



Tara shook her head, “I’m sorry, but we don’t know any more than you do.”



“I see…”



“If we see him, we’ll tell him to return here.”



“Thank you, My Lady.” Drusilla saluted and left.



Faith watched the Commander go before turning to the others; Buffy and Tara were looking at a zoned out Willow. Cocking her head Faith waved her hand in front on Willow’s face, and got no reaction, not even a blink. Watching her closely she saw her lips barely move and leaned down to listen.



After running into Yaibal, Willow had tried to listen to Drusilla, but couldn’t her dream flashed before her eyes. Trying to push it away only made it stronger, and soon she was re-living the dream as her eyes glazed over. She felt anger rising in her body as words flashed in front of her eyes, and her lips begin to move as she read the words.



“I will save her. I will kill them all. She is mine.” She whispered over and over.



Faith’s head shot up as her eyes widened, the fast movement jerked Willow out of her trance as she looked around. Seeing the looks she was getting from the others she frowned.



“What’s up?”



“We should be asking you that.” Buffy said raising her left eyebrow.



“Nothing. I’m fine.” Willow said and avoided eye contact with the girls and headed toward the landing airship.



Tara watched her go and sadly hung her head. “Is it something I’ve done?”



“You’ve done nothing. But we need to watch her, something’s wrong.” Faith said and led the way to the ship.

Chapter Twenty-Two: Back to Chateau Leblanc



Willow sat down on her and Tara’s bad with a sigh as she looked around the room. If she’d heard right Logos had left a message asking for them to talk to Leblanc. Laying back she closed her eyes and heard the door open, soon she felt Tara gently lay her head on her shoulder before she drifted off into a restless sleep.



An hour later Buffy woke the girls up, telling them they were at the Guadosalam entrance. Before they could get to the entrance Dawn shouted, and ran out of the ship carrying a Cactuar sphere.



Tara took the sphere seeing the words ‘Lobeira-Guadosalam’ written on it, and touched the entrance. The sphere disappeared and a cactuar appeared holding it, before he was gone.



Smiling as the cactuar disappeared Tara took Willow’s hand and refused to release it, as they walked into Guadosalam. Willow knew Tara was worried, just as she herself was worried, but she didn’t want to scare anyone with what she’d saw. So she decided not to let it bother her, atleast until she could explain it better, and not scare anyone.



Walking inside Leblanc’s home they could hear muffled talking coming from the living room, opening the door the girls saw Ormi and Logos.



Clearing his throat Ormi deepened his voice, “Leblanc there’s nothing to worry about.” He tried to imitate Nooj. “How’s that?”



“Not deep enough.” Logos sighed.



“Then let’s see you do it.”



“Leblanc, there is nothing to worry about.”



Ormi doubled over laughing. “Now, look who’s talking!”



“What in the hell are you doing?” Buffy asked stepping inside the room.



Turning around Logos shook his head. “The boss has been…depressed since Nooj disappeared.”



“And we wants to comfort her.”



“Oh,” Buffy said getting the picture. “That was supposed to be Nooj, right?”



“Was it that bad?” Logos asked



“Yup.” Both Buffy and Tara said causing both men to look at the floor.



Willow looked at the two sad looking men and couldn’t help but to voice her question “Do you really think that would help… even if you did sound like him?”



“It would!”



“Okay… whatever you say.” Willow said and followed them out.



“Please talk to the boss.” Logos said as he and Ormi sat down on the stairs.



Entering Leblanc’s room brought back those bad memories of the last time she was in that room. Buffy shivered. Faith glanced at her questionably.



“Long story.” Buffy said and stopped to see Leblanc lying on her bed looking miserable.



"Leave me alone."



"Oh come on! Don't you want to hunt spheres? We'll get all the spheres if ya don't move it!" Buffy grinned



"I don't care. There's no point if my Noojie-Woojie isn't there to smile."



"You're a mess." Tara sighed watching Leblanc lower her hear even further.



"I don't care... now please leave me alone."



"Okay." Willow said and pulled Tara out of the room.



Once at the bottom of the stairs Ormi and Logos looked up hopefully, and frowned when Willow shook her head. Logos led them back into the living room and nearly fell forward as Ormi slapped his back.



"What if we showed her a sphere of him?" Ormi looked from Logos to the girls



"Why ask us? Just go for it." Faith said and leaned against the wall.



"Of course! The sphere we took in Bevelle! Would you like to watch it?" Logos asked about as happy as a snake.



"What's on it?" Tara asked not really wanting a reminder of the chamber.



"Don't know we haven't watched it yet. Please, follow me." The girls followed the two men into the back room. Logos picked up a sphere and pressed the button.



"What the hell is this!?" Willow shouted gripping her sword when she saw the image pop up of Tara's butt.



"Ormi shot it! Not me!"



"Sorry! I didn't know it was on!" Ormi said backing away from Willow.



"Hey! Someone's there!" Buffy shouted pointing to a form above Vegnagun’s chamber.



"Hold on I can zoom in."



Logos got a closer picture of the form as the girls’ eyes widened. "It's Nooj! What was he doing there?" Buffy asked as the recording ended.



"I don't like that. Nooj just happened to be there, after Vegnagun disappeared?" Willow said and began pacing.



"There's more isn't there?" Tara asked stopping Willow's pacing by wrapping her arms around her waist.



"It's just all the secrets, one after another."



"Please, don't mention this to the boss." Logos pleaded



"Why not?" Faith asked confused.



"Vegnagun is dangerous, nothing us sphere hunters have any business fooling around with. But if the boss knew Nooj were involved, well...there'd be no stopping her. And if anything were to happen to her..."



Buffy sighed. "You guys got it rough, don't you?"



"If only she noticed."



"Hey, is that one from Bevelle, too?" Tara asked seeing another sphere on the desk



"No, this one we found." Ormi said picking the sphere up and playing it.



[Sphere]



An image appeared with Glory in a cage swinging over a deep hole.



"The only reason the war's dragging on is because Zanarkand refuses to surrender." A guard said from the side.



"You're wrong!" Glory shouted trying to hit the guard. "If you'd stop attacking, there wouldn't be a war!"



"We're not falling for that."



"Someday... I promise you, your precious weapons will end up destroying you."



[End of Sphere]



"Know what? Keep that sphere away from me." Buffy said backing up and into Faith's waiting arms.



"We really didn't want it... that woman looks like Glory, and if it is her, I really don't want the sphere."



"That's all right, Logos. You keep it, we've... uh, gotta get to the sphere break tournament, okay? Bye!" Willow said hurriedly pulling Tara out the door, and back to the airship.



"Dawn, please take us to Luca!" Willow said as soon as Faith and Buffy boarded.



Dawn had sat the ship down on the highroad entrance to Luca, locked the ship up and followed everyone to the tournament. Several hundred people were standing in the Luca Square waiting to challenge others, knowing they were only three challenges away from the champion. Shelinda was standing on the steps with a microphone in her hand, as she spoke into a camera.



"You can't go anywhere in Luca without hearing about the Sphere Break Tournament! And now it's just about time for the competition to begin. But first a word from our sponsor, and creator of Sphere Break. Lady Jenny."



"Famlusa, ajanouha!" (Welcome, everyone!) Jenny smiled. "I am looking forward to a fair competition. May the best man or woman win!"



"Go time!" Buffy shouted causing Jenny to giggle.



"Kuut milg du oui!" (Good luck to you!) Jenny said and nodded.



Buffy, Willow, and Tara shot off in different directions to challenge the other players. Willow was happily beating the younger men and women, she growled when she lost to the champion.



Buffy also won her first three matches, only to lose at the hands of the champion and screamed. Tara having hardly practiced won her three matches and was led to the champion.



"Oohhh! I was so close!" Buffy shouted as Tara walked up.



Seeing Buffy looking just as unhappy as Willow she cocked her head to the left. "Who beat you?" she asked and heard a giggle from her right. Looking over her eyes went wide.



"It's elementary, really, once you get the hang of it." Shinra giggled "And once I outplay Tara, the tournament is mine!"



"Get him, Tara!" Buffy shouted



"Beat him at his own game!" Willow shouted smirking at Shinra.



"You're goin' down." Tara said walking over.



"The probability you'll win is slim at best." Shinra said meet her half way to being the first round.



Buffy and Willow cheered every time Tara broke Shinra's sphere. With a fifty-coin quota, and only fifteen rounds to reach it, Tara used the Echo Bonus. By round fourteen Tara made the quota and happily jumped into the air. Shinra looked down completely baffled.



"I won!" Tara said as Willow pulled her into a kiss.



"Hmph! My goggles fogged up." Shinra said unhappily.



"And the winner of the first Sphere Break tournament is... High Summoner Tara!" Shelinda shouted happily into the camera. "Presenting her award is our sponsor, Lady Jenny."



"Luhknydimydeuhc!" (Congratulations!) Jenny said handing Tara a check for ten thousand gil.



"Thank you." Tara said and hugged Jenny.



With the tournament over the group headed back to the ship, laughing at Shinra all the way. Half way up the stairs Shinra stopped and turned toward Tara.



"I swear I'll get you next time!" He shouted and ran off laughing like a maniac.



"Hey! Get back here and fight!" Buffy shouted only to be pulled into a kiss by Faith.



When they boarded the ship the alarm was going off as red lights blinked on and off. Running up to the bridge, the girls waited as Mizu typed on her consol. She gasped and turned toward the girls with an unreadable look on her face.



“Reports from Kilika asking for help. One from Djose, and one in Bevelle… but it’s weird something about Baralai, Nooj, and Gippal.”



“What?” Faith asked confused.



“The full report reads: Trouble. Baralai, Nooj, and Gippal meeting in chamber.”



“Okay…that’s odd.” Willow said just as confused as Faith.



“Meeting in chamber? You don’t think Vegnagun’s chamber do you?” Tara asked not really wanting an answer.



“That’s what I think…besides, Bahamut’s chamber leads down to Vegnagun’s.” Willow sighed trying to clear the vision of the Aeon’s from her mind.



“Great, we gotta go back do there to find out what they’re up to.” Buffy shivered.



“Where to?” Dawn asked starting the ship.



“I say we get to Kilika, then Bevelle, and then to Djose. Let Gippal take care of himself for a while.” Buffy said starting to pace. “Tara, what do you think?”



“Okay with me. Will?”



“Yeah, sure.”



Dawn nodded and lifted the ship into the air, setting course for Kilika Island.
