"So that's what I told him."[br]

Willow looked from Tara, to the guy, then back at Tara again. Then she blinked before blinking some more.[br]
[br]
"He asked you out," Willow began slowly.[br]
[br]
"Yeah," Tara nodded, studying Willow carefully.[br]
She hadn't seen her girlfriend this confused in awhile.[br]
[br]
"And you told him that for an answer," Willow[br]
continued, fighting the smirk spreading on her features.[br]
[br]
"What?" demanded Tara, blushing now. Ducking[br]
her head, her blonde locks fell, obscuring her pretty face.[br]
"I had to tell him something right? I think that was a good[br]
enough explanation, don't you? It got him to back off."[br]
[br]
"Back off?" repeated Willow with a frown. Her[br]
green eyes narrowed slightly and she asked, "Has he been[br]
bothering you? Because if he has..." The redhead held up[br]
her fists and made boxing gestures. "I move like a butterfly[br]
and I can sting like so many bees. And without dying too."[br]

"Willow," Tara chuckled softly, her voice moving[br]
into that husky tone that made shivers run down the other[br]
girl's spine. "It's all right. He's not that bad, really."[br]
[br]
"Uh huh," said Willow, frowning still as her gaze[br]
sought out and glared at the guy who asked out Tara.[br]
[br]
"You won't be all weird now, will you?" pursued[br]
Tara, watching Willow closely.[br]
[br]
"I won't be weird," Willow promised. She was[br]
boring her eyes intensely into the young man, convinced if[br]
she did it long enough, his head would explode then she'd[br]
never have to see him on campus again. "I'm not weird."[br]
[br]
Heaving a gentle sigh, Tara reached out to hold[br]
Willow's chin. "You're being weird," she informed.[br]
[br]
"I know," said Willow in a pathetic whine. "But I[br]
can't help it. He asked you out and he's seen us acting all[br]
cutesy and coupley and holding handsly and--"[br]
[br]
"And I told him no," Tara interrupted softly.[br]
"That's what matters, not the fact that he asked me out[br]
despite knowing we're a couple." Dipping her head she[br]
smiled and said, "I did give him that explanation too."[br]
[br]
"Oh yeah," Willow chuckled, rolling her eyes. "The[br]
explanation... somehow I doubt that will keep him away."[br]
[br]
"I don't see what was wrong with it," said Tara[br]
rather huffily, pulling away from Willow, looking upset. "I[br]
think that it was a fine metaphor myself."[br]
[br]
"Tara," Willow kept chuckling as she pulled her[br]
girlfriend back into her arms. Resting her chin on the top[br]
of the other girl's shoulder, she murmured, "I love you,[br]
you know I do. But..." She shook her head and smiled[br]
widely. "Saying you're 'gay as stick' is just not a good[br]
explanation for why you can't go out with a guy."[br]

"Fine," Tara huffed, seeming less upset as she[br]
snuggled back into Willow's arms. "But it still worked."[br]
[br]
"Yeah," said Willow, her eyes trailing across the[br]
campus to lock on the form of the aforementioned guy[br]
who paled on seeing her glare. "It worked."[br]
[br]
"Good, because I am you know," said Tara.[br]
[br]
"You're what?" asked Willow, moving her[br]
attention back to her girlfriend, where it belonged.[br]
[br]
"Gay as stick," Tara revealed with a wry smile.[br]
[br]
"Ohhh," Willow chuckled. "Me too."[br]
[br]
