*happy, contented, totally satisfied sigh*

That was great - just what the doctor ordered and a wonderful way to kick off a new year. Very happy bold Tara decided to look Willow up, and yay Willow for first kissing her and then asking her to stay. Wonderful, easy chemistry, and once again you do a great job of finishing a story in a way that feels finished (if that makes sense). I do hope you have more W/T goodness to write and share this year; things are just better with a JustSkipIt story on the board. Thanks very much for this little gem, and for the thoughts about me and my dad (it's been tough but he's hanging in there). Happy New Year!

Short, but certainly sweet. What a lovely little holiday treat -- lots of humour and romance, blended together to be "nice and smooth and rich."

The first part is more with the humour, starting with Buffy's suggested gift list for Giles, then Willow's "episode." Part two is mostly romance, still nicely leavened with humour.

In a lot of ways, Dawn's the star of this story (or at least gets "best supporting actress"). First egging Willow on to overcome her inhibitions and actually do something about her "fixation." Then with the photo and list, which really tells Tara all she needs to know about Willow. Wily little matchmaker.

Thanks for this gift of W/T goodness. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Oh my god! I have endorsement! :blush Thank you, thank you, thank you! :bow I still can't get over "sensual" and "intense", now my ego's fit to burst.

I do apologize for the bringer of bad news, it's not news you want to hear about in any circumstances. It's just a little too close to home for me, my gf and I were planning to go to Phuket at Christmas, but ended up elsewhere because we couldn't get flights. Although the fatality figure in Thailand isn't as high as Indonesia or Sri Lanka, it's still scary and so many are still missing.

Which is why a warm, feel-good holiday cheery story is just what the doctor ordered in the watson household. Three cheers to Dawn for playing cupid. I love the small details, Wonderful Life at Christmas, alcoholic free eggnog (is that even possible?), Willow testing for vampness and Tara understanding what she's doing, Tara trusting in the fates to bring her to Willow. Of course the banter and conversation that was so immediately comfortable.

Fantastic!

I'm positive I'm not the only person here wanting to know how the big New Year's Eve party went. Howzabout it?

WARMTH

Postby wimpy0729 » Sun Jan 02, 2005 10:44 am

Hi Debra.

Warmth is the best way I can describe this wonderful little story you gave us.

I felt warm from the first part all the way through the end. The way you write is so incredible that I always get totally drawn into it, like I was actually there watching Willow sit on her lap, Tara showing up at the door and the surprised look Willow must've had on her face. Of course, when I pictured them snuggling in front of the fireplace, was the most warmth I felt, for obvious reasons.

Loved the beautiful touches throughout. You never cease to amaze. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see something else from you soon.

Yah for Dawn and her “forgetfulness”! That was so funny having Willow check Tara out with the cross before inviting her in. She must believe Tara is too beautiful to be a mere mortal! Rightly so. Cheers for “inspired and spontaneous passion” and Willow refusing Buffy’s invitation. The girls snuggling in front of the fireplace and slowly drifting into a peaceful sleep is a perfect ending, yet beginning, to another lovely Willow and Tara story. Thank you so much for the Christmas fic that made my New Year very Happy! Hope yours is too! :heart

This was a wonderful little post-holiday treat. I especially liked Dawn's very sweet and oh-so-subtle wish list for Willow, and seeing a more aggressive, go-for-it Tara was a nice touch as well.

Willow18 – Glad you were so excited. And yes, Dawn is quite the matchmaker. Yay for Dawn! I’m impressed with Tara for going the “show up at her house” route rather than calling. I’m glad you liked.

ShyTemptress – Thanks so much. I’m glad you liked the Willow then Tara bravery. Ha ha to naughty thoughts—who would have thought Santa could seem sexy? Thanks for all your kind words.

EasierSaid- Wow. 172 posts? And it seemed so recent that you were posting a story on your second post and wondering if that was gauche. So far…

I’m glad this one seemed finished. I wondered about that and considered writing the News Years party but figured, what was there to do? Have them dust some vamps on the way and come out as witches? Been done before. You know?

Glad to hear that your dad is doing well. Again, my thoughts are with you both.

meretricious - :rofl Yes: Sunnydale never struck me as a very Jewish town so I’d imagine that the Ira Rosenbergs are the only ones. Thanks to you and I hope you also had a happy holidays.

Tempest Duer – Thanks. And yes, Dawn is of course great at pushing the girls.

russ – Happy Holidays and Happy New Year. Glad you liked the holiday treat. I’d definitely say that Dawn is the “star” of the story. BTW: the list that Dawn made is inspired by Amazon.com’s recommendation engine. Have you ever looked at the items Amazon will recommend for you and click the “why was this recommended” button? It’s quite funny. A Ellen Degeneres concert DVD will say, “this was recommended because you bought: Melissa Etheridge (lists three cds), KD Lang, The L word, and then 2 random things with no relationship at all. Very funny and interesting. Thanks for your praise.

hidden Watson – You definitely have my endorsement. I find your story fascinating and mind-bending.

I’m sorry to hear of your change in plans, both for you and for the people so affected by the tragedy.

Glad you liked the levity here and the details. I just tried eggnog of any kind for the first time last year (I guess my parents didn’t like it) and love it. I drink it for breakfast and definitely without alcohol.

Hmmm. Had I said I was going to a big party? New Year’s Eve we went to dinner with my brother’s family (as we do every Friday night), then home and the baby to bed by 8:00 and us by 10:00. Not exactly a big New Year’s Eve Party. We went to a party Saturday which was fun although everyone else was roaring drunk by the time we arrived. Asher had a great time thought.

Arwen276 – Thanks. Glad you liked it.

snuggle79 – Thanks. I’m glad you liked it and found it cute.

pipsberg – You are so welcome. I enjoyed writing it and always enjoy Kitten feedback. Everyone is always so friendly and it’s a good chance to say happy holidays. Glad you liked it.

wimpy0729 – Ahhh. Thank you. Yes, I can definitely understand “warm.” That wasn’t the word I would have used but it fits perfectly. :rofl about your warmth. I’m glad you liked it so much. Thank you.

sam darls – Thanks.

Kajun – Yes, I think that Dawn gets big kudos here.

Quote:

I think it’s more just that she’s well aware of the Scoobie’s odds for romantic success and encounters. I’m glad you liked the passion and enjoyed the story. Happy New Year right back .

watersong84 – Thanks. Glad you liked it.

onlyhalfevil – Thanks. I’m glad you liked the story and that Russ could summarize your comments for you. :grin

tarawhipped- Hey there! I’m waiting for an update to Green-Eyed but I guess I’ll let it go since it is the holidays. I’m glad you liked it.

behindhereyes – Ahhh. How sweet. I feel that way too. Thanks.

Romy – Thanks.

Anna – Thanks. Glad you liked Dawn’s list. Like I said above, I patterned it on the types of suggestions Amazon.com gives you. Their recommendation engine is brilliant. Anyway, thanks so much.

Great story, the idea of Tara as Santa is just too adorable for words. Doesn't she leave a trail of crush-smitten five-year-old boys in her wake who stay up all night hoping for the 'beautiful blonde Santa' to pop out of the chimney? :D

Well at least she arrived for Willow, and in a slightly more dignified way than climbing down a chimney... I loved the slightly neurotic tendencies in both girls, Willow lining up with all the kiddies to sit on Santa's knee (that's a Christmas present in itself), and Tara talking herself into going to see Willow by rationalising how it's obviously meant to be. It's so cute :blush

And yay for Dawnie - I always knew she'd prove her worth :clap

Great work :bow

RedSu
– Hey. RedSun like the license plate in Never a Night like This. Glad you liked it. Lol about their visit to Chile. You are very welcome.

Artemis – Hey Chris. Yes the Tara as a Santa is what got the entire thought started for me. I’m not sure whether 5 year-old boys are thinking about blonde Santas or just K-Nex and GameBoy games. Maybe they’re in a trance.

Oh yeah: they are perfect for each other with the “slightly neurotic tendancies.” Don’t you know rationalization is the most important thing in the world? (More than sex? Have you ever gone a day without rationalizing?) – Ten points for identifying the movie reference.

:rofl about Dawnie proving her worth. I liked her in s7 but before that, she was just screaming and crying. Who needs it? Have a great New Year.

Thanks so much and don't worry about being late with the feedback. No worries. Actually it's nice to have the feedback spread out so it lasts longer. Kind of like getting presents on Hannukah and Christmas too. Anyway, sorry I can't deliver a blue-eyed Santa for you but thanks for the thoughts. Happy New Year to you too.

I am glad you don't mind late feed back as its 2:20am on the 9th now and I just read your totally delightful story. This was like the eggnog soft and smooth. Buffy being Buffy, Dawn being a happy imp and matchmaker and of course Tara and Willow being the warm lovestruck couple they are. Thanks for an entertaining story and have a safe Happy 2005. Traveler4069 – as long as you don’t mind late replies to late feedback… :grin . Thanks for your wonderful thoughts on the entire cast of characters. It was fun to write and fun to get all the feedback. Best wishes to you on the new year also.

hin768 – Thanks. Yep, Willow didn’t have those creds but she is about to get them I’d say. :evil Glad you are enjoying all my fics. In addition to my work, I would highly recommend the Tempest Fugit works, Hellbore, Unexpected Consequences, Common Areas (in progress), and Neverland (in progress). I’m sure there are more but I hope the other writers will excuse my top-of-the head list.
