Rosenberg and Maclay

PART 1:

VOICE OVER:

Two households both alike in dignity in fair Sunny dale, Where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean, From forth the fatal loins of these two foes, A pair of star crossed lovers meet and fall in love. Whose misadventured piteous overthrows doth with their true love, Bury their parents strife. The fearful passage of their true love marked by pain, And the continuance of their parents rage, Which but their children's love not could remove, Is now the two hours traffic of our stage

It's mid afternoon and we can see the highway. The sky is a clear blue and the sun is shining down upon the road. Then we see a huge dark sedan, windows tinted gold, headlights blazing, powers directly for us. It rushes past a huge truck and a limo. Like thunderous, jousting opponents, the cars pass in a deafening cacophony of noise. We can see a young girl sitting up in the car, laughing and drinking a beer.

BUFFY: A dog of the house of Capulet moves me!

She and the pimply-faced front-seat passenger, DAWN, explode with laughter. The dark headed driver XANDER, who has a patch over his left eye, keeps on mind on the road. The truck spirals down an exit ramp and screeches into busy driveway of a large gas station. Attendants immediately run to the truck. Two clean windshields and duco, the third fills the gas tank. Buffy in the back seat is boasting outrageously.

BUFFY: A dog of that house shall move me to stand. I will take the wall of any man or maid of Maclay.

Dawn nods sarcastically. Her smile is now cocky.

DAWN: We slay Maclay's everyday! Such a weak slave bows at Maclay's feet.

BUFFY: 'Tis true; and therefore women, being the weaker vessels, are nothing but slags. I am the one who slays the loser's in Maclay's family.

Xander, disgusted, gets out of the car.

XANDER: The quarrel is between our masters...

BUFFY ( Yelling at Xander): ...and us their friends

Xander turns his back to them and heads to the bathroom. He walks passed a mother wrangling three little boys out of a station wagon - the smallest kid carries a toy pistol. Then we see past the mother to - the huge black sedan pulling up outside the gas station mini-mart. The front door of the sedan opens. Shiny black boots - decorated with tiny, silver, cat-shaped spurs - plant themselves on the ground. The boots are joined by two other pairs of well-shod feet. The spurred boots walk away from the car. The other feet belong to a tough-looking Latin youth FAITH - and her young looking friend ANGEL. They both walk into the mini mart while 4 white clad girls leave. The young girl's see BUFFY and DAWN talking and acting the fools.

BUFFY: I will show the world the hottest little girl. The girl who beds the virgin's. But when I have I have fought with the men I will be civil with the maids, I will stake them through their hearts!

DAWN ( pulls a mocking voice) Stake them all!! Thats very mean dear sister

BUFFY leers lecherously at the girls.

BUFFY: Yeah, all the girls! I dont care who lives or dies....Rosenbreg will rule this world

DAWN: Unless Maclay's get there first

BUFFY and DAWN pump up the song on the sound system and sing out at the girls.

BUFFY/ DAWN (singing) Not gonna get us

They are not gonna get us

Not gonna get us

Not gonna get us

They are not gonna get us

They are not gonna get us

Not gonna get us

The girls who are scared to death, hurry into their car and just try to get away. The car pulls away revealing... FAITH and ANGEL exiting the mini-mart. We see BUFFY and DAWN still singing along to TaTu loud and proud. Then DAWN looks up and see's FAITH and ANGEL watching them. Their eye's met arcoss the car park.

DAWN: Here comes of the House of Maclay

FAITH and ANGEL stare coldly toward the boys. ANGEL touches his face, his sun screen comes off and he walks back into the shadow. FAITH hands him some cream before standing her ground. DAWN licks her dry lips and looks over to her sister. BUFFY; eyes locked to the Maclays. With fake bravado she nudges DAWN.

BUFFY: Quarrel I will back thee.

DAWN trying to quell her rising panic. Her eye's are fulled with fear.

DAWN: You know the law wont help us. We need to back away or let them began

Then a huge bang can be heared. Both BUFFY and DAWN jump up, hands reaching for their guns. Then they see the garage attendant slamming the hood. BUFFY and DAWN are mortally embarrassed. FAITH and ANGEL laugh contemptuously and move to their car. ANGEL see's the mother and her children leave the shop. We see DAWN and BUFFY hiding in their car. They both furiously tries to save face.

BUFFY: I will bite my thumb at them; which is a disgrace to them if they bear it

BUFFY quickly bites her thumb toward FAITH'S back as she gets into the sedan.

FAITH'S eyes flick to the rear view mirror. In the rear view mirror; she can see BUFFY biting her thumb. Suddenly, a blood curdling screech of tires - the sedan, rubber burning, reverses full speed toward BUFFY and DAWN. The mother in the station wagon brakes to avoid collision - a sports car shunts into her vehicle. Mother and children scream. Attendants scatter. The MACLAY car shudders to a halt inches from the truck, blocking its path. FAITH gets out of her car and hauls BUFFY from the truck. DAWN leaps out, ANGEL covers her. FAITH slams BUFFY against the side of the vehicle - then, goading her to go for her gun, screams:

FAITH: Do you bite your thumb at us, slayer?

BUFFY's shaking hand hovers - ready to draw.

BUFFY: I do bite my thumb, slayer

The panicked mother in the station wagon. She motions her children to the floor. All the Customers run for cover. FAITH is now in a hysterical rage; she shrieks:

FAITH: Do you bite you thumb at us, slayer?

BUFFY ( sweating, murmurs to DAWN) Is the law on our side if I say "yes"?

DAWN: No! Buffy give it up!

We are now in the bathroom. We see black cowboy boots, trousers down around them. The sound of a toilet flushing. The next cubicle, the door opens revealing XANDER. We head back outside and see BUFFY and FAITH still standing off.

BUFFY ( She is sweaty and worried): No, sir, I do not bite my thumb at you, slayer - but I do bite my thumb, slayer!

DAWN is watching her sister panic. She knows its time to speak up.

DAWN: Do you quarrel, slayer?

FAITH gives her a dangous smile. She was enjoying this alittle too much.

FAITH: Quarrel girl, no Dawnie

All the sudden BUFFY gets brave. She moves away from FAITH and kinds smile's at her

BUFFY: But if you do, miss, I am for you. I serve as good a girl as you

FAITH looks at BUFFY. Her eye's were wild with rage now. FAITH asks a lethal question.

FAITH: No better?

BUFFY then begans to feel trapped. She has pissed FAITH off big time now

BUFFY: Well, Faith I ermmmm

From Inside the station wagon. The mother does not notice her five year old aiming a toy gun toward the boys. Then Xnader emerging from the bathroom - DAWN see's him and starts to whispers maniacally

DAWN: Here comes our kinsman. Say better!

Then BUFFY smiles, stands up fully and pushes FAITH away

BUFFY ( screaming) YES SLAYER, BETTER!

FAITH screams with rage at BUFFY

FAITH: YOU LIER!!!!!!!

XANDER looks around and see's the trouble. He can see BUFFY and DAWN looking

worried and Maclay's gang ready for action.

FAITH: Faith if you dare!

We see all hands reach for guns. We also see BUFFY reaching for her stake. Then XANDER with weapon outstretched he screams:

XANDER: Part, fools! You know not what you do!

FAITH points her gun to everyone. She is full of rage and she wants blood. ANGEL is watching her every move. We see FAITH's gun and its engraved with:

I am the slayer!

XANDER: Put up your swords!

BUFFY, DAWN, FAITH, and ANGEL freeze. A moment - then from behind, the unmistakable sound of a gun being cocked. We see black cowboy boots. Then we come across dark cold eyes and feline smile, of the wearer of the boots. Her name is FRED; a cigarette is clenched between her teeth and her gun is aimed at XANDER's head.

FRED: What, art thou drawn amoung these heartless hinds? Turn thee XANDER.

XANDER, a choked explanation:

XANDER: I do but keep the peace.

FRED gives him a mocking smile...it chills him to the bone

FRED: Peace? I hate the word As I hate hell, all Rosenbergs, and...

We all see FRED's finger squeezing the trigger... Suddenly we hear firing from FRED's blind side. FRED redirects her weapon, cracking off a single shot at the surprise attacker. It is the five year old from the station wagon. The bullet smacks the toy gun from the child's hand, shattering the wagon's window. The Mother and children scream. A panicked XANDER falls back, accidentally his gun fires - the bullet whistles past FRED's head. FRED combat rolls, and using a screaming car load of girls as cover, returns two quick shots, narrowly missing XANDER. We see the the gas station attendant hitting a button and heavy metal screens slam down.

We see BUFFY firing - a bullet rips through FAITH's arm. ANGEL dives for cover; DAWN and DAWN leap into XANDER's truck. Rubber burns as they smash past the Maclay vehicle. We see FRED taking aim. Her first shot plugs the fuel tank, the second a tire. Out of control and spewing gasoline the Rosenberg truck careens across the highway and through the glass front of a supermarket. BUFFY and DAWN throw themselves from the truck moments before...then the gas tank erupts into an almighty fireball.

Then we a older man sitting around a table. He is the powerful 50 year old face of MARTIN MACLAY. Seated next to him is his much younger wife HEATHER.

Windows explode in a tidal wave of glass. Diners take cover. MACLAY moves fearlessly toward the window.

MARTIN MACLAY: Give me my long sword!

Then we see the name ROSENBERG. We see the word is the number plate of a large black limousine. The limousine is stuck in the traffic snarl - bullets bounce off its bullet proof

windshield. We see LRA ROSENBERG, a 55 year old red-faced bulldog of a man, bursts from the back of the limousine.

LRA ROSENBERG: What noise is this!

As LRA draws an enormous pearl handed revolver, SHELIA, his conservatively dressed wife, tries to restrain him

SHELIA: I wont let you make it worse! Let them fight it out

LRA: Hold me not, let me go!

Then we head back to the fighting. We see XANDER Crouched behind a truck, trying to reload his gun. Then we see the barrel of FRED's gun enters frame and presses into XANDER's forehead. FRED whispers sweetly

FRED: Look upon your death, Xander

We see FRED's finger on the trigger. XANDER screams a scream of mortal horror. Suddenly FRED is blinded by a burning shaft of light. A magnificently powerful helicopter gunship hovers above her. A command booms from the chopper's public address system.

CAPTAIN GILES ( over PA): Rebellious subjects, enemies to peace, Throw your mistempered weapons to the ground

The steely gray eyes of CAPTAIN GILES, chief of the Sunny dale Beach Police Department. He lifts the microphone and repeats the command.

CAPTAIN GILES: Throw your mistempered weapons to the ground!

FRED looks up to the chopper. Patrol cars screech to a halt. We can see that Sunny dale has a trail of devastation winds up through grid-locked traffic to the burning supermarket. In the distance looms an enormous statue of Christ flanked by two glass towers. We push toward the towers. One is neon-crowned ROSENBERG, the other, MACLAY.

A swarm of helicopters thunder into frame. We see compressed, time-lapsed, images of their journey. We see a coat of arms that labels a large tower - the emblem reads; "Sunny dale Beach Police Department: In God We Trust".

Then we are in the local police station. We see CAPTAIN GILES grim features. He eyes MACLAY and ROSENBERG.

CAPTAIN GILES: Three civil brawls, bred of an airy word By thee, old Maclay, and Rosenbreg, Have once again disturbed the quiet of our streets.

MACLAY's lawyer tries to intervene.

LAWYER: My noble Prince I can...

CAPTAIN GILES overriding, slams the desk

CAPTAIN GILES: If ever you disturb our streets again, Your lives shall pay the forfeit of the peace.

The whole room looks upom CAPTAIN GILES's determined gaze

Thats it for now. Please be nice and tell me what u think and I will add part 2 tomorrow sometime

ooooh im soooo happy u guys like it! I was soooo worried last nite coz I thought u would hate it. It took me 3 hours to write that part and even though I used the film and my Buffy brain, it was still hard.

For everyone who's read the book or seen the great film u would know the characters. Well I had to turn them into Buffy and Angel characters, so I had to pick the right ones. I know that in the film the characters are men - but theres not many guys in Buffy hehe. Also Angel and maybe Spike wear sun screen when they go out in the sun. If you have seen Blade you will know why.

So in the Rosenberg family there is:

Willow ( Romeo)

Ira Rosenbreg ( her dad)

Shelia Rosenbreg ( her mam)

Buffy Summers ( Greogory)

Dawn Summers ( Samson)

Xander Harris ( Benvolio)

Spike ( Balthasar)

And in Tara's family there is:

Tara ( Juliet)

Martin Maclay ( her dad)

Heather Maclay ( her mam)

Faith ( Abra)

Angel ( Pentruchio)

Fred ( Tyblalt)

So thats it for now. I will try to add more character's later but Im not sure yet. I am working on the second part now where we meet Willow. So I will post that 2nite and then work on doing the part where we meet Tara.

PART 2:

We are now inside Rosenberg's Limousine. Sitting in the Limo is LRA ROSENBERG, his wife SHELIA, and XANDER ride in uncomfortable silence. SHELIA finally speaks her anger.

SHELIA: O where is Willow? Saw you her today? ( she points at XANDER) Right glad I am she was not at this fray.

LRA ROSENBREG snorts derisively and stares out the window. Embarrassed, XANDER tries to be of assistance.

XANDER: Madam, underneath the sign for Sunny dale cinema so early walking did I see your daughter

LRA ROSENBREG speaks with contempt.

LRA: Many a morning hath she there been seen With tears augmenting the fresh morning's dew.

SHELIA tries to stop her tears from falling

SHELIA: Away from light steals home my heavy daughter And private in her chamber with different colour pens she cuts herself off, Shuts up her windows, locks fair daylight out And makes herself an artificial night.

LRA laughs in a cold way before he barks into the car intercom.

LRA: Westward from this city side

The limousine U-turns heading west. The ROSENBERG family car heads home

We move to the beach. we see a red head 21year old woman sitting alone on the empty sand. The girl is called, WILLOW. Looking out over the ocean she sucks on the last of a cigarette and then writes intensely in a small worn note book.

WILLOW: Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs; Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes; Being vexed, a sea nourished with lovers' tears. What is it else? A madness most discreet, A choking gall and a preserving sweet.

ROSENBERG Limo is now parked across from WILLOW. Opposite the limo, young diehard clubbers, faded drag queens and street people, hang outside a dilapidated nightclub. The Sunny dale Cinema is playing old films while we see BUFFY and DAWN walking down the road. They seem too busy playing with a beer can. LRA, SHELIA and XANDER sit watching the silhouette of WILLOW on the beach.

IRA: Black and portentous must this humour prove, I wish we got her a kitty after all

They see WILLOW rise from the sand listlessly makes her way up the beach - seeing her father's car she turns and heads for the path that hugs the beach front. XANDER knows he has to go and make sure WILLOW'S doing fine.

XANDER: So please you step aside. I'll know her grievance or be much denied.

XANDER clambers out of the limo. We see IRA smile and nod at XANDER.

IRA: Your such a good boy. It's a shame your never be my son in law. Come Madam. Let's away.

The limousine pulls away and XANDER heads after WILLOW. He pauses. A deck at the rear of "Sick Amore" sprawls onto the beach. At the base of the deck, XANDER can see WILLOW squatting in discussion with an old drunk. XANDER approaches with a not very convincing casualness.

XANDER: Good morrow, Will's

WILLOW turns. Sore, red, unfriendly eyes squint back at XANDER.

WILLOW: Is the day so young?

XANDER: Yeah like always, Will

WILLOW rises, XANDER follows. He know's WILLOW is heartbroken.

WILLOW: Sad hours seem long. It's dark like my magic power

WILLOW stops as if taking in XANDER for the first time. XANDER walks into WILLOW'S back, almost knocking her over.

WILLOW: Was that my father that went hence so fast?

XANDER look's down at his feet. His eye patch block's his left side, WILLOW wished he would look her in the eyes.

XANDER: Yeah it was ( he bows his head)

XANDER chases WILLOW down the path which divides the beach from a string of cheap souvenir shops and sleazy bars. The Coffee shop was packed and WILLOW could see BUFFY AND DAWN waving at her from the shop.

XANDER: What sadness lengthens Willow's hours?

WILLOW: Not having true love that makes my hours long - and also not having a kitty

XANDER: In love?

WILLOW: Out

XANDER: Of love??

WILLOW: Good god, dont you read the lines??

XANDER: Very funny Will

WILLOW: Sorry, Out of her favor where I am in love.

XANDER: Alas that love, so gentle in her view, Should be so tyrannical and rough in proof!

WILLOW: Alas that love, whose view...

WILLOW is halted by the sight of last night's disturbance displayed on a small TV screen in an outdoor bar.

WILLOW: What fray was here? Once again in fair old Sunny dale

XANDER goes to reply to WILLOW. But she cuts him off and yells at XANDER

WILLOW: Yet tell me not, for I have heard it all. Here's much to do with hate, but more with love.

She walks off blabbing to XANDER. He smiles at her words and let's her rant some more. WILLOW turns the corner away from the beach. She strides along the sidewalk blabbing.

WILLOW: Why then, O brawling love, O loving hate, O anything, of nothing first create! I hear nothing but hate these days. I have lost my love due to being me, Willow! Ah, I wish I could go around shooting people and being angry. The Beatles once said All you need is love - love is all we need! This place and the world has become one big plate of jelly-o!

WILLOW screams at a huge bouncer who lounges in the doorway of a sex club.

WILLOW: This love feel I, that feel no love in this!

The bouncer's hand moves to his gun. WILLOW, ignoring him, turns on XANDER. He is using mocking laughter through tears:

WILLOW: Why are you laughing???

XANDER, nervously eyeing the bouncer, shepherds WILLOW out of danger.

XANDER: Willow, baby, your blabbing once again

WILLOW smiles at her friend. They both smile before WILLOW pulls away from him

WILLOW: Farewell, my dear Xander

WILLOW, breaking into a jog, leaves XANDER behind. XANDER pursues her down the street

We see WILLOW running to her car. We also see a guy sleeping in her car. Spike sleeps on the hood of a magnificent silver car. Three or four kids doze on the sidewalk. As WILLOW approaches, they jump up and begin vigorously polishing the already gleaming car. Spike wakes. He springs off the hood, chases the kids away, then, producing a huge bunch of keys, opens the car door for WILLOW. XANDER intercepts WILLOW at the car.

XANDER: Tell me in sadness, who is it that you love.

WILLOW: In sadness, Xand, I do love...a woman.

XANDER: News flash Will - everyone knows!

WILLOW leans against the car and rolls her eyes

WILLOW: A right good marksman; and she's fair I love.

WILLOW pulls her shirt down to reveal a small shoulder tattoo. The tattooed word reads AMY

XANDER: Amy! ( He looks impressed) A right fair mark, fair coz, is soonest hit.

WILLOW: She'll not be hit with Cupid's arrow. She didnt fall after I used that love spell. And in strong proof of chastity lives well armed.

XANDER can't believe it. WILLOW is a dark horse and he never thought AMY was her ideal woman.

XANDER: Then she hath sworn that she will still live chaste?

WILLOW: She hath; and in that sparing makes huge waste.

XANDER looks at WILLOW. He has a plan working in his brain.

XANDER: Whoa. Whoa! I... I think I'm having a thought. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's a thought. Now I'm having a plan

WILLOW: O, teach me great teacher how I should forget to think!

XANDER indicates one of the working girls already strutting the foot path.

XANDER: By giving liberty unto thine eyes. Examine other beauties.

WILLOW laughs dismissively. She throws the kids a few coins and slides into the drivers seat. SPIKE jumps in back.

WILLOW: Farewell. Thou canst not teach me to forget. We are off to the Bronze

XANDER: I'll pay with my blood, or I'll stake Spike here and now

XANDER leaps into the passenger seat of the moving vehicle.

We are now taken into the MACLAY office. Past monstrous letters that read MACLAY and in through a window to discover MARTIN MACLAY. He stares out the window toward the other tallest building in Sunny dale; the one crested with the word ROSENBERG.

MARTIN MACLAY: Those Rosenberg's are nothing but pains! We are the rulers of this fair city

MACLAY turns: on the other side of his desk sits RILEY FINN; a square-jawed young man in a red cashmere sweater. Tea has been served from an exquisite silver tea service.

MARTIN MACLAY: But I think it's time to heal the war.

RILEY smiles obligingly.

RILEY FINN: Of honorable reckoning are you both, And pity 'tis you lived at odds so long.

An awkward pause: RILEY sips tea, then, with a deep breath...

RILEY FINN: But now, my lord, what say you to my suit?

MACLAY considers the framed photograph on his desk.

MARTIN MACLAY: But saying o'er what I have said before; My child is yet a stranger in the world. She's never been in love with a boy, she needs a good man. I believe she is ripe to be a bride.

RILEY is politely insistent

RILEY FINN: Younger than she are happy mothers made.

MARTIN MACLAY ( laughs): And too soon marred are those so early made. Earth hath swallowed all my hopes but she; She is the hopeful lady of my earth.

MARTIN rounds the desk and places a fatherly hand on RILEY's shoulder.

MARTIN MACLAY: But woo her, gentle Paris, get her heart. My will to her consent is but a part, And she agreed, within her scope of choice Lies my consent and fair according voice. This night I hold an old Accustomed feast. At my poor house, look to behold this night, Fresh female buds that make dark heaven light. Hear all; all see, And like her most whose merit most shall be. She really does need a good man in her life!

MARTIN smiles knowingly. RILEY seems encouraged.

MARTIN ( hits Riley on his back): Come for a beer with me!

MARTIN excitedly ushers RILEY from the office.

William Shakespear and Rebecca Stone's

Rosenberg and Maclay

PART 3:

WILLOW, XANDER and SPIKE are now playing pool. SPIKE is sitting under the shadow's after his sun screen ran out. WILLOW AND XANDER were still chatting about girls.

XANDER ( chalking his cue): Take a look around - sexy girls everywhere!

He lines up the six ball top pocket.

XANDER: How about Buffy?? She's strong if alittle insane

A hopeless shot that slams the eight ball toward the side pocket. WILLOW stops it with her hand and hurls it against the other balls.

XANDER: Why, Willow, art thou mad?

SPIKE laughs and nods at XANDER. Then Willow sinks the other balls with her hands.

WILLOW: Not mad, but bound more than a madman is; Shut up in prison, kept without my food,

WILLOW stalks away from the table.

WILLOW: Everyone's getting spanked but me!

She stops at the gun check, rummaging in her pocket.

WILLOW: Good day, young man

A crusty old man looks up from the small television. His entire face a tattooed shooting target, the bullseye between his eyes. The old man points to the sign that reads: "No ticket no gun." WILLOW finally produces a ticket. Crusty the Target goes out back. WILLOW's attention is caught by the television.

An ostentatious woman and her over groomed partner Rich, hosts what looks to be a kind of Entertainment Tonight show. The graphic behind them reads "Solemnity Nights" with Joyce Santandiago and Rich Ranchidis.

JOYCE speaks conspiratorially to camera.

JOYCE: Now I'll tell you without asking. The great Rich Maclay, holds an old accustomed feast;

RICH Rich chimes in:

RICH: A fair Assembly.

JOYCE: I Pray you sir can you read?

A list of names begins to scroll across the screen. Rich reads them off.

RICH: Signor Placentio and his wife and daughters, Signor Martino, the Lady Widow Of Utruvio and her lovely nieces, Amy and Livia...

XANDER, he leans into WILLOW. She is looking like she was about to blabble once again

XANDER: At this same ancient feast of Maclay's Sups the fair Amy; whom thou so loves, With all the admired beauties of Sunny dale. You dont think she would give it up?? Willow, she's not that easy!

WILLOW: Amy isnt like other girls! She has class....

The old guy returns. He hands them their guns.

WILLOW: The all-seeing sun Ne'er saw her match since first the world begun.

From behind her, the televison is still on. WILLOW and XANDER look back at the tv.

JOYCE: If you be not of the house of Rosenberg, Come and crush a cup of wine!

RICH: Miss it if you dare!

We see WILLOW, she considers. She always liked a good little party

WILLOW: I'll go along, no such sight to be shown. But to rejoice in splendour of mine own.

They all leave the pool hall.

We now see the MACLAY estate. It's a very sunny day. Armed guards patrol the grounds. The telecaption reads "Maclay Mansion." We sweep down through manicured gardens, where workers prepare decorations for tonight's celebrations, and into the house. The we hear the desperate calling of a girl's name.

T-A-R-A

After a little break, we hear the voice again

T-A-R-A

We are then taken into a bathroom. From under the water we see the submerged features of a beautiful young girl. Blond hair gently frames the face. Heavy liquid eyes stare up through the water. Once again we hear, though faintly, the calling:

T-A-R-A

With a rush TARA surfaces. As she gulps air, we realise that she is in fact, in a bath. We hear the calling loudly again.

T-A-R-A

TARA listens. For a moment she is very still, then she closes her eyes and slides back beneath the surface of the water. Then we see the main hall of the MACLAY estate. The entrance hall is crowded with workers and servants preparing for tonight's party. HEATHER MACLAY fiddles with a short black wig in the hallway mirror. She is attired in full Cleopatra costume. Dissatisfied with the wig, she rips it from her head and calls maniacally.

HEATHER: T-A-R-A

HEATHER is met by the NURSE, a fat, grandmotherly Hispanic woman.

HEATHER: Nurse, where's my daughter? Call her forth to me. That girl can be nothing but trouble

NURSE: I bade her come. God forbid! Where's this girl? Tara!

The top of the stairs. As if from nowhere, TARA has appeared. She wears a bathrobe and her hair is wet.

TARA: Mother I am here....whats the deal?

HEATHER, startled, sweeps up the stairs and shuffles her daughter toward a doorway.

HEATHER: Nurse, give leave awhile, we must talk in secret

HEATHER shepherds TARA into her opulent dressing room and closes the door. She circles with nervous vexation searching for words, stops, then suddenly opens the door and yells out to the Nurse.

HEATHER: Nurse, come back again. I have remembered me, thou's hear our counsel.

The NURSE enters. HEATHER, still refusing eye contact, checks her appearance once more in the mirror. She takes a hairbrush and, feigning pleasantness, intensely brushes her hair.

HEATHER: Nurse, thou knowest my daughter's of a pretty age.

NURSE ( to Tara): Thou wast the prettiest blond hair and blue eyed babe that I've nursed.

The hair brush clatters onto the dresser. A moment of tense silence. HEATHER grips herself and pours a sherry. Back still turned, she speaks to her daughter.

HEATHER: By my count, I was your mother much upon these years That you are now a maid.

A nembutal twists like a pin in the corner of HEATHER's mouth. She slugs it down with the sherry and turns abruptly to face TARA.

HEATHER: Thus then in brief, the valiant Riley seeks you for his love.

Then TARA gives her mother an uncomprehending stare. The Nurse, caught off guard, tries to buoy the situation

NURSE: A man, young lady! Lady, such a man As all the world - why, he's a man of wax.

TARA: But I dont want to......

The medication takes immediate effect upon HEATHER . She joins TARA on the couch and coos in RILEY's favour.

HEATHER: Sunny dale's summer hath not such a flower.

NURSE: Nay, he's a flower; in faith, a very flower.

TARA: It feel's like I'm talking to a wall - I said I dont want to!

HEATHER: This night you shall behold him at our feast; Read o'er the volume of young RILEY'S face And find delight writ there with beauty's pen. This precious book of love, this unbound lover, To beautify him only lacks a cover. So shall you share all that he doth possess, By having him, making yourself no less.

HEATHER probes TARA's thoughts.

HEATHER: Can you love a man like him??

TARA, adept at negotiating her mother's strange moods, chooses her words precisely.

TARA: I think I could lower myself to become like you!

TARA smile's at her mother. Then the door opens and PETER the chauffeur enters.

PETER: The guests have arrvied

HEATHER: Oh dear god! We follow thee.

She exits, NURSE follows behind. TARA stares out the windows and across the water. Suddenly the NURSE's face leers into shot. She whispers enthusiastically into TARA's ear.

NURSE: Go girl, seek happy nights to happy days.

TARA smiles and nods. The NURSE is the only person who knows the real TARA. And what TARA longs for in her life.

thanks Visual Fallacy :) I am working on another part tonite which I will post maybe later or tomorrow.

I have been thinking why I've picked such a wonderful story like Romeo and Juliet. I guess from the very first time I saw Willow and Tara, I thought they were very much like them. They met, fell in love, Tragedy happens by the hand of Glory, then Tara comes back, they fall back in love, they break up, fall back into each others arms and then Tara dies!

So thats why I've picked this story. I believe I can make it like a huge Buffy story. I cant change too much of Shakespears story coz its a classic! But I will add more Buffy parts but always have Shakespear's great words of love and pain.

William Shakespear and Rebecca Stone's

Rosenberg and Maclay

PART 4:

It's nighttime and WILLOW is sitting on the grubby shoreline of Sunny dale Bay dressed as Joan of Ark, with fake chain mail and sword. WILLOW watches the dying flare sink into the bay. The sound of the party drifts across the water. SPIKE, dressed as Frankenstein's monster, touches a lighter to a large bong and WILLOW inhales smoke. Behind them, XANDER, drunk and dressed as a pizza, is yelling at BUFFY, who, dressed as Little Red Riding Hood, is trying to cut slices off his pizza costume. DAWN, who dressed like a Cheerleader, sits in the back of a car. One arm is bandaged and she swigs from a bottle. Suddenly the darkness is slashed by headlights.

A reckless sports car speeds toward the gang. Stereo screaming, the car skids to a halt. Then we see a car pulling up, music blareing from the sound system. A silver stilettoed foot emerges from the car and plants itself firmly in the dirt. The gang, eyes wide with amazement watch the person come out from the car. Then we see another stiletto following the first shoe.We then see slowly up a shapely pair of black stockinged legs, past a hint of garter belt to a black sequined mini-skirt and up over a muscular white skinned stomach and tiny sequined bra top, to see a 22 year old woman, her name is ANYA. The gang Recovering from the initial shock, they laugh and cat-call raucously. We see ANYA dancing and yelling over the loud music.

ANYA: Hello my little demon lovers!

ANYA magically produces invitations from somewhere within her mini-skirt and dances down the beach to the gang. Aggressively bumping and grinding, ANYA distributes the invitations. Reaching WILLOW, she kisses her and hugs her.

ANYA: We'll on without apology.

WILLOW lets the invitation fall to the sand

WILLOW: I am not for this ambling. Being but heavy, I will bear the light.

WILLOW pulls on the bong once more. Suddenly, ANYA is upon WILLOW. Hauling her to her feet, she waltzes her through the sand.

ANYA: No way, gentle Willow, we must have you dance

WILLOW pushes ANYA away.

WILLOW: Not I, believe me. You have dancing shoes With nimble soles. I have a soul of lead. I am better off my feet!

ANYA grins in mock sympathy

ANYA: Too great oppression for a tender thing.

WILLOW: Is love a tender thing? It is too rough, too rude, too boisterous, and it pricks like thorn.

WILLOW lies staring up at the stars. They look so beautiful tonight.

ANYA: If love be rough with you, be rough with love. Or I could set some evil vengeance demon on them

ANYA jumps on WILLOW

ANYA: Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down.

ANYA: I see O, then I see Queen Mab hath been with you. She is the fairies' midwife, and she comes In shape no bigger than an agate stone On the forefinger of an alderman, Drawn with a team of little atomies Over girl's noses as they lie asleep.

Tantalisingly, she passes the case beneath WILLOW's nose.

ANYA: Her chariot is an empty hazelnut, Her wagoner a small gray-coated gnat.

With a conjurer's dexterity ANYA extracts a small, gray pill.

ANYA: And in this state she gallops night by night Through lovers' brains, and then they dream of love;

She palms the pills. It reappears from behind WILLOW's ear

ANYA: O'er lawyers' fingers who straight dream on fees; O'er ladies' lips, who straight on kisses dream, Which oft the angry Mab with blisters plagues. Because their breaths with sweetmeats tainted are.

The pill box glints in the moonlight.

ANYA: Sometime she driveth o'er a soldier's neck; And then dreams he of cutting foreign throats. And being thus frighted, swears a prayer or two And sleeps again.

ANYA now intensely angry:

ANYA: This is that very Mab That plaits the manes of horses in the night And bakes the elf-locks in foul sluttish hairs He screams into the night. This is the hag, when maids lie on their backs, That presses them and learns them first to bear, Making them women of good carriage. This is she, this is she...

ANYA walks off from the gang. There is a strange stillness amongst the group. WILLOW goes to her friend.

WILLOW: Peace, peace, Anya, peace. Thou talkest of nothing.

ANYA locks eye's with WILLOW. They seem to be thinking the same thing

ANYA: True, I talk of dreams; Which are the children of an idle brain, Begot of nothing but vain fantasy. Which is as thin of substance as the air And more inconstant than the wind, who woos Even now the frozen bosom of the north And, being angered, puffs away from thence Turning his attention to the dew- dropping south.

We see XANDER in the car. The alcohol has caught up with him and he looks a little queasy.

XANDER: This wind you talk of blows us from ourselves: Supper is done and we shall come too late. So get your asses in the car!

WILLOW looks toward the distant city.

WILLOW: I fear, too early, for my mind misgives Some consequence yet hanging in the stars Shall bitterly begin his fearful date With this night's revels, and expire the term Of a despised life closed in my breast. A beautiful girl with blond hair and blue eye's dying.....untimely death

A firework turns the water golden as it explode's across the bay. WILLOW smiles.

WILLOW: But he that hath the steerage of my course Direct my sail!

She takes the pill and drops it into her mouth.

WILLOW: On, lusty girls!

With the rush of a mind altering cocktail, we see WILLOW's eyes; they shimmer with the shooting star reflection of exploding fireworks. Then From WILLOW's eyes. She is lying in the passenger seat of ANYA's convertible as it rockets along the freeway. We can see down above WILLOW. She stares up at the fireworks that reflect in the windshield. The car and freeway begin to rotate and we follow. We feel that the car is now travelling upside-down. This is gonna be one hell of a party.

William Shakespear and Rebecca Stone's

Rosenberg and Maclay

PART 5:

From the dark night's sky we see glittering dots of fire refracting from the sparkling domed roof of the magnificently ornate MACLAY's Ballroom. We can see the bizarrely costumed revellers cavorting to a driving Latin big band. We then see a drugged ANYA and XANDER who shamelessly caper with each other in a mock antic adagio. We see WILLOW gazing blankly at the dance floor. She is now stoned out of her tree. Then ANYA sweeps up a thirty-something sophisticate and twirls her in WILLOW's direction.

ANYA: Isn't she lovely??

WILLOW moves off through the crowd.

From inside WILLOW'S mind they are Contorted images of costumed guests eat, drink and laugh in a grotesque collision of Yves Saint Laurent cocktail party and Bacchanalian romp. Suddenly a large arm coils around WILLOW's neck. We see a seriously intoxicated MARTIN MACLAY; his puffy red face squeezes against WILLOW's.

MARTIN MACLAY: Ah, I have seen the day that I could Tell a whispering tale in a fair ladies ear. Such as would please.

WILLOW looks at him. She takes a deep breath before MARTIN MACLAY screams:

MARTIN MACLAY: Come musicians play!

Blood drums in WILLOW's ears. Breaking free from MACLAY's grasp as she pushes through the crowd toward the bathroom. We see a Silent, underwater shot. WILLOW's tranquil features submerged in a basin of water. With a gasp, WILLOW rises. A moment. Her breathing calms. Then, smoothing water into her red hair, she gazes into the bathroom mirror. she turns: The entire wall opposite the mirror, is a magnificent salt- water fish tank. WILLOW, drawn by it's submarine beauty, leans against the fish tank. Applause echoes faintly through the bathroom speakers.

From outside the bathroom, in the huge ballroom we hear the applause die. A blond headed singer, MELANIE DOANE takes center stage. The band ease into the opening bars of a love ballad.

Back inside the bathroom. As the music swells, WILLOW watches a moustached catfish glide past a medieval castle. Suddenly, WILLOW pulls away. Peering back at her through the castle is a pair of exquisitely beautiful angelic eyes.

The Diva's first pure, achingly beautiful notes soar.

Confused, WILLOW looks again. There is no mistake - it is a girl. Through a shimmering curtain of ribbon weed, two blue wide eyes, a childish nose and sumptuous full lips. WILLOW pushes her face closer to the glass. The other face snaps abruptly away.

On the other side of the fish tank. TARA, dressed as an angel. We now realise that the girls' powder room and the boys' bathroom are divided by this watery wonder world. And somehow WILLOW was in the boy's bathroom. That make's TARA laugh then she warily moves closer to the glass.

From the otherside in the man's bathroom, WILLOW leans her face against the glass. The love ballad builds.

MELANIE DOANE: So dear to me / Always keep my company / Who needs to go outside I will be your silent bride / I cant take my eyes off you

Back inside the bathroom, WILLOW looks through to TARA. They both peering into the tank. WILLOW presses her nose lightly against the glass. TARA gives her a tiny smile in return.

MELANIE DOANE: Nothing ever needs to be said / You send your message right into my head / You fill me up when I'm alone / So soothing is your monotone

Suddenly, CRASH! The door slams open. TARA turns, startled. It is the Nurse.

NURSE: Tara, your mother calls.

The Nurse bustles TARA out the door. TARA looks over her shoulder at the mystery girl.

WILLOW, now without her mask, slams out of the bathroom - TARA and the Nurse have disappeared into the crowd. TARA being dragged along by the Nurse. She glances back toward the mystery girl, but she is gone. TARA and the Nurse rejoin RILEY FINN, who is dressed as an cow boy, and HEATHER, at the side of the dance floor. RILEY, irresistible smile, extends his hand to TARA.

RILEY: Will you now deny to dance?

TARA looks to RILEY, desperately searching for a reason to decline. HEATHER, brushing aside her silly daughter's protests, slugs the last of her champagne and corrals them onto the dance floor

HEATHER (whispering to Juliet): A man, young lady, such a man.

As TARA is dragged onto the floor her eyes furtively search for the girl. We see WILLOW in the crowd. Desperate to find the girl, she roughly shunts aside a reveller dressed as Lucifer, Prince of Darkness. Then Lucifer removes her mask: it is FRED. She turns to FAITH, who's dressed as a demon.

FRED: What, dares the slave come hither to fleer and scorn at our solemnity? Now by the stock and honor of my kin To strike her dead I hold it not a sin! I am gonna kick her ass!

FRED moves off aggressively, but is halted as MARTIN MACLAY slams a hand into her chest.

MARTIN MACLAY: Why how now Winifred Burkle , wherefore storm you so?

FRED hated it when MARTIN called her by her full name.

FRED: Uncle, this is that villain Willow, a Rosenbreg, our foe.

MARTIN MACLAY: Young Willow is it??

FRED: Yes it's her! She has to die!

MARTIN MACLAY: Content thee gentle coz, let her alone. I would not for the wealth of all this town Here in my house do her disparagement. Therefore be patient; take no note of her.

Both FRED and FAITH couldnt believe what they heared.

FRED: I'll not endure her. She has to die!

MARTIN MACLAY then exploded with rage

MARTIN MACLAY ( hitting FRED hard on the face): She shall be endured! What, goodman girl! I say she shall! Go to.

MARTIN violently shoves FRED to the ground.

MARTIN MACLAY: You'll make a mutiny among my guests!

A middle aged couple look on shocked - MARTIN waves to them festively:

MARTIN MACLAY: What? Cheerly my hearts!

MARTIN and FRED look at each other in disgust.

MARTIN MACLAY: You'll not endure her! Am I the master here or you? Go to.

Smoothing his hair into place, MARTIN turns back into the ballroom. We then see FRED choking back tears of rage.

We then see WILLOW moving through the crowd. For a moment the crush clears and she spies the Angel on the dance floor. WILLOW'S eyes smile before she licks her dry lips

WILLOW ( whispers): Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight. For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night.

WILLOW begins to circumnavigate the dance floor in an attempt to get closer to TARA. RILEY is still slow dancing with TARA. We then see WILLOW'S eye's and TARA'S eye's looking for each other.

Then their eyes connect.

MELANIE DOANE: I cant take my eyes off you / I cant take my eyes off you

Then TARA looks quickly back to RILEY who, oblivious, returns his most devastating smile.

MELANIE DOANE: So maybe your not as real as the other / But I choose you over all my past lovers / For they have come and they have gone / But I can always turn you on

We see TARA Unable to look away from the girl, she stares over RILEY'S shoulder. WILLOW. Ignoring the danger, she continues to move toward the Angel.

MELANIE DOANE: I cant take my eyes off you / I cant take my eyes off you

With the Diva's spiralling final notes, the ballad concludes. As the crowd break into wild applause, TARA's eyes search the darkness, but the girl is gone. The crowd cheers and screams its applause. An avalanche of balloons, tinsel and confetti rains down from the roof; swathes of red silk drop from the ceiling and the space is transformed. TARA is still looking for the girl. Suddenly: A gasp, TARAs eyes widen, shocked. In the dark, a hand has shot out from the drape curtaining off the stage and clasped hers. TARA barely dares breathe. She glances furtively to RILEY FINN - he watches the stage.

Slowly TARA turns toward the hand; there through a break in the curtain she can see eye, cheek and lips of the mystery girl. As the Diva reprises the chorus, WILLOW gently pulls TARA behind the curtain.

I also really like the way that you've given Fred quite a large role, there isnt enough of her in these fanfics!

Rosenberg and Maclay

PART 6:

They were now Concealed from the party by the red velvet drape, hands still clasped, the women were so close their bodies almost touch. TARA looked into WILLOW's green eyes and felt her heart miss a beat. WILLOW looked deep into TARA'S blue eyes and her heart began to beat faster.

WILLOW: I have ever seen such beauty. My words are meanless and my heart tells me that you feel the same. I can't stop myself, sweet angel

WILLOW moves her lips toward TARA's. She stops her.

TARA: I....I cant do this....I'm too s-scared

WILLOW: Just one kiss.....

TARA: I feel like I'm stuck. Like I'm at the door and it won't open

WILLOW: Sweet angel, I know how you feel

WILLOW move's in closer and gently kisses TARA. She pulls away, scared before falling into the kiss

WILLOW: Thus from my lips, by thine my sin is purged.

TARA: Then have my lips the sin that they have took.

WILLOW: Sin from my lips? O trespass sweetly urged! Give me my sin again.

TARA grin's at WILLOW and moves in for another gentle kiss

TARA: Wow! You kiss by th' book.

They kiss again. They kiss with more passion, Suddenly a harsh light falls across the entwined couple. They break apart - Nurse has pulled open the curtain and stands eyeing them severely.

NURSE: Madam, your mother craves a word with you.

Once back inside the ball room, We see that the party is breaking up. But for groups of die-hard revellers, the room is nearly empty.

NURSE: Hurry now, Come, let's away.

She takes firm control of her charge. TARA furtively motions for the startled WILLOW not to follow as she trails them across the room. The NURSE and TARA reach the door, but instead of leaving, they turn and ascend the staircase that arcs around to the mezzanine level. They join a vexed HEATHER MACLAY who clings to a patient RILEY FINN. Inaudible words are exchanged. TARA flickers her eyes nervously to WILLOW. Then WILLOW, she halts at the foot of the stairs unsure. HEATHER MACLAY can see her daughter interest in the girl, she indicates to her daughter to 'COME ALONG'. Then it hit's WILLOW hard and she gets a dawning realisation.

WILLOW ( under her breath ) : Is she a Maclay?

TARA looks back at WILLOW. She watche's her new friend comprehending the reality of who she is. From behind TARA, the NURSE whispers in her ear.

NURSE: Her name is Willow, and a Rosenbreg, The only daughter of your great enemy.

TARA is in shock. Like a cloud passing across the sun, a dark coldness descends upon her. Then she see's ANYA who throws herself onto the shock WILLOW.

ANYA: Away, begone, the sport is at its best. And Xander wants me out of this skirt...lets go!

ANYA shuttles WILLOW toward the door.

WILLOW: Ay so I fear

A covert glance over her shoulder.

WILLOW: The more is my unrest.

Outside the mansion, ANYA bundles WILLOW through the front door and down the stairs to the waiting getaway car.

From inside the house, we see TARA Manoeuvred by the Nurse up the stairs, she breaks away and rushes to a tiny, windowed alcove.

Outside, we see ANYA's convertible and its noisy confederacy

joining the line of departing limos. A huge sign combusts into blinding fireworks that write in giant words "MACLAY." As the convertible passes beneath the blazing words, WILLOW

turns. Through a deluge of falling sparks, she glimpses the

mystery girl high up in the tower.

From inside the house, we see TARA is leaning out of the tower window. Brilliant sparkles light in her eyes.

TARA ( whispers): My only love, sprung from my only hate. Too early seen unknown, and known too late. Prodigious birth of love it is to me

TARA watches WILLOW drive off in slow motion through the

falling curtain of fiery embers.

TARA: That I must love a loathed enemy.

From inside the house, Warm wind blows the smoke from the expended fireworks. TARA closes the window and leans against the glass. We move down The side of the building past revellers who don't know when to leave. Standing in the front doorway is someone else who cannot take their eyes off the departing WILLOW. It is FRED.

FRED: I will withdraw. But this intrusion shall, Now seeming sweet, convert to bitterest gall.

We are now back with the Rosenbreg gang. Caught in the jam of departing vehicles, ANYA's car crawls along the bridge that links MACLAY island with the mainland. The gang is sing along raucously with the radio.

GANG: Not gonna get us

They are not gonna get us

Not gonna get us

Not gonna get us

They are not gonna get us

They are not gonna get us

Not gonna get us

We see WILLOW. She is still thinking about the beautiful blond, blue eyed girl.

WILLOW ( whispers ): Can I go forward when my heart is here? Turn back, feel that love once more. I love that beautiful angel

WILLOW leaps from the car. XANDER yells after her.

XANDER: Willow! wicca Willow! Willow!

WILLOW runs back along the bridge toward the estate. At the gates, armed guards supervise the exodus of vehicles. WILLOW uses the traffic to shield herself from view. WILLOW leaps from the bridge and into the shadows at the base of the high stone wall that borders the compound. ANYA's car prowls back along the bridge. The last guests have departed and the gates are swinging shut. The convertible halts in front of them.

XANDER: He ran this way. Call, good Anya.

ANYA: I know, you dont have to thank me

ANYA leaps from the car. She postures like a magician in a low-budget variety special. The gang cheer her on.

ANYA: Willow! Humours! Madman! Passion! Lover! I conjure thee by Amy's bright eyes, By her high forehead and her scarlet lip, By her fine foot, straight leg, and quivering thigh! Think with heart this time - WILLOW!

WILLOW'S fake chain mail shirt tangled in the barbed wire at the top of the wall. We see WILLOW, now on the other side of the wall, pulls up her undershirt and gingerly inspects the cuts inflicted by the wire. ANYA's cavorting echoes from the bridge. WILLOW smiles ironically.

WILLOW: She jests at scars that never felt a wound.

WILLOW moves off through the darkened grounds of MACLAY estate.

The gang laugh hysterically as ANYA staggers around the bridge in imitation of a love sick fool.

ANYA: Oh Willow, she will cry! Take me now!

The hilarity is abruptly arrested as a security spotlight blazes to life, pinning ANYA in its beam. The sound of automatic weapons cocking pierces the night. ANYA, she's brave but not stupid. She gets back into the car. BUFFY, DAWN, SPIKE and XANDER laugh when she sits down and turns to XANDER. They both smile at each other

ANYA: Come, shall we go?

William Shakespear and Rebecca Stone's

Rosenberg and Maclay

PART 7:

We see a pair of stone cherubs on top of the retaining wall of a terraced of TARA'S garden. Then we see WILLOW's face appears between them. WILLOW hauls herself up onto the wall. Below is a Greco- Roman style pool area. It's to the right the darkened rear wing of MACLAY Mansion. Suddenly the back of the house explodes with light. WILLOW takes cover.

WILLOW: But soft, what light through yonder window breaks?

WILLOW's question is answered as out onto the verandah comes TARA. She is still clad in her angel robe, but without the halo and wings. She slowly descends to pool level.

WILLOW: It is the East, and Tara is the sun! Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, Who is already sick and pale with grief That thou her maid art far more fair than she. Be not her maid, since she is envious. Her vestal livery is but sick and green, And none but fools do wear it.

TARA stands on the top step of the pool stairs. She is directly below WILLOW as she whispers.

WILLOW: Cast it off!

TARA sits on the edge of the pool, her legs dangle in the water.

WILLOW: It is my lady. O, it is my love! She is my speical angel!

TARA sighs. WILLOW smiles at that sound

WILLOW: She speaks. O, speak again, bright angel!

TARA looks longingly toward the stars.

TARA: O Willow, Willow! - Whyfore art thou Willow? Deny thy father and refuse thy name. Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I'll no longer be a Maclay, only a Rosenbreg.

WILLOW'S mind is working over time now

WILLOW: Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?

TARA: 'Tis but thy name that is my enemy. Thou are thyself, though not a Rosenbreg. What's Rosenbreg? It is not hand nor foot Nor arm nor face nor any other part Belonging to a girl. O, be some other name! What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other word would smell as sweet. So Willow would, were she not Willow called, Retain that dear perfection which she owes Without that title. Willow, doff thy name, And for thy name, which is no part of thee, Take all myself.

WILLOW wildly calls:

WILLOW: I take thee at thy word! Call me but love, and I'll be new baptised. Henceforth I never will be Willow!.

WILLOW jumps down from the wall. TARA screams, and turns, toppling backwards.

WILLOW grabs her hand but her momentum overbalances her and they both plunge headlong into the pool. From underwater, we see a slow motion phosphorescent tangle of arms, legs and bodies. From outside the garden, a security guard is alerted by the noise he moves toward the pool area. Above water, WILLOW and TARA surface spluttering. TARA thrashes the water in an attempt to get distance from her attacker.

TARA: What the hell?? How long have you been here??

WILLOW knows she scared TARA.

WILLOW: By a name I know not how to tell thee who I am: My name, dear saint, is hateful to myself Because it is an enemy to thee.

The ferocious barking of a guard dog arrests the women's attention. A moment, then they slide beneath the water. Then The security guard and dog appearing above the pool area. The guard can see the rippling surface of the water. From underneath the water, WILLOW and TARA submerged, hair streaming, stare at each other like two beautiful fish. Then the guard looks around.. He can see noisy caterers cleaning up around the other side of the house. Frowning, he returns the way he came. Then WILLOW and TARA. Gasping for air, they cautiously surface. A moment - then TARA, a small smile.

TARA: Art thou not Willow, and a Rosenberg?

WILLOW: Neither, fair maid, if either thee dislike.

TARA looks nervously toward the house. She drags WILLOW toward a small grotto at the end of the pool.

TARA: How cam'st thou hither, tell me, and whyfore? The garden walls are high and hard to climb, And the place death, considering who thou art.

WILLOW: With love's light wings did I o'er perch these walls. For stony limits cannot hold love out, And what love can do, that dares love attempt. Therefore thy kinsmen are no stop to me.

TARA drags WILLOW firmly into the grotto.

TARA: If they do see thee, they will murder thee.

WILLOW slowly pulls TARA toward her.

WILLOW: I have night's cloak to hide me from their eyes. And but thou love me, let them find me here. My life were better ended by their hate Than death prorogued, wanting of thy love.

The lovers kiss long and deep. Then TARA, suddenly fearful, pushes WILLOW away.

TARA: Thou knowest the mask of night is on my face, Else would a maiden blush bepaint my cheek, For that which thou hast heard me speak tonight. Fain would I dwell on form - fain, fain deny What I have spoke. But farewell compliment! Dost thou love me?

WILLOW tries to speak, TARA silences her.

TARA: I know thou wilt say 'Ay', and I will take thy word. Yet, if thou swearest, Thou mayst prove false. O gentle Willow. If thou dost love, pronounce it faithfully. Or if thou think'st I am too quickly won, I'll frown, and be perverse, and say thee nay. Please tell me how you feel inside you heart??

WILLOW: Lady, by yonder blessed moon I vow, That tips with silver all these fruit-tree tops -

TARA: O, swear not by the moon, th' inconstant moon, That monthly changes in her circled orb, Lest that thy love prove likewise variable.

WILLOW ( Looking a little upset): What shall I swear by?

TARA: Do not swear at all. Or if thou wilt, swear by thy gracious self, Which is the god of my idolatry, And I'll believe thee.

She touches her cheek. WILLOW moves her lips close.

WILLOW: If my heart's dear love -

TARA pulls away, hurt and confused

TARA: Well, do not swear. Although I joy in thee, I have no joy of this contract tonight. It is too rash, too unadvised, too sudden; Too like the lightning, which doth cease to be Ere one can say 'it lightens.' Sweet, good night. This bud of love, by summer's ripening breath, May prove a beauteous flower when next we meet. Good night, good night. As sweet repose and rest Come to thy heart as that within my breast

She rushes up the stairs - WILLOW follows desperately

WILLOW ( Yells ): How dare you leave me so unsatisfied?

TARA turns back with a shocked look on her face

TARA: What satisfaction can I give you tonight?

We see WILLOW smile at Tara.

WILLOW: The exchange of thy love's faithful vow for mine.

TARA grinned. She runs joyously to WILLOW.

TARA: I gave thee mind before thou didst request it!

TARA run's over and they kiss passionately. They both fall into the water and dive underneath. WILLOW pulls TARA to her breast. They move together, eyes closed and still kissing passionately. After a few minutes, the girls come up for air. They are both breathing heavy and looking into each other's eyes.

TARA: And yet I would it were to give again.

WILLOW: Wouldst thou withdraw it? For what purpose love?

TARA: But to be frank and give it thee again.

They kiss again. It become's more passionately and WILLOW pulls TARA back to the egde of the pool. WILLOW places her hand on TARA's breasts while kissing down her neck. TARA moans and let's WILLOW play. WILLOW feels TARA relax and they start to make out and kiss with so much passion. Then the NURSE calls from inside.

NURSE: Tara!

TARA and WILLOW pull apart, breathing heavy. They were shocked and worried she would see them together.

TARA looks to the house

TARA ( breathlessly ): Three words, dear Willow, and good night indeed. If that thy bent of love be honourable. Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow, By one that I'll procure to come to thee, Where and what time thou wilt perform the rite, And all my fortunes at thy foot I'll lay And follow thee my lord throughout the world.

NURSE: Tara!

TARA: I come, anon - But if thou meanest not well, I do beseech thee...

NURSE: Tara! where are you??

TARA ( Yells to the Nurse): By and by I come! To cease thy strife and leave me to my grief. Tomorrow will I send.

WILLOW holds TARA's gaze.

WILLOW: So thrive my soul....kiss more once more

NURSE: Tara!

TARA breaks away.

TARA: A thousand times good night!

With a final kiss, TARA runs inside

WILLOW: A thousand times the worse, to want thy light. Love goes toward love as schoolgirls from their books; But love from love, toward school with heavy looks.

TARA re-appears at the upper balcony.

TARA: Willow! What o'clock tomorrow Shall I send to thee?

WILLOW: By the hour of nine.

TARA unclasps a delicate silver necklace from around her neck.

TARA: I will not fail. 'Tis twenty year till then. Goodnight, goodnight! Parting is such sweet sorrow. That I shall say goodnight till it be morrow.

She lets the necklace fall from her hand. WILLOW catches it and she is gone.

WILLOW: Sleep dwell upon thine eyes, peace in thy breast, Would I were sleep and peace, so sweet to rest.
