Chapter 5~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"So Giles we ready to get this thing rollin?" Spike asked.
"Oh, yes. Shall we get started?" Giles asked the group. Looking around they all nodded there heads at each other and looked back to Giles.
"Alright, I've got a journal here for each of you. They're supposed to help each of us remember who and what we are." He told them walking over to his counter. "We won't all of a sudden get our memory back. We will all eventually get our memories of our past life back and then we can move on to more pressing matters, which is why we were brought back together at this precise time." He told them as he handed Spike and Anya each a few journals.
Anya headed over to Xander, handing him his journal she handed the other two to Faith. She smiled at Xander and took a seat beside him.
Spike looked at the two journals in his hand. One was his the other one belonged to lil bit. He walked over to Dawn, "here lil bit," he said handing her, her journal. Dawn smiled at Spike, took her journal, and walked over to the counter just as Giles was leaving the counter with someone else's journal in his hand.
Willow and Tara were sitting on the couch waiting patiently. Giles walked over and handed a journal to Willow. Tara looked up at Giles as he sat down beside her. He smiled at her, "You do have one Tara, but your not supposed to open yours yet." he told them.
"Why is that?" Willow asked placing a hand on Tara's knee.
"I don't know to tell you the truth. Her journal is different then the rest of ours, and it's got a note written on it. Hold on I'll get it for you Tara." He said.
Willow gave Tara's knee a squeeze as Giles left to get Tara's journal.
Giles noticed Dawn standing at the counter. As he walked up beside her he placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Dawn didn't look up, "Giles, what's going on?" she asked him.
"I'm not sure but we will find out," he told her. Giles realized Dawn looked afraid. "Dawn what's wrong?" He asked her giving her shoulder a squeeze.
"The note on Tara's journal..." Dawn didn't finish.
"What about it?" He asked.
She finally turned away from Tara's journal to look at Giles. "That's my handwriting...Giles look... I wrote this." She told him as she set her journal down beside Tara's.
Giles noticed that the handwriting on both journals was in fact the same."I'm sure once we get started things will begin to make some kind of sense." He assured her. Giles picked up Tara's journal. "Come on Dawn, lets get this started."
They walked towards the living room together. Willow and Tara were sitting at one end of the couch. Willow was reassuring Tara that everything was going to be alright. Anya and Xander sat at the other end of the couch, while Buffy, Faith, and Spike stood around the room.
When Giles and Dawn walked in, everyone looked at Giles expectantly.
"Here Tara," He said as he handed her, her journal. "Your not supposed to open your until she's told you to do so." He softly told her.
Tara reached for her journal and looked at Willow.
"Until who tells her to Giles?" Willow asked.
"Well, until the person that wrote the message tells her to." He said.
"Wait we don't even know who wrote it, she may never be told to read it." Xander stated.
"No, it's one of us in this room and even though we don't remember it, the person that wrote it, will know when it's time."
"Alright everyone else you can read your's, skim it, what ever you feel you need to do. This is just to help the process along, it won't give us our memory back." Giles told them sitting down at his table.
Faith looked at her journal and walked towards the door.
As she passed Buffy she handed her her journal as she began to head out the door she heard someone call out to her.
"Faith, wait up," Buffy called running up beside her, "Where are you going?"
"To the park, I seem to think better there." Faith replied.
"Would you mind some company?" Buffy asked
"Sure, come on." Faith said.
“Perhaps you two should stay in for just a bit longer, yeah?” Giles looked at them and smiled sincerely. “Just until we all can understand a bit more.”

Spike sat down at the table with Giles. Xander and Anya remained on the couch, while Tara and Willow went back to the guest room.
Dawn wondered to the far wall in the living room and stood with her back against the wall watching everyone. She noticed Xander had opened his journal and had begun to read. Anya was watching him intently her own journal unopened and forgotten. The young teen looked over at Spike and Giles. Giles had begun to read his, she noticed that Spike's was unopened as well. She knew it was because Spike and Anya hadn't forgotten the past. Anya being a demon and Spike being a vampire meant they didn't die a hundred years ago and come back like the rest of them.
Dawn felt like something big was about to happen and it made her reluctant to open her journal. She sighed glancing around one more time at everyone remaining in the room. She looked down at the journal in her hand.
She broke the seal and opened her journal to the first page. All that was written on the first page was: "REMEMBER."
When she ran her fingers over the word in her handwriting she felt a jolt of energy rush through her body. The jolt was so powerful she crumpled to the floor unconscious.

As Dawn ran down the hall crying out for Tara, the others jumped up and followed her.
"It's begun," Anya told them as they all ran down the hall after Dawn.
"Wait, what, what's begun?" Xander asked.
Anya ignored Xander's question and grabbed his hand pulling him into the doorway.
In the bedroom Willow and Tara were engrossed in Willow's journal, when the door flew open and a sobbing Dawn rushed in. Willow and Tara had barely got off the bed when Dawn rushed to Tara and threw her arms around her in a tight hug. Dawn held Tara tightly and cried uncontrollably.
Blubbering through her tears Dawn said, "I thought I'd never see you again Tara."
Giles stood in the doorway of the bedroom, he watched as Dawn clung to Tara. He suddenly realized Dawn had her memories.
Anya walked into the bedroom pulling Xander along with her. "You know they all..."
Anya started, but was interrupted by a very concerned Buffy.
"Dawn, honey what's wrong?" Buffy asked her sister as she looked around at the confused faces for some kind of answer.
"Buffy, Oh God Buffy," Dawn cried as she released Tara and reached for her sister, her body quivering slightly along with her voice.
"Ah, it's okay honey I've got you." Buffy said as she took Dawn into her arms, caressing the long hair of her sister’s.
"Buffy, Dawn, maybe we should go back into the living room and try to relax a bit." Giles suggested.
"Yes, that's a good idea," Buffy told him, she pulled back and looked at her sister. "Come on Dawn lets go sit down."
"Buffy, Tara and I will be right there," Willow told her.
Dawn suddenly raised her head and stopped. This abrupt action caused Buffy to bump into her.
"Dawn, what's wrong, are you okay?" Buffy asked.
Dawn didn't answer her sister she addressed Tara instead, "Tara, bring your journal when you’re ready." With that said, she let her big sister take her to the living room.
Everyone was sitting around the living room caught up in an uncomfortable silence. They all continued to wait patiently for Willow and Tara.

In the bedroom Willow tried to comfort a very perplexed blonde. Tara looked up from her hands and met Willow's gaze.
"That was a bit frightening," The blonde confessed to Willow with tears in her eyes.
"I'm sure she didn't mean to scare you," Willow said.
Dropping her gaze again Tara whispered, "No, not me, it was her. She was so scared Willow and the pain, there was so much pain. I could feel it emitting off of her as she clung to me."
"Tara?" Willow questioned.
Meeting Willow's gaze again Tara said, "Willow, Dawn got her memories, she...." Tara became silent.
"Tara," Willow coaxed.
"Oh, Willow, she s-said she thought she'd n-n-never see me again." Tara finished in almost a silent whisper.
"I know I heard her sweetie," Willow said, tucking some stray hair behind Tara’s ears.
Willow picked up Tara's journal, took her hand and led them towards the living room. She stopped just before the doorway, turning around she waited for Tara to meet her gaze. When Tara brought her head up she looked into Willow's eyes questioningly. "I promise you Tara, I'm right here with you, always." Willow kissed the back of Tara's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze as she led them into the living room where the others waited.
Tara smiled shyly and gave a gentle hand squeeze back as the approached the rest of the gang.

Buffy led her sister to a chair and sat her down, she knelt down in front of Dawn to catch her eye. "Dawn, are you okay, what's going on?" Buffy asked Dawn squeezing her hand.
"I know you're worried Buffy, I'll explain everything in do time, I promise." Dawn told her.
Buffy stood up and sighed. She sat down beside Faith as Willow, pulling Tara along with her, entered the room.
Dawn got up to address her family as Willow and Tara took a seat. "Willow, Tara," She said holding out her hand. Willow handed Dawn Tara's journal without a word. Dawn took the journal hugging it tightly to her chest. She paced the center of the room, never looking up, or losing her grip on Tara's journal for quite a while. Finally stopping she sighed and turned to face her friends/family. "I know you're all waiting for an explanation, I just don't know where to start."
"It's all right lil bit, just tell them what you can for now." Spike encouraged.
Dawn looked at Spike and smiled. "All right lets see, well most of this you won't understand until tomorrow night. I'd like to say how nice it is to have the whole family together again."
"I agree with you totally, Dawn," Anya said offering her support.
"Hey Dawn, are you going to tell us anything useful, or just give us a sappy speech?" Faith asked.
"Hey!! Pipe down butch, let her talk," Spike said standing up beside Dawn.
"Well, I can tell you why we're here and how we're here, but you won't understand any of it until tomorrow night like I said before. Anything that has to do with your own past you have to wait until your mind opens up, I can't help you with that either," Dawn told them all looking around at them, she took a deep breath and continued softly. "Okay, I don't really know where to begin and what you'll understand at this point," Dawn said to no one in-particular. She looked over at Willow and Tara and silently began to cry.
“You see, the thing is we came up against something unbeatable. We never did find out what it was, but I did years afterwards, when I'd mastered my power, I found out why we lost. We didn't protect the innocent one, she was our hope, only on chance at beating it." Dawn finished breaking down again.
Sobbing she turned to Spike and clung to him for support. Spike held Dawn in his arms and turned to the rest of the group, "She needs more time, we'll try again in the morning. Buffy..." He looked at the blonde and cleared his throat.
Buffy understood Spikes silent plea and moved to take her sobbing sister from him.
"Pizza anyone?" Xander asked trying to break the tension in the room.
"Oh, yes pizza, " Giles said pulling out his mini phone. He pushed three buttons on the small pop out screen and then placed it back in his pocket.
While they waited on the pizza Buffy tried unsuccessfully to comfort her sister. Her heart broke when she felt so useless.
Dawns crying became silent sobs as she climbed into her sisters lap. Wrapping her arms around her waist, closing her eyes briefly, trying to compose herself.

Willow and Tara had started reading Willow's journal again giggling and moving closer together so they could whisper to each other.
Giggling, Tara whispered. "Cool monster fighter."
Willow smiled at Tara with a far away look on her face, eyes glazed over with thought.
"What are you thinking about sweetie?" Tara asked Willow.
Willow shook her head to clear her thoughts.
Tara noticed a blush creeping up Willow's neck to her cheeks. "Huh, I'm sorry," Willow said. She sighed wistfully. Willow smiled at Tara bashfully and felt her cheeks grow even hotter. "Me? I wasn't thinking about anything.” Her long eyelashes batted flirtatiously.
"Uh huh, sure you weren't, that's why you're blushing," Tara said flashing that lopsided smile Willow loved so much.
Faith had finished reading her two pages and was relaxing waiting for dinner. Xander and Anya were sitting at the table with Giles. He was looking through his journal and trying not to over hear anything Anya and Xander were saying.
"Really I swear, she's a sex maniac," Anya said.
"Willow, not my best friend Willow?" Xander asked.
"Yes, your best friend Willow, Tara and her were always sneaking off to have sex." Anya told him.
"But she's never said anything to me, I mean she's never, at least I don't think she's ever…" Xander was lost in his thoughts.
"Of course she never, she just met Tara, now they will be having lots of sex again." Anya said, she clapped her hands and beamed.
"Anya!" Giles sternly said.
"What, I was just saying that they enjoy having orgasms, I mean who doesn't," Anya said to Giles, frowning again.
"Yes, well it's something you don't need to be discussing." Giles said.
Spike was leaned up against the far wall watching everyone. He enjoyed the little conversation the demon and Xander were having until Giles interrupted.
Faith looked at her closed journal, the words she'd just read haunted her mind.
Faith looked over to Buffy and watched her hold her sister, she shook her head as a silent tear ran down her cheek.
A knock on the door caught everyone's attention. "Pizza's here," Xander announced as he jumped up and headed for the door.
Eating and chatting the group got to know each other a little bit more. After they had finished eating and cleaned up the dinner mess, Dawn gathered them all in the living room for the final time that night. "Look, I know you all want to know what's going on, but I'm not strong enough to do it on my own. So I'm waiting for one more thing to happen!" Dawn told them.
"Would you just like me to tell them that they all-"
"NO!" Dawn yelled interrupting Spike. "Not even with your new found soul have you learned compassion." She scowled then her face softened a bit. "Willow, Tara, can I talk to you for a minute?" Dawn asked them holding Tara's journal tightly in her hand.
"Sure.” They said as they followed Dawn to the bedroom they were sharing.

"Buffy, do you have classes tomorrow?" Giles asked.
"No, it's just freshmen orientation." Buffy told him.
"When does Dawn start?"
"She's supposed to start tomorrow, but I think I'm going to let her skip." Answered the blonde.
"Ah yes, from the looks of her tonight it's obvious she's in no shape to start just yet." Giles agreed.
Giles looked up as Anya approached in a hurry. "Look Giles, I've got some work to do, D'Hoffryn's already throwing a tantrum. I'll be back later." She told them as she teleported out.
"Holy silverware, Batman!" Xander blurted with genuine surprise.
"It's okay Xander." Dawn said as she entered the room and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Yeah, I need to head out and take care of some business too." Spike said.
"Spike, go but try to be back before sunrise. I don't want to have to repeat myself or look for you when I'm ready to explain things," Dawn told him.
"Hey Dawn, did you see Anya do the Star Trek right out of here, she was like beam me up Scottie!" Xander asked excited.
Spike left the apartment lighting a cigarette as he closed the door behind him.
"I never thought he was the sharpest knife in the bunch, but he needs his memory big time," Spike said to the silent night.
"Yes, Xander, I saw her and to think little things like that still excite you. You know Xander, she used to be your girl." Dawn said walking to her sleeping bag and sitting down.
"Wait, did she just say, my girl?" he whispered to no one in particular.
"Oh," Dawn said loudly as she looked over at Xander and Buffy, "Make sure the witches have complete privacy all night."
"I'm going to turn in for the night, I suggest you all think about it as well. Tomorrow's another big day." Giles said to everyone.
"Dawn, can I speak to you please?" Giles asked. Getting up Dawn nodded her head and followed Giles to the hall. "I understand you put a spell in your journal, am I correct in assuming this?" Giles asked.
"Yes, I did.”
"Did you put one on anyone else's?" Giles asked her.
"I'm not real powerful with the magicks, but I was able to put a spell on one other journal." She told him.
"Tara's?" Giles asked, cleaning his glasses and rubbing his eyes.
"Yes, she's the only one the Goddess allowed me to help.” She looked at him silently and decided she would head to bed as the others were too. “I'll explain more tomorrow Giles, good night," Dawn said, politely excusing herself.

“I guess we should look in the journal huh?” Tara spoke quietly walking into the room behind Willow.
“Yeah, we should, wait, we?” Willow turned around and stole the gaze from the woman standing in front of her.
“I want you to be here with me, if y-you want too.” Tara cast her eyes downwards, her voice trailing off quietly.
Stepping closer, Willow reached for Tara’s hand and placed it above her heart. “Always Tara, I’m here for you always.” She smiled softly. “Okay?”
“Oh yes.” Tara blushed and leaned forward, without a second thought she brushed her lips over Willow’s softly. “S-same here, Willow.” She pulled back and ran her hands through silky red tresses.
“Good, cause I’m not about to let you go anytime soon.” Willow whispered, her eyes sparkling. “Got that?”
“Got it.” The blonde witch pressed her body closer to Willow’s and captured those lips again and again.
“Whenever you’re ready, we can begin.” Willow licked her lips and stared at Tara intently. The emotions running through their bodies as their mouths collided once again, everything stood still and the intensity of the kiss grew.
“I…I think we should-“ Tara began, breathlessly.
“Yea, I think-“ Willow murmured, hugging Tara tightly against her.
“Willow?”
“Yes?”
“You’re beautiful.”
