“Then we had to cram eight people into this mid-sized car. Luckily, the back seat folded down, so we thought to put the seat down and put two people in the trunk, one of them being me and... Willow?” Tara noticed that Willow was just staring at her.
“That’s great Tara.” Willow smiled, just admiring her girlfriend. Tara looked at her and shook her head.
“But before we got to the mall, we were abducted by aliens that ran weirdo tests on us and made us do lots of crazy things.”
“That’s terrific sweetie.”
“Then, they dropped us off back at the mall where I met up with a really cute guy....”
“What? A guy?” Willow snapped to attention. Tara started to giggle once she finally got Willow’s focus.
“Hey, not funny.”
“You should have seen the look on your face.” Willow swatted playfully at Tara. Tara dodged the attack and grabbed Willow’s hand.
“Ha, Thought you could get me, eh? Well not this time.” Tara flaunted. Willow just smiled and shook her head, taking the hand in hers and pulling it to her lips.
“You sure are something.” She whispered, getting lost in Tara’s blue eyes once again.
*******
A shared, comfortable silence fell over them as they leaned into each others embrace, waiting to reach their destination. The limo ride to the beach was a brief one. Pulling to a stop, their chauffer once again escorted them out of the vehicle and drove off waiting to return later.
Tara took Willow’s hand and together they strolled down to the beach.
“Now that I think about it, maybe we should have left our shoes in the limo.” Willow thought out loud.
“It’s okay, we can carry them.” Tara said, already removing her heels. Willow followed but as she was struggling to get hers off, she lost her balance and grabbed Tara, trying to steady herself. Tara herself trying to get her shoes off, lost her balance as well and fell onto the sand on top of Willow.
“I have to say that the landing wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.” Willow grinned, her hands almost automatically reaching for Tara’s hips and seized her lips.
“Willow...” Tara breathed. Willow, not liking the break in contact, captured Tara’s lips again.
“Willow, wait.” She pulled back again.
“What?”
“I’m getting sand in my dress.” Tara smiled, noticing Willow’s almost irritated look.
“Well, then I guess we’ll have to take care of that. I think this situation calls for immediate removal.” Willow smirked.
“Naughty, naughty.” Tara scolded playfully, descending upon Willow’s lips again.
*******
After regaining their composure, which wasn’t very easy, Willow and Tara made their way down along the shore.
“What a night.” Willow put out there.
“Yeah I know.”
“Would you like to dance?” Willow offered randomly. Tara’s brow furrowed in confusion.
“There isn’t any music to dance to.”
“Au contraire mon amie.” Walking over to her bag, Willow pulled out a small portable tape recorder. Tara just smiled and shook her head at Willow’s quirky way of being prepared.
“I thought ahead.” Willow voiced Tara’s thoughts, only with a little more pride. Pressing the play button, she moved over towards Tara and took her hands, leading her in a slow sway to the music.
The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breath
Emeralds from mountains thrust toward the sky
Never revealing their depth“Willow?”
“Hmm...?” Willow was caught up in the moment, fixed in Tara’s eyes.
“What made you pick this song?”
Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above“I heard it playing one day, and I knew; it expressed everything that you do for me and everything that I want to be for you.”
I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your lifeTara smiled and felt tears form in her eyes. Willow pulled her tight and kissed her cheek wanting to share what she felt for this woman standing before her in her arms.
Rain falls angry on the tin roof
As we lie awake in my bed
You're my survival, you're my living proof
My love is alive not deadThey got lost in the rhythm of the music along with the soft thunder of the oceans waves, swaying together as one.
Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache, that hang from above“Willow, I think it’s time that I tell you that... I love you.” Tara looked down, revealing the shy unsure girl that was still a part of her, not sure if she wanted to see Willow’s reaction. Not sure if she could face rejection. Lifting her head, and looking straight into her eyes, Willow told her:
I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life“Hey, look at me. You have no reason to look away. I’m not going to reject you, or be disgusted, or anything else that could be interpreted as anything other than adoration and devotion. Tara, I love you, too.” Willow smiled her reassurance.
I've been dropped out, burned up, fought my way back from the dead
Tuned in, turned on,
Remembered the things that you saidTara looked into Willow’s eyes and saw nothing but love and acceptance in them. She pulled Willow into a passionate embrace and kissed her deeply as if searching for her soul.
I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life *******
A little while later, Tara and Willow were making their way back to Tara’s dorm room, walking slowly, reluctant to leave each other.
“Do you want to come in?” Tara offered.
“Sure, that would be great.” Tara opened the door and escorted Willow in.
“I know it’s a little messy, just throw some stuff on the floor.” Willow grabbed some books off the bed and set them onto the floor. Setting on the bed she happened to glance at the clock on the nightstand.
1:17“Whoa, I hadn’t realized how late it was. Do you think I should call Buffy and tell her where I’m at? She may be worried.” Willow reached for the phone and dialed their number. After a minute or so, Willow hung up, apparently not reaching the slayer.
“I guess she’s still out on patrol.” She assumed.
“I’m going to go change. If you want some clothes to change into their in my drawer. I’ll be right back.” Tara said randomly and headed out the door. Willow moved towards her drawer, somewhat tentative about going through it. She pulled out a pair of gray sweatpants and a sweatshirt to go with it. She took the dress she had on and ’borrowed’ a hanger from Tara’s closet to put it on. Looking around, she decided to hang it on the doorknob, not knowing where else to hang it. As luck would have it though, Tara walked through the door and caught Willow right on the forehead.
“Ouch!” Willow practically yelled.
“Willow!” Tara gasped. “Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to...”
“No, it’s okay, you didn’t know I was standing at the door. Direct me to the bed please.” Tara took Willow’s arm and moved toward the bed.
“Here, let me get some ice.” Tara grabbed a sandwich bag and went to the fridge to get some ice. Willow laid on the bed as Tara got the ice.
“Tara?”
“Yes?”
“Could you kiss it and make it better?” Willow pleaded like a child would for candy.
“Sure sweetie, I could do that.” Tara moved onto the bed and kissed Willow’s forehead where there now was a big red mark.
“Better?”
“Much... Hey Tara?”
“Yes?”
“I think my lips are a little chapped from being out in the wind. Could you make them better?” Willow pleaded, this time smiling like a child that was about to get some candy.
“I’m sure that could be arranged.” Tara said, before taking her lips into a possessive kiss. Deepening the kiss, Willow wrapped her arms around Tara’s neck, pulling her tight against her. Tara let her hands roam Willow’s body freely.
“Willow,” Tara pulled back. “I want to show you what you mean to me. I want to give you all of me.”
“Me too, I love you so much and now I want to start showing you how much, right now.”
Descending once again, Tara took control, aggressively taking on Willow’s lips knowing tonight would be one of the many nights she would share herself with the woman she truly loved.
