Thanks for the feedback everyone… I hope when you read it, that it doesn’t feel like your reading some little kid’s writing material. I’ve been looking through some of your bio’s and a lot of you are way older than me, it’s very intimidating, makes me want to lie about my age if you know what I mean. But, the good thing about being 18 where I live is that I’m old enough to drink, granted I don’t drink but it’s good to have the feeling that I CAN if I wanted to.

The scene where Tara turns back to see Willow was stolen from the movie ‘Titanic’ where Jack a.k.a Leonardo DiCaprio turns back to see Rose a.k.a Kate Winslet at the large clock. Imagine it in slow motion otherwise it won’t have the same effect, oh and some Sarah Maclachlan music or Celine Dion might help too, I wish I was a director so I can make my own Willow and Tara movie.

Oh, I put myself in the fic, how cool is that? Now, I can honestly say that I went on a date with Willow! Merry Christmas everyone… I hope everybody has a jolly good time, Happy Hanukah, and everything else as well.

Anyway, I’m going to stop the babbling and well…here’s the next update. :)

Summary: Willow and Tara go out on a first date, hopefully all goes well.

you've found that special rose,

'Cause you love and care for the

one you chose."

Tara’s hands were gently grasping onto Willow’s, their soft palms pressed together in an unyielding hold, never letting go of the contact. Not wanting to let go. Tara played with the redhead’s slender digits, tenderly and compassionately rubbing her thumb over and over Willow’s smooth skin, loving the feel of the physical contact that was them touching, even if it was just them merely holding hands, caressing tender fingertips.

Any contact was enough contact, a Romeo and Juliet love, except this time…they would have a happy ending, they were sure of it.

“You really love me?” Willow asked softly, her face gazing down at their entwined hands. She looked up to see Tara nodding her head, her cobalt eyes were shining vibrantly under the luminous and incandescent rays of the street lights above, deep blue orbs gleaming under the golden glow beaming down to shimmer their features like a large spotlight, a spotlight that targeted them, the indisputable love of Willow and Tara, a love that was there before either of them had a chance to explore it.

A love that overwhelmed them in an instant of first meeting, swallowing them whole in an instant of time, that brief second of eye contact was all it took for their heart to loch it, grasping hold of the other.

“I said I did.” Tara smiled warmly, clutching onto the redhead’s hand even tighter. “And I don’t say anything I don’t mean.” She tilted her head a bit to catch the redhead’s emerald eyes. “At least not when it comes to this.”

Willow’s eyes lifted to meet Tara’s, blue catching green, staring deep. “And this is?” Willow questioned softly, their gentle hands still interlocked in a tight and unyielding hold.

“I thought we already established this.” Tara smiled, shaking her head a bit as she chuckled. “My heart to your heart…that’s what you said remember? They were your exact words, Willow.”

“I remember.” Willow nodded slightly; her jade colored orbs sparkled brightly behind her eyelids, gazing deeply and intently into the other girl’s azure blue, locking the eye contact. “Then I guess this is making it official, even though we know nothing about each other.” She smiled a bit. “And I do mean nothing.”

“We’ll go on a date.” Tara suggested as an afterthought. “We’ll get to know each other then.”

“Are you asking me out on a date Tara…” Willow’s eyes widened when she realized that she didn’t even know Tara’s last name. “I don’t even know your last name.” she softly confessed, glancing down. “You think I would’ve asked that.”

“It’s Maclay.” Tara answered gently, bringing her other hand to softly and tenderly stroke Willow crimson colored tresses, her slender fingers. “I think we flew past the dating stage in the sense that I feel that I’ve known you forever but I think it’d be fun, Willow….” She paused and chuckled. “I don’t know your last name either.”

“Rosenberg.” Willow smiled; she was still standing on rather large step ladder while the three friends were still at the bottom. Willow hadn’t even glanced down for one second, all she saw was Tara. “Willow Rosenberg.”

Buffy’s forehead rested tiredly on the bottom of the ladder, her eyes were closed as she waited for the two girls to pull apart and for her friend to call it a night and head back down, but it hadn’t appeared that it would happen anytime soon. Xander and Jarred, meanwhile, were sitting on the grasses green at his side of the yard eating a sandwich; apparently Jarred’s mother had made it for them.

His mother gave the two boy’s a small smile before she left, thinking that the two looked like a cute couple, she hadn’t even questioned what they were doing next door, what they did was their business. She did look up to see her favorite neighbor and her son’s best friend, near the upper window of Mr. Maclay’s home, a redhead was there, holding onto her hand.

Gay love seemed to be everywhere.

“Well, Willow Rosenberg…” Tara replied playfully, her blonde hair swaying gently in the air as she shook her head slightly, the chilled wind from outside brushing softly against her face, she shivered in the frosty cold of the night breeze, only the touch of Willow’s hands warmed her. Willow stood near her window pane, not caring about the arctic weather of the gentle gust; she would have stayed out there the entire night to see Tara, in the freezing cold or frosty rain. “Meet me at our place tomorrow at ten and I’ll be waiting.”

“And your father?” Willow asked, needing to bring up the subject. “Will he even let you go out? He told me never to go near you again.” She finished softly.

“And guess how well that worked out.” Tara joked, her beautiful half-smile making yet another appearance. “You couldn’t even last one whole day.” She smiled again looking into Willow’s soul.

Willow smiled back.

Tara looked at Willow more intently and realized that she was still propped on the ladder, twenty feet up, concerned she held the redhead more tightly against her. “Willow, are you okay on that ladder…I mean is it sturdy?” she questioned, worried.

“Buffy’s holding onto the bottom.” Willow pointed out, blushing.

“Buffy?” Tara asked and then leaned over her window and saw that a small blonde was holding onto the base of the stepladder, she looked exhausted out of her mind but her hands persisted in its tight and steady grip, she smiled as she marinated the sight.

Willow looked down as well, nodding.

“Is she the friend you told me about? The one that you thought wasn’t really your friend?” Tara questioned, lifting an eyebrow. “She seems like a friend to me…she’s holding the ladder for you and everything.”

“I shouldn’t have doubted her.” Willow nodded; glancing down at Buffy was now looking up, smiling slightly in greeting. Willow gave Buffy a small smile of her own and turned back to Tara. “We still have a lot to talk about.” She explained, their hands were now separated by contact but they were still as close as can be, the eye contact still locked in an embrace that couldn’t be contained. “And I think so do we.”

“Meet me tomorrow?” Tara asked again, her eyes soft. “I want to really get to know you, no interruptions, just us.” She looked down again and her eyes widened in amusement when she saw Jarred and Xander downing a cold beverage and eating a large sub sandwich, they were waving their hands at Buffy, encouraging the tired blonde to sit with them.

She saw Buffy glance at the two boys with a questionable expression as if she was seriously thinking the offer through before she left the ladder and sat down on the grasses green, grabbing a sandwich as well, Tara giggled at the scene before turning her attention to Willow.

“Should I wear something nice?” Willow asked suddenly, her eyes wide as she tried to decipher whether it was a jeans and shirt occasion or a dress and high heels event, either way she knew Tara would look beautiful. “We’re not going anywhere fancy are we?”

“We might.” Tara stated simply. “It doesn’t have to be too fancy, we’re not going to a ball or anything.” She joked playfully, gently nudging at the redhead’s shoulder. “Wear what you feel is comfortable, it really shouldn’t matter.”

Tara didn’t know exactly where she wanted to take Willow; she hadn’t ever gone on a date with anyone before now. All the blonde knew was that she wanted to bring Willow to a place they’d both enjoy their time together…alone.

A movie was out of the question since they had a great deal to talk about and being in a dark room watching a crappy movie didn’t warrant much time for them to have a pleasurable and enjoying conversation together, in addition she hated the feel of the sticky floor and overpriced popcorn and candy.

“It does matter.” Willow stressed softly. “I don’t want to be wearing some gangly blue jeans and a shirt and then I see you wearing this stunning and eye-catching dress, they’ll take one look at me and think…‘why is that blonde with that redhead’ and scoff.” Willow explained in a rush, shaking her head in exasperation. “I want to look good for you.”

“Then do that.” Tara acknowledged matter of factly with a small smile. “Surprise me.”

“I’d love to.” Willow smiled back, leaning forward a bit to capture the blonde’s lips in another tender and affectionate kiss.

Willow’s lips were mere millimeters away from Tara’s, she could almost feel the blonde’s warm breath on her face and skin, she could almost hear the other girl’s rhythmic heartbeat through her chest, she wanted to taste Tara’s full and sensually soft lips against her own, needing the physical contact, craving the touch of the blonde’s mounds of flesh pressing onto hers, an exchange of love.

“Kiss me.” The redhead solicited, her soft voice was barely above a whisper.

Tara was just about to do just that when her father came stomping down the hall, his loud and strident footsteps could be heard just outside her bedroom door. Tara whipped her head around, her long blonde hair swaying across the room wildly; her eyes were as wide as saucers, two blue flying saucers. She quickly closed her window and pulled down the curtains, giving Willow an apologetic look and then walking a few paces away from the window, looking as innocent as can be.

Willow had and stepped a couple steps down the stepladder, dipping her head just under Tara’s window, just in case. She had seen this happen in a couple of movies and she needed to be careful.

Tara looked expectantly at her door before she saw the face of her brother, carrying a plate of food in his hands.

“Dad wanted me to give you this.” Donny said blankly, handing his younger sister the plate. He gave Tara a dismissive glare before exiting the room; he need not bother Tara when he was busy with a life of his own.

Tara nodded slightly and took the plate, she waited for her brother to shut her door and when she was satisfied that he wasn’t coming into her room again, she rushed to her window and opened it. Her sapphire eyes gazed frontward and saw nothing, she looked a bit downwards and saw that Willow wasn’t there either; the darkened light blocked her vision… Willow was nowhere to be seen. She frowned a bit in disappointment, and then turned to leave.

Willow climbed a couple of steps up the ladder and then lifted her head and peeked into Tara’s window, seeing the blonde move away.

Tara was sitting at the edge of her bed silently, she was heartbroken.

The redhead’s brow furrowed in confusion, utterly at a loss of why Tara was leaving her at her window, twenty feet above the ground. She pressed both her hands against the glass, and gently pounded at the clear window glass. “Tara!” Willow shouted as loudly as she could but Tara could hardly hear through the window. “Tara!” she cried out once again.

No response.

Willow’s eyes widened in disbelief and frustration that Tara hadn’t heard her, she looked back down and saw Buffy, Jarred, and Xander finishing their sandwiches, they were all standing there and staring at Willow, frowning in concern. Willow motioned frantically at the three and shrugged; she turned to Tara’s window and banged at the glass.

Buffy, Jarred, and Xander shrugged as well and went back to their sandwiches.

Tara turned her head at the sound and saw Willow, her face against the glass, her hands outstretched. Willow rushed to the window and pulled it open. “Willow?” she asked when the window was released.

She saw Willow stumble a bit off the ladder, nearly falling over.

“Willow?!” she grabbed onto the redhead’s shoulders and pulled her into the room. “My goddess, you could have fallen over!” she exclaimed in worrisome tone, she had almost lost Willow.

“I’m fine.” Willow assured, brushing off imaginary dirt over her jeans, shaking her head. She looked up to see Tara’s apologetic and worried look, aching Willow’s soul at the sight. “Tara, I’m fine.” She stated confidently, walking over to the blonde’s side and placing a hand over her shoulder. “Why in the frilly heck didn’t you open the window sooner?” she asked in a small smile, her tone was playful but Tara didn’t sense the tone.

“I thought you left.” Tara answered in a small voice, glancing down at her feet. “I looked over and I…”

“Okay…one, I never left…two, I wouldn’t leave even if I wanted to….and three, I’m in your bedroom.” Willow stated matter of factly; she couldn’t believe that she was actually here.

Willow’s gaze glanced across the diminutive room, studying the unadorned contents inside. The bedroom was bare but clean, she quickly glanced at Tara’s full sized bed and her heart skipped a beat. Flashes of her and Tara together on that bed flew across her brain, she shivered at the thought, anticipating it but also thinking that is she had to wait years to be with Tara, she’d wait as patiently as her heart could allow.

“I don’t want you anywhere near that window.” Tara stated simply. “I could have lost you.”

“Okay overreaction much?” Willow lifted an eyebrow, chuckling.

“I don’t think it was.” Tara shook her head adamantly and then pulled Willow into her arms, hugging her closely. She embraced Willow tenderly and affectionately, her face was pressing against Willow’s soft crimson tresses. Tara could swear that could smell Willow’s coconut scented shampoo as she inhaled deeply, drawing the redhead more closely to her.

Not wanting to let go.

Not feeling that she could.

The two girls remained that way, hugging each other intimately and lovingly. Tara’s eyes were closed tightly as she squeezed Tara closer, her face nestled against the blonde’s chest. Tara’s eyes were shut as well, hiding her deep sapphire depths behind closed eyelids, the blonde took another deep inhale and exhale, breathing loudly.

Just embracing each other, standing like that in the middle of the room…holding the other closely.

Not wanting to let go of each other.

Not feeling that they could.

Jarred, Xander, and Buffy were all immersed in conversation, discussing the beginning of their senior year. Jarred on the other hand was out of high school and starting a local community college nearby. School was starting in one week and Buffy couldn’t be more thrilled, Xander was dreading it and explaining the various reasons why. They all laughed in comfortable dialogue, exchanging giggles and chuckles.

The three of them turned to Tara’s window and were stunned to see that Willow was nowhere to be found.

“Okay…Willow was there just a minute ago right?” Xander stated deadpanned; his eyes wide. “Don’t tell me she actually went into Tara’s room.” He almost laughed at the thought.

“What would they be doing?” Buffy asked aloud, her head tilted in curiosity.

“What would YOU be doing?” Jarred commented in a small smirk, shaking his head at his two new friends. “I really, truly didn’t think that my Tara had it in her.” He smiled slightly.

“I don’t think that Tara’s yours anymore.” Xander said matter of factly, he turned his head to the left the exact same time Jarred had and the two caught each other’s eyes just one, reading each other’s minds at that one glance.

They both simultaneously turned their heads back at Tara’s opened window, seeing the slight outline and reflection of their two friends through the clear glass.

“No, I guess she isn’t.” Jarred nodded, his eyes were still fixated ahead of him.

“How long will they be?” Buffy asked as she looked at the opened window of Tara’s bedroom as well. “I have to get back home soon before mom gets worried.”

“And I need to return the ladder…and the car.” Xander put his two cents in. “Willow better get her hormone infested ass down here before I leave.” He stomped his foot, but it was only out of playfulness, deep down he was thrilled that Willow was finding the love that only he and Buffy could dream about.

Buffy’s deep hazel depths glancing upwards at Tara’s opened window. She was overly joyful and ecstatic that her best friend was happy.

If she had any reservations on how genuine or sincere Willow’s love for this blonde girl was, any and all of that flew out of her psyche the minute she saw Willow’s radiant green orbs looking down at her from the top of the step ladder, her small grin of happiness was unmistakable, Tara made Willow happy and she was sure that it fell the other way as well.

A tinge of jealously coursed through her body when she realized that she was no longer the girl in willow’s life but Willow’s happiness came first. “Just leave them for now; Willow will be down when she’s ready.” Buffy stated softly.

Xander and Jarred just nodded.

Willow and Tara finally pulled away from their amorous and tender embrace, Tara held both of Willow’s hands into her own, swinging her arms lightheartedly and giggling. For the longest time when they were in each other’s arms, Willow and Tara didn’t even think about Tara’s father or Donny walking in on them.

They even forgot about Buffy and Xander who were supposed to be waiting at the bottom of the ground floor to take Willow back home, all they saw was each other.

Even though they had just met they already felt as if they had passed the dating phase of their relationship, like they already knew each other from a passed life.

“I should go.” Willow said after the longest moment, suddenly remembering that Buffy and Xander were waiting for her just outside. “I’ll see you tomorrow?” she asked, their arms were still swinging affably.

“I’ll be waiting.” Tara replied simply before gently tugging Willow’s arms towards her and kissing her tenderly on the lips, it was a quick kiss but it was just as passionate. “Bye Willow.”

“Tomorrow at ten?”

“At the stream.” Tara nodded, their hands entwined comfortably. “We can get to know each other then, less kissing more talking.” She smiled.

Willow reluctantly pulled back and headed towards the window, she had one foot out and on the top of the ladder before she took a quick glance at Tara once again.

The blonde stood there wearing the most gorgeous and delectable half-smile that melted Willow’s heart and soul, all it took was that before Willow went back into the window and rushed to Tara, grabbing the blonde into another deep kiss.

Tara was initially shocked but quickly recovered, kissing the redhead just as fervently, her hands were buried inside Willow’s red hair pulling her face even closer to her lips. This particular kiss was a bit longer and more passionate, the mere fact that Willow shouldn’t even be up here made their kiss even more loving.

“I have to go now.” Willow replied when their kiss subsided, she pulled back and preceded to head out the window her eyes never leaving those of the blonde’s, Tara slowly followed Willow, ready to plant the redhead a goodbye kiss the second she set her foot on the top of the ladder.

Willow looked up to meet Tara’s face; half of her body was already out the window. Before Willow could say anything Tara leaned down and kissed Willow’s lips with passion and fervor, committing to the moment, the moment of their parting kiss.

Like Romeo with his Juliet, a kiss and embrace that promised of a greater future of adoration and longing, a potential prospect that was yet to come. *I hope it isn’t too sappy, I can feel the sap just writing it.*

“Tomorrow.” Willow stated simply when their kiss ended.

“I wish tomorrow was today.” Tara answered softly, watching Willow climb down the steps of the step ladder.

“My friends are waiting.” Willow stated as she glanced down to see Buffy and Xander at the bottom of the ladder, staring up at her. Jarred apparently retired to his house not knowing how long the two would be, besides…he could always call her for details on her phone line.

Tara just nodded her head in understanding and watched helplessly as Willow disappeared into the horizon, at least it seemed that way, when she climbed further down the ladder.

Buffy and Xander were there to help catch her at the bottom of the steps.

“Will?” Xander asked when Willow reached the bottom of the steps. “What were you doing in there?”

“Nothing.” Willow said matter of factly. “We were just setting a date.” She smiled.

The next day:

Willow sat in front of a large mirror glancing at the reflection that gazed back at her, her deep emerald depths glimmered brightly as she appreciated the sight that she saw, she could freely admit that she looked and appeared extra kept and appealing when she put the effort in, that is with Buffy and Xander helping her.

“Do I look okay?” Willow asked as she stared at herself and her reflection, she then turned back to her two friends with a worried look. “I look okay, right?” she questioned in a rushed voice.

“You’re fine.” Buffy assured, putting a hand over Willow’s shoulders. “Everything’s going to be fine.”

“Oh, please…” Willow scoffed, shaking her head in disbelief. “I’m going to screw it up like the first time I tried with the dating.”

Buffy tilted her head when she heard Willow mention that particular event; Willow had come crying to her on her shoulder one afternoon after the disastrous event, a complete wreck immersed in embarrassment and regret. Willow had explained in detail, leaving out nothing, that she had ruined their first date. Stumbling and faltering in her lines, accidentally spilling food onto the other girl’s lap, it was just a major and utter disaster.

“That won’t happen.” Buffy shook her head. “Besides, this will be just casual right?”

Willow nodded. “I hope so.” She looked down at her blouse and frowned. “I just wore this.”

"You look fine, Willow." Xander assured, trying to get Willow to calm herself down, his strong hands gently massaged Willow's shoulder in a loose attempt at comforting Willow. "I'm sure whatever you wear, Tara will love it."

Willow looked back at the mirror and frowned. "Am I wearing too much makeup?" she asked in the smallest voice she could muster. "I don't want to look like I over did it with the makeup."

"If a little powder and a tinge of lip balm is too much makeup..." Buffy dragged out her words in order for Willow to see how crazy she sounded. "Willow, woman to woman, you need to loosen up." Buffy advised, shaking her head.

“Yeah, Will.” Xander nodded from behind her. “You’re so comfortable with Tara, to the point that you’d actually kiss her just seconds after even seeing each other…my god, Willow…you didn’t even know her name yet and you were making out.”

“She kissed me.” Willow crossed her arms over her chest. “Granted, I kissed her back…”

“Then, you climb up her window with a step ladder and you make out with her even more.” Buffy pointed out, staring at her friend’s bewildered expression in the mirror. “Now is not the time to start acting shy.” She waved her finger at the redhead, unable to believe that Willow chose this time for stage fright when she was acting very non-shy the entire time she knew Tara, which wasn’t that long.

“I agree with Buffy.” Xander nodded, placing his chin on Willow’s shoulder, glancing at Willow’s green depths through the reflection. He gazed at Willow and saw that his friend looked gorgeous, stunning and eye-catching; her beaming emerald orbs made her look even more striking. “Relax.” He stressed the last word. “Take a deep breath and exhale all that tension.” He suggested. “Buffy will catch it.” Xander stated matter of factly.

Willow just nodded and took a deep breath, inhaling and exhaling deeply as she studied her face in the mirror, frowning.

Buffy came around Willow and waved her hands around the air surrounding Willow’s face, pretending to catch the imaginary tension that had escaped Willow in a form of breath while Xander held onto a large jar and pretended that he was storing the anxiety and stress into the clear container Xander and Buffy were acting as if they were genuinely being serious that Willow had to roll her eyes in amusement.

“You love Tara right?” Xander asked. “Because if you do…that’s all you have to think about, and it’ll get you through.

“I love her.” Willow nodded.

“How much?” Buffy asked, sincerely interested. She locked her hazel eyes into Willow’s emerald green, gently forcing the words out of her, in that one look. “How much does your heart love her?”

Willow sat in silence, needing to pick and choose her words. “I love her, I do, I love her, I love her and I don’t care what anyone thinks. I love her for the woman she wants to be and I love her for the woman she almost is, I love her Buffy, I love her…I love her.” Willow finished adamantly, a smile gracing her face as she uttered those infamous words. Somehow, she made it her own.

Buffy smiled. “That’s all I needed to know.”

Xander just nodded. “Wow, Will…you went all Jerry Maguire on us.” He smiled, massaging Willow’s shoulders once again. “I know that’s your favorite movie but…”

Willow punched Xander to the gut.

“You ready?” Buffy asked her friend, helping her stand up on her feet. “All that apprehension and tension gone?”

Willow nodded. “Yeah…you caught them all.”

“Good luck.” She said as she watched Willow walk out the door, a small rose in her hands was gripped tightly into her slender fingers, she had planned to give it to Tara as a romantic gesture. It was a very nice touch.

“Bye Will.” Buffy called out before the redhead disappeared off into the horizon. “I hope she doesn’t screw it up.” Buffy whispered to Xander when she was certain that the redhead was gone from sight.

“Me too.” Xander voiced, putting his arm around Buffy, he turned and faced his blonde friend. “You want to play scrabble?” he asked in a smile, already digging into his bag for the board game, they had nothing better to do anyway. No dates to go to or anything of that nature.

Willow walked calmly and silently down those first steps, her left hand was gripping a single red rose, the crimson colored blossom swinging with the palms of her hands as her slender arms swayed with the rest of her body. She was anxiously awaiting her date with Tara, wanting nothing more than to spend the whole day with her blonde goddess. As she tried to contain her composure, thoughts of her first date with a female came into her mind, crashing all her courage out the window in an instant.

She remembered it as if it was yesterday.

Fresh in her mind.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Willow sat at the countertop of her favorite coffee place, nervously twisting a small and slender straw in her hands, destroying the plastic tubing as she twisted it again and again. When the redhead was done with all her straws she grabbed a handful of ashen and colorless napkins, beginning her job of destroying that as well, ripping the cotton fabric into long strips. She was looking forward to her date with Renee, but she was nervous as hell.
Willow started on her third ruined napkin when she cupped her coffee mug into her hands, attempting to sip the warm liquid, her mouth was right at the rim of the mug when she heard a loud and cheerful voice of a girl, a voice she recognized.
“Willow!” the girl exclaimed, her eyes beaming. “I’m sorry I’m late.” She smiled brightly, her brown eyes luminous as she took in the sight of the redhead. “Traffic.”
Willow whipped her head in surprise so quickly that her hands stumbled haphazardly and warm coffee spilled all over the front of her blouse. Willow’s eyes widened when she realized what had happened; she grabbed onto the ruined remains of her stripped napkins and attempted to wipe the brown coffee stain off her new shirt.
“Willow?” Renee rushed to the redhead’s side, looking concerned, she grabbed a couple of napkins and helped her wipe the coffee spill off her shirt, but instead it only helped rub in the stain even more. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine.” Willow assured, shaking her head in embarrassment. She motioned to the seat in front of her and pulled a chair so the brunette can sit. “Have a seat.” She offered, attempting a smile. She ruined things already.
“Thank you, Willow.” Renee smiled and then looked at her menu. “For a coffee place, they sure do offer some great food.” She commented. “Don’t you think, Will?”
“Oh, yeah…” Willow nodded. “Lots of food.” She stated simply, nodding again, not knowing what to say other than to nod and say yes, she wasn’t comfortable with this girl and she was seriously wondering why she had accepted the date.
“Right…” Renee dragged out her words, frowning a bit at the obvious uncomfortableness of her redheaded date. “Willow, are you okay?” she asked, her brow furrowing in concern.
"I'm fine." Willow assured, standing up from her seat so quickly that the small table knocked to the floor, causing Renee's menu and purse to fall to the ground in a large heap. Willow's eyes were like two beach balls when she registered what had just happened. "Oh goddess, I'm sorry!" she exclaimed, leaning down to pick up the fallen tabletop.
"Willow..." Renee laughed, helping Willow pick up the table. "You're so tense." the brunette said, bringing her hands to gently massage the redhead's shoulders, Willow jumped at the touch, immediately uncomfortable.
"Willow?" she asked. "What's wrong."
"Nothing." Willow shook her head. "I'm fine."
"You tensed when I touched you." Renee stated matter of factly. "Are you not comfortable with me?"
"Of course I am." Willow smiled, leaning over and kissing Renee gently on the cheek. "I'm just nervous." she assured.
"Okay..." Renee smiled. "What do you want to eat?" she asked her date, looking at her menu.
Willow didn't seem to listen, she was staring at Buffy who was chatting with Xander at the other side of the room. She had asked them ro be there just in case she screwed up, she screwed up way too quickly.
"Will?" Renee asked. "Where do you keep looking at?"
"Ummm..." she trailed off. "I was..."
"It's that Buffy girl isn't it?" Renee narrowed her eyes. "I knew you had a thing with her." she accused.
"No, Renee I..." Willow started but was interuppted.
"I'll see you later, Willow." Renee stated before turning away. "Maybe after your date with Buffy you can come and date me." she added before leaving.
"But...I..." Willow started and then stopped. She sat there with a dejected look, glancing at Xander and Buffy who were immediatley at her side.
She screwed up her first date and she swore she wouldn't go on another, little did she know that she'd find Tara who would immediately change her outlook on life and love.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Willow wallked on silently, shaking her thoughts away from where it was previously. She needed to think about Tara, she needed to think good thoughts so she doesn't screw this up as well. She was almost there, her hands sweating in anticipation, anxiety, and eagerness.

When she finally reached her spot, their spot, she saw the blonde facing away from her, standing idly by the small, calming stream. The blonde wore a long red leather jacket that reached to her feet, her back was still to Willow so the redhead didn't know what the blonde was wearing underneath or how her face looked.

Willow walked slowly behind Tara, taking small steps. Tara tilted her head as she sensed Willow behind her, slowly she turned, her hair swaying gently in the wind as she gave Willow a blistering sweet smile, her deep blue depths shimmering brightly under the beaming rays of the luminous sun.

She looked so much like an angel, a shining angel sent down from heaven for Willow.

Just for Willow.

"Are you ready for our date?" The blonde smiled at the redhead, her eyes sparkling even more.

Willow nodded, her words catching in her throat.

'I'm ready.' Willow thought.

I hope when you read it, that it doesn’t feel like your reading some little kid’s writing material.

Don't worry about it, it definitely isn't kiddie material, and I'm not much older than ya, I'm only 20. :lol

Now, for the feedback-y goodness: I loved it, I got pretty tense when Donnie came in, but that went along without a hitch. As for the sappyness, it's not too sappy, as much as romantic and AWWW-worthy. Made me sigh happilly. I've been waiting for your update, and I guess that means that I really like what you write. :grin

Happy Holidays!

Your story is amazing and is the perfect amount of sappy, not too much, not too little....it's just right. Loved Willow's disastrous first date so much that it made me laugh out loud and get yelled at by my friend. You weren't kidding about it being embarrassing and painful since that's the way most first dates should be, except for our beloved Willow and Tara. Can't wait to read more. :D

Her first date with Renee is disastrous, but we all know why. It wasn't meant to be. W/T together forever. :heart

Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.

Tara: Willow, I got so lost.

Willow: I found you. I will always find you.

Oh this is all so romantic and sweet. :heart

Poor Willow's first date was really bad.

I'm 100 % sure the date with Tara is going to be awesome. :)

And your story isn't too sappy or "little kid's material".

It's perfect. I may be older than you, but i surely know that i'm not able to write such great stories. I'm just good at reading and enjoying them. :p

Awesome update!

Poor Willow what a klutz, she shouldn't be worried about Tara, she's already in love with her. Ooh, and btw, no worries with the sap :heart

According to Willow's previous date she's far better of kissing a girl before dating or knowing her, so she should be fine this time :) .

In this story it's not so much that Willow and Tara need to figure out they love each other, it's more that some other people appear to be in their way. They sure found each other easy enough :-) That line about Willow not seeing Tara's face when she approached they're meeting point had me a bit scared.

The entire ladder-part had me tense to, it's not something that will hold forever.... Willow was extremely lucky there. They can't continue meeting like that and it's unlikely neither Tara's dad or Donnie will find out about her seeing Willow anyway. Maybe Tara's dad will be more reasonable after he has absorbed the shock/change. It's not like he doesn't have enough troubles of himself to deal with, heh.

Willow going on a semi-date with Tara should be fun. Provided they don't spend it all on kissing they might actually get to know each other. (and by proxy, so will we)

But Tara's home situation is a worry as it will have to be resolved one way or the other. My hopes for a 'peacefull' solution aren't very high unfortunatly :cry .

Merry christmas :wave

I’ve been thinking about Tara’s family and why they’re so angry because no one can be that hostile without a compelling and valid reason, grief can turn to anger and thus the reason why Steve is so enraged with fury but I’ve made references early in the fic that Tara’s father had been like this even before his wife died and his fury within himself had only increased because of that death, so I’ve kind of dug myself a hole and I’m not too sure how to resolve this without having it feel like a Full House episode. Things like this can’t be solved with a simple flip of the wrist, there has to be a long process of healing and admitting mistakes, family counseling, discussions, heart to hearts, etc.

As you can see I’ve softened Donny and Steve a bit, him dropping the food for Tara at her room and merely leaving without a despicable comment to say and Steve telling Tara to go to her room without resorting to violence was a small step in that direction. As far as them not knowing where Tara is or where she’s going…well, a parent can’t keep tabs on their children 24/7 and we can always believe that Steve would be at work and Donny is out doing his own thing as well, thus Tara would be alone at home giving her the time to be with Willow.

I’ve been trying to work on Christmas Carols because I’ve kind of forgotten about it for a while, I want to write it with a better story and have it come back with a bang. That is if people still care about it. :)

Anyway, thanks for the replies. I want to thank you people individually later on to tell you kittens how much I appreciate the feedback and kind words, but that will come later since I managed to babble a bit already. Back to the fic!

Sorry for the delay but with Christmas and parties, things have been really hectic. I managed to eat myself to oblivion so I couldn’t even lift a finger to type anything for a few days.

Spreading Wings: The Strenuous Journey through life

The Date:

Willow walked on silently, shaking her thoughts away from where it was previously.

Tara gave Willow another radiant and luminescent smile, not moving an inch from where she was quietly standing by the small stream of their special place. The blonde merely offered her hand to Willow, her left arm outstretched, her sapphire orbs never leaving its lock on Willow’s emerald green. Magnetically, the redhead was drawn to Tara and she immediately walked those extra steps to Tara’s embrace, their hands interlocking in an instant.

“You look beautiful.” Willow commented in a smile as she tightly held onto Tara’s soft hand. “Not to mention hot, I mean look at that leather jacket!” Willow reached over to touch the material of Tara’s sleeve, rubbing her fingers over the fabric over and over. “I have never seen you look more hotter.” She looked up to meet Tara’s eyes, smiling brightly.

“Well, I think you look even more stunning.” Tara squeezed Willow’s hand more gently, feeling the electrical current of their joined palms vibrating throughout her body in a soothing flow of energy and she was sure that it went the other way for Willow as well. The bond between them was unquestionable.

“You went all out, you know you didn’t really have to.” she indicated Willow’s clothes and hair as she gently pulled the redhead even closer to her, needing to feel Willow’s warmth and ease against her cool skin.

“I had to look good for our date.” Willow stated simply, her voice was low and barely above an audible whisper, she was captivated by Tara’s beauty the same way Tara was captivated by hers. “A girl has to make an effort for her girl.”

“Well, I think you look incredible, breathtaking really, it makes it kind of hard to control myself.” Tara leaned down to kiss Willow on her left cheek, when she pulled back Tara was surprised to feel Willow’s lips against her own. Tara was shocked and startled but she managed to compose herself enough to kiss the redhead back leaving a few fleeting kisses on Willow’s lips as well before reluctantly but eventually pulling back.

“What was that for?” Tara’s hands rested on Willow’s shoulders in an attempt at balancing herself when she felt her knees go weak at her touch.

“Well, you with the shiny lip gloss and the fragrant smelling perfume, not to mention that stunning leather jacket…” Willow blushed and looked down at their interlocked hands; she shook her head a bit at what she had just done before lifting her gaze to Tara’s cobalt depths, seeing the sparkling amusement inside the blonde’s shimmering spheres. “You’re not the only one who can’t control themselves.”

“You caught me.” Tara confessed as their lips met once again, quickly but just as passionate. “And as much as I love kissing you, let’s try to control ourselves for now, that’s rule one.”

“Because if we start kissing again we’ll be lost in the moment and then we won’t have the time to talk and get to know each other like we promised ourselves we would do?” Willow babbled as she traced her slender index finger over Tara’s soft lips.

“Exactly.” Tara just nodded as she leisurely led the two of them away from the small stream. “Do you think you can last a whole day without ravishing my lips with yours?” she stopped to chuckle at herself when she realized that she had to ask herself that same exact question and promise herself to do that same exact thing. “And I have to ask myself that as well.”

“What is it telling you?” Willow swung their links hands together affably, walking to nowhere in particular. She felt so comfortable with Tara, she could just walk down these with her, holding hands, and it would be the best date that she has ever been in. That is if you can call it a date, they hadn’t really started in the order of how things should go dating-wise.

They saw each other, then they made out, they exchanged each other’s names, they made out once more before confessing their love, and now they were going out on a date. None of that fit in with the order of things, but they made their own rules.

“That I should get to know you.” Tara said honestly.

“What do you want to know about?”

“I want to know the very essence that is Willow.” She stated simply. “I want to know what makes you…” she paused to think of the right word, her eyes sparkled when she finally did. “You.”

Willow was quiet for a moment. “That’s hard to answer.” She sighed as she looked down to her feet, thinking of what to say. “What makes me me?”

Tara merely nodded. ”Who is Willow?”

Willow swallowed a bit as she tried to figure an answer for Tara's question, but she came up with nothing, Tara's question confused her. Willow looked up to Tara’s gaze and frowned. “I’m me?” she said in a small voice, not knowing what else to say. "Yeah, that's it...I'm me, all with the Willowness." she smiled.

Tara giggled. “Well, that narrows it down.”

“Well, I don’t know how to answer that, Tara.” Willow whined as they continued to walk down the sidewalk and ahead. “I mean I’m a lot of things…I’m a good friend, I’m a people person, I love books, I love life…” she listed out all the things that popped into her head that she thought had explained herself as best as she could, she then stopped their progressing steps and turned to Tara.

Tara turned to Willow as well.

“I love you.” Willow voiced softly as she took Tara’s hand into her own and brought it to her lips. “I love being with you and I know that there are a lot more to say and I want to tell you everything.” She finished quietly, looking down.

“We have all the time in the world to tell each other everything, Willow.” Tara was confident. “I don’t know where life will take us, it’s pretty much unpredictable, and I’m eager to see where…we go…but I want to ride this out with you.” She stated and then added more quietly. “For however long that will be.”

Willow lifted her head. “I want forever.”

“Forever?” Tara began her slow strides once again, bringing Willow with her as they continued with their walk. “Willow, we’ve only known each other for two days, not even two days, I mean if you count the hours…it’s been barely a whole movie that we’ve known each other.” She pulled at her ear nervously and then turned to face Willow once again, she looked at Willow just once before the redhead took her hand and brought it into hers. “I mean today is the day that we’re supposed to—”

“Today is the first day of the rest of our lives.” Willow voiced softly. “But I also can’t help but think about the other obstacles we have.” Willow pointed out as she shook her head. “Not everyone wants us to be together, Tara.” She finished quietly.

Tara turned her head and looked into Willow’s eyes, seeing the answer written all over the olive orbs. Her father.

Willow just nodded and then gave Tara an anxious look, a worried frown, a sad smile. “I’ve been worrying about your father.” The redhead took a few steps ahead and then stopped and brought both her hands into Tara’s, lifting them into the air between their two bodies and squeezing softly. “I mean he didn’t want us to be together, he told us that point blank, not that I care about what he says…I mean, nothing will ever change my mind about being with you but seeing the way he dragged you away…”

“Willow…” Tara brought their hands down and disengaged, looking down at her feet. “That doesn’t matter.” She shook her head.

“It matters to me, Tara.” Willow stated adamantly but gently, trying to catch the blonde’s blue depths into her green ones, needing the eye contact. “I don’t want to have to climb your window every time I want to see you.” She said softly and then dipped her head to meet Tara’s gaze. “We shouldn’t have to hide the fact that we’re together, to your father of to anyone else.”

Tara looked dejected.

“No matter how much fun and daring that was for me to do.” She tried to lighten up the mood, smiling slightly. “I love you Tara and I’m sorry if I ruined our get to know each other day but I felt like I had to bring that up.”

“I don’t want to have to do that either…I don’t want to always have to hide the fact that I’m with you, Will.” Tara amended and then continued to walk. “But as far as my father is concerned…he’s been completely non-emotional since my mother died and I-I can’t help him with that, I can’t help him with anything.” She finished softly; her face was somber and solemn. “He won’t even talk to me and I can’t talk to him and that’s how things…are.”

“Okay.” Willow relented, her voice softening. “So, what do we do about that?”

“I don’t know what you mean.” Tara shook her head, and then continued walking her slow strides. “Willow, I don’t know what to do…I’m just at a loss as you are on how this will go, the best that I can hope for is that he changes his mind but I can’t promise anything…either way Willow, I still want to be with you.”

Willow merely nodded and was silent for long moment before saying her next words. “Maybe I shouldn’t have brought it up.” Willow looked down at her feet, realizing that she had hit a hard cord of the blonde’s and seeing Tara upset and hurt broke her heart. “I’m sorry.”

Tara was silent for a long moment before she brought her hands into Willow’s. “No, you had to.” She insisted, bringing up their interlocked hands together. “You’re right, the thing with my father is an issue and it needed to be brought up and maybe your family too?” she questioned with a raised eyebrow. “You never told me about yours.”

“My mother doesn’t care.” Willow shook her head. “I could probably bring you to dinner tonight and she won’t even see you, she sees what she wants to see and I’m sure she wouldn’t want to see you with me.” The redhead silently confessed as they continued their walk. “I’m sorry that brought on all this gloom.” She said after a moment, taking in how their happy conversation had evolved into this serious and glum exchange of dialogue.

“Willow…” Tara began to say but was interrupted.

“No, Tara…” Willow stopped their tracks and stood in the middle of the sidewalk, she looked deep into Tara’s blue depths and tried to see in deeper. “This was supposed to be our date-day, all with the happiness, and I…I brought up your father which reminded you of your mom, which reminded me of my mom, which I don’t even want to think about….and now you wont even look at me.” She explained when she noticed that Tara’s gaze was to the floor and no to her.

Tara was looking at her feet and nothing else.

“I’ve ruined things once again.” Willow chastised herself, her eyes still to the floor.

“Ruined things?” Tara’s lifted her head and her brow furrowed in confusion, she put a hand over Willow’s shoulder and tried to catch her downcast eyes. “Willow what are you talking about?” Willow wasn’t making much sense and she was utterly confused at why she was so upset, what did she ruin? If she was talking about our day then she’s wrong, nothing can ruin our date. Not even this.

“I ruined things, I always ruin things.” Willow stated matter of factly, shaking her head in frustration. “And this time is worse because I really love being with you and to the point where I don’t think I can be without you and the other girl was…”

“Willow…” Tara grabbed both of Willow’s shoulders and shook her a bit, bringing her to sanity. “You didn’t ruin anything.” she stressed, gazing deeply into Willow’s eyes. “You didn’t ruin anything.” the blonde expressed slowly, letting Willow absorb the words. “Nothing is ruined Willow.”

“Then why does it feel ruined?” Willow brought her hands to rest on either side of Tara’s waist while Tara’s hands were resting comfortably on the redhead’s shoulders; they were so close together but yet so far apart. “This day was supposed to be happy.” She said softly.

“It still is.” Tara stared deeply into Willow’s green depths. “Yeah, our families aren’t the best out there but getting to know each other involves getting to know more about our families, the good and the bad.” She stressed. “And I do mean bad.” She chuckled.

“So I didn’t ruin things?” Willow asked in the smallest voice she could muster. “Because I tend to babble and I say things at the most horrible of times and I don’t realize it until it’s too late and by then there’s no going back and I want to be able to control myself and limit the babbling but it’s like a dam that breaks loose and I can’t stop it and want to—”

Tara suddenly brought her lips to Willow’s, kissing her tenderly and passionately. She needed to shut Willow up and this was the only way she knew how, not only was it enjoyable to her and to both of them as well, but it was the best way to get the redhead to calm down and think, clear her head. Willow did have a mouth on her.

“What happened to your rule about no kissing?” Willow tightly grabbed onto Tara’s back, tugging her closer. “That we needed to talk and get to know each other?”

“I had to stop your babbling.” Tara explained, grazing her thumb gently onto Willow’s bottom lip. “Willow, our date hasn’t even begun yet, we’re not even close to that….we have a whole day of talking and walking and if we get hungry we can catch a bite to eat and then talk some more…” Tara shook her head and then softly cupped Willow’s face with the palm of her hands. “The good and the bad, Willow.” She voiced warmly. “The good and the bad.”

Tara gazed intensely into Willow’s emerald depths.

“I like pizza.” Willow acknowledged abruptly, giving Tara a small smile. “And I have this huge obsession with Xena.”

“As in warrior princess?” Tara lifted an eyebrow and then continued their walk. “The TV show?”

Willow just nodded.

“You have a huge obsession with the show or do you have a huge obsession with the character?” Tara smiled; the mood that had once been gloomy was now back to being filled with contentment and delight, not to mention happiness. “Because I’m kind of wondering about that.”

“Both.” Willow smiled. “There’s just something about her, the whole being an amazon thing, the whole female empowerment message it sends.”

“Oh.” Tara brought her right hand into Willow’s left as they continued to walk down the Californian streets. “Okay.” She simply nodded. “Female empowerment, right.”

“You should try watching it sometime.” Willow suggested. “Maybe we could watch it together?”

“I don’t see how we can do that but…okay.” Tara tilted her head. “Maybe I can sneak into your house like you did for me?” She smiled and caught Willow’s eyes. “And I know you said we can’t keep doing that but it might be fun to do it just once.”

“You might not have to.” Willow shrugged and swung their joined hands just once, almost skipping. “My parents are off a lot doing conferences and meetings out of state, so they’re usually not here.” She explained with a small smile. “You can just knock on my front door if you want to, no ladders necessary.”

“Maybe we should just focus on getting to know each other before we start thinking about spending a night in each other’s houses.” She smiled. “But I’ll consider it.”

Willow and Tara were completely comfortable together, the two girls continued to walk ahead, to no where in particular. They were just enjoying the pleasant day outside and relishing in the feel of them together, just leisurely walking down the concrete pathways and sidewalks near the residential streets.

The sky was sapphire blue with little clouds blocking the luminous sun, the gleaming rays of sunlight was so strong and brilliant that it provided a soft warmth upon anyone who was outdoors, it was just a beautiful day for a quiet walk and a peaceful picnic. Which is exactly what Tara had in mind.

Tara wanted to have a private picnic with Willow, in a private place, over looking a small pond. She left her picnic basket near a large oak tree that provided much needed shade and took the chances of leaving it there until they reached the area, she was sure no one was going to steal it but with squirrels and raccoons, anything could happen. But she took the chance.

"Tara, is there anywhere in particular we were suppose to be?" Willow questioned as they continued their quiet trek down the cement walkways of the small town, as they continued their walk they reached a small grassy clearing, a park like community, and wouldn’t you know…a beautiful area that was perfect for a quiet picnic.

“You’ll see.” Tara pulled Willow into the small park area, all the way in the corner of the green lot; she tugged Willow gently until they reached a large tree and on the grassy floor sat an oversized blanket and a small picnic basket.

It was all too romantic and sweet, not to mention the picturesque and scenic view they had of a small pond and the cute baby ducks that were swimming nearby. Other than the small animals that were there, the two girls had all the privacy in the world, the park was surprisingly deserted. “You like?” Tara asked softly, carrying a beaming smile as she helped Willow sit on the large plush blanket.

“Tara, this place is beautiful.” Willow managed to utter when she sat down. “Tara, thank you for doing this.” She stated honestly, loving how romantic the scene seemed.

Willow looked up to see Tara beginning to sit down as well, leaning her back against the hefty trunk of the oak tree. As the blonde leaned comfortably against the large tree, Tara gently pulled Willow into her so the redhead could lean against Tara. That’s how they sat, with the blonde cradling Willow from behind and Willow leaning against Tara’s chest, her head resting on the other girl’s soft shoulder.

“I just figured this would be better than going to a restaurant.” Tara leaned forward, without disengaging Willow from her and grabbed the picnic basket into her arms.

Willow just nodded.

“With people with cell phones and all the TV’s they have now, how are we ever going to talk?” Tara opened the top of the basket and carefully pulled out all the bits of food she had prepared after her father left for work and Donny began his job at a local construction company helping the workers carry and store large lumber and metal debris, it was a job that paid little but it was something to do, they never knew what Tara was cooking up for Willow, and for now, Tara liked it that way.

“I hope you like orange juice.” Tara commented, handing the small bottle to the beaming redhead. “If not, I brought some water and soda.” She softly explained.

“I love orange juice.” Willow smiled and took the offered bottle from the blonde, the redhead moved a bit from Tara’s chest and sat a little ahead of her so Tara could be more comfortable when digging through the basket and at least then they would be face to face, sitting contentedly across from each other. “Tara, did you put together all this food yourself…for me?”

“For us.” Tara smiled and then uncapped the lid of a small plastic container that held various fruits that were perfect for a picnic. “I have grapes, strawberries, kiwi slices…” the blonde listed all the pieces of fruit that she had inside. “I hope you’re not allergic to any of that.” She locked her eyes to Willow’s. “You’re not right?” she asked worriedly. “Because if you are I can always…”

“Baby, I’m not allergic to anything.” Willow assured, her eyes widened when she realized that it was the first time she had ever called Tara ‘baby’, she swallowed and glanced at the blonde nervously.

“Baby?” Tara smiled and blushed; she reached into her picnic basket and pulled out a single red rose. Tara studied the flower and handed it to Willow, her blue depths met Willow’s cobalt green and her heart nearly melted at the contact. “For you…baby.” She said the last word with a half-smile and her body shivered as she did so, it felt so right. “My heart to your heart?”

Willow nodded. “My heart to your heart.”

Tara smiled and unwrapped a sandwich she had prepared for the two of them. “I made some turkey sandwiches for us.” She voiced and then handed it to Willow gently. “I hope you’re hungry; you’re not a vegetarian are you?” she inquired as an afterthought, hoping that she wasn’t.

“No.” Willow shook her head. “I tried once but when I saw Buffy and Xander eating pepperoni pizza, right in front of me might I add, I didn’t last any much longer than that.” She chuckled and pulled a long blade of green grass at the side of her. “As much as I want to be a vegetarian, I just don’t think I have the discipline right now.”

“I know what you mean.” Tara nodded softly, smiling.

“Tara, tell me about yourself.” Willow said suddenly as she got up and snuggled into Tara, her body was resting against the other girl’s chest comfortably.” I want to know everything.”

Tara once again leaned against the tree and helped Willow lie against her, holding her into her arms as they quietly told the other about their lives. Tara took Willow’s hands into her own and squeezed the redhead’s small hands softly, hugging the other girls more firmly into her chest, gripping Willow’s shoulders gently. Tenderly cradling her, embracing her from behind, Willow sighed at the contact and fixated her eyes to their interlocked hands.

“I always loved getting up in the morning to watch the sun rise with my mom.” Tara softly stroked Willow’s arm, her eyes were sad when she remembered the good times she had before her mother died. “Dad and Donny were still asleep but my mother and I were always wide awake, we would sit at the steps of our back yard and wait for the sun to come up.” She continued in a soft voice. “I still feel her arms around me when I go out by myself.” Tara bit her lip and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath.

“I wish I could do that with my mother.” Willow voiced gently, shaking her head. “You must really miss her.” She added.

“Every single day.” Tara nodded softly and then rested her chin on the top of Willow’s head.. “But being with you makes things better.”

Willow just nodded and began playing with Tara’s slender fingers. “Xander, Buffy, and I would go to the beach at night and light a small fire.” The redhead added her part to the conversation, thinking about all the times she spent with her best friends. “We would bring a small boom box and dance around the blaze.” She giggled and continued playing with the blonde’s fingers. “It’s like a tradition for us.” She lifted her head and looked deeply into Tara’s deep blue depths. “You can come with us one day.” She offered. “You and Jarred.”

“I would love to.” The blonde smiled and then she leaned forward to grab a small batch of seedless grapes, she leaned back to the tree and picked a grape from the brown stem and waved it gently in front of Willow, the blonde watched Willow’s pink tongue slip out, begging for a taste of the delectable grape, Tara smiled and carefully placed the fruit into Willows’ mouth. “How is it?” she asked.

“Delicious.” Willow mouthed, softly chewing the small fruit. “But you’re more delicious.” She smiled and then leaned up to kiss the blonde softly on the lips. “Tara-tongue.” She mumbled and then leaned up to kiss Tara once again. “I can taste you forever.”

“We have forever.” Tara stroked the redhead’s ruby colored tresses gently, kissing her softly; she then leaned back, pulling Willow against her, embracing her tenderly. “You want forever, right?”

“It’s the one thing that feels right.” Willow voiced affectionately. “I doubt that anyone, even your father, can keep us apart.”

Tara smiled softly and squeezed Willow tightly, she looked ahead of them as she saw a pack of baby ducks following their mother duck in the water, Willow looked up to Tara and saw that the blonde’s attention was elsewhere. She followed Tara’s gaze and smiled at the adorable sight. “How come our families can’t be like that?” Willow questioned, snuggling even deeper into Tara’s embrace. “If simple ducks can do it…”

“Humans have more baggage.” Tara shrugged her shoulders in defeat. “You just need to give them time, my family and yours.”

Willow merely nodded and sighed, nestling her face into Tara’s chest, the blonde softly caressed the side of Willow’s face, her thoughts replaying a mile a minute in her head, the two girls sat like that in comfortable silence, just reveling in the simple feel of each other in the other’s arms, feeling the warm sensation of each other’s touch, shivering in longing and contentment. Tara lifted Willow’s hands into her own and gently kissed the redhead’s slender fingertips.

“When is your birthday, Tara?” Willow broke the calm silence; she lifted her head and gave the other girl a questioning glance. “I want to give you the biggest birthday present ever.” She smiled.

“February 14th.” Tara grabbed a small strawberry and gently placed it onto the redhead’s lips; she watched as Willow opened her mouth and took a small bite into the red fruit. She moaned in pleasure and mimicked Tara’s movements, feeding each other compassionately. “I was born on Valentines Day.”

Willow lifted her head, her eyes widening at the revelation. “That’s perfect!” Willow exclaimed and frowned. “I won’t be able to celebrate your birthday for another six months but…I’ll still be here.” She finished softly. “Promise me you’ll be there too.” She pleaded to Tara, their hands still interlocked.

“I’ll be there.” Tara promised, softly caressing Willow’s red hair, she leaned down and tenderly kissed the other girl’s silky locks. “I’ll be there, Willow.”

“We still have a lot to talk about.” Willow stated softly, she got up from Tara’s embrace and picked up her forgotten turkey sandwich, she took a large bite of the snack and turned back to Tara, her mouth still full.

"We have all day to talk and we have all day to do this." Tara stated to say before gently pushing Willow to lie on her back, resting against the soft plushy blanket.

Tara rested her body on top of Willow's, her elbows on either side of the redhead's face. Tara gave Willow the most devilish and coy smile that chilled her to the bone. Willow was startled, she swallowed the food that was in her mouth and gulped, before she knew it Tara's mouth was on hers, kissing her passionately.

Willow relaxed her hands and pulled Tara into her, kissing her back. The two girls lay on the large oversized balnket, under the shimmering glow of the shining sun, right beside the swimming ducks, against the tall oak tree, a forgotten picnic basket at their side.

They continued to kiss, not caring who saw them.

:happycry Oh yeah, definitely happy tears. That was so beautiful. And the, "My heart to your heart," that quote is so simple but amazingly true. WOW, another great update. I am so hooked to this fic. And, the way Willow and Tara are already thinking about the future, the good and bad, just makes things seem real. Love. Most times it's so complicated that you may need a book. And there are times that it's plain and simple. Here, Willow and Tara have something simple but soon to be complicated, I think, heehee. Okay, I will stop guessing and just wait for the next update. Anyway, once again, great work. Can't wait to read more. =)

Willow's was right to start the talk, they need to consider their families because they could try to keep them apart. And at the end, I do believe Tara's going back on her desire to just talk, major move points there!

And to those who haven’t, please do! I want to hear from other people as well the good and the bad; constructive criticism is very much welcomed and any other ideas to where you want to story to go is appreciated. I’d like to hear from other kittens as well, if there’s any way I can improve on the storyline or alter a few parts of the premise, you’re welcome to say it. Any way to receive more readers and a variety of kittens to drop a word, well I’d really be thankful. I’m not asking for a thousand replies from everybody, but one from someone different would be great. :)

“And but thou love me, let them find me here

My life be better ended by their hate

Than death prorogued, wanting of thy love”

- Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare

Willow softly kissed Tara, her heart bursting at the tender contact, at the sensation of their lips pressing against the other in an intimate embrace, holding each other close. Willow opened her eyes when Tara had pulled her lips back and she saw deep into Tara’s cobalt depths, the blue in her eyes were so deep that she couldn’t look away, not even if she wanted to.

“Tara…” Willow breathed, still gazing intensely and deeply into sapphire orbs. Willow reached out her hand and gently cupped Tara’s face, her slender digits grazing the blonde’s soft skin with an affectionate fingertip, delicately tracing the outline of Tara’s eyes, learning by heart the distinct shape and color of the other girl’s overwhelming depths, admitting it into her subconscious and her conscious, committing it to memory, never wanting to forget.

“Yeah?” Tara’s breathing still a bit shallow. The blonde’s full body rested comfortably onto Willow’s, she took a deep breath and gazed downwards, the smaller redhead’s emerald colored orbs appeared to have the same effect hers had, completely and utterly captivating. The green in her eyes were like a sea green valley of meadows and pastures, the profound color of the greenest grass the earth has ever seen.

“Willow, is something wrong?” the blonde questioned the redhead beneath her, her head tilting to the side in concern, worried that she had done something wrong, that maybe she had changed her mind about their relationship that maybe the troubles in their families were too much of either of them to handle. There were too many maybes.

“No, nothing is wrong Tara.” Willow brushed away a few strands of dark blonde hair away from her lover’s face, her eyes still locked into blue. “I was just looking into your eyes.” She voiced gently, their faces were mere inches away from each other. They were so close that they shared the same breath, the same oxygen, the same soul and body, and the same beating heart. “They sparkle.” Willow’s fingers continued to map out and trace the outer edges of Tara’s smooth skin, around and around an azure colored orb, seemingly mesmerized.

“They only sparkle when I’m with you.” The other girl shifted her weight off Willow’s petite body and moved to rest on her side, onto the lush and velvety fabric of the oversized blanket below them. She leaned her head against the palm of her hands; the elbow of her arm pressing against the soft ground beneath, Tara continued to stare into Willow’s jade eyes. “Willow, I know that we still need to talk.”

“Then tell me everything.” Willow moved to scoot her body to rest against Tara’s chest, her head just underneath the blonde’s chin, cuddling close. “Tell me about your life, your family; tell me everything that is good in your life and all the bad things too.” She lifted her head and leaned the side of her face against her girlfriends shoulder, their hands interlocking tenderly. “I want to know every single second of who are, all the pages that make up your very existence.” She continued. “Everything that makes you…you.”

“I can make the best pancakes know to man.” Tara smiled as her hands began a soft stroking motion on the redhead’s crimson tresses. “It was the first thing my mother taught me how to make when I was a little kid, it didn’t taste that great at first but it got better and better after all those attempts, and now…well now….” She tried to think of the right word. “They’re perfection.”

“I’d like to try some one day.” Willow lifted her head and gave her blonde lover a thoughtful look, she exhaled a breath and nestled her head to Tara’s soft shoulders once again, it was a comfortable and content spot, even softer than the softest pillow. Willow opened her eyes and realized that Tara’s chest would be even softer so she nuzzled her face into the push valley of Tara’s breast, sighing in pleasure and gratification as her head felt like it had touched heaven. “Maybe you can teach me the recipe?”

Tara smiled at that, her eyes glued to their interlocked hands, her slim fingers playing with Willow’s digits lovingly and tenderly; gentle and soft touches against smooth warm skin, electrical currents beaming from fingertip to fingertip in an internal massage of love, stroking softly. “Maybe someday I can make breakfast for you.” She suggested delicately. “Until that day comes…” she trailed off and smiled sadly.

“You can make breakfast for me any day.” Willow looked up to see into Tara’s face, needing her to grasp the simple fact that whatever obstacles they had in life, whether it be a family hurdle or their own tribulations, their genuine and bona fide love for each other would conquer all, it would outweigh all the bad and unleash all the good. “We’ll figure out something, Tara.” She assured.

“Why is everything so hard?” Tara shook her head, her voice soft and thoughtful. “You know what I want to do Willow?” Tara asked her girlfriend, their hands were still pressing together amorously. “I want to bring you to my father’s….”

Willow lifted her head and looked up to Tara, frowning.

“I want to take you my by hand and tell him that I love you, that there’s nothing he can say to stop that.” She turned her head to the redhead beside her and brought her face to Willow’s, their noses brushing together lightly, Tara pulled back slightly and continued to stare deeply into emerald depths. “I don’t want to be afraid of him anymore, Willow…I don’t want to spend the rest of my life hiding away.”

Willow lifted their entwined hands and pressed her palm into Tara’s, she then began rubbing her finger over the side of the blonde’s thumb, gently caressing the soft smooth skin of her lover’s slender hand. “I think…I think that you should only do that when you’re ready…when the time is completely right.” She clarified gently.

“And you don’t think that the time is right?” Tara whispered as their hands were still pressing together tenderly, she saw that her hands were longer than her lover’s, a centimeter more.

“Only you can answer that.” Willow replied with a soft shake of her head. “I haven’t told my mother yet about us, considering it hasn’t been that long since we were together, and I don’t want you to think that you should feel pressured to confront your father until you’re really ready to take that step.”

“You’re right.” Tara nodded as she sat up and rested her back against the large oak tree behind her, she saw Willow sit up as well and turned to face her. “Okay, where were we?” Tara lifted an eyebrow and tilted her head.

“Pancakes?” Willow leaned down to pick up a turkey sandwich and then crawled over to where Tara was sitting. “Exchanging life stories, getting to know each other…getting to know you.” She lifted her hand and brought it to the blonde’s shoulders, sitting a bit behind her. The redhead took a bite of her sandwich and then began a gentle massage of Tara’s shoulders. “I can tell you something about me.” She suggested with a small smile when her ears registered the soft moans that were escaping Tara’s lips. “What would you like to know?”

Tara looked up at the sky and then closed her eyes as her mind drifted in deep thought, she let out a soft sigh as her body reacted to the pleasures and bliss Willow’s touch was sending her. Her body shivered uncontrollably at Willow’s pleasant and tender massage, quivering in contentment. “What do you like to do in your spare time?” she let out another sigh, her azure orbs still tightly shut. “When you’re not in school, when you’re not with me?”

“I usually spend my time with Buffy and Xander.” Willow replied with a soft nod, her eyes contemplative. “When I’m not doing that, I like to read books, sometimes I write in my journal….” She saw Tara turn her head and the two girls locked their eyes, Willow smiled softly before speaking her next words, their eyes still gazing deep. “I wrote about us, it’s only a page long but I have a feeling that the pages will get even longer.”

“What do you write about?” Tara questioned softly.

“Everything.” Willow shrugged. “I figured that life goes by so fast, if you don’t write stuff down it just gets lost…and I want to remember.” She explained quietly, gently fiddling with her fingers as she looked down at her hands. “I want to remember everything I do with you.” She uttered those nine words in the softest voice she could muster and then lifted her head to look into Tara’s eyes; the blonde was now facing her in attention, sitting face to face, Indian style on the cherry colored blanket beneath them.

“I want to remember too.” Tara smiled softheartedly. “Tell me more about you, Willow.” The blonde placed the palm of her left hand gently on top of Tara’s right thing, silently encouraging her. “Tell me everything that I need to know, that I need to remember.”

Willow gave her girlfriend a small smile, her emerald eyes dazzling vibrantly beneath the shining rays of the incandescent sun above them; a smile was all it took for Tara’s heart to melt in ways she never thought possible, it was the most beautiful site she has ever seen and it was no wonder that it was one of the things that she noticed when she initially took her first glimpse at the redhead ahead of her, all those long hours ago, a day long past. Willow wrapped her arms around Tara and then began to tell the blonde all the things that made her…her. All the Willowly parts of her Willowly life.

“Well…” the redhead started to say, her eyes beaming. “I like listening to instrumental music.” She shrugged. “Sometimes I lie on the sand at the beach and stare at the clouds in the sky.”

“Do you see different shapes?” Tara asked, she turned to Willow and watched her dismount from her position against the tree, leaning down on the soft blanket, the blonde followed her and the two girls were now resting on their back, looking into the sky above.

“There are a lot of different shapes.” Willow nodded and gazed up into the sky. “Butterflies and unicorns, even little kitties.” She smiled when she thought of all the different characters and shapes that had graced the blue sky above, Buffy and she used to have the best time guessing how many various outlines they could come up with, they had a rough patch but that had lasted very briefly, Buffy and her still needed to talk about a few things and she was wondering what had stopped her from starting that conversation, she looked to Tara and saw the answer there.

“You know I used to do the same thing, except I look onto the night sky instead of the clouds.”

“What would you look at?” Willow questioned softly.

“I used to love to look up at the stars when I was little.” Tara explained quietly. “They’re supposed to make you feel all insignificant; they made me feel like I was in space… part of the stars.”

“I want to stay here all day and night and look into the stars with you.” The redhead confessed. “I don’t want to go home.”

“I don’t think our parents will like that very much.” Tara shook her head as she imagined all that would happen if she didn’t return home, as much as she wanted to stay with Willow. “But right now I’m not really caring.”

“What about your dad?” Willow asked, tilting her head a bit as she continued to stare into the clear indigo sky above them. “He seems kind of…off his head a little bit.”

“I doubt that he’d even realize that I was gone.” Tara internally rationalized. “But I guess that I do have to go back home.”

“Night is so far away from now, Tara.” Willow gently reminded her girlfriend. “We still have the whole day of us.”

“I wouldn’t want to spend it with anyone else.” Tara merely nodded and then continued to listen intently to all the things Willow started to tell her, all that she liked to do, all the places she’s been to, all the various books she’s read, and her favorite movies, everything.

Tara sat idly in Willow’s arms and focused on the redhead’s words, taking it all in, committing it to memory.

Her mind went back to what Willow had said to her, her soft voice echoing in her consciousness. ‘I want to remember everything I do with you.’ She heard Willow’s voice play in her mind and she knew deep in her soul that the words held truth to her as well, she may not have a journal by her side but her heart would never forget.

Her heart would always remember.

Summers House:

Soon after Willow had left for her date with Tara, Buffy and Xander decided to do something of their own. The two friends didn’t have anybody for themselves so any kind of romantic social life was out of the question but a friendly game of scrabble had been suggested between the two of them.

Xander enthusiastically got out the board game and shook the blocks out of its small pouch, Buffy wasn’t as excited as Xander was but that didn’t seem to stop her from playing the game either. Joyce passed by her living room and saw that her daughter and Xander were at the coffee table enjoying a game of scrabble, her presence in the living area resulted in her joining them as well.

“Now, Buffy dear…” Joyce quietly corrected her daughter when she noticed that Buffy had misspelled a word on the scrabble board. “Friend is spelled with an ie not an ei.” She carefully switched the two letters with a simple flip of her fingers and smiled happily when the incorrect letters were rearranged properly. “Now, you should know that.”

Buffy just sighed and rolled her eyes.

“Yeah, Buffy.” Xander put his two cents into the conversation; he placed his letter block on the board so he could complete his word and then turned to face his friend who was sitting to the left of him. “We’re starting senior year in a week and you still can’t spell one simple word, how did you ever pass junior year?” she joked and then burst out laughing at his own joke, he looked at Joyce and then smiled widely, he saw Buffy’s mother chuckle slightly and shake her head but when he turned to face Buffy he was rewarded with a cold stare.

“Oh, c’mon Buffy…it’s just a joke.” He tried to amend the situation but was once again rewarded with yet another cold stare. “Okay…I guess it wasn’t that funny.” He dragged out his words. “Ooh!” he squealed and then placed a letter to complete his block. After Buffy and Joyce had put there’s down. “That’s….one, two, three, four times two…” he looked up and frowned. “Four times two…”

Buffy burst out laughing. “You’re making fun of the fact that I can’t spell ‘friend’ yet you can’t even multiply four with two?!” she held onto her stomach and snorted a bit as she continued to laugh hysterically. “Four times two Xander, four times two?” she chuckled even louder, tears streaming down her face. “You’re a complete idiot.”

“It’s eight!” Xander suddenly raised his hand in triumph, her index finger in the air as his face lit up brightly. He turned to Buffy and stuck out his tongue. “See, I knew it.” He then crossed his arms over his chest. “Four times two equals eight.” He smiled.

“Took you long enough.” Buffy chuckled lightly. “Right, mom?”

“I am not involved.” Joyce shook her head and continued to arrange the letters on the scrabble board. “Buffy, where is Willow by the way? I’d figure that she’d be here.” Her mother quietly stated as she placed a small wooden block piece on the game board. “Wasn’t she here earlier?” she tilted her head slightly.

“Willow’s out on a date.” Xander pointed out in a smile, nodding his head enthusiastically. “Her and Tara sitting in a tree…” * did you guys get that the first time? The tree was purposely mentioned in the last update for that verse, and we know how the rest of the song goes. :) *

“K-i-s-s-i-n-g.” Buffy finished for Xander in a sing song perky voice.

Xander’ eyes lit up as he thought of something. “How funny would that be if they were actually kissing under a tree?” he put his block down to spell another word. “How great would that be?”

“Willow’s out on a date?” Joyce questioned in a smile. “That’s great.”

“Sure is.” Xander gave the older woman a beaming smile of his own. “You should have seen how they met, which wasn’t that long ago by the way.” He pointed out eagerly.

“Hey, how DID they meet?” Buffy was suddenly curious, she leaned in and gave Xander all the attention possible. “I wasn’t there.” She explained to her mother who was giving her a questioning look when she mentioned that she wasn’t there, Buffy and Willow were always together. “This was after the whole beach incident that me and Willow…”she trailed off with a sad look and then looked back up to her mother. “We still haven’t discussed it yet.”

“Buffy…Willow isn’t mad at you anymore.” Xander assured his friend, placing a gentle hand over the blonde’s shoulder, squeezing softly. “You holding up the ladder for her last night was one of the things that convinced her that you haven’t changed what you feel about her, that maybe you pulling back that day wasn’t as serous as she let believe.” She stared with a nod of his head. “It isn’t right?”

“No.” Buffy shook her head adamantly. “Ofcourse not, I know why I pulled back but I realize now how stupid I was being…there’s no reason for me to act the way that I did.” She nodded. “And the ladder thing….well, I would’ve done that anyway…instead of eating sandwiches with Jarred.” Her eyes hardened.

Xander gave Buffy a confused look.

“You make a cute couple by the way.” Buffy pointed out in a small smile, chuckling a bit as and shaking her head at the various images that came into her mind of Jarred and Xander; it was the funniest thing she could ever envision. She could almost see Jarred feeding Xander grapes under an oak tree, rolling together in the plush, crimson blankets.

Xander’s eyes widened.

“Xander, I didn’t know you were gay too.” Joyce voiced as her brow furrowed, she never knew that both of her daughter’s best friends were gay, it made her wonder about Buffy as well and she knew in her heart that it wouldn’t really matter if Buffy was or wasn’t. She’d love her daughter no matter what, gay, straight, or purple, it didn’t really matter on bit. “Who is this Jarred person?” she tried to offer her support to the young man sitting in front of her. “You’ve been together long?”

“We ARE NOT together.” Xander stressed, his eyes were as wide a two giant golf balls. “We are friends, he’s Tara’s friend and I realized that he’s a cool guy…plus, I was hungry that day and he offered me a sandwich.” He stated matter of factly. “And you were eating with us as well, you ate like two and a huge soda to top it all off!” he pointed out. “So, you weren’t holding that ladder for long, Willow could have broken her neck when you gave up on her and chose to become a pig.” He laughed.

Buffy just smiled and shrugged.

“So, Xander…” Joyce was careful with her next words. “If Jarred isn’t your boyfriend then I take it there’s some other lucky young man under your wing, is it that blonde boy next door that I saw you talking with the other day?” she looked up and frowned as she thought of the boy’s name. “What was his name…” she frowned even deeper as she searched her brain. “Riley was it?”

Buffy giggled when she saw Xander’s eyes widen even more.

“Mom...” Buffy managed to say between chuckles. “Xander isn’t gay.”

“I am SO not gay.” Xander stressed. “Not there is anything wrong with that.” He said hurriedly. “Gay is great, Willow’s gay and I love her, Jarred’s gay and I think he’s great, and I’m one hundred percent sure that Tara is a sweetheart.” He nodded his head enthusiastically. “We should really put some time on the side to get to know her more.”

“I think Willow’s busy doing that.” Buffy voiced matter of factly. “Which gets us back to where they met, or more importantly how.”

“Well, we went to a psychic…” Xander began to explain what he had tried to earlier, making sure not to leave out any important details. “And the lady there told us that Willow would meet this blonde girl…”

“Which is Tara.” Joyce dragged out her words and then tried to follow along. “Am I getting this right?”

Buffy and Xander simultaneously nodded.

“She’s this really hot blonde that Willow had spotted on the street.” Xander continued to explain. “Willow was pointing at her and stealing quick peaks, then she started babbling about the psychic and what she said about this blonde she was suppose to meet, something about holding each other’s hearts or something…” he sighed and shook his head as he tried to remember what his redheaded friend at jabbered on about. “Something to that effect.” He frowned.

Joyce just nodded while Buffy was doing the same.

“Anyway…” Xander shook his thoughts away. “All of a sudden I saw Jarred dragging Tara towards us, and the next thing I knew…Willow and Tara were kissing each other like there was no tomorrow!” Xander exclaimed eagerly. “They didn’t even exchange names before they started with the lesbian lip lock.”

“Oh.” Buffy said deadpanned. “That’s very non Willow-like.” She said matter of factly. “I thought they would have at least exchanged a few words before jumping into that.” Her brow furrowed. “But I guess if Willow’s happy…”

“And her climbing up Tara’s window was Willow-like?” Xander rolled his eyes. “I tell you, love makes people go crazy.”

Buffy and Joyce seemed to agree and went back to their scrabble board.

Willow and Tara sitting in a tree…

Willow’s head resting happily against Tara’s soft shoulder, her emerald eyes were filled with a satisfied tint of contentment and peacefulness. The day was bright and brilliant, the shimmering rays of the resplendent sun in the heavens was as bright as ever, and the soothing sound of the twittering birds in the tree above them supplied a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere that both girls greatly appreciated. That, along with the gentle ruffles of the pond in front of them and the mere and simple fact that she was in Tara’s arms, made this day the best day in the world.

The best and greatest date she has ever been in, with the most breathtaking and magnificent girl in the world….hands down.

“Should we get up?” Tara asked after a long moment of comfortable silence, she turned her body a bit to her side so she could look into Willow’s jade depths; both girls leaned their weight on their elbows and turned their attentions to the other. “How long have we been here anyway?”

“A few hours.” Willow smiled at the blonde in front of her. “Time seems to fly when we’re together…hours seems to go by like minutes.” She gave her girlfriend a small half-grin. “Lucky that we have all the time in the world.”

“Do we?” Tara inquired softly, her sapphire eyes thoughtful.

“We can see each other at school next week.” Willow delicately pointed out. “We have a whole year of out senior year ahead of us.” She brought her hands to gently stroke Tara’s blonde hair. “You’re parents wont be there so that’s good news.” She smiled sweetly. “And guess how fun it would be to hang out with Xander, Buffy, and I.” she reminded her lover. “Jarred can come too.”

“Jarred’s starting college.” Tara clarified and then brought her hands into Willow’s. “But I’m glad I have you.” She declared softly. “I mean besides Jarred, I don’t really have anyone else.” She quietly confessed.

“You have me.” Willow assured, her emerald depths gazing deeply into Tara’s sapphire blue.

“I guess I do.” Tara smiled softly. “Why don’t we walk for a bit? It’s such a nice day out.”

“Good idea.” Willow nodded as she sat up from her position on her back and onto her feet. “And you’re right about the day; I’m surprised that it didn’t rain today.” She helped Tara up as she felt a soft breeze pass through her causing her crimson curls to sway gently in the cool wind. “Because that would’ve been bad.” She smiled. “You wouldn’t want to have two wet lesbians.”

“Not yet anyway.” Tara winked at the redhead, biting her lower lip as she tried to not giggle at her own joke. “In time I’m sure.” She smiled.

“Tara!” Willow was shocked; she couldn’t help but blush at her girlfriend’s innuendo, but she was sure that anything that would happen between them that involved that would only transpire in time. And as quick as it was for them to get together that day on the streets, no matter how quick it was for them to confess each other’s love, she wasn’t in any rush to take that next step. When they were both ready, they would without a doubt take that next step, it would be a first for both of them.

Tara just smiled as they began their stroll down the Californian walkways. They walked through the park and towards the cement sidewalks, quietly enjoying their time together, hand and hand; they continued to saunter through the boardwalk.

Donny got off work early and decided to head back home. He wanted to get to his room and lay his feet down; he was utterly exhausted and wanted nothing else but to lay in his bed with an earphone to his ear and maybe a beer. Donny put down his yellow hard hat and said goodbye to the rest of his coworkers as he proceed to his house.

As he continued to stroll away, his thoughts drifted to his mother. He was always a bit jealous at the relationship Tara had with their mother, and hated the fact that he couldn’t have had that with his own father. Like mother like daughter, like father like son. Instead, there was no father and son relationship and he spent his life hating that fact other than trying to have one with his own mom.

Tara had mom and he had nobody. But the truth was that he was at fault, he pulled away from his mom, and now he couldn’t ever have that back. He did remember though all the wonderful days he spent with her, and Tara, and sometimes their father all those years ago. He wondered where it all went. He wondered what was in him that carried all this anger, why he hated Tara so much. Because there really is no reason, and if he was man enough, he might just be able to admit that out loud, and change.

As he continued to walk he realized that he was nearing the place where his mother was and a huge chunk of him was pushing him to go there, he hadn’t been there since the funeral but he knew he needed to go. He took a left turn on the corner of the curb and silently made his way to the entrance of the cemetery, as he passed by lime the large colored shrubs and bushes at the side of him, he realized that it carried a few flowers; Donny tentatively pulled out a single blossom and headed for the gravestone.

Thanks for the replies... Hope you guys liked the Christmas Carols Wedding, sorry for the spelling and grammar errors. I was in a rush to type it and everything; it was pretty long too so by the time I was done typing it I was too tired to check for spelling mistakes.

The First Day of School:

Tara dug into her school bag and made sure that all of her school supplies and materials were in order, it was the first day of school and she found it essential to be organized and prepared, but the one thing in her mind that stuck out was that she couldn’t wait to see Willow.

The redheaded beauty that caught her azure eyes, the slim figured girl who stole her heart, the freckled faced beauty that she already knew she loved.

Her everything.

Tara smiled in happiness and bliss as she pictured Willow’s face in her head, the slender and petite hands she loved to touch, and the deep emerald depths she longed to be lost in.

She never looked forward to school before, she had always dreaded it and hated it, if not just for the mere fact that she thought she’d never fit in. And for three years in high school, she never really did.

‘But today might be different.’ Tara thought to herself.

Tara smiled to herself again, shaking her head away from her thoughts and musings, a deep and magnetic flow of joy rushing through her veins as she pulled her school bag over her shoulder, preparing and bracing herself for her first step into a new life, an unsullied journey through high school, with someone there to share it with.

Finally happiness, the first kind of joy she has ever truly felt since her mother passed away. Thinking about that made her heart ache but knowing that her mother would be proud made it soar even higher, higher than any kind of ache can hold down.

So she took a deep breath, puffed out her chest, and headed to the door. Her slender hands brought itself closer to the silver knob of the oak wood, and just when she was about to turn the handle, a loud knock was heard through the other side.

For a split and concise second Tara expected and hoped, in eager anticipation and longing, that Willow would be on the other side of her door.

That when her hands squeezed the doorknob of her oak wood, and she promptly opened her entranceway, that her redheaded angel would be on the other side. The blonde’s heart skipped a beat, quietly anticipating something that probably would never come, at least not today.

Tara took another deep breath and braced herself, wanting nothing more than to lose herself into deep crimson depths, wanting nothing more than to see Willow once again. Being apart from the redhead was like being apart from herself and she needed to see her, a half hour was already too long.

Tara swiftly swung the door open and her heart unexpectedly dropped when it was Jarred who appeared at her doorway, the jovial and lively face of her auburn haired best friend grinning back at her, perky and full of joyful glee.

“Hey, Tare.” Jarred revealed a brown paper bag in his brawny hands, holding it up for Tara’s view. “I made lunch for you.” He stated in his best sing-sing voice, hopping a bit on his heels in keen excitement. “Ms. First day of school.” He teased.

“Hi, Jarred.” Tara sighed, trying to hide her disappointment. “What brings you here?” she asked her friend after a moment. “Checking to make sure that I was ready for school?” she teased. “You got lunch for me and everything.”

“Well, I wanted to say good luck, first and foremost…I waited until your father and brother left before I came knocking on your door.” He explained, his hand resting on the door frame of Tara’s entranceway. “What do you think of me dropping you to school today? It’s on my way to the college so I’d love to it.”

“Okay.” Tara sighed desolately; she wanted so much for it to be Willow on the other side of the door. For some reason her heart dropped when she saw that Jarred was there instead.

She didn’t know why she thought Willow would be there since they had never really discussed meeting each other on the first day of school other than when they got to the actual school grounds, but she imagined Willow sweeping her off her feet and driving her away through the sunset.

She watched too many movies.

“You all right, Tar?” Jarred tilted his head in concern as he walked deeper into the house. “I want to see a happy Tara.” He stated with a small concerned furrowed brow, he walked behind Tara and placed his hands onto the blonde’s shoulders and then kneaded it gently. “It’s the first day of school and everything.” He stated softly, his breath near her ear.

“Very big.” Tara nodded. “I just thought you were Willow, and I know that’s stupid because we agreed to meet at school but I just…”

“Let’s just go.” Jarred suggested, trying to convince Tara to ride with him. Little did the blonde know that Jarred had something special in mind for his friend and that involved Tara hopping into his car and him driving her away. “You’ll get to see Willow at school, and think about it…the sooner you get there, the sooner you see her.” He amended, trying to lie as best as he could. “A drive is good for you, besides no senior rides the bus, no cool senior that is.” He smiled.

Tara nodded but her eyes widened when she remembered that she had left her notebook on the kitchen counter in the other room. The blonde turned around and then rushed to get her note pad and then emerged into the living area once again. When Tara finally reached Jarred she saw her friend waiting patiently by the base of the door, wearing the weirdest and widest smile Tara has ever seen.

It unnerved her.

“You ready?” Jarred asked, his head tilted.

“I guess.” Tara nodded, and then took the few steps towards the closed door. When Tara reached the oak wood, Jarred took it upon himself to open the door for the blonde; nothing in his face gave away what was obviously outside.

Tara dipped her head and offered Jarred thanks for opening the door for her, she then looked forward and saw Jarred’s dark colored car in front of her cement driveway, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Tara silently and mutely headed to her friends car, Jarred followed close behind, the silver keys in his hand, he watched Tara the entire time, his sight never leaving those of the blonde’s.

“You know, Tar.” Jarred added conversationally, smiling a bit at the blonde’s obvious obliviousness. “You might be able to see Willow sooner than you think.” He added in a soft voice. “She might be here right now.”

Tara lifted her head. “What do you mean?” she asked Jarred, confused. “You mean at school?”

Jarred simply shook his head and then gently motioned to the car in the driveway. Tara turned her head to the direction of the vehicle, the blonde watched the car with a confused look before registering the fact that the back window of Jarred’s black Honda Civic was being slowly rolled down, and Jarred definitely wasn’t the one rolling it.

Tara continued to watch as the window rolled completely down and the smiling face of Willow suddenly appeared from the back of the automobile, waving at her with the largest and brightest smile on her face. After Tara’s brain registered that it was in fact Willow, Buffy suddenly popped her head out from the front seat and Xander from the other side of the back, all encouraging her along.

Willow stepped out of the car and simply smiled, her emerald orbs glimmering vividly under the Monday morning sunlight. Willow leaned onto the car, her arms over her chest in a coy and demure grin.

The notebook in Tara’s hand dropped to the floor, utterly forgotten as the blonde rushed to Willow and took her into her arms.

A kissed brought them together and deeper kisses followed.

“Hi.” Willow uttered softly. “Are you ready for school?”

“I am.” Tara nodded.

Later:

Willow and Tara were in the back seat, cuddled close together, stealing a few kisses here and there and giggling. Xander was beside them in the back, grinning like a fool as he watched the two girls kiss while Jarred and Buffy were in the front seat, their attention on the road. Jarred looked up at his rear view mirror and caught the reflection of Willow and Tara kissing and it brought a smile to his face, shaking his head; he turned back to the road.

“So…you guys looking forward to the first day of high school?” Jarred gently conversed, his hands gripped the steering wheel lightly. “The first day of being seniors and all of that?”

“Yeah we are!” Xander and Buffy both voiced simultaneously, a beaming grin on their faces.

Jarred gave them both a nod and a smile and then noticed that Willow and Tara hadn’t answered him, he glanced at this rear view mirror and took a quick peek at the girls in the back, the two of them still in a tender make out session. “Willow…Tara…?” Jarred raised his eyebrows and turned his head back momentarily so the two lovebirds could register that other people existed in the car, not just them. “Excited?”

“They’re excited all right.” Xander nodded enthusiastically, still staring at the two girls with sparkling pride. “My gosh, can you guys stop for air or do you have like hidden gills on there or something?” he joked, still smiling. “Like fish?”

“We don’t have gills, thank you very much.” Willow stated as she hesitantly broke free from Tara’s lips and turned to Xander. “But if we did… it wouldn’t work anyway because we’re not in water.” The intellectual side of her brain made an appearance. “So there!”

“Geeze, Will.” Xander shook his head, his eyes wide at Willow’s comeback. “Hostile much? I was just joking around.”

“So you girls excited?” Jarred asked the two girls again as he turned his head to the road once again, still taking quick glances at his mirror. “I never really had a good time in high school, so good luck on that.” He chuckled. “But I think being a senior makes things easier, you could pounce on those smaller than you.” He laughed again.

“I love school!” Willow exclaimed excitedly while her hands were tenderly holding onto Tara’s on her lap. “Buffy and Xander used to tease me a lot about it but I absolutely love school!” the redhead continued, oblivious to Tara’s amused stare at her excitement.

"You really loved that trapper keeper, huh?" Tara seemed majory amused that Willow was so enthusiastic as she described her precious school supply.

“I TOTALLY loved my trapper keeper, I put my different colored pens on those little tab thingies and I carried it around all the time.” She beamed brightly, grinning in happiness. “It was the best day.” She sighed and smiled again and then turned to her girlfriend, giving her a quick kiss.

“Tell him what was on your trapper keeper, Willow.” Buffy tried to stifle her laughter, but it didn’t work. “She had the same trapper keeper until the fifth grade, it was the funniest thing!” Buffy laughed again and then turned to Tara. “Willow was a huge geek!”

“You were a geek, Willow?” Tara seemed amused. “That’s hard to imagine, you with your sexy moves and everything.” She smiled.

“Hard to imagine this hot mama yamma came from geek infested roots?” the redhead grinned. “Well I did, and I part of me never left.”

“What kind of trapper keeper did you have?” Tara questioned softly, tilting her head.

“I had a ‘My little ponies’ trapper keeper.” Willow announced proudly, puffing out her chest. “I still have it now.” Willow blushed faintly and dug into her bag to show the gang that she had kept it all those years. “See?”

“Oh my god!” Buffy turned on her seat and then sunk into it. She burst out laughing even more, tears coming into her eyes. “You brought your pony trapper keeper to first day of school?” the blonde covered her mouth with her hands and laughed again and again. “Oh my god!”

Xander burst out laughing as well, leaning into the front passenger seat and sticking his head in between Jarred and Buffy. “You know what? I’m really starting to like this day.” He admitted, shaking his head. “It’s the best first day of school ever.”

Jarred, who was busy looking at the road ahead of him, had to stifle a smile, but he never turned his head.

“Can you guys stop laughing?” Willow huffed. “So I have a trapper keeper, so what?”

“Let me see, Willow.” Tara gently took the trapper keeper from Willow’s hands and quietly inspected it, smiling at the little animated figures on the cover. She softly traced the outline of the pink and white pony. “I think it’s cute.” Tara commented, her head lifting so she could meet Willow’s emerald gaze. “And the fact that you still have it makes you even cuter.” She leaned in and kissed Willow gently on the lips.

Willow stuck her tongue out to her two friends and then leaned in for another kiss.

After their kiss subsided, Willow pulled back. “You should have been there Tara. “She said. “Can you imagine the two of us with our trapper keepers, running around the hallways of the elementary school?” she smiled. “Do you know how much fun that could have been? We could share each others crayons, have matching animal cracker tin cans, share our jelly snacks over the cafeteria table—”

“Kissing in the bathroom.” Xander teased in a sing-song voice.

“Kissing in elementary school?” Willow scrunched up her face, frowning. “Even Tara and I wouldn’t be doing that.” She stated adamantly. “Would we Tara?” she asked the blonde eager for an answer.

“Maybe a small one.” Tara smiled. “On the cheek maybe?”

“You’d kiss me?” Willow looked surprised; she then burst into a beaming smile. “Where were you all my life?” she asked her girlfriend, smiling.

“Waiting for you.” Tara smiled softly, and then brought her hands into Willow’s, interlocking their fingers and then leaning her head down to kiss them. “I love you, Willow.” The blonde voiced quietly, their hands still tenderly entwined.

Willow looked at their joined hands and her heart skipped a beat. “You know I love you too, right?” she lifted her head and caught the blonde’s sapphire gaze. “And this whole school thing will be good for us because we get to see each other everyday.” She voiced. “And how great would it be if we had the same class together?”

“Everyday?”

Willow simply nodded, squeezing Tara’s hands more tightly into her own. “We’ll be like high school sweethearts.”

“I’d like that.” Tara nodded; she then brought her face closer to Willow’s and kissed her once again. “It’s my first time at this school so I’ll need all you guys help in working my way through everything.” She pointed out. “I’m glad you all are here.”

“No problem.” Xander hopped a bit in his seat. “We’re glad to have someone else in our group; it’s only been me, Buffy, and Willow for the longest time.”

“Yeah, Tara.” Buffy turned her head to the back and gave the blonde a small smile. “We’re glad you’re here too, and we’re also glad that we have Jarred here to drop us to school everyday.” She smiled at the dark-haired boy, winking. “Mom won’t let me touch her car and Willow failed her driving test about three times.”

“I was nervous!” Willow insisted. “The guy kept looking at me.”

“You took a wrong turn and headed to an incoming lane.” Buffy corrected.

“Willow?” Tara was suddenly concerned. “You drove into an incoming lane?”

“I ALMOST drove into an incoming lane.” Willow stressed. “Almost.”

“How could you almost drive into an incoming lane?” Tara was curious. “My goddess Willow, you could have been killed!”

“She also crashed into a parked car.” Xander added his part to the conversation.

Tara’s eyes widened.

“It came out of nowhere!” Willow defended.

“How could a parked car come out of nowhere?” Jarred questioned from the driver’s seat, his brow furrowed as he tried to figure that out. “Willow, are you really that bad?”

“Yes.” Buffy and Xander both said simultaneously.

“Baby, do you want me to teach you?” Tara turned to her girlfriend, squeezing her hand tighter. “I have my driver’s license and if you still have a driving permit I’m sure I can teach you.”

Willow lifted her head. “You’d do that?” her eyes were soft as she gazed into Tara’s azure depths. “You wouldn’t be afraid or anything?”

“I could never be afraid of you.” Tara voiced softly, she then leaned forward and planted a small, quick kiss onto Willow’s lips.

“Awww…” All the three friends teased, causing the to the girls blush.

“You guys kiss way too much.” Jarred shook his head in amusement. “Lucky I don’t have to see Xander and Buffy kiss that way.”

“Buffy and I kissed right after we graduated kindergarten.” Xander stated suddenly, filled with pride.

“You kissed Xander?” Willow turned to Buffy and glared at her, scrunching up her face in surprise. “How come it’s been twelve years and I’m only now hearing about this?” the redhead demanded, while Tara sat quietly beside her. Jarred was silent as well, still staring at the road. “Well?”

“Buffy didn’t want you to get jealous.” Xander admitted, his voice low and embarrassed, he chuckled a bit as he said those words. “If we knew you were a lesbian then…”

“Willow, I DID NOT kiss Xander.” Buffy turned in her seat, taking off her seatbelt so she could have a better view of the three in the back. “Xander is completely lying to you.” She insisted, shaking her head from side to side. “I wouldn’t have kissed him if he was the last boy on earth!” she cried out.

Xander just rolled his eyes, shaking his head.

“You remember Xander back then, he lifted the skirts of all the girls in our school, when we hit middle school he wore all the mirrors on his shoes and hats.” Buffy reminded the redhead. “He did that to one girl in sixth grade, she was never the same.”

“You’re the one that did that?” Willow asked in exasperation. “I didn’t know that!” she stated, Tara was still sitting quietly. “This is so typical. I'm always the last one to know everything.” She crossed her hands over her chest. “Always.”

Tara tried to comfort Willow, leaning into her and kissing her near the ear.

“No, you’re not.” Buffy insisted. “We tell you stuff.

“Yuh-huh! I was the last one to know when Xander got bitten by the flamingo at the zoo.” Willow pointed out. “I was the last one to know when you had a crush on Charlie freshmen year of high school; I was the last one to know about your kiss…”

“Okay, I get it.” Buffy sighed. “But I didn’t kiss Xander.”

“Excuse me?!” Xander leaned toward Buffy and gave her the most surprised look. “You totally kissed me!”

Buffy was exasperated, completely taken aback. “I did not kiss you!” Buffy maintained, her back was completely on the road as she kneeled on her knees and faced Xander. “I mean…Xander, where are you getting all this?”

“Buffy, can you put your seat belt on before we get pulled over.” Jarred turned to his left and pleaded with the blonde. “Or get a ticket.”

Buffy nodded and sat back down, belting herself in but turning to she could face Xander once more.

“Oh my god, Buffy.” Xander rolled his eyes. “It was right after we graduated, the whole class threw their hats into the air and you couldn’t find yours.” He stated carefully, so his friend could absorb it all. “You started crying so I gave you mine, and then you kissed me.” He said in a proud smile. “After that you told me not to tell Willow because she’d cry and get all jealous.”

Buffy frowned and tilted her head, trying to remember. Suddenly, her eyes widened telling the whole gang what Xander already knew.

“Remember now?” Xander lifted his eyebrows. “I know it was twelve years ago but you never forget a first kiss.”

“Okay, so I kissed you.” Buffy rolled her eyes and sighed. “That was so long ago that I didn’t even remember.” She persisted. “We were five years old for Christ’s sake! I would have kissed Willow if she had given me her hat, which she would have been there to do that if we were in the same class.”

“Okay!” Willow exclaimed, trying to shut her two friends up. “No more talking about kissing, no more kissing.” She babbled quickly. “Just…all of you shut up and say nothing.”

“But I—”

“Nope.” Willow cut Buffy off, shaking her head. “Not another word.”

“But Willow what if—”

“I said not another word.” Willow repeated calmly. “Let’s just enjoy the quiet until we reach school, I don’t want to hear you two argue about kissing, no teasing me about my trapper keeper, and no talk of my driving abilities, or lack thereof.” She stated matter of factly, standing her ground. “I just want peace.”

Buffy and Xander hadn’t said another word; they all just huffed in their seats. Jarred was happy for the peace and quiet, needing that silence so he could pay more attention on the road, and Tara was just content in sitting beside Willow.

A grin plastered Willow’s face as she still had the touch to control the group.

‘She’s definitely the butch.’ Tara thought in a smile. ‘My Willow.’

Fifteen minutes later:

“Okay, we’re here.” Jarred declared as he pulled into the parents/students drop off area, with four embarrassed students. It might not have been cool to ride the bus, but it also wasn’t cool to be dropped off in that section of the school, Xander’s pride was pretty much broken. “You guys take care huh?” he called out at the disappearing group, he caught Tara’s gaze and gave her a soft nod. “Bye, Tar.”

“Bye, Jarred.” Tara waved at her friend before he drove away.

“Okay, we’re seniors now.” Buffy let out a deep breath and turned to the rest of her friends. “We own this place, so everyone…walk like you own it and walk like you own everyone else.”

“What?” Willow gave Buffy a confused glance. “We don’t own anyone, Buffy.”

“I didn’t say that we owned anyone.” Buffy stressed, shaking her head and then turning to where the school was, about a five hundred feet away. “I just said that we should act like we do.” She clarified strongly, turning back to make sure everyone understood. “So, everyone…including you, Tara…” Buffy let out another breath deep breath and turned around once more. “All of us just…act like we own this school, and act good.”

“I think that’s a great idea!” Xander exclaimed, he then dug into his bag and pulled out a leather jacket. “I brought this for effect.” He showed his dark colored leather jacket to Buffy and the rest of the gang. “I know it’s kind of stupid but…”

“I brought one too!” Buffy stated in a smile, she reached into her bag and pulled out her jacket, showing it to Xander. “Now, this is really going to work.” She voiced adamantly, then turned to Willow and Tara who didn’t have any jackets. Buffy gave them a worried look but quickly recovered. “You two will just blend with us.” She voiced adamantly. “Don’t worry about it.”

“We kinda…” Willow started but Buffy and Xander didn’t hear a word of it, they were both busy putting on their jackets as they turned around and prepared themselves, they were going to be the cool ones for a change.

“Okay, everyone…” Buffy inhaled a breath and prepared to do her rehearsed walk. “Let’s go.” She stated and then began to stride forward, slow and deliberate steps, acting like they owned the place. Xander was right beside Buffy, doing his own walk as well, leather jackets and all.

“Let’s not follow them?” Tara turned to Willow and met her emerald eyes.

“Agreed.” Willow nodded.

Willow took Tara’s hands into her own, their tender palms and fingers entwining together gently. The couple began walking towards the school and as they neared the students the girls immediately felt something else… trepidation, unease, and paranoia. A few kids were looking at them strangely, just a few, just two dim-witted kids, but two was enough for their minds to think that everyone was watching them. Their minds were playing tricks.

Willow and Tara were still holding hands and they did continue walking.

Willow took a deep breath and squeezed Tara’s hands once more. “Forget them.” Willow voiced adamantly. “Just forget them.” She said again.

“It's kinda hard to do that." Tara said softly, but held on.

"They can't judge us." Willow convictions were strong. "I don't want to have to hide at home and then do the same at school." she uttered calmly. "Just keep walking, unless you feel uncomfortable..."

"I don't want to either." Tara shook her head, squeezing Willow's hand tighter. "But we don't need to prove anything, whether we hold hands or not." she assured her girlfriend, loosening their hands a bit, uneasy.

Willow faced Tara, her eyes soft. "Do you want to hold my hand?" she gently asked. "For us, not them."

"Yes." Tara nodded honestly.

Willow smiled and took Tara's hand back into her own, a rush of confidence filling through her. "Then let's go." she stated in a small smile.

Tara smiled back and the two continued walking.
