Stumbled upon this article(The Advocate site) :

Buffy creator gives kudos to the WB for handling of lesbian subplot
Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was laudatory toward the WB network in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter when asked how the network dealt with the introduction of a lesbian relationship between supporting characters Willow and Tara. Whedon notes, “We did it for 10 episodes before they even knew about it. It was all metaphor. We have witchcraft as a metaphor for [Willow] expanding her sexuality. Among the executives, there was some consternation. They raised an eyebrow, but they’ve been great.” When it came time to have the characters kiss on the show, Whedon adds, “to the network’s credit, they not only aired it, but they did not advertise it. I thought that was pretty classy.”

they not only aired it, but they did not advertise it.

One of the best things about The Body was how unexpected and wonderful this was. I can imagine how things would have been had this been given the hype treatment.

about time... i complained about the lack of coverage weeks ago...

anyways, good to know they finally found the w/t-storyline and all worth mentioning (they are writing about "queer as folk" and "will & grace" constantly anyway)!

Hopey, do you know that Magazine from São Paulo, "Um Outro Olhar"? As far as I know (I haven't read the last issue yet), they have never mentioned W/T. Isn't that amazing? And they're always talking about Xena. It's like an obssession!!!

I love this magazine, but I would love to read something about W/T in it, because this kind of lesbian relationship was never portrayed by any Brazilian tv show (as you must know; the far we got was Laís and Cecília in "Vale Tudo", do you remember?) and I would like to know the readers' reaction to it when they saw such a beautiful relationship between two women in a "teen" show.

*boucnes on the applause couch*...that's great 'The Body' didn't get hyped(remeber Party of Five with Neve Campbell's character getting hyped...and all for nothing ...
