The Hollywood Reporter's Buffy Tribute Edition

Postby BBOvenGuy » Fri May 25, 2001 10:28 am

The Hollywood Reporter ran a special issue commemorating the 100th Buffy episode this week. A list of the ads that were in the issue has been making the internet rounds - I'm surprised it hadn't turned up here yet, so here ya go! I got it from Willow's Puppy over at HDC. Note that there's a link at the bottom which tells you how you can get your own copy.

HOLLYWOOD REPORTER TRIBUTE

For those of you that weren't able to pick up a copy, the special HOLLYWOOD REPORTER issue commemorating the 100th episode was really cool, as much for the ads as the content. You can order a copy of the issue directly from the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER using the instructions at the URL below, and you'll get…

* A cover with a b&w Buffy and tons of quotes from critics lauding the show's quality. Sponsored by 20th Century Fox Television.

* A front inside cover sponsored by UPN. "Congratulations on your First 100 Episodes from the Network that is the home of your Next 100.

* "Slay Anything" content produced by the REPORTER staff.

* An ad from Joss. "At long last, and to everyone's great relief, words fail me. (Pic of Joss in Buffy cap, looking down.) Thank you for everything." With a long list of people to thank, and a note to Paul. "You're fired."

* A bronze-colored (gettit? Bronze?) ad sponsored by United Talent Agency in honor of their BUFFY associated clients: Joss, Fury, DeKnight, MT, Alexis D., Tucker Gates, Seth Green, Elin Hampton, Ty King, Nick Marck, David Semel and Dan Vebber.

* A "Congratulations Sarah" ad from Barnes, Morris, Klein & Yorn, Law Firm, presumably Sarah's lawyers.

* An ad from Aly. "To all the Crew and Cast Members of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' -- THANK YOU. Thank you and I love you, Alyson Hannigan."

* An ad from International Creative Management congratulating SMG (presumably SMG's agent is at ICM) and the rest of the cast and crew on their 100th episode.

* An ad from Artists Management Group congratulating SMG on 100 fantastic episodes. "With Love, JoAnne and All Your Friends at AMG."

* An ad from SMG. "Thank you to everyone who has helped make one hundred great episodes of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer.'"

* An ad from David Fury, Jane Espenson, Doug Petrie, Rebecca Kirshner and Steve DeKnight. "Joss, In each generation, there is a Chosen One… Thank you, Your Creamy Coolness, for allowing us to bask in your luminous genius and play a part in your mythology. Love, Worship and Congratulations on 100 (Plus 44)! Your Writer Minions."

* An ad from Dark Horse offering congrats.

* An ad from Moore Action Collectibles offering congrats.

* An ad from Booh Schut Company congratulating Sarah. "Wishing you much love, happiness and continued success."

* An ad from MT. "To Joss, Sarah, Our Amazing Producers, Directors, Writers, Cast and Crew: Congratulations on 100 exhilarating hours of television! The 'Key' to great slaying is having good friends. I am honored to be a part of the 'Buffy' family. Love, Michelle Trachtenberg."

* An ad from Studio Fan Mail Tamkin Color.

* The fan ad.

* An ad from John Vulich & Optic Nerve Studios, Inc. "Congratulates Joss Whedon on 100 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and five great years of making monsters together."

* An ad from maker of the special contact lenses for the cast. (?) "To Joss, Gareth, Marti, John P., Marc, Todd & John V. All eyes are on you! Thanks for letting us do yours. Congratulations on 100 episodes. Dr. Jonathan Gording, Sean & Staff."

* An ad from director/producer James Contner. "Joss, Congratulations on your first 100 episodes. Also to Gareth, Marti, David, the Writers, Cast, Crew and Staff. Thanks for all your wonderful work and support. It's an honor to be a part of the team. Special thanks to my favorite Slayer, Sarah. Looking forward to 2 more years of slaying. With Love and Appreciation, Jim Contner."

* An ad from LiveWire Studios, formerly Todd Studios West.

* An inside back cover from David Greenwalt, Marti Noxon and Tim Minear. "Numfar, We do the Dance of Joy (picture of Numfar) on this your 100th episode. With love & gratitude, David, Marti & Tim."

* A back cover from Sandy Gallin, Dolly Parton, Fran Rubel Kuzui, Kaz Kuzui and Gail Berman.

Oh my god april, I saw Numfar tonight and almost wet myself laughing. In fact, I lost most of that scene because I was watching him dance in the background. Phooey to the actual *plot* I say...

And wouldn't the contact lenses be for the vamps or something? Or when Willow's eyes went black? Or just to enhance their natural (or unnatural) eye colour?

Thanks Bob. I'd love to see the Numfar ad although I have to say UPN's "the Network that is the home of your Next 100" had me smiling too.

I'm sure someone will scan the Numfar ad sooner or later.

Paula, Numfar is the silly-dancing relative of The Host who was played by Joss in a recent Angel episode. He stole the show!

Sandy Gallin + Dolly Parton = Sandollar Productions. I'm fairly certain I've seen that SG or Sandollar has a producing credit on BTVS, but I've just gotten up, I may be slightly off.
