Well, mine was totally fine for about 3 or 4 months, but then, during a fun little make-out session, my eyebrow got bumped and irritated, and it started to go downhill from there. I ended up taking it out about 7 months after I'd gotten in done. It's hard to say what your body will do. As long as you keep it clean after you first get it, and then are careful about it afterwards, you're probably fine. The only people I've met with eyebrow piercings have eventually had to take them out, but sometimes after a few years, not as soon as I did.
Willowlicious, you're never too old for tatoos! It's your body, you can do whatever you want to it, whenever you want! Go for it! As for the pain thing, there are certain parts of the body that are more painful (base of the spine, ankle - places with less flesh), so just pick someplace that will hurt less. Mine's in the small of my back (base of the spine, one of the most painful places), but I found that it didn't so much hurt as it was just an annoying feeling, like someone poking you with a sharp fingernail over and over again. And when you get them done on your spine, it sort of makes your whole spine vibrate ... But once they're done inking the tatoo, that's it, no more pain!
