My mother once left a cup of grease from a frying pan on the counter and my cat ate all of it.

that's about as disgusting as it's gotten for me.

Sadly...I have no cats.:sigh I have...well...had 3 dogs...all of which were destructive little buggers. They would work together to break into our fenced-in garden...going right for the grape vines and rasperry bushes. There are also many stories of dinner disappearing off of the counter...namely chicken. Most recent story, my moose of a dog ripped open a metal shed in my parents' back yard...right where it was riveted, all because a prarie dog somehow got in there. Needless to say, everything inside was ripped to shreds. And then they go and give ya the sad puppy eyes when you see what they've done. :eyebrow :sigh

It goes without saying, of course, that my cats love catnip. But my dog loves catnip just as much.

The absolute worst thing about cats or dogs puking anything up is when, in the time it takes you to go get whatever you need to clean it up...it vanishes. :(

That's my kitty man over there on the left. He's a bad, bad boy and he knows it. I love him. My other cat, she is the sweetest, purest creature on Earth. She always has one whisker that turns up instead of down. Just the one. It's a well-established fact at my house that she's in charge.

My cats are both about ten years old and they've been everywhere I've been. (It's fun driving across the desert in August with no air conditioning and two cats! Go ahead, try it!) I cannot contemplate life without them.

Please think twice before feeding your pets IAMS/Eukanuba foods. They kill cats and dogs in so-called nutritional research.

Ah cats, I have two Mercedes who is 13 yrs old, and I stray who will have her one year anniversary with us at the end of November named Precious. Basically they barely tolerate each other, and because Precious the "vacuum cleaner" (who will eat anything to the point I believe will literally burst one day soon), I need to feed them separately.

Mercedes who thinks he is "King", with Precious the ungodly "serf", will only eat on his throne, which is the box for my Direct TV satellite dish. So anytime he is hungry he will give you this look, and actually "talk" to make sure you know it's time to eat. While this is going on Precious will give him her "evil death stare" on my bed, (because she knows not to go on his "throne"), and as soon as he gives his wiggle with his foot (to indicate he is done eating), she will pounce on the floor to finish his leftovers.

Also they both sleep with me, Mercedes (a Siamese) loves the heat, and in cold weather must sleep under the covers between my legs. Precious on the other hand, loves to sit on top of him, which of course causes mayhem. As for Precious, I also call her my "kitty scarf" because for most of the night she will sleep under my chin, I barely can breathe (but I am sure she is quite comfortable). Also this cat his a wicked tail, and just loves to hit people with it when she feels she isn't getting enough attention.

But I do love my "kitty children", as one can see with my rambling on this subject :) !

Well, I don't have a funny story, but I do have a weird cat. She drools. Like a dog. Worse probably. She's always got these long strings of drool like a Saint Bernard and when you pet her she makes big bubbles that plop all over you. Its thoroughly disgusting, but our vet told us not to worry, its just a sign of affection. Why couldn't she just bring me dead mice like a normal cat? Oh, well, she makes up for it with sixth sense that always knows when I'm coming home from college so she waits by the driveway for me to pick her up and take her up the long road to the house. My parents say she only does that for me. Makes me feel all special.

I know I know, replying a little late but here's my cat stories.

My original three cats were, Hannah, Tigger and Sybill. Sybill was well named, since she used to love to be petted, then she'd bite you and go back to wanting to be petted. She was around 22 when we finally put her down.

Julia, I have a Kitten/Turkey story for you. One thanksgiving, hannah, who was a huge orange stripped cat, managed to get herself up on the counter, where the thanksgiving turkey was and procceded to chomp a whole right through the thing. My mom carved it anyways and didn't tell anyone.

And as for cats being sick, I recently moved into my own apartment, away from my current three cats, Ben, Jake and Gabrielle.

Ben has been sick and in and out of the vet throwing up, and they still don't know whats wrong.

Of course Gabrielle was supposed to be my cat, since I named her after the charachter from Xena, but she turns out to be more my mothers. It took her about three years to actually want me to pet her. Go figure.

Anyways, movin on to the daily thread.

When Corky (aka Melissa aka Triscuit7) and I first moved into our own place together, we brought her cat Medea up from West Virginia. When Medea felt it was time for us to get up, she would stalk into the bedroom and bat at the window shade until it snapped up (loudly), a rather rude awakening.

Someone suggested shooting water pistols at her would teach her not to do that, so we took to keeping two water pistols on the nightstands. Medea would raise the shade, we would sit up in bed and shoot the water pistols at her. She didn't learn not to hit the shade. What she learned to do was hit the shade until it snapped up and run like hell.

We now have three cat: MacBeth, Magdalen, and Morrigan (sensing a pattern here?). Maggie has her own method for waking me up in the morning (just me - apparently she doesn't believe Corky will really get up and feed her). She French-kisses me. It's my own fault - I was teaching her to "give me a kiss" on command, and she extrapolated. So now she hops up next to my face, pries the covers away if necessary, and gives me a big wet one. I have to concede, it's pretty effective.

She knows she's not allowed to eat the other cats' food until they're finished, so she wolfs hers down and then sits behind MacBeth sort of wiggling from side to side waiting for him to walk away.
