Banshee, I almost feel like a schmuck for saying this, but you [i:577a622f8a] write really well.[/i:577a622f8a] I think your story, read by student drivers, might be far more influential than those Godawful videos.

Take care of yourself, and your friends. You and the cyclist will be in my prayers.

GG [i:577a622f8a] Thank heaven for seatbelts![/i:577a622f8a] Out

Shannon, glad your okay. Un-okay-ness is bad for any of you.

Other comment: I checked the board just now and saw this thread, and promptly thought "Isn't it Tuesday yet? Where's the new one?" I'm so bored, I have nothing to do this summer vacation.

Here in Los Angeles, we're having a partial solar eclipse right now. It's freaky. I'd seen a news report on it a few days ago, but it wasn't until I heard them talking about it on the radio that I realized why it was getting dark so quickly outside.

Is anyone else in the eclipse zone?

It's funny. I remember the last solar eclipse we had in North America. It was when I was a teenager, and I remember the news people saying it was North America's last solar eclipse of the century. When I realized we were having an eclipse just now, the first thing I thought was, "But there aren't going to be any more eclipses this century..." Then I remembered that we're in a different century now.

Thank you guys so much. I know I haven't been around here and posting much--but, fuck, when I needed it, the board was here. I cannot, nor do I think I will ever, express exactly how much I needed a blank slate to write that. To purge it from my body. So, again, thank you---it has given me some sort of solace for the moment.

I can still remember all the fuzz for the eclipse we had in Europe a while ago. Granted, it was cool. Even wrote a poem about it /chuckle/

apparently it hit HK about 6.30 this morning. I was up, given that there was a massive thunderstorm dropping about 30mm of rain (thats a bit over an inch) between 6-7 (its still going, just less thunder). However, as its almost pitch black (10.30am) I will pretend its due to the eclipse.

I happened to be in Italy during the solar eclipse in Europe a couple years back. We didn't even know about it until that day. Our professor almost didn't let us out to go see it (I was taking some pre-studying at the university italian classes).

But back in high school there was an almost full one that was really good over Illinois and the whole school was buzzing about it and the science classes were doing things, and they set up some special video camera to catch it and my french teacher almost wouldn't let us out of class to go look (my high school had no windows in the classrooms ... somebody thought that would be a good idea)

eclipses are neat :)

[b:684293b90a] Banshee[/b:684293b90a], I'm glad you're okay. Sorry that happened. :(

Naturally, after being sunny all day here in Michigan, it clouded over by the time of the eclipse. Better luck in 2005!

GG [i:3c3bbb893e] I remember the eclipse back in High School (~1978): the school handed out mylar strips (for solar viewing) like they were precious, instead of being available in candy wrappers like it is today![/i:3c3bbb893e] Out

Got my firs paycheck today! now this might not be much but since I haven't had a steady job in 8 months, it's huge to me:) My girly is recouping nicely from being very sick, she's a real trouper:)

After stagnating offensively for the last 3 weeks or so, the M's finally found their bat in a 10-0 shutout of the St. Louis Cardinals. Ichiro was a home run away from the cycle and had 2 RBI's. The star performer of the day, however, was Starting Pitcher Jamie Moyer. He pitched a complete game shutout allowing only 5 hits while striking out 5 and walking none. He improved his record to 6-2.

Thanks for the update Eric. With the Yankees winning the series against the Giants my friends were thrilled, and kept saying the M's were having trouble beating the Cubs. So at least the 10 runs hopefully indicates they are starting to hit again. Too bad Ichiro didn't hit for the cycle, but I am looking forward to see if he can hit for 4.00 batting average.

Ichiro is inching his way closer and closer to .400. He's currently at .373, so it's possible. And whenever your friends tell you that the M's are sucking, just remind them that those darn M's swept them in their own house the last time they met.
