DO NOT POST - BACKUP IN PROGRESS

Curve Magazine

Postby hellcat » Tue Nov 19, 2002 8:39 am

I received my latest Curve magazine last night and there was a short article about who has turned down interviews for the mag. To my surprise, both Amber and Aly have turned the magazine down. I found this a little surprising since Curve is a lesbian magazine only and it would be a good way for them to reach their fans. I for one would love to see the two of them on the cover of Curve and do the interview together.

Any thoughts?

This sounds very familiar. I read something like this on the kitten quite a while ago. There was an explanation or at least a good suggestion which explained it. Now if only I could remember so this post would actually have a point. [img:06f8b947af]http://www.gamers-forums.com/smilies/ups/mtk/badteeth.gif[/img:06f8b947af]

maybe the offer came at a time when they were inundated with requests, (it must be a pain in the butt doing interviews about the same thing all the time!!), or maybe it was when they were trying to keep a low profile and not get involved after the tara=dead backlash??? dunno.

sure there's a good enough reason though.

I knew I had seen something about it around here...

I bought this magazine for the first time today, because I wanted to know more about Earthlings (they have the girls from the show on the cover) and I was also surprised with this, but I'm sure they had their reasons.

What surprised me most though, was what they wrote as Aly's publicist's answer to their request: "It's not really clear that her character is a lesbian, anyway." They said that the publicist allowed that Willow is indeed lesbian later.

If this is true, this person surely needs a big wake up call. Or maybe, to find another job... :spin

I said it somewhere else , Curve never had a kind word for Tara. And I am sure that quote is from early season 4. Someone else also said if they didn't get Aly or Amber it is because they didn't try hard enough.

On the topic of Curve, I ran across this Advocate article where Sinead O'Connor says that Curve misquoted her re: her coming out and then hyped it to sell magazines:

www.advocate.com/html/sto...sinead.asp

Advocate:
It was reported about a year and a half ago that you made a statement in the gay press declaring that you were a lesbian. Will you tell us exactly what you said and what your intention was?

O'Connor:
I think it might have even been an interview for The Advocate? [Editors note: It was for Curve.] I dont remember exactly, but this woman reporter asked why did I think lesbians liked me so much or why was I so popular with lesbians, and I said it was probably because they thought I was one of them, meaning that I dont believe in gay or straight and I dont believe love is conditional. But obviously the reporter ran with it and the paper hyped it, because it probably sold a lot of issues, and, really, I was quite happy for them to do that. I didnt mind. I think [the gay press] should do whatever they can to sell as many papers as anybody else
