Firstly I want to say wow to $5227 raised so far by all the kitties. That is amazing. I always like to change things to AUS dollars so it is more meaningful and I can't believe we've raised nearly 10 grand with more still to come.

I'd also like to say a huge thank-you to Xita, Webwarlock, Rally and anyone else who was involved in organising this charity and the auction. I'll use a cliche which is less offensive than the dead/evil lesbian cliche and say it couldn't have been done without you. An extra big thank-you to Webwarlock for hosting my stuff on his ebay site and for being extremely helpful and patient. By the way I'm now addicted to ebay.

I was wondering... is that support-phone-number call-able from all states ? I know some states are...well... rather backwards with regard to anything approaching gay/lesbian love.

and since people in those states likely need support most I was wondering if the actually CAN call the line from their state. For some reason I can just imagine some holier-then-thou people pressuring phone-companies and such, grrrr...

i just donated via pay pal and i hope i did it the right way so that you didn't get charged a fee!!
i am not very techno-savvy and when i'm on the board from home my web browser (or it's settings or something) sometimes wipes off parts of pages so sometimes i miss huge hunks of threads or info pages. it sucks! (anyone have advice on how to fix that prob, btw?)
because of the weird blank partial pages i missed the info on how to avoid the fee --if they charged you i feel just horrible!

regardless---huge hugs and thanks to the mods and the kitties for being such generous folk and for being a positive force in the midst of this scary time...

The Trevor helpline is described as a national 24-hour toll-free helpline (an 800 number) so Im sure young people in every state could reach it at any time, regardless of their location or service provider. A phone company cant single out certain 800 numbers and refuse service to them, so anyone should be able to get through.

If youre saying that the browser loads an incomplete page, hit reload/refresh and see if you get a complete page on the second try. Or try hitting reload/refresh while holding down the Ctrl key to force the browser to ask for a new page from the server (rather than retrieving the incomplete page from your cache). Or empty your browser cache and try the web page again. Or make sure you have designated enough memory for your cache in your browser settings. Or compare the settings on your work browser to your home browser. Or maybe try upgrading your home browser. Okay, I think I just ran out of ideas.

It is wonderful to see the total climb. I just wanted to add that I was talking to the director of the women's studies program at a research university recently, and we got onto the subject of Buffy and the cliche; I actually try to avoid this subject when I talk to people I am not sure I can trust, but in this case...it just happened.

Anyway, I was telling her a little about the Kitten board, and she was saying that it sounded wonderful but that she wished all that energy could go into something with a real-world impact. (Okay, let's not get into the fact that just posting or even just reading here itself in fact HAS an impact, which I think it does).

But I was able to say, proudly, that in addition to all the letter writing and essay writing and representation and intervention that Kittens do and try to do, they raised a bunch of money for a real-world organization with real-world impact.

And she was impressed by that. And I continue to be, every day.

What a wonderful place this is. I love it. Thanks to those who are doing the hard work of collecting all our money and stuff and making it go to the right people.

As the fundraiser finish up in it's final weekend I can't help but be proud of what everyone on this board has been able to come together and do. Hopefully we can take the spirit of this fundraiser and bring it in to our daily lives.

It just goes to show how much good a small group of people can do.

Despite the pain the end of season seven caused fans I guess things sometimes happen for a reason. If the cliche hadn't been met then perhaps we never would have banded together to help such a wonderful charity.

And maybe as a memory of what season 6 meant to us, and in an our ability to remember the world has a long way to go. perhaps the kittens make this a yearly fund drive?

i had tried the reloading thing to no avail and then i discovered that if i select all, copy and paste into an aol untited document, then i can actually read all the text! of course i still miss all the avatars and pics and emoticons.

but now i will try the other options and hopefully one will work!
