I still have some money to send in from my auctions - unfortunately, while I was trying to amend my credit card info on my online payment account, I wiped it instead and it's taken several days to get it back. I also have some money due from another magazine that I auctioned on eBay which wasn't part of the official auction. Sorry to be so slow - technology was conspiring against me. Hopefully it should all be sorted within the next few days, and then I'll send it in - there's no problem with it not being part of the official total.

After a bit of brain storming, maudmac and I had decided that we wanted to give something to Amber and we thought the best thing we could do was show her how much we appreciated her performance of Tara and how much the loss of w/t had prompted us to action. We figured a certificate would be the best way to show her that. Maudmac worked hard to get these ready in time. Thanks Holley! And thanks to all the kitties who made this donation possible.

Here's a bit I posted in the Chance thread, about the certificates.

[i:e1078f51b6] At one point, I was outside and I noticed Diane wasn't surrounded, so I introduced myself. She remembered Amber being told about the Trevor Project. She was amazed and so happy about what we did and how much money we raised. I told her we'd like to give Amber the certificate and that we had one for Aly, too, if someone could see that she gets it.

This was so awesome. By now, a handful of us were talking with her. We talked about Trevor, about homophobia, about how important it was to us to DO something with our pain and anger. The Bensons get it.

Diane said to meet them at WorkPlay (where many of the Sidewalk events occurred) the next morning at 11 and they would absolutely be there. They made time for us. It was amazing. Amber was genuinely touched by it. We talked a bit more about how we wanted to put our money where our mouth is, that we wanted to help kids who had nowhere else to turn.

They didn't have long to chat, but Amber signed a few things and let us take some photos.

Words like awesome, amazing, and fantastic just don't convey how great it was. Amber knows where we're coming from.[/i:e1078f51b6]

We've done a good thing, and we owe ourselves a pat on the back. But I also hope that we can continue to keep The Trevor Project in mind, and spread the word about what a worthwhile cause it is.

Hey, we just got back from Birmingham.

Yeah, Amber was exhausted and a bit over-extended given all the events,etc. that she attended during SWF.

I also want to take the time to officially thank Tim (webwarlock). We would not have been able to pull this off without his help. From making the initial contact, through maitaining the web pages, dealing with paypal (brr). He has been a rock. He's done everything I have asked of him and more! And now today I got a package from him which included the check with the pay pal money. And closure is now coming and I wanted to say:

It says "representatives from the Kitten Board are to present a check to the organization that runs the only national crisis hotline for gay, lesbian and questioning youth on September 24." I was just wondering how that went? Thanks!

Well that was a date I added to get something up.

I can tell you this, in talking with Jorge Valencia of the Trevor project that they are overcome with our donation. They could not be happier.

He went on to remind me that [b:0db5e31fbe] this money is going to save lives[/b:0db5e31fbe]. Not going to pad some CEO's pocket or get dumped into ad campaign to get to bigger dollars, but it is going right to work in paying the bills of running an organization.

We expect to get their offical annoucement by the end of the week. We will have their offical press release and they will have the money.

we did a fundraiser for Trevor with Alex Tydings from Xena, but didn't raise anywhere near what you all came up with..
