Oh I can but dream of being a troll hammer :) and with my posting rate being about 2 posts a month it could take a while:grin

Troll Hammer was a good level, as was Big Knowledge Woman and Lesbo Street Cred, my favorite though is Miss Psycho Pep Squad. My most disliked are these fishy ones and thankfully I am all most off this fishy one.

Hmm, I don't think I could ever pick a favorite level. Heh, not that I have that many, but I'm thinking positively so shh. Seems like each level has it's own charm.

I hope everyone has a better day today.

I am quite partial to "Vixen" and "Big Knowledge Woman", as I feel that both of those terms accurately describe me. :wink However, I've pretty much given up hope of ever reaching anything beyond "Sassy Eggs." I spend waaaay too much time on this board as it is and I don't seem to be advancing very quickly. Darn these lurker tendencies.

As far as feeling better ..... well, I probably won't be doing that today. I'll be working nonstop over the next week because my boss asked me for a demo of my work next Wednesday, and I'd like to keep him from finding out that I haven't done ANYTHING. Not cause I was a slacker, but because I just got ..... I dunno .... burnt out. After the first year of grad school I kinda shut down and took a break, and now summer's over and I haven't done the stuff that I was supposed to. So I might be in big trouble. anyway, that's my Crisis Of The Week. I'm trying to not let it get me down.

Oh this is a good question. As someone who lurked for so long whichever I have just changed to is a personal fave :)

Thinking back to the Novogate days though where the avatar changed with the level I was always partial to Willowhand and that picture of Tara at that moment.

That smile... wow.

So I will say Willowhand.

Big Pineapple was the avatar with them on the roof though? I liked the idea of being a big pineapple and I love looking at the stars on a clear night so that level and that name also appealed.

Nah - still liking Willowhand. ;)

This time next week I will be running around realising what I have not got for the trip to Birmingham (Alabama not the middle of the UK!) and Chance. I tried running around now to figure that out but it does not seem to work the same.

Posting level?

Vixen would be my preference, 'cause I'd like to be one in RL.

And, Friskylez, is today the big 48? If so, a very happy birthday to you!:party

Hmmmm..... I would have to say that I am also partial to Vixen and Big Knowledge Woman. :)

Emma - congrats on the baby! Hope she and your friend are both doing well today. :grin

Friskylez - Happy Birthday!

Congrats on the new niece Indygo!

Finally, I just have to comment that when I looked at the date on the thread it threw me for a second... *laugh* I was like, December? I really have been out of it lately!!! :)

Have a good day kitties. Hugs!

Being a lurker who has only just hit Floating Rose, I have to say that I'm looking forward to Flaming O.

That being said who could resist a little Willowhand :wink

PS Does anybody else have cats who refuse to do anything but sit right on top of your keyboard when you're trying to type.

Nix,

Yes about cats on the keyboard. One of mine loves to crawl all over the computers if she thinks she's not getting enough attention. And she's a large cat (14 pounds), so she really gets in the way.

But, of course, I stop whatever I'm doing and give her lots of attention, because I'm a total animal-slave.

Pipsqueak, if you read this, I am wincing in sympathy. I've got two weeks of complete hell work coming to me... I relocated from the East Coast to California with my husband, even though I'm not defending my dissertation until November, and I was supposed to be writing my thesis while I was here. Well, I'm heading back to the university at the end of this month to tie up loose ends, and you guessed it, I haven't gotten much done. What with the moving, and the new place, and the house hunting and unpacking and trying to find a job in this crap economy. And to be perfectly honest, there was also the procrastinating. :( So I am right there with you with the crazy push to not look like a slacker. Keep the faith, sista! :)

Re. posting levels, I won't be able to do much about it until I get some school-oriented writing done, but I aspire to "Vixen" and "Big Knowledge Woman." I admit that "Flaming O" also has its charms. :)

There was me thinking it was just me that was that so soft but to stop whatever I'm doing and play with the cats.

I have 2, one of which of a bit on the large size - I swear he's going to break the keyboard one of these days. In the last hour he's sat on the keyboard, chased and eaten some kind of huge fly and then passed a hairball ... mind you I've just discused the Pens (Tommo's Final Exam), and nothing is gonna distract me from that!

Happy Birthday, Linda!

I don't think that I have a favorite, but I know my least favorite was Flaming O, as I was there for a very long time, I felt, and was getting tired of it.

But I think that the mods came up with such great names, it was always a pleasure to see a new one once a week, which I was worried would be the one downside of Ruth's new position. But it's all ok now! :D

I wanna be a Hot Mama Yama :cry

And a great big happy birthday to Linda! :party If you were on the Left Coast, we'd have a big kitten-fest to celebrate and maybe finish off with a nice trip to the beach to watch the sunset and then build a bonfire. Instead of telling ghost stories, Xita could read smutty stories from Pens interjecting her own brand of sound effects (as in moans, groans, gasps, rapid exhaling, rapid inhaling, sultry murmurs). ;)

I was watching Bargaining during my breakfast this morning and noticed something for the first time. In the scene where Xander and Willow are in the woods, after the demon bikers have broken up the resurrection ritual, Willow is leaning against a tree talking to Xander about the urn of Osiris. Through most of the scene, Willow's dress is pulled down off of both her shoulders so we have a lovely view of her collarbone and bare shoulders. The way the scene is lit, when they pull in for closeups of Willow, you can actually see all the freckles on her right shoulder. :hmm I sat there replaying the scene over and over trying to count the freckles. It was quite captivating.

Needless to say I was late to work this morning. Naughty me. :blush

Postby BBOvenGuy » Thu Sep 12, 2002 5:14 pm

Okay, so here's how my job interview went today.

I arrive at this guy's office, and the first thing he does is hand me a clipboard with a sheet of paper on it and ask me to answer the question printed on the paper, so he can have a sample of my spontaneous writing ability. The question is, "What is it that makes this country Great?" Yes, the "G" in "Great" really was capitalized. This was warning bell number one.

After a few minutes, I finally get to sit down and talk to the guy. Now, when a Hollywood producer is putting a new TV show together and looking for writers, the standard operating procedure is to call the writer in and tell the writer what the show is about. The writer then thinks up a number of story ideas and "pitches" them back to the producer. I've never actually done this, but nevertheless after five minutes of being interviewed I realized that I knew the procedure better than this guy did. It went something like this:

Me: So can you tell me what the show is about?
Him: Well, not really. It's sort of going to be like "Law & Order," but set in the Philippines.
Me: So you want your format to be like "Law & Order?"
Him: Well, I'm not sure yet. It might be more like "The Untouchables."
Me: Well, do you have any recurring characters established?
Him: Well, not yet. We're still working on that.

You get the idea. At this point I'm wondering what he heck I'm doing there, or what any professional writer would be doing there, because this guy is giving me absolutely nothing to work with. He hasn't even been to the Philippines, so I have no idea how he's made enough contacts to believe this venture is even possible.

Anyway, from there it was pretty much a case of trying to figure out how to make the interview long enough for us both to save face. This guy isn't even planning to pick his writing staff until February (again making me wonder what I was doing there), so I think I can arrange to be busy by then.

Despite the disastrous nature of the interview, I came out of it feeling much better about myself and the decisions I've made - especially the one where I gave up Hollywood a few years ago. To make matters better, I had an email from the guy at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory waiting for me when I got home. Nothing more than a brief "we haven't forgotten about you" message, but it was the first time I'd actually heard from the guy I've been trying to contact and not from his assistant. Plus now I get to write him back. :)

[b:bdc9377d6f] Elianna[/b:bdc9377d6f] Heck yes we can always pretend. Or we could make it a monthly event in which we celebrate all the kitten birthdays that month even if said kittens are in absentia. Of course we would have to get Xita on board. :hmm What do you think our chances are of convincing Xita to sit around reading smut and moaning and groaning? :hmm I'm thinking Xita'll be a pushover, but then I've always said she was easy. ;)

My dear [b:bdc9377d6f] Linda[/b:bdc9377d6f]. Not to get all hyperWillowtechnical with you on your bday and all, but I don't think you can call your home "coastal" unless you can wiggle your toes in the sand and throw a rock in the ocean. Case in point, your former home (I believe) of Oceanside. Notice the proximity of the town to the ocean and thus the most apropos naming of said town. Contrast this with your current home: Phoenix. It would take one helluva an arm to hit the ocean while wiggling your toes in Phoenix sand. So I remain unconvinced that you actually live on the coast. :no

However, should you venture out to Southern California at any point, we can celebrate your birthday in a belated fashion (my treat) and you can try to convince me that you really do live on the coast. ;)

Congrats to all relevant parties on births (their own, or Lil Newcomers!), and chin up to every one who had a tough one.

[b:8f9dfa00ca] Dumbsaint[/b:8f9dfa00ca] I must confess to the war going on inside me: being happy for your Happy, or eating my heart out in jealousy! Why the hairy-heck can't this happen to me? [i:8f9dfa00ca] Maybe I should go check out the "Where I met my girl" thread . . . or the Singles one![/i:8f9dfa00ca]

Too funny, [b:8f9dfa00ca] relativegirl[/b:8f9dfa00ca]: Aly freckle-counting. Aly's freckles seem to demand thorough analysis . . . [i:8f9dfa00ca] preferably w/ my tongue![/i:8f9dfa00ca] :drool :thud

One of my friends when I was in Middle School (Jr. High) decided to try to thoroughly analyze my freckles. Unfortunately for me though, it was not with her tongue, but a black pen (that took me forever to get to come off) so I walked around school the rest of the day with black dots all over my left arm. I forgot what number she got to before class was over but it was around 400 or so. She was really bored.
