Ask ANY Question Stress Free. But Please Read the First Post

Postby Nation » Wed Jan 01, 2003 9:34 pm

Here's my question...I've noticed that there are several Buffy themed books out there available at bookstores/online, etc. I've seen books about Buffy, Angel, Xander, Willow, Spike, Oz, etc. Are there any books that are centered around Willow and Tara? Since there are literally dozens of books out there, I haven't had the time to read a synopsis for each. Does anyone know if there are any W/T books out there, or on the way? And let me assure you there are quite a few talented writers on this board that I'm sure could pound out a good W/T novel! Any info appreciated....thanks...

There aren't any WT centered books out there (yet).

They first appeared together and had some sweet scenes in the Unseen Trilogy, a Buffy/Angel crossover.
Since then they have appeared in other novels as well but only briefly, sometimes with nice scenes but lately the scenes are tainted by character and storyline incontinuities as some writers are projecting season 6 crap on the stories which takes place during season 5.
There is one recent positive exception and that is The Wisdom Of War By Christopher Golden which has a lot of very good WT scenes and they are true to their characters as well.

In april there will be a a W/T comic collection book of Amber Benson's and Christopher Golden's WT comics WannaBlessedBe and Wilderness.

With the xception of the Christopher Goldens book, I'm afraid that Tara tends to be relegated to the 'Willow's Girlfriend' character in most books she appears in. In "Unseen" [if I remember correctly] , she was certainly a bit more 'up-front', but not in a W/T sort of way.

However I really have to agree with you that there are several fics in Pens which knock the spots off all but the best [and they are on a par with them too] when it comes to W/T and indeed anything BtVS.

Oh, and by the way if anyone from ME is reading this you really should take a look at Doppleganger Redux, just to see how the whole W/T arc should be handled and perhaps pick up on some fairly major hints on how to get yourselves out of the hole that you dug. :\

Chris Golden's got a new crossover book out later this year in March called Monster Island, & he's said that it should make the Kittens happy :) He's a sweetie.

ETA after Googling:
It's set at the beginning of S6

Season six is difficult because, particularly early on, Buffy is shattered by having been pulled out of Heaven and put back on Earth, which she thinks of as her own sort of Hell now. Who wouldn't, after having been in heaven. In order to write a story set in that period, you've got to find a way to distract Buffy from her own woes, otherwise the WHOLE story would be about how depressed and in need of Prozac she is, and that would be very slow . . . not to mention depressING.

Of course, we could have her realize how much Spike loves her and means to her and start doing the wild thing with him every two seconds to distract herself from her grief . . . but, no, it would be too early in the season for that.

Barby, just so you know . . . we GET it. You don't like the way I write Spike. You disagree with me. That's really okay. Not a problem. You're under no obligation to read things I've written that have Spike in them . . . or anything else, for that matter. I appreciate that you have your own opinion on the subject, really, but it isn't going to change mine.

pub44.ezboard.com/fgolden...=227.topic

Well, Tom and I wrote a Buffy/Angel crossover. Does that count? MONSTER ISLAND will be out March 1st. Oh, and Gunn gets plenty of do.

So does Tara.

Thanks so much for the recommendations. I will be in the hospital for a few days next month and since I won't have internet access, thus no access to the Kitten Board, I want to have a good book with me. I think I'll check out The Wisdom of War. Thanks again for suggesting it.
I also look forward to Monster Island!

Sorry if this is the wrong place, Mods. I didn't know where to place it. I put this in the Amber picture thread too.

Okay... I do have a question and hopefully someone can help me out. I can't remember where I found the pics... it was somewhere here on the kitten, but sometime last year I found a yahoo album that had a whole bunch of pics of Amber from one of the Comic conventions. There were some pics of her and Nicholas, some of Amber with an iguana and her mom. There was a pic of Amber laughing with her mouth open and you could practically see down her throat.

There were also a couple of pics of Amber and Xita (I think it was you) wearing a blue shirt???

I can't remember where I found them though, and I would love to see if I could find them again. Can someone help me?? Please?? *Sniff*

OH... there was also a pic of Amber wearing her kitten definition t-shirt, if that helps any.

Thanks in advance, guys.

Okay, this is completely unrelated to anything except my term paper:

Are there any pschologists/psychiatrists/other mental health professionals out there who could either direct me to a good official website or who has a copy of the book that is the official guide to all mental illnesses (i can't remember the name) and give me the definition of paranoid schizophrenia and it's symptoms? I'm writing a paper on the fictionalization of joan of arc in film and i want to say that the joan in the messenger was portrayed as a paranoid schizophrenic and i need a good definition from a nice official source that i can cite.

thanks :grin

Is anyone else having problems posting with Netscape? It started being weird a couple of days ago and the reply box doesn't show up at all. Of course, Internet Explorer :puke works fairly well, but I don't like it!
If anyone else has noticed a problem and has any ideas how to fix it, I'd appreciate hearing. I think my next step is to dig around EZBoards help stuff. Such fun! ;)

Glasgow kitties, or anyone who knows glasgow at all, can someone reccomend a nice gay bar or gay friendly bar where me and the bint can have a nice quiet drink? I only know places by name but have no idea what they're like?:confused All i know is im fed up of being stared at in regular pubs in town. So yeah, somewhere relatively quiet and cosy would be good!

Thanks Skittles...
Stuff is still messed up for me so I guess I have to reinstall netscape. Ew. ;)
Life is ok if your biggest complaint is having to use a different browser!

And I know nothing about Glasgow! Sorry!

Is my computer knackered, or has the 'Season 7' part of the kitten board vanished? I have looked for a thread that would explain the disappearance... but can't find one! Has it truelly gone?

Thanks in advance. ;)

It's still there. You have to make sure you are logged in properly to be able to see it. Of course that only works if you had access in the first place. :)

Is there anywhere on this board a list of how many posts you need to reach the various levels (floating rose, gay now, etc.)? If someone could please point that out to me, I would appreciate it! I'm geeky and like to "monitor my progress." ;)

Many thanks...

Cicca, I'm sort of using Netscape and having no problems. I'm using Mozilla, version 1.2.1. Mozilla is the freely written browser that AOL bases Netscape on. I think Netcape 7 is based on some release of 1.0. I like it better.

S4 had Fear Itself for Halloween, Pangs for Thanksgiving, & the closest epi to Christmas (date-wise) was Hush on 12/14. There was no epi w/ a Christmas plot.

Fear, Itself aired Oct. 26, 1999 near halloween.

Nothing right around christmas at all. Hush aired Hush Dec. 14, 1999 and the next episode was Doomed Jan. 18, 2000.

Is there a problem with the board spell check program? Anytime I use it, it runs the check perfectly, then eats all but the first few lines of my post when I click "finish." Any suggestions?

as far as spell check right now, I don't know...

but I have always heard the sage advise to do a quick save/copy (control+A, control+C) to clipboard before posting because.... occasionally the board gets hungry and eats posts without posting them... but not recently... to my knowledge.... I think :confused

ps.. it just worked for me :confused

in my experience, it's the really long messages that get eaten. I've never had a problem with short messages, but i've lost really long ones before. which really stinks. so yeah, i'd go with skittles' suggestion and copy it just in case :)
