Ok, I just had to make a Xena-list.
I can't seem to escape my past... /chuckle/ In the future I hope to write a comparative essay about Xena and Buffy, in which I will hope to reveal the parallellisms, all the storylines, characters Joss might have "stolen" from Rob: the great, and unfortunately the bad, all in good fun of course
For now, a first attempt:
Buffy = straight, non-subtext Xena: both the title heroines
Willow = Gabrielle, back in her good old redhead days, when she was still babbling like our Will
Tara = gay, maintext Xena: kinda obvious since they both got killed, might have the whole ghost-thing in common -> here the peaceful, caring, enlightened Xe
Xander = Joxer: enough said: sometimes knows his place, other times obnoxious beyond belief, comic relief (often failing miserably with the slapstick), has fans and adversaries
Anya = I was going with Salmoneus, the gold-digging merchant, but maybe Meg's a better match for Jox: keen on the whole sexthing, also fond of dinars...
Dawn = Eve: ok, so Xena and Eve are mother and daughter: they both got used as the young girl who gets thrown into the 5th season
Giles = Eli, Gab's spiritual guide, friend - Giles has also been teaching Willow, always been very fond of her
Spike = Ares: they both got the whole bad boy thing going for them - also Ares's character got weakened, neutered (loss of godhood) near the end, and he got used for comedy
Clem = maybe the Chewbacca, hairy, furry monkey-like creature from the ep "The Way": I forgot his name, but it was a good character
Joyce = Cyrene, Xena's mum
Harmony = Discord, wannabebad, had a bit of a thing with Ares, as Harmony had with Spike, sticking around to move on up
Faith = Callisto, Warrior Queen: human, Xena's archenemy, pleasantly psychotic - the whole obsession thing with Xe, like Faith with Buffy
Drusilla = Callisto as immortal: losing it even further
Glory = Callisto, Warrior Goddess - alright, Callisto is just a kick-ass character, you can never get enough of her
Darla = Alti: weird comparison, but they both have this voice-thing going for them
Angel = Borias: once bad, turned good
Cordelia = Aphrodite: the lingo, the clothes, the attitude: Dite used to be one of the baddies but not quite, near the end she's good, becomes part of the gang
Wesley = uhm, Hippocrates ? Obviously smart, but wants to do his job to well, misses field experience in the beginning, but is sure to make a wonderful doctor, watcher, whatever
Riley = Hercules, Mister Nice Guy, muscular, bla, bla
Oz = Perdicas, Gab's first love (young and stupid), she didn't know any better, innocent and naief, experimenting, not knowing about Xena's love yet - glad he's out of the picture
Adam = demon Indrajitt: Xena needs supernatural help to defeat him, as did Buffy
evil bitch monster of death = Najara: same haircut, bugged me beyond belief, annoying
Major = Caesar: visions of grandeur
principal Snyder: Cortese: ruined Xena's youth, comparable with Buffy
Amy = Velasca, like Gab and amazon, turned bad, as with Amy: powers used for evil
Forrest = Iolaus
Graham = Jason
both buddies of Riley, Herc
Kendra = Boadicea: both from a different culture, different accent, both get killed in battle
Warren, Andrew, Jonathan: pick irritating characters: Yodoshi, samourai with terrible accent, Ulysses, a.k.a. Useless
...
That's about it, for now. It's a first draft, a start. Any comment, suggestions, corrections are welcome. Had a blast with this. Wicked idea

Like what were the names of the two grumpy old men that sat in that balcony thing in the theatre??? Then there was that Swedish chef guy, and the cast of Pigs in Space.
