Have a great day kittens!

What genre of bad movie would be W/T's favorite?

Ugh - I've seen so many bad movies lately & not the good kind of bad. Current frontrunner: [i:954a2cc4e1] Possession[/i:954a2cc4e1] with la Paltrow.

For a pick-me-up, I usually watch girlie slumber movies -- classic John Hughesy films or variations thereof, such as Sweet Sixteen, Heathers, Clueless, Show Me Love or Drop Dead Gorgeous. Back-up faves: [b:954a2cc4e1] Impromptu [/b:954a2cc4e1], [b:954a2cc4e1] Moonstruck[/b:954a2cc4e1] and [b:954a2cc4e1] Buffy the Vampire Slayer [/b:954a2cc4e1] -- which I loved (so camp!) and Joss hates.

As for [b:954a2cc4e1] Will and Tara[/b:954a2cc4e1]:

It's probably too obvious to say kitschy witchy films (e.g. Return from Witch Mountain). So, final answer, [b:954a2cc4e1] old animal-rescue films[/b:954a2cc4e1] such as [b:954a2cc4e1] Lassie[/b:954a2cc4e1]. They would have to be pre-disney anthropomorphizing (giving animals human characteristics) so the dogs actually bark instead of talk. Tare saves her fave horsie films for when Willow's away e.g. National Velvet, Black Stallion/Beauty.

Ah a bad movie friday, that has been a while, hum, I may not win the popularity contest for this one, but having watched quite a few movies again lately I can actually answer this, and these things are always subjective of course, but I have to nominate [b:214c42ceef] American Pie[/b:214c42ceef], the first one. I haven't seen the second, but to make it up, the laughs it did give me were because of Alyson, and not just because I am biased. She honestly was the only redeeming factor of that movie, but her screen time was far too short to save it for me. Another one would be [b:214c42ceef] Runaway Bride[/b:214c42ceef] with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, I always love Joan Cusack and I like Julia Roberts, but that was it, just not funny.

Then there are also bad movies that I do enjoy, knowing full well they are bad, they still amuse me, almost all Arnold Schwarzenegger movies fall into that catagory, the last one I saw recently was[b:214c42ceef] the sixth day[/b:214c42ceef], hum I think he had a slight set back acting wise and it was just a wee bit too much fiction pretending to be science, heh, but it amused me anyway. I think that might actually be the kind of bad movie material WT might like, those bad acted/special effects/fantasy early 80s movies like [b:214c42ceef] Conan the Barbarian[/b:214c42ceef] and [b:214c42ceef] Red Sonja[/b:214c42ceef]. They are so bad they are great you know. :laugh

Do you mean [i:ba9c817fae] good[/i:ba9c817fae] bad movies or [i:ba9c817fae] bad[/i:ba9c817fae] bad movies?

In the first category, I have to recommend [i:ba9c817fae] Hercules in New York[/i:ba9c817fae], Ahnald's first movie (he's listed as Arnold Strong in the credits). So wonderfully cheap, incompetent and incoherent. The best part is because Ahnald's Accent was so Strong (ha!), they had someone who sounded like a local weatherman come in and dub all of his lines. If you can see this movie and not be saying "I am Hercules. Son of Zeus." in an overly pronounced voice for the next several months, you're a stronger person than I.

In the second category is "New Rose Hotel". Christopher Walken, William Defoe, Asia Argiento in a film based on one of William Gibson's best short stories. Can't go wrong right? Oh boy can it ever. Cheap, incompetent and incoherent in a way manages to be excruciatingly boring instead of amusing. The fact that they decided the best ending would be to re-show most of the movie in chopped up flashbacks (many shown over and over and [b:ba9c817fae] OVER[/b:ba9c817fae]) certainly didn't help.

Willow would love bad Sci-Fi movies. Tara would claim that her favourites would be bad Musicals, but really she would like bad Kung-Fu movies the best.

Well considering the last movie I think I even watched was Chance, I can't speak of bad films. However October is an excellent movie month if you love horror films. IFC and Sundance play some of the best most classic horror films of the past couple decades.

I would ever suggest any and all George Romero fair, one of his earliest, and excellent vampire film [b:0c2c5e0641] Martin[/b:0c2c5e0641], also of course his classics [b:0c2c5e0641] Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead[/b:0c2c5e0641], the lesser known third of the series [b:0c2c5e0641] Day of the Dead[/b:0c2c5e0641].

If you are not into horror or the like than october is probably a bad film month for you. But if you :heart [b:0c2c5e0641]orange & black[/b:0c2c5e0641] than October may well be your month.

Ahh..the last bad Movie I saw was "House". A truly awful 80's b-movie like horror flick. It was just bad...but I watched anyway.

*sigh* It's 3:30 in the morning, and I pretty much just got back to my dorm but I have a Japanese test at 9:05, a theatre midterm at 10:10 and an english paper due at 12:30 and i'm not fully prepared for any of them so I must go study now...wish me luck.

I have seen some really bad movies, even though some of them I thought were great the first time I saw them. Like, um, "The Goonies". I loved that one when I was little. The last movie I saw was really really good. I finally rented "Kissing Jessica Stein", and I loved it so much I watched it 4 times before I had to take it back.

okay, I didn't really like American Pie either - but I found the second one quite watchable really.

ooo - the goonies - I still love that movie!!! even went and bought the DVD!

I have to admit though, the last movie I watched was really bad. I found myself watching "Our lips are sealed" the other afternoon. the description in the TV guide was "the olsen twins find themselves avoiding a gangster down-under when they are sent to australia". I can't tell you why I didn't change the channel. It was painful to watch.

I like this topic !! 2 really good laughably bad movies:
A walk in the clouds with Keanu Reeves (watch out for the 'crush the grapes' scene and also the scene where Keanu tries to fly)
Excess Baggage with Alicia Silverstone (basically all she does is get in the car and then get out of the car..... and I had thought it looked really good in the trailers, mind you that was when I really liked clueless and Alicia Silverstone so maybe I was biased).

Hmm, watched a truly awful Charles Bronson film the other night, big pile o'shite that was!! Another bad movie I saw recently was Unbreakable with Bruce Willis...didn't like that at all...good idea but terribly slow and plodding. :(

Saw Mulholland Drive the other day and really liked it, even though my brain went on vacation for much of it, meaning I didn't really grasp what was going on!!! :lol But there was that rather 'hot' scene that I really enjoyed!!;)

Ah....

So close to my heart.

I have an entertainment center full of MST3k tapes. I LOVE bad movies. If someone tells me something is bad, well I gotta see it.

Favorite bad movie of the moment. "The Star Wars Holiday Special" yes this piece wookie shit hit the air waves in November of 1978. God is it awful. All the cast is there. Mark Hamil with WAY too much eye makeup, Harrison Ford lookling like he rather be anywhere else and wondering if he can get his old carpenter's job back, and Carrie Fisher...well let's just say that this is when Carrie was running around a lot with Dan Ackroid. Not to mention Harvey Corman, Bea Arthur and Diane Carrol (i think).
See this thing is like plutonium, you can only handle it so many times your entire life. Currently I have seen it three or four times. Once when it was on in 78 and then I showed it at a halloween party recently.
I felt my IQ drop due to brain damage. Really.
It has one saving grace, the Boba Fett cartoon.
Did I mention it centers around Chewbakka's family? and they only speak Wookie the whole time? Yes there are long stretches of time where it is nothing but Nala, Itchy and Lumpy (Chewie's wife, father and son) barking and growling at each other.
Watch for Carrie Fisher singing to the Star Wars main theme at the end.
Bring spoons. You will want something to pluck your eyes out with.

Dungeons & Dragons, The Movie or whatever they called that crime.

Bad, horribly exaggerated acting and lots of scenes that had me go all :lol and really weren't supposed to. Just imagine a supposedly dramatic showdown that is cut so badly it seems the villain has three arms. And try not to laugh at that. Or a supposedly touching grave scene where they put a valuable emerald on a grave to honour somebody. In a setting with lots of poor people. And they leave. Just how long do they expect it to stay there?

Ah, I'll stop now. I think you got my point :D

Really Bad Movies Humm, the entire Israeli film industry? Oh, no, you probably mean flicks people actually watch. Right. Ahem.

My Piss-Poor Movie of All Times award goes to [b:5ff2cc7eed] Cruel Intentions II[/b:5ff2cc7eed], the worst movie ever, ever, ever made. Not Cruel intentions, Cruel Intentions II. I dont know where the hell it came from. I just wanted to rent a movie and there it was in the video-machine thingy and Im thinking, well, Cruel Intentions was really good so this shouldnt be too far off, right? Not that I was expecting it to soar heights or anything, being a sequel and all but oh good merciful god did it suck! Gross, just, ugggh disgusting, verging on disturbing. It wasnt a sequel at all, it was like this b-side or a fake or something, I dont know. It was the same story basically, just with other actors and a double-digit budget and it was just ridiculous and perverted YUCK. If you ever see a copy of that movie, do the world a favor and smash it to tiny little bits, ok?

Edited to add: [b:5ff2cc7eed] ivyimonradio[/b:5ff2cc7eed], I second you on Jeepers Creepers. Bad. And yet even worse - pointless.

Now the wow award goes to gosh Ive seen so many lately, its really hard to call just one. Ill go for latest then. [b:5ff2cc7eed] A New-Waterfordshire Girl[/b:5ff2cc7eed] (though dont take my word on the spelling). Its an amazing, weird movie. Its about a slightly strange girl who lives in a tiny town and is a complete outsider. All she wants is to leave there and go study art in NYC, but when she gets the scholarship her parents wont let her go because they think she is mentally unstable and I wont ruin your ending. Its an amazing movie and the lead actress, though not famous, is just [i:5ff2cc7eed] good[/i:5ff2cc7eed]. Definitely a must for those who like Early-Winona-Ryder-type flicks.

And the American Pie/s, apart from the three Alyson seconds, really, really suck.

PS [b:5ff2cc7eed] cesario21[/b:5ff2cc7eed] I *love* your sig!

Oh, this is a fun one, and everyone has such good choices.

The last bad movie I saw was [b:2123068f49] Rollerball[/b:2123068f49], and it was bad enough that I watched the whole thing. If a movie is just mediocre, I'll usually just stop watching, but if it's really bad. I have to watch. The main thing I remember about Rollerball is that I returned the video to the wrong rental place and then forgot about it for two weeks. It's a long story, but apparently no one in the history of movie-watching Pittsburgh has ever returned a video to the wrong place before. :sigh

But my favorite bad movie of all time is [b:2123068f49] Aspen Extreme[/b:2123068f49] that 80's ski movie. I think it had four or five different endings. You know, Jack wins the race! Fade to black! and then a few seconds later, fade in and Jack's girlfriend might leave him! Oh no! But no, it's okay! Fade to black! and then a few seconds later, fade in and avalanche! Will they all make it! Oh, they do! Hurray! Fade to black! and then fade in and there's another race!

You get the idea. BTW, I think there were two guys, and neither of them was named Jack.

Favorite bad movies. Wow. My sister and I used to love to watch [b:51b08d953b] The Bad Seed[/b:51b08d953b] and [b:51b08d953b] Tremors[/b:51b08d953b] together. And [b:51b08d953b] Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.[/b:51b08d953b] We were very warped children, yes. My dad is a bad movie buff, and kept us well-stocked in bad cinema.

In college my friends made fun of me tons because we had free HBO in our dorm suite, and for some reason one winter they kept running "Fly Away Home" every day during my lunch break between classes. And I watched it like... every day while I ate lunch up there. Anna Paquin and a bunch of fuzzy lil ducks. Or were they geese? I just... I couldn't help myself. It's that cute girl with animals principal. Gets me pretty much every time. Woe to the dork.

And hey! Whoever said [b:51b08d953b] Goonies[/b:51b08d953b] was a bad movie, that's SO not true. It's a classic! Hee. I still love that one. I even bought Jerri a t-shirt featuring Chunk doing the Truffle Shuffle back when we first got together. Hehe. She loves that bit.

You know who I love, because he's so damn good at making fun of the whole bad movie genre? John Waters. I freaking love his work. I could watch Hairspray, Serial Mom, and Cecil B. Demented (Alicia Witt, hubba hubba) for days on end and stay entertained. Great topic, Xita. ;)

And can I just say how freaking cute this new smiley is? :baby

I sense that it will be used in new and interesting, and very, very strange ways. Hee.

Um, yeah, [b:3be5d2c0e3] vix84[/b:3be5d2c0e3], my fine was....$23.00.

The really stupid part, though, is that when I went to Giant Eagle and found that I had returned the video to Blockbuster, I said "can't they just send it over or something?" And Giant Eagle said "we don't know how to contact them."

But the worst part is that when I went to Blockbuster to get the wrong video back to return it to Giant Eagle, I told them to look for the [b:3be5d2c0e3] wrong[/b:3be5d2c0e3] movie. :blush .

So I had three Blockbuster employees running around the story looking for a Giant Eagle copy of [b:3be5d2c0e3] Bandits[/b:3be5d2c0e3], and they kept saying--and I kid you not--"are you sure it's not Rollerball?" And I kept saying, "no, no, I swear, it's Bandits."

Then I remembered that Bandits was in the car. And I said, "um, it's Rollerball," in a little tiny voice. And they just handed it over without a word.

Oh, and I remember [b:3be5d2c0e3] The Bad Seed[/b:3be5d2c0e3]. Wow, Dumbsaint, you are taking me back.

[b:935faad152] Mrs Vertigo[/b:935faad152]: The film you're talking about is [b:935faad152] New Waterford Girl[/b:935faad152]. It's a great little Canadian movie set in Nova Scotia.

Edited to add: For a dark, funny, odd movie, check out the Canadian [b:935faad152] Ginger Snaps [/b:935faad152]. It's what [i:935faad152] Buffy[/i:935faad152] should have been when it turned dark -- macabre, tough and a little gory but still with the wicked sense of humour and female 'empowerment.' It's Buffy spliced with Carrie except with sibling sister lycanthropes.

Postby Elianna » Fri Oct 11, 2002 4:38 am

I haven't seen many bad movies, because I'm pretty cheap and so try to be very careful about what movies I go to see. On tv is different, though. There was one movie that I saw that I thought was just awful, but I can't remember the name after reading all of your posts. I blame each and every one of you! *points around the world.

I had a pretty "interesting" experience in Israel one time. My sister and I were going to see Titan AE. Now, in Israel they sometimes dub cartoons, but if you get an english language paper, they tell you shich ones are dubbed. So we thought that we find one that's not dubbed. We get to the movie theater, start watching, and Oh NO! it's in Hebrew. We have a little debate about whether or not we stay or go, and then decide that we paid for it, so we might as well stay. And then we surprised ourselves, because we both actually understood everything going on, except for the translation of when the aliens were speaking, because my sister doesn't read fast enough, so I had to read to her.

On a different note, I haven't been around for a while, and have missed everyone. hugs all around.

Love,

Bad movies? That's an easy one: Any.Movie.George.Clooney.Has.Been.In!! Can you tell I'm not a fan of his?! The worst however is the movie that is set on the boat, arghh my mind has gone blank, does anyone have any idea which one I'm talking about? George Clooney, on a boat, they all end up dying and it was a true story...

'Buffy' the movie, really a bad movie all round but eh as fun is the best fun! Also takes you back to the days when *giggly, girly voice* Luke Perry was THE cutests :lol

Hey, y'all know it's National Coming Out Day, right? Happy National Coming Out Day! (Just pretend that's a big, sexy, scrolling font thingy there.)

Now, I love few things more than hideously terrible movies. Of course, that means, [i:e5f6b17906] Plan 9 from Outer Space[/i:e5f6b17906] and [i:e5f6b17906] Attack of the Killer Tomatoes[/i:e5f6b17906]. (I wonder if "Puberty Love" is on KaZaA....)

But I'm also deeply fond of pretty much any craptastic 70s/80s horror films. [i:e5f6b17906] Female Plasma Suckers, Gates of Hell, The Toolbox Murders, Motel Hell,[/i:e5f6b17906] etc.

Ooooh, and I [b:e5f6b17906] love[/b:e5f6b17906] [i:e5f6b17906] Barbarella[/i:e5f6b17906].

I haven't seen much of anything lately, actually. Good or bad. Well, I did see [i:e5f6b17906] The Monkey's Mask[/i:e5f6b17906], and yeah, it sucks as much as everyone says it does.

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Goonies is a classic movie and in no way bad. American Pie is not as good as the sequel, far more Aly in the sequel. The last movie I watched on video was Panic room which I really enjoyed, even if it was a bit slow. The last movie I went to see was Blue Crush which could have been better but the waves were great :)

Bad movies I've seen? Tank girl, Phoenix (one of 6 people to ever watch that crap) and I'm not a fan of 2001 I feel asleep in it. Of course if you want bad movies you have to watch then I'd go with things like Legally Blonde.

WI,

No I thought she was cute too.

Bad Movies, part 2.

Bless his little black heart, but ANYTHING made by Roger Corman. No one else has done so well at being bad than Roger. "Teenage Caveman", "Voyage of the Viking Women", "Black Scorpion", "Roger Corman's Dracula Rising", starring Christopher Atkins (the creature from the Blue Lagoon) complete with Dracula as a good vampire fighting his evil brother Mortal Combat style in some alternate hell dimension. And some other 300 or so too awful to mention. Yet Hollywood loves him and he seems like a nice guy in person.

The Blue Iguana might be a bad movie, but since I have only seen it when my brain was so torn up from drugs I couldn't really tell.

Bad Movies are like White Castle slidders. They are a great idea when you are drunk and a gulity pleasure, but you just can't was away the slime from them.

[b:f217630d79] Cruel Intentions 2[/b:f217630d79]. God why was that ever made?
[b:f217630d79] Starship Troopers[/b:f217630d79] is terrible, but it is freaking "Shindler's List" compared to [b:f217630d79] Battlefield Earth[/b:f217630d79]. Remember kids, cults usually don't make good scifi.

Of course the movie [b:f217630d79] Ed Wood[/b:f217630d79] is Tim Burton's love affair with the prince of bad movies, Ed Wood himself. Johnny Depp is great and this is a good flick. Sad that it made more money and got more awards than Ed Wood ever did in his life time.

It was like some kind of bizarre family night. We would always gather to watch it. Come to think of it, we'd watch [i:095461b9e8] Piranah[/i:095461b9e8] and [i:095461b9e8] The Toxic Avenger[/i:095461b9e8] too.
