Postby skittles » Mon Oct 07, 2002 4:14 am

Ok, I have a headache. There is another kitten that is sick & I'm sure there are more out there that aren't enjoying the day.... for whatever reason, including it being MONDAY!! :(

[b:897999d62d] So, my question for the day is:

What is your favorite remedy for not feeling good?? [/b:897999d62d]

This includes headaches, sneezy colds, stomach & so forth yuckos, hangovers, monthlies and most especially [b:897999d62d] Bad Moods!!![/b:897999d62d]

Also, what are Willow & Tara's favorite remedies? and yes, their best remedy is being with each other, but besides that??

For me, sometimes a cup of hot orange spice herbal tea is so nice... with or without additives....

poor skittles! take two tylenol and call me in the morning! oh wait, it is morning. bleh. I was having a really bizarre dream this morning about being stuck in prison, actually i think i was the guy stuck in prison's lawyer or something. but whatever the case, he was escaping and I was sort of helping him. It was really cool the way he was doing it too, I just wish I remembered more.

So anyway, whenever I feel like I'm starting to get a cold, I take Cold-eze, that stuff is really really helpful. If I start taking it right when I feel like I'm coming down with something, it goes away in 2 or 3 days, instead of a week or more. Good stuff. There are two cures for hangovers. One is to drink some more alcohol, the best one is to smoke some pot. Weed is a good cure for headaches too. It makes headaches and tummy upsetedness go away.

If you have a sig. other, the best cure is to have them make you a cup of tea/bowl of chicken soup and serve it to you and cuddle on the couch while you watch TV. That's what Willow and Tara would do. :D

Man, Mondays are annoying. Have good ones anyway, kittens! :grin

Ah that is the most fitting thread title that I've seen in a while. I've had a hell of a weekend suffering from 'hayfever from hell'!

My sollution for any illness is just sleeping, eating anything and everything that is on the 'bad for you' list and, for the few moments that you're actually awake, a marathon of some kind (Buffy, videos, etc). Also beginning and ending the day with a hot bath with bubbles and smelling salts, surrounded by candles! Ahh yes I think I have being sick perfected! For the rest of you Kittens with sweeties out there a good day of snuggling up helps - if not then a pet will suffice :)

Will and Tara's rememdies would have to be the latter: snuggles! I mean if you had either of them could you think of anything better to do!?!

So a new week, my last week of holidays *sigh* they always seem to go too quickly. To everyone good luck and enjoy the week!!

Mondays suck, blah. for headaches, i usually take some Exedrin or Tylenol and go back to sleep. for a cold i have some soup and go back to sleep. if i'm in a bad mood, i pop a CD in and go back to sleep.

i think Willow and Tara would have some soup and snuggle in bed :)

Firstly, OT, I just had a weird experience. I was reading my horoscope online (yes, I know, it's kinda sad...heh) and they have these message boards. So I went in for the hell of it and the first thing I see is this:

[i:4bf4d3c7c4] Goodmorning EVERYONE!!!! alybtrfly 2002-10-07 06:06:59
ALY LOVE Amber 2002-10-07 06:10:01
Re: Amber LOVE alybtrfly 2002-10-07 06:15:25
Aly LOVE Amber 2002-10-07 06:24:00
Re: Amber.... alybtrfly [/i:4bf4d3c7c4]

So i was a little freaked, to say the least.

I looked at the posts and it turns out it's just these friends, Amber and Alycia. But...:spin
Hmm you're kittens, you understand the weirdness, dontcha?

Anyway, back on topic, I usually have a mug of hot chocolate and curl up with a friend/SO/pet (whatever is available at that point in time...) in front of a video. Mmm, that sounds really good, actually. Tempting. Makes you want to be 'sick' more often.

As for hangovers, I have so far in my 18 years not found a single remedy. In fact, when I'm hungover, even thinking about remedies makes everything feel worse. *shudder* So I vow never to drink again, but that never works *frown*

[/quote:7f19270d6c]
Call me old fashioned, but the best thing out there is [b:7f19270d6c] chocolate milk[/b:7f19270d6c]. Hot if its cold outside and vice versa. Chocolate milk makes all things better. But, uh, not just not American produce. Cause thats [i:7f19270d6c] bad[/i:7f19270d6c]. All American mild products are bad. Im sorry, but they are :grin .

The next best thing to chocolate milk is sleep. And thats scientifically based, actually, because you wouldnt believe just how much health crap and general suckyness is due to sleep deprivation. From which we [i:7f19270d6c] all[/i:7f19270d6c] suffer self inflicted, of course, cause were total dumbasses like that, as a species :)

And, uh, if those dont work, meet up with your friends. If that in itself doesnt make you feel better than at least its much more fun to mope and grumble and be miserable around sympathetic people. Eventually theyd all start fussing over you and make you feel all mothered up and fuzzy. And if youre not the pouty type you can always bare your torment in stoic silence and then credit yourself for bravery, which, yknow will make you all proud of yourself and hence feeling better.

Or you could just watch a homemade BtVS marathon and replay, memorize and act out all the good parts!

Which is, uh, fun if youve downloaded the entire 5th and 6th season *mumbles* and are a complete dork.

Music is my favourite remedy when I'm feeling down.

Although when I want to pamper myself I put a nip of brandy in a cup of strong black coffee - yummy! (Molly adding to the stereotype that Irish people are alcohol mad!) [img:f60f65895d]http://homepage.eircom.net/~mollyig/winkgreen.gif[/img:f60f65895d]

I can see Tara knowing loads of herbel remedies for whatever ails her. But ultimately just being with her Willow would be the best fix. Same for Willow.

I gotta agree. A little pot never made [i:7dbb4e4f82] my[/i:7dbb4e4f82] day any worse!

conversation starter? check.
headache cure? check.
hangover? check.
boredom? check.
bad mood? check.

how much longer before I get to Canada again?

W/T? I still entertain the notion that they're closet potheads. Stoned snugglies are the best!

Well actually [b:38ddaec699]Tulipp[/b:38ddaec699], you may not know this but I happen to be a fan of a band called [b:38ddaec699][i:38ddaec699]Indigo Girls[/i:38ddaec699][/b:38ddaec699] [img:38ddaec699]http://homepage.eircom.net/~mollyig/winkgreen.gif[/img:38ddaec699]

Edited to say that some people put ginger ale in brandy. Not me though, shocking thing to do to decent brandy!

My favorite cure for a headache is to take a damp washcloth and heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds, and then place it on my forehead. The pain goes away just like that. It's amazing. Also, a steaming hot bubble bath, with dimmed/no lights and soft music playing in the background, always makes me feel better. And of course, chocolate. Can't forget the chocolate. :)

Willow and Tara? Hmmm, I think they would do the hot bubble bath thing ... with each other of course ... :wink

Generally I curl up in bed and pull the covers over my head and sleep. That's bad, I know, or I'll grab a cigarette and smoke it. (I know, bad, bad, bad) Most of the time I find a hot cup of tea, a good book/music makes me feel better when I'm in a bad mood, or a nice walk in the woods. If I'm feeling okay, but am in a bad mood I'll crank my music and dance around my apartment in my jammies. That always makes my cats look at me like I'm on crack though...hehehehe

For a bad headache one Burana and a few hours of rest/sleep in place as quiet and dark as possible.

For a bad mood, first "Sick of My Life" by Godsmack followed by Ajattara, Sentenced or something similar and if need be some hitting the walls and doing push-ups.

I've got a huge contracture in my back, near the left shoulder. It's so painful I can hardly use my left hand. The doctor made me take a medicine that makes you sleepy. So... I quit class today!

My favourite remedy for everything is to sit in the garden and watch my cats playing between them (and including me sometimes), the birds chirping and the beautiful trees and flowers. I guarantee it cures from a broken heart to any physical pain!

Tara must know a lot of home remedies. Willow would have relied in science before meeting her, but since then she really got into the ancient ways. :)

my remedy for everything, a blonde with a guitar. BUT other than that, snuggliness, pancakes made by someone snuggly (which also is what i say willow and tara would say), or watching old taraliscious eps is what i do when anything is wrong. or i watch tapes of rosie o'donnell. standup, movies, old shows, whichever. this is what brings me joy.
oh and note to any kittens who get migraines, ignore the suggestion of pot to relieve headaches, cuz if theyre migraine headaches, they make it SOOOO much worse, and actually, just avoid pot in general if you get migraines, cuz it's been known to induce them. No Fun. Blindness a la [i:6ed3375a69] Something Blue[/i:6ed3375a69].

meanwhile might i add that today is so far sucking a whole lot, so i for one shall be attempting to make use of any and all remedies.

I was also extremely sick this morning. I think I took to many sniffs of Afrin, that plus Tylenol Allegy Sinus made me a little loopy today.

To make myself feel better I usually lie in bed and listen to music or read a book. And if I'm up for it, playing the piano always makes me forget about being sick.

If Tara got sick I could always picture Willow lip singing some cheezy sixty love song to her while Tara sat on the couch wrapped in blankets. And just little things like playing Go Fish or making tea and watching movies all day while Willow took care of her.

If Willow got sick I could see Tara trying to help Willow study for an upcoming test or reading her a chapter in a textbook.

And hey, nothing says I Love You, like emptying out your loved one's barf bucket. :)

Well, Im not physically sick, but Im not feeling 100% either. I live in Montgomery County, Maryland where the sniper killed five people last week, and the next county over just had a shooting this morning, so things have been more than a little strange. You find yourself wondering if youre too exposed when youre pumping gas or if you should avoid the Michaels art store in case the snipers targeting those. They need to catch this guy soon because this isnt a way to live.

Umlets see. For me - hot chocolate, snuggly quilt, and videos. For W/T - each other and maybe some special herbs. But knowing them, nothing illegal.

Oh, and Molly likes the Indigo Girls? You learn something new every day! ;)

Two words: Ta. Basco. (Okay, I know it's really just one word, but it sounds like two...)

Oh, and a third: Jalapenos.

Treat yourself to liberal and copious amounts of these tasty little vessels of capsaiciny goodness and you will *never* be sick. (Just be sure to keep your fingers out of your eyes afterwards.)

Hey. Works for me. :grin
