Big elections in Germany this Sunday. If the polls are right, it's going to be really close. I really hope we won't get a conservative government next.

I'll be helping with the counting of the votes. I've been wanting to do that for years, but always had to work on election-days before.

And people in Zurich, Swiss, might vote for a same-sex-partnership on Sunday, too. Though I don't remember ever seeing a Swiss Kitten :confused

I do remember a daily thread about what party Willow and Tara would vote for and can't think of anything else :spin

Anyone, feel welcome to make up a question :D

Have a nice weekend everybody :grin

Good luck with the vote-counting, kukalaka! Remember, if anyone from Florida offers to help you, [b:e7a764adc7] run away![/b:e7a764adc7] :eek

I think Willow and Tara would vote to go see [i:e7a764adc7] Chance[/i:e7a764adc7] in Birmingham this weekend. Once again, good luck to all the Kittens who will be there! Have a great time!

Oh, and in case anyone's interested...

Saturday's my 38th birthday... :grin

Have a great weekend, everybody! :bounce

I'm going to vote what Tara would vote. Yeah, this year I will do something against all odds with my second vote. First will be same old same old.

I always said I was going to leave Germany if Stoiber ever becomes chancellour. I think I might have to think that over, college is not over yet.. damn. One can only hope.

Elections? Kind of a taboo subject here in Ireland. We have already voted on whether to enter the Nice Treaty or not, and the populace voted a resounding NO.

However, the Government, being so wise etc., ([img:9898052f84]http://homepage.eircom.net/~mollyig/winkgreen.gif[/img:9898052f84]
) have decicded that we really ought to vote on it again, so have organised that another election on this issue take place either late this month or early next month. Democracy how are ya?

Good luck, kukalaka! A friend of mine, Lorelei, was tapped to volunteer for election stuff locally. However, it turned out that the government folks who actual job it was had left things so badly the volunteers had to pick up all the slack. Too bad you cannot vote out bureaucrats.

Bob, happy birthday! As one who is closer to 40 than 30, I can say that it's all about how young you FEEL, eh?

W/T would vote for the local candidate who supported gay rights, then spend the rest of the day indoors, "discussing politics."

I'll vote the same party as you with my second vote :)
Still not sure on what to do with the first, though...

Edited to add:
No Floridans, oh no, we won't make that misktake...
and, discussing politics, that's a nice way to put it :drool

Thanks for the laugh, Bob. That's a subject I can't discuss at home. My gf is a fifth generation Floridian, and she is totally embarassed about her home state's election traumas. If I make a joke about it, I get into big trouble.

Well there isn't any elections here, not till March-ish I think, unless you count council elections which NO-ONE votes for anyway...I just have to share that it is such a beautiful day here, warm and sunny!!
Thank God for the weekend!

So, the truth is out: you're a young whipper-snapper, [b:b9ab7a5e53] Bob![/b:b9ab7a5e53] (Hope it's a good 'un :grin )

I don't think Tara is very political, but would dutifully vote Democratic. Willow? I think of her raging about the destruction of indigenous cultures, and think she would be a Green. Then I hear her say "menstrual energy, blah, blah" and think she would actually [i:b9ab7a5e53] vote[/i:b9ab7a5e53] Democratic, too.

GG [i:b9ab7a5e53] . . . and my politics are a little like Willow's![/i:b9ab7a5e53] ;) Out

Not 18, can't vote, saving myself the headache. Actually, since I live in Israel, where politics is even more of a bitch, I even made a habbit of [b:917a5664fc] not[/b:917a5664fc] watching the news. I don't care what happens until I'm old enough to haul my ass out of here. Patriotic much, heh?

Happy Birthday Bob!

*Decides to not go as crazy as Skittles* ;)

Good luck, Kukalaka. I've worked at elections here, and I believe that I lowered the average age of election workers by even more than I lower the average age of bridge players.

Do you actually have to sit and hand count the votes, or do you feed them into a machine, or do you not know right now?

And I didn't think that the Florida vote counters were to blame, just the designers of that butterfly ballot, and the people in charge who were trying to order the counting to stop.

Kathy, I'll send over my sister.

When I put up before and after pictures of what my room looked like, you will all be SHOCKED. My sister is great, except that she doesn't seem to understand the meaning of taking a break to go to kittenchat and say hi to people.

Thanks for the offer Elianna but I'm afraid I'm going to have to decline. ;) Heh, I really prefer my leisurely pace of cleaning. Once I get started, I'm good to go. It's the getting started that's the problem, as you can see since I'm still here typing.

My problem is the opposite. I can get started, but I lose focus and get distracted. And then my sister yells at me, so it all works out.

I really wish that you would accept her, if only to get her off my back.

Good luck!

Happy birthday Bob!

There's a really bright full Moon outside with some clouds so that the moonlight is illuminating the clouds around the Moon and it's looking really beautiful.

We'll get our elections next year around February or March, i think. I think Willow and Tara might vote for the Green party.

Don't know anything yet, just that I only have to be there from 1 pm on, so I will miss all the pensioners.

I used to sell a newspaper in an area with lots of pensioners on Sundays and I remember being there at 9 am (you can vote from 8 am till 6 pm) and several of them told me they were glad I [b:72ddcf92b2] finally[/b:72ddcf92b2] had arrived because they [b:72ddcf92b2] finally[/b:72ddcf92b2] wanted to get going. They made me feel like betraying my country and our whole democratic system by only going to vote at 5.30 pm :blush

The counting is supposed to be finished at 9.30 pm, so it might really be hand-counting *shrugs*

Actually, here in LA county at least, the polls were open from 7am to 7pm, I remember correctly. And the ballots get turned in at around 8pm (you have to take down the booths first, and then drive the ballots to a drop-off location).

Good luck with everything!

I can't imagine finishing so quickly if doing this all by hand.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!!! :party don't drink too much :puke

On a sad note, I don't get to see Debbie Reynolds. I was suppose to go see her live, but due to low ticket sales, it was canceled :( boo hoon :cry I :love Debbie. Oh well, maybe next time. (I have to say I feel sorrier for Debbie though, trying to pay off 3rd ex-husbands debts at age 70, she'll do better at a bigger town and at least she loves what she does.

Has anyone here come close, but missed out on someone they love (live show wise)

On the subject of voting, never have here in B,C. I'm old enough, I should look into it. I can honestly say I know more about American politics then i do Canadian. Don't get me wrong, I don't know all that much about Amerian either :confused

This is completely OT, but I'm so excited.

I just got back from my first Marching Band competition of the season. Everyone always says that our school is insane for going to this competition because only the best bands go, and then we show up. We go there expecting to win nothing, the only reason that we do go is so that we will have been to a competition before our Home Show next Saturday.

We won first place, Best Marching, Best Percussion, and Best Color Guard. :bounce

That wasn't susppose to happen. We were only susppose to get a perticipation award and be on our way. I'm in the Color Guard, we never win best color guard. We won once last year and not [b:956a621ff8] at all[/b:956a621ff8] the year before.

I really can't explain how huge a deal this is. But If you're in Marching Band, or have ever been, I think that you will definitly understand.

It's so exciting to start out my last year on this note. I was even able to accept the award for Color Guard (we rotate seniors who will accept awards)

And Very Many Birthday Wishes
Yelowsub
