Hey, and it really [b:588629ebdb] is[/b:588629ebdb] the weekend, even here on the West Coast.

I hope you don't mind if I use this thread to solicit a little Kitten participation and feedback. For the past week or so, I've been working on a "multimedia portfolio" to help me find gainful employment as a writer. The latest step in this project was capturing video clips of the stuff I wrote back in the 80s when I worked for the Nickelodeon series, [i:588629ebdb] You Can't Do That On Television[/i:588629ebdb].

I've got 16 clips done, and they're online in [b:588629ebdb] .wmv[/b:588629ebdb] format. The thing is, I want to narrow the set down to only 6-10 clips. That's where you come in. If you're interested, check the clips out and let me know which ones work best for you. You can find them here:

www.eriscorp.com/canterbury/Video.html

[b:588629ebdb] Please don't post this URL or links to the individual clips anywhere else.[/b:588629ebdb] I'm taking the page back down once this little feedback session is done, so linking to it will not do much good. Of course, if you want to download the clips and post the copies elsewhere, I can't really control that, can I? ;)

Oh, and as for Willow and Tara, we know they've watched [i:588629ebdb] SpongeBob SquarePants[/i:588629ebdb], but what other Nickelodeon shows might they have watched? What do you think?

Have a great weekend, everybody! :bounce

Catdog!!! I totally think they would watch this. Since in NMR, Willow was all for the dogs, but Tara wanted a cat. :p It just seems like a cartoon they both would love. :) I can see them curled up on the couch together watching it. :blush

Ye gods, whatever next. Move over "Big Brother", stand aside "I'm a non-entity, get me out of here", there's a new kid on the reality TV block and it's about to knock the rest of you outta the water.
After much nibbling of canaps and uber-power lunching, TV execs in Chicago have come up with... wait for it... "The Experiment: Gay and Straight." In this ground breaking piece of reality telly five straight people and five gay people will be locked up in a house together and filmed 24/7. Sounding good isn't it?

Now it's not just tat telly, this is science. The programme makers are hoping that the show will "confront some of the misunderstandings, fears and concerns that straight and gay people have". Er yeah or perhaps the less enlightened members of the group will indulge in a bit of small minded violence.

Friendly people

Course the producers will undoubtedly choose sweet good natured souls who want to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony so to avoid any inter-house tensions won't they? Yeah right.

Listen to 32 year old Jamie(lady)from Lockport..."I feel that diseases are spread wildly in the gay community. If I were to live in "The Experiment" house I could really see myself taking several showers a day and using tons of antibacterial wipes and lotions." OK and then there's married Anthony who scarily enough is bringing up young children. "being gay is not a lifestyle it's a mental illness".

Nice. We can't wait.

Unfortunetly I can't download anything on my comp, but I used to be a huge fan of the show Bob.

Anyways as for what Willow and Tara used to watch?

I think Willow was a huge Small Wonder fan, since she had a science fascination. Along with that tv show that was all about science for kids, does anyone remember that? Ohh..123 something...And also I think she related to Punky Brewster because of the hair. Oh and her and Xander used to watch Rosanne together.

And for Tara, I think she liked Kids Incorperated, Family Ties and the Cosby show.

Okay, and as for questions...

Yes, I did meet Alanis once. She wasn't part of the cast during the season I worked on the set, but I came back for a couple of days the next year and she was there.

And I'm also in the background of the "XRated" clip. I'm the guy in the white sweatshirt sitting behind Alasdair.

You may have heard the story about the Nigerian woman sentenced to death
for having a child out of wedlock. She will be buried up to her neck.
Then her punishers will surround her and throw rocks at her head until
her skull is crushed and she dies a painful and horrible death.

I have attached the link to the Amnesty International site. On the
right-hand side, there is a letter to the Nigerian president which you
can sign. The woman has 30 days to appeal against her sentence. It takes
less than one minute to sign the letter.

Please sign the letter-- hopefully the power of
numbers can help this woman.

Okay, nothing to do with anything here.....but the title of this thread made me remember something ;)

Does anyone remember the tubs of green slime you could buy when you were a kid? I think it was like the end of the eighties or something....

Everyone at school used to buy it and pretend it was snot, until someone threw up one time and it was banned... Well, wasn't that a lovely story.... :hmm

See I didn't have Slime I had Gak. In fact, I still had some up until last year when I found it and it was almost all gone, it like evaporated or something, so I threw it out.

And Bob, thanks for posting the link to those clips. It was like a time warp back to when I was a little kid. I seem to remember seeing the Cupid one before, but it may be that I just recognized the girls in it. I recommend keeping the Robin Hood clip, I thought that one was good.

Actually it was a must have accessory for Dutch kids in 1979 as well. Unfortunately I never was lucky enough to own a pieve of slime. I remember the cold slippery feel of it though. Ah the things I remember...
We only had the green stuff though, I would have loved to have that disgusting brown stuff with the bits in them as well.

Hi Kittens,

I just read this article and it's about the lack of racial minorities on television this fall season. Apparently, there are three new dramas set in San Francisco but only one Asian American character in the bunch (Asian Americans account for 30.8% of the population in SF). Also, ABC and Fox are scheduling their successful African American shows against each other. What an industry.

I'm not sure if it's too late to write to the networks, but I think I will just on principle.

Here's the link:

sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...175805.DTL

As for what shows Tara and Willow watched, I think they watched You Can't Do That on Television and Adventures of Pete and Pete.

So I got a TiVo this past week and just got it all set up and sort of programmed on Friday. Gave it some stuff to think about, picked some stuff to record, told it to look for a few actresses, the usual. Well, when I got up this morning I found that the machine was busy last night recording some stuff it thought I might like - first on the list "But I'm a Cheerleader" with the one and only Joel at his flaming best. It made me laugh.

However I am still trying to figure out why in the world the machine keeps thinking I might want to watch "Lassie"...

Completely OT. My mom, yesterday, came up to me sort of uncomfortably. She asked me if I knew that rainbows were the symbol of the gay/lesbian movement. I nodded, amused, and asked why.

She'd gone away with her best friend for a couple of days, and they went into a lesbian pub (lol with no idea that it was lesbian. Trust me, [b:a01274fe89] no[/b:a01274fe89] idea, or she wouldn't have gone in.) She owns this tie-dyed, rainbow hair thing that she always wears, and walked into the pub wearing it. She went to get a drink, and two different women tried to pick her up. LMAO

It freaked her out, needless to say. But the funniest part is that she had no idea about the rainbow 'subtext' (if u will), and she knows that I have a lovely big rainbow flag. Hmm wonder what she's thinking ATM ;)
