It's D-Day Tuesday MKF 7/22

Postby WiccansIllusion » Mon Jul 22, 2002 7:11 pm

Well, it's midnight and I'm on for 8 hrs without water or anything for four wisdom teeth being pulled in the morning. So that got me thinking...

How would Willow help ease Tara's pain from having four teeth pulled? feeding her ice cream in bed? anyone else have any ideas?

Yay! I'm in the states again! Woo hoo! Thanks for all the welcomes back in the weekend thread.

I think that Willow would try to think up fun ways to distract Tara from the pain. A striptease maybe? Or reading her a story.

A tip for the best way to keep wisdom teeth pulling swelling down: buy some bags of frozen peas (buy 4 bags of them). Put one on either side of your face, because they're peas, and not bags of ice, 1. they won't melt all over, 2. they're not as painfully cold as ice can be and 3. they mold to your face and keep everything nice and cold. When one bag gets too cold, stick it back in the freezer and grab a new one. Works really well. When I got my wisdom teeth pulled, I even fell asleep with the bags on my face.

Hmmm, well I think if Willow had just had 4 teeth pulled, Tara would check the kitten board and learn about the importance of bags of frozen peas and would stock up on those.

Then Tara would light a few scented candles, catch MKF and put her on the bed next to Willow. Next Tara would begin a slow many hour long body massage, starting from the tips of Willow's fingers and toes and very very slowly working her way into Willow's body.

Eventually Tara would want to cook something for Willow so she could see Willow's yummy face, but I suppose after having 4 teeth pulled food doesn't sound so yummy. So Tara would have to figure out something else that she could do to put a yummy face on Willow. Hmmm, yummy.

On a totally different note, I am happy to report that Broncos Training Camp opens on Friday the 26th --- ahhh, the lovely smell of Greeley in the summertime. And in today's Bronco's news, Broncos' quarterback Brian Griese restructured his contract to free up cash to allow the signing of our top two draft choices. :grin

And I'm happy to report I'll be enduring the smell of Greeley to hang at training camp for a bit this year. :) I'll be sure to post a most excellent report. I know at least one person will be reading with interest.

Ughhaving four wisdom teeth removed was probably the worst physical experience of my life. It was much worse than breaking my foot three times and having various surgeries. Of course, I didnt know about the frozen pea trick at the time. I just used blue ice and I still couldnt eat anything for a week. All I did was drink Meritine. Blech! The bruises didnt go away for a month. SorryI guess thats not exactly encouraging, positive feedback, eh? I suppose Tara would probably have to feed Willow applesauce and soup for a few days and give her some TLC.

The Lions training camp is closed to visitors this year as theyve moved to a new facility, so there will be no be no lovely smell of Saginaw in the summertime. This is probably a good idea because who wants to watch a pathetic 2-14 team practice anyway?

Geez, four teeth at once?? That's crazy!

I mean, if your teeth, especially wisdom teeth are pulled, that leaves big holes, wounds in your mouth. I had 5 teeth pulled and have still one to go. All 5 were pulled at different times over the years. I thought it was common to pull them one after the other.. it's to much a shock for the body if not, that's for sure.

So, heh, good luck! I recommend a lot of Paracetamol ;)

Oh I had mine pulled many moons ago as well, in 2 sessions. First the left, the procedure, including the needles for the local anesthesia was painless, but then it started to wear off. [img:9db6b7110f]http://www.westwoodi.net/~smilies/cwm/3dlil/ugh.gif[/img:9db6b7110f]

Of course the thought of taking painkillers totally did not occur to me. Then when I had my right side done I still did not think of painkillers. Every so often I really am not the brightest bulb. So might I recommend taking some painkillers *before* and eh hot soup afterwards is [i:9db6b7110f] not[/i:9db6b7110f] such a bright idea either. Hehe. I had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled at once while I was happily unconscious a few years back. And then it was "bring on the pain killers!" My first experience with 'em. Good ol' codeine. I kept a dream journal the whole time I was on that stuff, scribbling madly into my little diary only half-awake, sleeping as I was almost all the time for the first two days or so. The dream log is um... interesting. I actually have a few excerpts from it in the self-published collection of my work that I put together last year. Hehe.

And speaking of fucked up in bizarre ways type dreams... this morning just before I awoke I was dreaming that my sister and I traveled to London to go scuba diving, and had to turn my mother into a tse-tse fly so that we could inflate her with oxygen (only after being a tse-tse fly could she then turn into a plastic oxygen tank that filled up like a balloon). Very disturbing, in an oddly light-hearted kind of way.

I think Tara would make Willow all kinds of soft things to eat once she was up for food. Pudding, mashed potatoes, and of course the obligatory runs to 7-11 for Slurpees, Slurpees galore. Seriously. I lived on 'em for two days at least after my WT surgery. Luckily we lived right across the street from 7-11, and my roommate was nice. :)

Heehee. WT surgery. [i:505dc6bd07] Julia imagines a surgeon standing over her prone, unconscious form requesting surgical tools like "Sassy Eggs," "Big Pineapple" "Sponge... for Moose..."[/i:505dc6bd07]

But back to the question at hand... I think Tara'd keep as near to Wil as possible, too, while she was recooperating immediately after the fact, just to lend the comfort of her presence. Reading in bed while she slept, or just laying with her. I mean, let's face it... Willow's dreaming mind + pain killers, and on the Hellmouth... that could take her to some pretty freaky places.

But if you are unconcious when your teeth are pulled out you miss all the fun sounds it makes. I won't describe them, don't want to scare anyone .. but trust me that it is pretty disturbing. And once the tooth is out you feel that there is something missing, all empty in your mouth.

And then the dentist shows you the bloody tooth, yum.

Stay awake, really, it's all nice :grin

I've never had wisdom teeth removed and I think mine grew in with no pain at all which makes me lucky or very mistaken.

Good luck having them removed, I have had people tell me it was the most painful procedure they ever had.

WiccansIllusion - take care of yourself and I hope that you aren't in too much pain (yes, codiene is very, very nice....) *hugs*

La - Welcome back to the states! :)

Well, another day and more work. Joy. I was so miserable yesterday! Oregon doesn't have airconditioning in a lot of residences and it was up to 99 degrees yesterday. Our apartment is one of the NOT airconditioned places. *laugh* I drank four glasses of ice water and could only eat a salad for dinner because it was so hot! I really feel sorry for my neighbors though... they have a month old baby girl. Poor thing.... :(

Well, Willow would have Dawn or Buffy make the slurpy run while she kept Tara's mind of the pain in .... other... ways. :)

Have a wonderful day, kitties!

I think it's interesting that WiccansIllusion's scenario was that [b:8e39cee2fd] Tara[/b:8e39cee2fd] got her teeth pulled, and Willow was caretaker. People just can't resist seeing Tara as Earthmother, can they? ;)

I think Willow would want to get Tara's physical sensation as far from her aching jaw as possible: foot massage! And if the painkillers were kicking in, and Tara was feeling sleepily erotic (and we all know where Willow's hunger lies!), then Willow might naturally work her way north from the feet . . . :blush

WI, I hope you're "feeling no pain" by now. My own experience w/ wisdom teeth-pulling 15 years ago was mixed. My parents El Cheapo dental plan didn't include a full knock-out. I had them done in two sessions, upper and lower. The upper went fine: Novocaine for the pulling, and just some Tylenol afterward.

The lower were a much different story. :\ They were impacted and, to paraphrase DMW, "Novocaine not gonna cut it." I was wailing so much after the right one (the less impacted of the two) was yanked , that when the [i:8e39cee2fd] Good Doctor[/i:8e39cee2fd] turned to the left, I pulled a "Roberto Duran": [b:8e39cee2fd] No mas![/b:8e39cee2fd] Hence, my left lower wisdom tooth is there to this day (and my dental health is none the worse for it).

WI, hope you remember none of this! :grin

GG [i:8e39cee2fd] Didn't know about frozen peas back when my teeth were pulled, but can testify of their pain-easing use for other things (like a strained back - Ouch!)[/i:8e39cee2fd] 8o Out

I had all four pulled at once a couple of years back and I got to say that laughing gas is the best thing ever...I was feeling no pain and I don't remember anything about the procedure. But once that wore off...ouch. The peas work very well as ice packs, my only advice is to keep your tongue off the stitches cause I actually ended up pulling one of mine out cause it itched so much.

I see Willow as the afraid of the dentist type, so I think it would have taken a lot of convincing (and tummy rubs) for Tara to actually get her to have the teeth pulled. Which means that afterwards, Tara would have to do the full out Willow pampering.

I thankfully didn't have a hard time when I had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled several years ago. I wasn't unconscious, though they promised I would be. I don't know what they used on me, but supposedly it knocks out like 90% of everyone. I was one of the lucky 10% that it didn't (I'm always in the lucky 10%, how is that?), so I got to hear all the grinding and feel all the tugging. Yeesh. But the pain afterward just wasn't bad for me. Neither was the swelling or bruising. You could hardly tell. But the best part was the Percocet. A finer drug I've never personally encountered. Lovely stuff. Sigh.

Anyway, looking back I'm even kind of glad that I wasn't knocked out. I've since developed a total phobia of being put under for surgery. Control issues. Must be.

Oh, people have had really bad experiences with teeth removal. Mine wasn't so bad. I have only had one tooth removed to allow my wisdom teeth to grow in. Unfortunately, it being a healthy tooth it was really hard to remove so the dentist ended up standing on the arm rests of the chair to give himself leverage to pull it out. Fun. Oh and having been slapped soundly with the idiot stick I had this done on my lunch break from work. Then went back unable to take pain medication as I work with machinery. May all lesser morons bow before me. It actually wasn't that painful as I recall.

If Willow had a tooth removed I think she'd want lots of TLC with Tara running after her fetching her soup and flashing her to help her keep her mind off the pain.

I think Tara would be more inclined to want to be left alone to get on with it. However I do not see Willow passing on the opportunity to spoil her honey so some mock grumpiness from Tara would be likely to occur.

WI - I'm glad it went well and I hope someone's fetching you ice-cream as I type.

I was lied to :( and told that I was one of the rare few that didn't have wisdom teeth, **skip to a few years later** NOt only do I have wisdom teeth, but I have to wait quite a few years 10maybe more to have them removed, till it's safe, because apparently my wisdom teeth are growing up into my sinuses and it wouldn't be safe to remove them now. Yes, lets wait til there bigger **major sarcassam** Big thanks to the Dentist >: :rage
