It's Flying to Family Fun Friday, Miss Kitty Fantastico!

Postby BBOvenGuy » Thu Jun 27, 2002 9:12 pm

Good morning! :grin

Hey, it actually [b:3038bbe5f8] is[/b:3038bbe5f8] morning here in Southern California. I'm doing my usual routine to get ready for a trip. Run around like crazy all day taking care of stuff, start packing around 11:30pm, collapse into bed for a few hours, get up early to make it to the airport and then sleep for half the flight. :D

I just hope I can get out of the airport tomorrow. The Cajon Pass is on fire, and that's in the general vicinity of the Ontario airport, which is the one I use. Planes can still take off when there's lots of smoke in the air, can't they? :shock

My trip's going to be a busy one. Tomorrow and Saturday I'll be in Indianapolis with my parents, and also with my dad's older sister and her husband, who are in town for a class reunion. Then on Sunday my parents and I drive up to Kalamazoo MI for my grandfather's 90th birthday, which is Monday. The younger of my mom's two brothers lives there with his wife - they moved my grandfather there recently because they wanted him in a retirement home that was near someone in the family. My sister and her husband will be driving over from Grand Rapids, and I think a part of my mom's other brother's family is going to be there as well.

Do you think there's anyone in Tara's family that she'd like to go visit? What strategy would Willow and Tara use the night before starting off on a trip?

Have a great day, everybody! :bounce

I'll be checking in from time to time while I'm gone, but if I don't see you, have a good weekend and first half of next week, too!

hehe, Kalamazoo. My dad used to have to go on business trips to Kalamazoo and when I was in elementary school I always thought that was such a funny name. :grin Until I heard Sheboygan.

Bob, hope you have a great time. Maybe Tara has a kind aunt or grandmother somewhere that she'd like to go and visit. But now we're never going to find out... *sigh*

Bob - don't know about you but I love big family get togethers. Yes, there are usually fights and disagreements about something someone said 25 years ago - but there's nothing like family.

I can't imagine that Tara would want to visit any of her family unless she was visiting her Dad in prison to let him know that she's glad he can't hurt her anymore.

I see Willow as a "list" girl when it comes to travelling. You know the kind of thing. She'll make a list of things to pack, things to organise, contact and emergency phone numbers (and she may even highlight them with a series of different coloured pens).

Tara is more relaxed. She'll probably run WIllow a nice warm bath the night before to try and get her to relax.

That's so weird. I've actually been to Kalamazoo. As have my parents. I think it's the name. All we have over here is Cholmondoley. Or something like that.

Um...I suspect Tara has a nice auntie from her mother's side that she hardly ever gets to see.

Or you know, a long lost relative in the UK. Sigh. I freakin' wish.

Ah well, I am going to try and purchase a new sim card for my cellphone today without it being a huge chore and costing a lot of money. Although my phone has already been mocked by my sister because it's a few years old and you know, it's not the size of a thimble. :rolleyes

Sisters. Mothers. Bleh. ;)

Well,

I just heard on the radio that Who bass player John Entwistle was found dead, looks like a heart attack.

You know I really should stop getting surprised when rock stars, especially aging ones, die. But this one was a surprise.

I saw the Who back in '88. I spent an obscene amount of money and called in many favors. But I got 8th row tickets. Had to drive to St. Louis to see them. Basically I got off of work, got in the car, drove, saw the show, came home, changed clothes and then went back to work.

But it was one of the best shows I ever saw in my life, before or since. The Who had such stage prescence. But despite what ever was going on on stage, Townsend beating his guitar within inches of it's life, Daltery screaming like a banshee or even Moon in early days being, well Kieth Moon, off in the corner, quiet, but pumping this incredible sound from four string was Entwistle.

I always thought he was one of the best bassists in rock and roll. I mean really, name another bassist that can actually play the bass like a lead guitar. Sting, maybe. Getty Lee from Rush. Possiblly Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I'll miss John. The Who showed that they could go on without Moon, but it was obvious they had lost something. But I don't think that they can go on without Entwistle, not now anyway. It will be interesting to see what they do for this new tour which was to start today.

Well I'll raise a pint to old "Thunder Fingers", "Ox" and "The Most Powerful Man in the World" tonight. I think I'll throw some Who on the old stereo. Maybe I can find my LP copy of "Tommy" or "Who's Next" somewhere.

It seems like a lot of famous people have died this year. More so than normal ... Or maybe there are just a lot of older famous people these days ...

Anyway, there's another survey for women (straight or gay or anywhere in between) about body image and eating disorders: www.hostedsurvey.com/takesurvey.asp?c=INLIUB1. Thought I'd stick it in here instead of making a whole new thread for it and having it most likely moved ;)

okay, now the link seems to be working :)

I imagine that there might be a favorite aunt or uncle on her mother's side that Tara would love to visit. Willow would probably make a list of everything that needs to be taken care of for the trip.

its sad that the bass player from the Who died. there sure seems to be a lot of rock stars dieing lately.

hope you have fun on your trip BBOvenGuy.

Couldn't find the LGBT news thread, so I'm posting this here.

I am really glad they convicted this guy, especially since he tried to blame it all on his dead ex's lesbian lover.

Well don't you know? Evil [b:6119a7e0d7] and[/b:6119a7e0d7] gay. The two clearly must go hand in hand.

Ah yes, unleash the bitterness inside. Taste the dull monotone of non-fruit flavors. Ahem.

What would willow and Tara do the night before they leave.
I cant belive that no one has said this yet, HAVE SEX, when staying with relatives its always difficult, and can be very embarrassing :lol

I agree that willow, like myself would be a list girl, but i think that Tara would watch her and just think about how cute she is and how much she loves her, ok I admit it, i have been reading to much fan fic

Have fun Bob.

Edited to add - The spell checker seems to have erased half my post!!!!! Did i do something wrong.

'Evening everybody!
I once had a pretty sick Family Fun Monday, we went to a Theme Park with a DonQuixote Riding spectacle where the riders dueled each other. One horse happened to ride in the wrong lane and the 2 riders + horses actually collided. We thought "wow , good FX, how did they manage that without hurting someone?". Don Quixote spat teeth like a popcorn machine...
I like that that visual image....
Soooo, did someone actually manage to tape "The Price of Milk"???
Bye, Tina

I also think that Willow is a list girl. Tara would probably spend most of the time trying to keep her calm.

I was watching VH1 and I noticed that they played two Who videos in a row and I became extrmely worried because they only do that when someone has died. That's when I saw the text scroll by on the bottom of the screen. I actually came online to add that to my website (actually it's a website for my school's literary magazine).

I love The Who. I grew up in a house where there really wasn't ever any music playing so I had to find my own bands and music (I'm only 17). and I have loved every Who song that I have ever heard. So in watching the videos they put on part of the NY concert for emergency workers and I just stared at them with my jaw to the ground and said. "Now that's rock and roll, when your pushin' sixty and still able to play guitar like that."

It's not the way that you want to start your day. Actually I'm going to be doing some traveling of my own. I'm going to be going to Wagner College for two weeks to take theology classes (That's right religious and bi) I should start packing because I have to leave tomorrow. I'm a list person myself. If only I had my own Tara to keep me calm. :blush

This was what the rest of my post said:

I wasn't really around when The Who burst through, but iam sad that he has died, it seems to be a worrying trend that musicians are dying to young (i know he wasn't young/young, but he wasn't old/old).
I do know all about Keith Moon, he was a wicked drummer.
John Entwistle will be sadly missed.

Hey!

I just posted something new in The Willow/Tara merchandise thread, pub106.ezboard.com/ftheki...8&stop=300 about showing our support for W/T by buying products from people that support Willow and Tara. Please check it out!

Also I am going to be away from my computer for a bit. So you won't be seeing me next week. I am not giving up the good fight, I am taking a much need break.

So have a great weekend and a good fourth for all the American Kitties out there!!

Bob, I think you used up your allotment of Fs in the thread title. You have to give some back (hehe). Have a great time on your trip.

And enjoy your down-time, Tim. We'll be here when you get back. :)

I had a basketball coach from Kalamazoo - that's the only person I've ever known from there. Aren't you glad I shared that? :grin

I'm in a weird mood today - that's usually very dangerous. I should probably get off the board now.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I was in Kalamazoo just last weekend. Its hard to drive from Detroit to Chicago WITHOUT going through Kalamazoo. I also have 2 co-workers who attended Western Michigan University, which is located in that lovely town.

I have to agree with others that Willow would probably be a list girl. Maybe I could enlist her help to get my Toronto Trek list updated. Tara would be in charge of keeping things on an even keel. Im not sure whom they would go to visit though. I dont think Tara would be in a hurry to spend quality time with Cousin Beth. As far as Willow is concerned, she doesnt seem to be especially close with her blood family, so I dont think theres anyone she would be anxious to visit. Maybe when Dawn goes off to college out of state they could pack up the SUV and head out to see her.

Im off to see Melissa Etheridge tonight. I wonder if Willow and Tara would go to see her in concert?

Hey Rosenberg, hope you have a fantastic time seeing Melissa Etheridge tonight. You've managed to bring back some great memories for me.

I went to the US about 12 years ago on a school exchange programme (to a place called Adams, MA), and the girl I stayed with was a huge Melisaa Etheridge fan. Have to say I also became a big fan, but she's not that big over here (UK), so I've lost track of what she has been up to. This makes me feel really old though coz I've only got her stuff on vinyl! I think I'll have to investigate updating these tomorrow.

On the subject of trip planning, Willow woud defo be a list girl... she's probably got a nice little spreadsheet to check things off.

well, we seem to forget about her mothers side of the family, whom i'm sure are a cool bunch. And i'm sure there is some people on her fathers side that give a damn about her.

Lets not pretend, however, that i'm typing here for any reason other than to see if i've cracked the signature thing...

First Bob have a fun and safe trip! As for the question there might be a favorite Aunt on Tara's mother side she might want to visit, but I have feeling "family" to Tara might mean a neighbor who was kind to Tara as a child. This "Auntie" would be like a second mom to Tara, and she would hide-out over there when times with Donny and her father got too rough.

As for a strategy for a trip, Willow would be in list mode. Different lists (in different colored pens) for what clothes are in what suit-case, maps arranged in order to what sites they will visit on a particular day, and etc. Tara would look at Willow bemused, and then have to massage Willow's body to get her to calm down.

Fortunately, my aunts and uncles on her side of the family are all very interested in hearing about my writing, and I'll be seeing them all starting Sunday.

Oh, and there's absolutely nothing in this house that's safe for me to eat. I'm heading out to the Wild Oats Market in the morning.

Gotta disagree about the driving. Having seen Willow give passenger-seat attitude in both [i:9229b58781] Triangle[/i:9229b58781] and earlier in [i:9229b58781] Band Candy[/i:9229b58781], I think Tara would want to spare herself, and let Lil Miss Control Freak drive. Provided, of course, Willow keeps her hands on the wheel . . . believe it or not, that was a magic, not a sex reference! :p

My wife and I are going out of town next week, she's finally going to meet my family. Its been five years and she's only met my mom and sister, everyone cross their fingers, my family not exactly gay-friendly.
