The Kitten Charity Auction benefiting the Trevor Project

[/b:a5081e262f]

[img:a5081e262f]http://kittenboard.com/auction.jpg[/img:a5081e262f]

The Kitten Charity Auction is underway!

We plan to begin our auctions on [b:a5081e262f] Wednesday, August 21, 2002[/b:a5081e262f]. The auction will run ten days till [b:a5081e262f] Sunday, August 31, 2002[/b:a5081e262f].

So use this time to get your items all in order.

Ok. This is going to be an Ebay auction. So you will need an Ebay account.

For item you are selling for the auction we request that you put the Kitten Charity Auction graphic on your page somewhere. If you need help please feel free to ask.

Once you have your page set up email web.warlock@attbi.com">web.warlock@attbi.com and he will put links up to your items to make it easier for people to find them. Any items that you are selling that are not for the auction just leave off the graphic.

For payment, you can use whatever works best for you. Given that the Auction is set to end on Aug 31, I would suggest PayPal or money orders so you don't have to wait for checks to clear the bank.

If you don't have an Ebay account, or for some reason you can't set up an auction for yourself (there could be a lot of good reasons) then please contact Web Warlock, web.warlock@attbi.com">web.warlock@attbi.com or Rally at rallyv@yahoo.com"> rallyv@yahoo.com and they can run it for you. You can discuss in the email about how you can do this.

Things to help make your auction experience better.

- If you can get digital pics or scans of your items. If a picture is worth a 1,000 words, then it is also worth a few extra hits on your auction.

- Try to accurately describe your items. Give condition, including any shelf wear or odd marks.

- We are all listing our items on Wednesday. But since the Kitten is global any time is good, but having an auction that ends during Ebay's peak hours is best. Often you make your most money in the last minute bids. This is between 4:00pm and 7:00pm PST (-800 GMT).

- Use Ebay's own seller tips. pages.ebay.com/help/sellerguide/index.html and pages.ebay.com/help/sell/index.html

- If you have a lot of items, consider Mr. Lister, pages.ebay.com/services/buyandsell/mr.html

- Make sure you place your item in the correct category. listings.ebay.com/aw/listings/list/categories.html

Okay, here are the items I listed on eBay. Hope these links work; if not, my eBay ID is ty2che.
Anyway, here are my items. Bids are most welcome, and I accept PayPal as well as credit cards.
James Marsters & Amber SFX:

Girls of FHM 2001 (Aly and more):
cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1557728683

Oh, and I should mention that the first item on the list (the James Marsters SFX) has a quote from Amber (namely "Alyson Hannigan is a frickin' amazing kisser!') on the spine. Just thought I should mention that in case it's an extra selling point for anyone. ;)

i'm one of the webmasters of www.buffyverse.de and seriously - i had absolutely no idea that there was a charity auction going on here. i only found out about it this morning, when i checked the referrers on my site and saw all the links to this board.

we've been planning these auctions for a long time - actually we wanted to do it around christmas, but since there have been all those devastating floods in germany during the last weeks and many families lost their homes, people really do need the money right now. so we decided to push it forward.

we never meant to imitate you or put up some competition - since we are going to sell a lot of german stuff, I don't think there will be any dilemma. ;)
I think it's a great thing you are doing here - so keep up the great work. :)

Liv,

You put my German to the test this morning! ;)

We don't consider you competiton at all. Ours has been in the planning stages or discussion stages of some form or another since May, so we do get that these things are not thrown together over night!

Ich hoffe Sie habe gutes Glck auf Ihrer Auktion! Dass tut mir lied, mein Deutch is nicht gut.

Yeah I had 5 years of German...12 years ago.

YAY!!! :bounce

I think it's absolutely fantastic. The Kittens are helping gay teens, the Buffyverse site is helping flood victims, the Witchblade fans are helping abused children and the homeless ... it's times like this that restore my faith in the human race. Warm fuzzies all over, you know? People can be so cool.

Especially sci-fi geeks. We kick ass. :party

Pip,

You are right.
Here are some of the auctions that have happened over the summer or are happening now. I am happy to say I have been a fan or watcher of all of these shows.

[b:6394b9ebfe] Farscape fans[/b:6394b9ebfe] raised $1,000 for their charity.
[b:6394b9ebfe] Forever Knight fans[/b:6394b9ebfe] raised an undisclosed amount.
[b:6394b9ebfe] StarGate fans[/b:6394b9ebfe] raised $6,565 in Canadian dollars and had matiching funds of $12,000 CND.
[b:6394b9ebfe] Witchblade fans[/b:6394b9ebfe] have just begun their auctions.
Here is their auction info, they are doing things a little different than us, so it might be worth a look. Besides, we are not in compettion for each other's dollars.
www.eric-etebari.com/onlineauction.html

and [b:6394b9ebfe] Willow and Tara fans, the Kittens[/b:6394b9ebfe] have in 4 weeks raised close to $4,000.00 and still have an auction to take into account!

This is what makes me proud to be a Kitten!

@ warlock

thank you for your understanding and the mail. :)
i'm glad you guys don't see the whole thing as some kind of competition. it wouldn't make a lot of sense anyway since all the auctions are charity and the more money we make the better it is.
i think all the sci-fi geeks (yes - i am one and proud of it) are absolutely great people doing stuff like that. i love your board and even though i have been a lurker i guess this was just a good opportunity to register and start posting. :)

ps: i think your german is really good considering you've learned it so long ago *G*

Hey!

I just heard from Jessie, the organizer of the Witchblade auction for "Holygrove and Habitat".

She has given us a nice plug on her Witchblade board.
pub83.ezboard.com/fwitchb...=181.topic

It is an Ezboard, so you all know how it works! ;)

They look like they are doing some real nice things as well. I sent her our wishes of good luck and she returned her board's.

See, Sci-Fi geeks do rule!

I have a dutch auction going, I need someone in the next hour, who likes trading cards to go bid more than $2.03 on one of the 5 dutch sets at this location:

SDCC Trading Card Grab Bag

I have a dealer trying to win all 5 sets and they are not even close in their bidding on the first four, but I would rather they not win any of the 5 sets.

Cards include:

An mini assortment of trading cards from San Diego Comics Con. Includes 1 pack of promo cards from Inkworks, which includes, BtVS, T2, Alias, Smallville, Osbournes, Angel and MIBII promo cards.
Also included 1 Fray trading card from Dark Horse comics and 1 each random card from Buffy Season 4, 5 and Evolution sets also from Inkworks.

Well the one set, is from Inkworks sealed, so its their sampler that has Smallville, Men In Black, T2, etc, but it includes the BtVS season 6 sampler that has the cast shot of S6 including Amber. My bonus is I will thrown in Buffy S4, 5 and Revolution cards, one from each set and I will do my best to make them W/T cards.

Dutch auction works like this, you have x amount of product, in this case 5. The highest 5 bids will win, no matter if you bid $5 and someone else bids $4 you have to pay what you bid. You simply may bid more to assure yourself of being a winner. Bidding low means you are risking not getting the product. This card dealer was trying to bid the lowest amount for 5 sets of cards. Obviously he did not pay attention to what others had already bid, because he wasnt even close to the first 4 sets. I already had Kitten buyers for the other sets that had way outbid him.

Thanks everyone I appreciate the support and I can work with you all on cards or whatever, that is my auction so depending on who wins I could send, I dunno Bronco's football cards or Witchblade or whatever. I just happened to pick up some extra Inkworks promos and wanted to share what I got in SDCC with the Auction and with the Kittens.
