I'm not sure if what I'm going to say has been said before, because there's 70 pages worth of praise that I can't go through. :buried

So my piece shall be: this is the best story that I'm reading right now. This novella style, where I'm just dying to get to the next chapter, is absolutely killing me in the best way. I'd be willing to read for 1001 nights if need be.

I also wish to praise your style. Because of the way that TV (and movies) are presented, I'm too used to reading fanfiction and wanting immediate gratification, in that I immediately want to see smoochies or slayage action, and extended bouts of story/plot filling is tedious. I feel that there is a little too much of writers trying to write their stories in the way that they see them in their head, which is in the visual language of TV. This doesn't translate well into the written word, no matter the skills of the writer.

However, the way that you write, which is much more like a novel, makes me happy to simply read it. Your attention to the feel of warm slippers over the shoes and other things that only writing can yield makes me giddy. While I'm continually frustrated by the actions of the characters (I'm dying without the advent of vicarious smoochies)--this is made tolerable, pleasureable, even, because it is so well written that while the gratification that I normally get by the end of a short movie or a few episodes of a TV show doesn't come, the continuing journey is a joy in itself and also in the reread.

There, that's enough effusing while trying to sound not insane. ^_^ :bigwave

PS. If the next chapter does not come up in the next three days, I may die. Or pine away. No pressure. None. Lala. :read

Cool update! :) I can't wait for the scene with Anya :lol

Hey, since you replied to me that Tara would not stop having the wrong idea about W & X anytime soon, I was wondering: do you have the story all/partly laid out or do you make it up as it comes to you? how many chapters are you planning to write? And finally, do you look like that :letter sometimes?

Okay, that's all for now, bye! ;)

Heather,

I'm glad you are feeling better. How is it possible that you are sick and still can write this amazing update? How do you do that?

You did it again!!! Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful, Amazing :love update. And about you being evil. Your not really evil just....... maybe in a sort of little way. I mean....... I was just complaining I wan't to see them so badly together and because you still don't... after 37 parts. But slow is good :wink if that means more to read!! I'm... I just think you are a little devil playing with the kittens in a GOOD WAY off course.

Grrrrrr I so know what Willow is going through ever single morning. When that xxxxxxx alarm goes off. You just want to throw that THAT thing out of the window soooooo badly. That's how I feel anyway. But thank God for black coffee that makes you ;) again.

There are so many parts I love about this update but there are two parts that are :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana One of them is:

Quote:
"See you then, then," Tara chuckled. She moved behind Willow to walk to the studio and the redhead turned her head slightly and arched her eyebrows, her jaw tucked into her shoulder as she watched Tara's hips swish as the blonde disappeared. Willow turned her head back forward, a smile on her lips, and she took a sip of her coffee. I wonder if she knows she--

Go Willow Go :glasses so cool Willow is our new swinging hips watcher now.

I can go on and on for hours how great this update and everything is but that means you need to read everything and that means that you won't update that fast so I'm leaving it by this. I so love Tara and Willow yup they are great!!!

Great update can't wait for more slowwwwww :wink updates. I so love them!!! even if it kills me!

Heather,

You know, reading your feedback to the readers is an education itself. That this thread is probably the busiest and most eagerly anticipated is obvious. But you still took the time to patiently reply to each comment as if it were the only comment. Thank you.

I just want to say that my own anticipation of the eventual climax of Neverland is miles greater than anticipation on Star Wars Episode III. Give me Neverland anytime (and that's from someone who still has the original theater ticket for Episode IV, dated 28 January 1978). Why? Because Neverland has plot and characterization and story development. I don't care about fancy special effects anymore.

To the update itself, I love it that you gently broke it to us that it was a dream. Usually one can tell it's a dream a mile away, but when I read
Quote:
She reached out under the blanket and ran her hand along the thin material covering Tara's warm side, eventually resting her hand comfortably on the blonde's hip.

I was thinking, hey, they slept in the same bed last night? Hmm. May be they did, okay, I can deal. And then Willow snuggling into Tara's embrace, the mutual touching, the intimacy, I thought, no, this can't be, I was still in denial. Until kissage. Sigh. I woke up. But I still had to read the paragraph on Willow really waking up twice to fully convince myself it wasn't a dream. It was really well done.

Tara, on the other hand, seems at first to be gradually realizing Willow just might be feeling the same way about her and she has a chance. Then she goes and blotches it up by confusing the hell out of Willow on the Anya business. "Just walk away when she says something that makes you say something I don't want to hear" is probably too cryptic for Willow, my dear Tara.

And why do I get the feeling that Khalil is going to unwittingly play a part in preventing or delaying the proceedings. That Willow may have to stay home a little longer to solve some problem, so does Tara go ahead? Make arrangements to meet? Would Tara interpret (she's way over-thinking now) this as Willow not wanting her company?

Ack. My heart beats for an update.

A scented candle, a warm drink to keep away the morning chill, background music and an update. This is a wonderful way to start a day. I'm glad to see your feeling better and once again decided to share this great story with us, I enjoyed it a lot and can only agree with what others have said( better then I could) about how good it is. YES UPDATE! Great great great! I was counting on having the Anya meeting in this update but i wasn't disappointed that i have to wait. You showed that there were so many worries to have and things to think about before they even get there. I knew Willow would be worried about seeing Anya again but i didn't think about how it would be for Tara. Standing there with Willow at her side saying over and over again to Anya that she is straight. Knife trough the heart seems like a proper way to describe that moment. The way to try to prevent that happening was a little confusing for Willow but a nice try. I like the way you write Anya and i really cant wait to read the next update (even if the meeting then still doesn't happen). I am just hoping that Khamil doesn't ruin Willow's relax day!

The dream was simply wonderful :) The moment Tara turned up close by sleeping i knew it was a dream but it was still very nice. Tara reassuring Willow about her doubts was so Tara like :)

Again fantastic story and thank you for sharing!

Postby pipsberg » Tue Jan 18, 2005 11:17 pm

Heather,

I had to collect my thoughts and read the update again before commenting... I think that's only fair to the effort and art you have given us thus far. This was a wonderful update and I was so excited to read it. Though nothing much happened physically - one may even call it a coffee update - much simmered beneath the surface. There was a lot to contemplate.

I of course enjoyed the almost smutty Willow dream... how could I not? I really loved how Willow's semi awake state morphed into a dream, or was it a fantasy, about waking up with Tara. The gentle touching was beautiful and the conversation was more than intriguing. I love how dream/fantasy Willow works out some of her questions and worries with a version of her own Tara. The nice thing is, it's how I would see Tara responding were the situation real. The reader is momentarily wondering - did Heather just write a flash-forward?? But no, just wonderful descriptions of Willow's dream Tara who is in actuality, very real. And of course, Willow's thoughts upon waking are... does Tara possibly like me? YES... YES, SHE DOES. Love it.

Tara musing on Willow's loneliness was so achingly sweet. It was also terribly sad, that Tara automatically thinks that the only reason Willow wants to spend so much time with her is because she is lonely. If only Tara saw that she was worthy of all the love Willow is hiding from her... ugh!! I want to grab these girls (action figures only of course) and throw them in a spin cycle together until they merge. The way you bring out the internal angst and frustration is so madding and just... perfect.

And of course, them spending even more time together... I can't wait! The interactions just get more complex and convoluted at the same time that it makes my mind spin (in a good way). I really look forward to seeing Willow try to keep her head around Anya and all the delightful revelations she might bring about. Heather - thank you so much for the evolution of Neverland. It's a true playground.

I have to add my comments to the multitude already, though I don't think I have anything new to add, I think every praise under the sun has been bestowed on you, and fully deserving!!! All I can add is I am bowed over by how brilliant this fic is, and how I wish you can publish it when it's finished, because it's one that I would buy (in hardback and paperback and ebook and audio book) and recommend to my friends and proudly display on my shelf under "books I love."

Heather hiya

While reading this, it struck me how well you understand and utilize all the nuances that make up something so new... that it's hasn't even really begun, anywhere but inside. ( I'f that didn't make sense... well.. just consider the source.) The best thing I have to offer you, that even comes close to being considered feedback... is that when I read each new part of Neverland... it takes me somewhere. Each time the destination is different, but the trip is filled with things that make me feel, and think... and dream. As you know... we all need our dreams... so thank you :bow .

Whew.. So glad you're feeling better! Yah! You didn't fool me.. this time. So is turning to Dream Tara for advice becoming a habit (a very good habit) for the redhead? Sooner or later she's going to have to give up the dream.. for Real Tara. Yes I know.. you will say later.. much later. *grumble grumble* In the meantime.. coffee!!

This line had me ROFLMAO:

Quote:
"You could call the painting 'Leftovers' or something."

Absolutely delightful!

I love Tara's thoughts on how she and Willow 'fit' and her concern for Willow over the impending trip to get paint. For Willow, Dream Tara tells the redhead she won’t let anything too traumatic happen. Tara wants to protect Willow and Willow feels secure with Tara. They ‘fit’ physically and emotionally. You show us how strong this connection is with so many wonderful little moments. I love that about you. Now.. about the importance of titles.. I can’t help but contemplate the title of this very fic. Hmm.. Maybe someday you’re chosen title won’t be applicable to this story. A kitten can dream, right? My head is spinning with thoughts on the upcoming trip to the gallery etc. Looking forward to whatever you have in ‘store’ haha. Hmm.. “swishy hips” :D Always a pleasure to read updatey goodness! Thanks muchly :heart

Just wanted to let you know that I've been enjoying your fic. I agree with all the feedback particularly points of

-This fic is addicting. I came in late to the game but couldn't put it down until I was done.

-This fic is painful with the waiting for them to get together. You are such an excellent writer that when we see Will and Tara hurting for each other we share sympathy pains.

So I'll be on the look out for the next update and you can add me to your list of adoring fans.

So I thought that it would only be appropriate to make my first post as a non-lurker on my favorite fic of all time. I've been reading this since the very beginning and it's been like one giant emotionally frustrating roller coaster ride!! But it's been totally worth it as well. I'm addicted...hopelessly hopelessly addicted. Do they make a Fanfic Annonymous or something like that??

Anyways...I love your story and can't wait for more!

This has a become a huge guilty pleasure for me, honestly I check for updates everyday. I've really enjoyed the storyline and your character development is outstanding. Also, some really choice song selections:dance I look forward to further chapters, and our favorite girls finally realizing that they should in fact follow their instincts. And what exactly did happen in that park? Tara didn't want to hear Willow say that she would never kiss another girl ever again? C'mon, enquiring minds want to know. I guess we can wait though, I'm sure it will be worth it.:read

Tara Tara Tara... tsk tsk tsk. Shame she is going so in depth with the analyzing of Willow's intentions of being with her. She wants to be with you!! She likes you and enjoys your company! *sigh* She'll realize that someday right? I think she KNOWS that.. but maybe she won't let herself believe it.. because it could possibly inflict further emotions about feelings and whether Willow likes her and such.. We shall see..

Also the dream.. I was confused for a sec there. Damn me. haha, should've known better eh? ;) But yeah, it was sweet and so very realistic.. unlike a steamy dream like the previous one's. Those, too, are ALWAYS good and welcome, but I don't know.. something about the realness and emotional touch here.. just made it super sweet. Makes me want some candy. lol

I can't wait for moooooooore please :D Hope all is well with you, and of course I'll wait forever for this story.

Heather- wonderful update, yet again. One of these days, I will actually leave meaningful feedback, but I'm too tired right now :) I just have a little question that I could figure out myself, but again, too tired .... Willow's coming out to her mom and buffy the next day ... and I'm guessing to Tara shortly after that .... but when the heck is that? A week from when she decided, sure ... but ... where are we in that week? You know what I mean?

Yay! :)

My computer got screwed for a few days, and of course - right then Neverland is updated.. :) Not that I'm complaining, on the contrary..

It's always such lovely updates.. Your writing is true pleasure, and is very inspiring... And well, overall amazing ;) hehe..

About this update, it's funny how they both "fear" Anya and her big mouth. It's also totally realistic - to be with someone that you are in a tense situation with someone who is totally unpredictable can be nerve-wracking. You're always on your toes.

I loved the image of Tara, pondering about the day to come. It was a very true scene that captures small and thoughtful moments from life, and I very enjoyed it. Ahh, Xander slip again... Let me just say - I LOVE Xander in this fic.. seriously.. anyone remembers the Xs and Os talk? Willow's visit on the weekend? He was the sweetest guy ever there... I can't wait for Tara to realize what is actually happening and do justice with him.

And... about them practicing most sex-friendly areas in their place, I say... Let's get through this week, first! are we on day one or two? ahhh... achingly slow and wonderfully done.

Lovely. :clap

Re: New Fic - Neverland

*runs breathlessly into thread* Am I late??? Whew...thought I missed the feedback train. Very nice update, Heather. I like the direction Willow's dreams and Tara's thoughts are going. They're still a long way from being spot on, but they're heading in the right direction, at least. OF COURSE Tara likes Willow...only it's just a tad beyond like (sorta like the Grand Canyon is a tad beyond a hole in the ground). And OF COURSE Willow is lonely...she's geographically isolated from Xander, the one person who knows her secret; emotionally isolated from Buffy, who she's kept the secret from. Tara's asking good questions, she just doesn't get the big picture. Willow would be spending all that time with her if Buffy was around, cause it's not Buffy she's in love with. And as for Xander, she gave up on him a long time ago.

The buildup to the meeting with Anya has me really giddy. Anya can be such a catalyst, cause she does see so much (even it's not always correct) and isn't afraid to speak her opinion. I doubt you'll have her reveal anything TOO important (coz you're way too sneaky for that:p ), but considering the way their brain trains are running, she could either send them into high speed, or derail them completely.

I was hooked on this fic from the first update...and that was only last night! I couldn't stop reading...well I did finally so I could sleep, but I finished the last few updates this morning and now I'm sad cuz there isn't more to read right now, hehe. I guess I should've taken my time reading the updates, doing a few a day or something. I blame your amazing writing, it pulled me in and wouldn't let go :P This really is a wonderful fic and I'm really glad you decided to share your talent with us. I must admit it is frustrating at times, what with Tara having SO the wrong idea about Xander, and the fact they both feel the same way about each other but are both too blind to see it. I guess when you've convinced yourself that something won't/can't happen you become incapable of reading the obvious signs to the contrary, or something along those lines lol. But you promised it would all be worth it so I've put my trust in you :D
