Wow, another update so soon! What a treat :) Sorry for the somewhat late feedback. This was a very emotionally heavy. All the introspection and reflection was great. I love getting more insight on them, even though you already have given a lot of that. The Steven Segal drink is both firghtening and fascinating. I'm tempted to buy it in bulk and use it to fuel my car or clean the house. Sounds like powerful stuff! ;)

I see so much of my own life experiences and my friends woes in Willow's memories of her parents and her current interactions with them. It's great to see that brought to life here. I assume Willow is heading for a really tough spot, but hopefully Tara will be there to help pick up the pieces.

Thanks again for the lovely update. I look forward to more. xoxo

Heather,
Well, I almost missed this update because I kept thinking that the thread was still up top because of the last update. Boy am I glad that I didn't miss it though. It seems like both girls are moving closer and closer to figuring everything out. Now it's like a race: who will figure everything out and will they beat the great coming out of 2006?

I love that Willow has Xander to talk to even if her mother is suck a stick. It's good to know that he brings her back. I was even more thrilled to see Willow actually talking to Tara (once caught snooping that is). The whole time I was reading it I was thinking about how they could start just being nice, you know complimentary. I mean, just say, "it sounded beautiful..." or something like that rather than denying listening. And lo and behold she very nearly did that. Tara's giving W the painting was a wonderful gesture and now it seems that both are getting it.

Well done.

WOW and BIG WOW!! It’s hard to believe it’s been half a year between updates. Double update-y goodness!! I have taken forever to reply due to the shock of, first, seeing your name in the update thread, then, seeing it a second time so quickly. Recovered now. :D It was easy to become immersed in this epic tale once again. Not so easy to refrain from quoting every moment I enjoyed because, as usual.. I love all the moments. But I tried very, very hard and, thankfully, otherwise this would be twenty two pages long, resisted the quote-fest and settled for two. Yah!

Even if I wanted to paint, I have no idea what *to* paint..

If I had even half a cent for every time I felt like that I’d be a zillionaire!! Umm.. not with painting.. other stuff. ERK! I love the way your describe Tara’s desperate search of memories for that thing, that one spark of inspiration for a new piece, and the constant interruption of “Willow, Willow...” I also love the way Tara lost track of time with the art history book –-returning to her roots, so to speak, with warm thoughts of her mother and revisiting the original works that inspired her.

She remembered so acutely what if felt like to paint that painting, as if it had happened yesterday instead of three years earlier. Remembered how visceral and consuming its creation was. How the painting had almost suffocated and freed her at the same time. It was... everything.

I would LOVE to see, as Willow described it: “Just Paint”. I have a pretty good idea of what it looks like thanks to your wonderfully, detailed descriptions of the colors, brush strokes, previous works and, especially, Tara’s emotions while creating. Gotta say.. I don’t blame her for hanging on to it forever!! I wouldn’t be surprised if Ira already knows Willow is gay and has been trying to get Shelia to back off trying to run Willow’s life. !! :heart Heart :heart !! Love Willow cautiously moving forward to catch a glimpse of Tara while she’s singing. She really should have told Tara how lovely her voice is. Maybe there will be another opportunity for that in the morning? The chat before bed was absolutely wonderful. Hooray for Tara giving the painting to Willow! Awesome that she wasted no time in displaying the gift and drifted to sleep with thoughts of smiling Tara, special moments thru the day and of DreamTara from the previous evening. Are we going to catch a glimpse into one of Tara’s dreams during this story? And... What was in Willow’s envelope? It turned out to be a pretty nice day for both girls. Is it a good guess that Tara finally got her creative juices flowing? She will probably be working all through the night! Looking forward to the next chapter.. as always. I will wait another 6 months for an update if that’s what it takes, but.. please, please don’t make me wait that long!! Thanks, Heather.

Heather

I've been reading along with what seems like a large chunk of the world. You never cease to amaze me... this story from the beginning, to the current chapters.... it breathes. I'm so glad real life is your truest of callings, but also extremely grateful that you still nurture the world of Neverland.

I've missed you

Wow I come back after like a month of not being on the kitten (stupid step dad put a filter on taht didn't like the kitten) and there are two updates!!! TWO WHOLE UPDATES!!! YAY!!!

Sorry that there's no dancing in IT cause currently I'm not in IT but when I go back to school on monday I'll make sure to dance in the IT room as a tribute! IT makes me excited but nobody else likes it... cept maybe Jez and Sarge but we're the only ones.

Gah! they're still not together... it weakens my heart to see a Willow without her Tara and vice versa... Why oh why?! but Tara gave Willow the painting and there were smiles all round so yay! Lol I especially love the Sylvester Stallone pudding lines and then Xander replies with the Stephen Segal Energy drink line... tee hee!

OMG you have to write more and I will check for more, more regularly!

I really really REALLY love this story. I've re-read it at least 10 times...I'm an angst junkie and I'm so glad that its taking so long for them to get together. I think alot of people have a hard time writing a lengthy, angst-ridden story so smoothly just because after awhile they run out of angsty things to have happen, but you are a master of the angst. I love the misunderstandings, the awkwardness, the shyness, the mental smacks Willow and Tara give themselves....it all falls into place so beautifully and consider this me bowing down to you *bows down* You are really amazing, and you write beautifully. From beginning to end you keep the same pace, the same style, the same tone in your story and that's another thing I love. I'm pretty sure everyone can relate to your Willow and Tara in this story, because you keep it so true to real life..."Does she like me? She hates me...I'm bothering her, She's not even interested..." and so on forever....the questions we all ask ourselves and the mental scoldings we give ourselves when we are completely in love with someone but have no idea how they feel in return. And in a situation like the one you've written...where a person is so in love with another person and so afraid to let their feelings be known that they are completely blind to the fact that that person feels exactly the same way...It just grabs me the way you've managed to capture every single word, every thought, every fleeting moment in such magnificent detail with so much feeling. I've wanted to post you feedback for awhile but I've always been a lurker and I've just recently started posting...but now I'm happy because I've finally gotten the nerve to reply to this story. I really hope to see more of it soon!!!

I'm not going to spin pretty words, I have no ornate phrases or delicate speeches to give you.

I can only say that this story has a way of wrapping itself about your heart and holding tight. I am eager to read the next installment, and find myself thinking of your Willow and Tara almost as real people, not simply characters. As friends.
Which is, indeed, what any decent story should do.

I pray you will not keep us waiting so long this time, though I certainly understand. Much as this feels like real life, it isn't, and it simply won't do to forget that.

Tara is so so so... fascinating. I am in awe, entranced and eating words out of a dictionary cause she's just wow. (Oh and also because English is not my first language, but that's just a detail...)

I go to film school and I read a LOT of fanfics based on TV shows and animes and most of the time I can see how the stories resemble scripts. Well, most of my favorite ones do anyway... You know, that dramatic "curve" building up to the plot-points and stuff.

But this story is totally different and that's what I love about it. It flows in a completely different way. Time is also very... un-script-like. Sometimes it feels like it's been much much longer than 2 months... but at the same time it feels like it was less? I feel like floating in time.

The characters haven't changed much since the beginning, I mean, since it's only been 2 months and all they're still going back and forth with their decisions so I really don't know what to expect. Nothing really drastic happened yet, except for the whole party-at-Morgan's thing, and I can't wait to find out what will happen when Willow comes out. If she ever does, cause apparently the entire universe is conspiring against it. well, not the "it" specifically as her coming out, but more like anything that would bring her closer to Tara.

After lurking on this board for several months, it is about time I show my appreciation for the stories I have read and enjoyed and, in particular, for my favourite fic. I started reading it on Through the Looking Glass under the impression it was finished, it dawned on me eventually that it wasn't…

By then I was mesmerized by the quality of the story, the dialogue, the interior monologues, the detail, the wonderfully drawn characters, oh, everything!

The best Tara and Willow fan fics that I have read are those that would engage and enthral even if they weren't necessarily about Tara and Willow because of the quality of the storylines and situations.

I am looking forward to the moment when Tara and Willow finally realise that they are both in love with each other - I can wait (but I would prefer it if they are not in their 70s).

Thank you so much for writing this, Heather, I really appreciate it.

G'day, Heather.

It appears that this 'Real Life' virus you mentioned is infectious indeed. I copped a nasty dose, even over the Internet. How else could I explain the depths of the procrastination that has gripped me, procrastination that has even seen me miss leaving feedback on a precious update?

Oh yeah, right. I'm just a lazy git. :p

Thanks so much for the kind words Paul; hopefully the next one will be worth the wait too.

That's a big ten-four, good buddy! :grin

One thing I love about this story is the depth of detail you put into it, even the most banal of occurrences is happening. For example, you could have just said 'Tar brought in the mail. It was wet.' But that lacks a certain ... pizazz compared to your sublime prose, don't you think?

But yay for the impending clueage hanging over Tara's head. Methinks that when the shoe drops, the inscrutable Miss Rosenberg might make a whole heck of a lot more sense to Tara. But her confusion is understandable, because I think Tara's subconsciously trying to ignore what she's picking up on as a defense mechanism. She's always believed that Willow is straight, so whenever she sees something to through doubt on that believe she has to squash it, otherwise it will feed what she thinks is doomed to be an unrequited love.

Boo to her state of ... um ... painter's block? I can't think of a more appropriate term for the life of me.

The phone call with Dawn was a hoot, and gives the younger Summers sister something more than a passing mention, which is all she's gotten up until this point. I think. Let's hear it for Dawn, champion of any cause she can find! :grin

On to part 43!

:lol about the whole Willow 24 hour news channel concept. Sounds hilarious!

Oh dear, Sheila. I can get where she's coming from, but damn, that has to be annoying. It would bug the hell out of me if my mum tried that crap on me. :lmao at the Rambo pudding, especially when Xander got in on the act and added Steven Seagal to the act.

"But can you imagine how many ninjas and steroid-enhanced Soviet boxers you could take out if you paired the pudding with the drink?" The man asked, the excitement in his voice palpable. "You'd be unstoppable!"

:lmao :rofl

Tara giving Willow that she inadvertently inspired was sweet, especially since she could have used it to fill one of the spots that she is finding so hard to fill. Still, giving away something that doesn't mean anything to you is nowhere as big a gesture.

All in all, and forgive the profanity, bloody fantastic work, Heather!

Cheers,
Paul.

Hello there!

Heather, I'm terribly sorry to be so late, it's just my life got real crazy for a few months, between my school, my new job, my family, and some other things I'd rather not mention, my time was all consumed.

Ok, with that said, you have no idea how much I enjoyed these couple of updates, (that was the only good thing about being out of the board for so long, I got to read two updates)

You were absolutely right; they needed some time alone to process all the tensions, and the craziness of that day together. I understand how Tara felt unable to get any work done because your mind is filled with the object of your affection. It's really hard to concentrate.

Willow's mom I hope understands and sees that her daughter is just trying to be happy, and her happiness is next to another girl, a very beautiful one by the way.

Hey, where do you come up with the idea of the pudding? Is that true? I laughed very hard, couldn't imagine the guy advertising the product.

I loved Xander always making Willow smile, so fortunate to have a friend like that, someone you can call when you feel crappy and without even realizing it they make you feel better.

Well, Willow didn't get back on time for dinner but at least they had a nice exchange, lovely gesture of Tara giving her the picture, I hope that Tara can get something done now knowing Will is upstairs.

Little by little they're realizing how much they care for each other and people around them too. I can't wait for their morning, and Morgan's appearance, she's going to call and add some spice to the mix. Maybe it'll be good and our Will won't be able to stop herself and shout how much she loves Tara and...and I'm dreaming I know, whatever way you write it, I'm sure it'll be perfect, as the whole story is. I'll be waiting patiently.

My trip to SF has been suspended because I can't take a week off yet. I hope can go this year. I'll check those places out. Thanks.

Take care, be safe and good, lots of love, until next time.

Heather,

This calls for a WHEEEEEEE!!!! They are finally starting to pull their heads out of the sand...Or else witness the combustion of acts already set in motion. So why do I get the odd little feeling you'll find some way to stick their heads back in the sand? At any rate, I look forward to more angsty goodness.

A bit late with the feedback here...

Part 42

Tara sighed, and she realized just how much she missed Buffy.

I've actually been thinking this for a while now. Because I like Buffy. And because it might be nice for both Willow and Tara if Buffy was around to talk to.

I loved that Tara called Buffy. I'm not convinced that she would have actually got into the whole thing over the phone, but that she's considering talking to Buff about it at all was really really nice to see.

And since I'm not sure that Tara would have talked to Buffy about it, I'm very happy that she got Dawn instead. Because she gave voice to what I think Tara hasn't been able to bring herself to think about in regards to whole 'partner' thing. "Good luck with the straight girl." Woo-hoo, Dawnie!

Part 43

This has already been quoted, but it bears repeating.
She had given up trying to paint, or do anything even remotely productive in her studio, because her brain had apparently scheduled 'thinking about Willow' for the afternooon. It was like watching one of those obnoxious 24 hour news channels where the screen was so cluttered with disparete information that it was hard to concentrate on the main image. Willow ticker along the bottom, Xander stock prices in the upper left corner, the Buffy/Willow's mom infographic underneath the picture-in-picture of Morgan's smiling face. And don't forget the "breaking news" banner featuring Dawn's floating head... How could she concentrate with all of that tumbling around in her brain?

Hee! So perfect. Love it!

Aww. Tara singing Heart. What a great image. And her giving Willow the painting! So cute! I *heart* this story.

Great job, Heather.
