Doesn't seem to be any thread for music recommendations so I will post this and hope it stays up.
Bought 2 albums, both released 2008, last week and they are both stunning. Both of them could loosely be described as power metal although the musical quality is well worth checking out even if the thought of power metal turns you off.
"Avantasia - The Scarecrow" is a concept album of 11 individual songs. I'll give a couple of examples here of the songs so you can decide for yourself:

These songs may not be to everyone's taste (don't worry thee is no offensive lyrical content here) but I think they are good songs and a good indicator of the wealth of depth musically within each album.
