World of Warcraft

Postby gorn » Tue Aug 12, 2008 12:46 pm

I ran into a red-headed witch the other day called "Willow," and it got me thinking ... Are there any other Kittens out there unashamed of their nerdage? Who are you, and what Realm do you play on? If there are enough of us, perhaps we could reroll alts on the same server together, start our own Kitten Guild.

Uruvianon, Blood Elf Paladin on "The Scryers."
Naeryath, Blood Elf Warlock on "Emerald Dream."
Weiyaya, Tauren Warrior on "Emerald Dream."

Hey Gorn!

I finally got the damn thing up and running. Those stupid patches were killing me!

Alright, so I play on Uther, a cute little lesbian Gnome Mage named (duh) Foomatic, heh. I haven't gotten very far, just level 16 and still learning. I've been playing with some friends (who are responsible for this new found WoW madness), but that usually consists of me standing in the middle while they kill everything cause they're at a higher level than me. Occassionally I'll try to contribute, but I get hit or stepped on or something and I die and have to run ALL THE WAY back to my body. Sucks.

I'm down for a Kitten Guild!

T6? Impressive! I have yet to hit 70, and I've never done a raid. I play a lot, but I'm definitely what you would call a casual gamer. Enthusiastic, but casual. I think I spend more time just running around town jumping than anything else.

I can't seem to stop jumping. If they took that feature out of the game, I doubt I'd keep playing.

I can see how the game can be addicting, but I've heard that about a lot of things for a long time now. I remember all the stories back when I was in a school of some kid who committed suicide over something that happened in a MUD (anyone remember those?). If it wasn't WoW it would be something else, you know?

As for couples breaking up, well, I think in my short time playing I've heard just as many stories of couples meeting in-game and then getting married in real life. I personally know of several couples who play together; my best friend and his wife log in every night once their kids have gone to bed. He once told me if they weren't playing WoW, they'd probably be off in separate rooms watching different stuff on TV.

I don't know, I guess I'm just not the kind of person to blame an object for it's misuse. WoW is addictive, but so is anything fun. Alcohol, drugs, food. I just read this weekend Agent Mulder checked into some clinic for sex addiciton. Some people have no business getting involved with WoW, granted, but you can say that about damn near anything.

Yeah, impressive... *rolls eyes*

I met my ex boyfriend, now my best friend in the whole universe, through WoW. And I used to be in the same raid as my ex girlfriend. That was a long time ago, but we were probably one of those couples, that would NEVER do anything together but playing WoW. I know, it's really pathetic and sad and believe me I am so glad it is over.

I played for 2 1/2 years and have been in raids for 2 years. I was maintank some time, but being a resto-druid was soooo much more fun than hitting Ilidans feet all the time ;-) ...
My rl-friends stopped playing, because they did not want to do raids anymore and had no interest in arena-games or PvP in gerneral. So in may there was just me and a friend left, who wants to play Warhammer online and stop playing WoW.
I do miss it sometimes, when I'm alone or missing doing things with my friends, because they are so far away, but like gorn, I'd not do raids anymore and probably just jump around in IF or Shatt. ;)) (Used to do that a lot too, even though we had raids 6 times a week - crazy, hu?)

You are so right about the addiction-thing though. I'm sure almost anything can make you addicted to it. I'm an addict to loooooovvveeee. ;-)
Honestly, food, sex, work, coffee, drugs, alcohol, online games etc. all of them can make you addicted and some people are absolutely better of NOT playing WoW. For an addiction there always has to be a reason and someone kinda "weak" enough to get addicted. (No offense!)
It is a fun game though, when you limit it to casual playing and even better when you play it on a casual basis with friends...

T6 is as good as it gets, right? I'm decked out in all Greens, so I really wouldn't know. I piss my pants in excitement when I come across a Blue.

I got a great Blue drop in Shadowfang Keep shortly after I started playing ... I must've carried that sword exclusively for 25 levels. Almost cried when I finally stopped using it ... Even then I didn't have the heart to sell it, so I stashed it in the Bank.

Whoops, I take that back - I do have another Blue. The Fenris cape, also from Shadowfang.

Yes T6 ist the best equipment, yet.

Well I know what you mean with the blue items and stuff. When I first got my very first epic item for my warrior over 2 years ago (it was the T1 bracers) I screamed sooooo loud in my mic (we were always connected through Teamspeak) my raidleader had to rip off his headphones, cuz I think otherwise he'd be deaf today ;))
