Summary: A story of Vampires, gang-wars and love.

INTRODUCTION

The moon shone down, the world bathed in white, delicate enough to shatter into a thousand tiny pieces at the slightest of touches. There was a chill in the air as I turned down Green Lane. The familiar scent of petrol still lingered in the air, even at this time of night, of the many cars that packed the streets of London during the day. And inside packed like tinned sardines, people travel to and from work. The “Rat-Race” at full flow within the cosmopolitan, culturally diverse city that the Britain’s called their capital.

I was all but alone as I gently surveyed my surroundings. Terraced houses, like domino’s stood in rows down each side of the street, the odd window twinkling in the dark like little stars. A couple on a bench, sharing a moment of young love before they both go their separate ways again. A drunken man in a suit toppled past me, mumbling something under his breath. A businessman maybe his business collapsed into obscurity, as they were prone to do. Being left with nothing and hving to go back home ot his wife and kids? Or maybe there were other problems that had caused him to prop up the bar til way after closing time? A failed marriage? Having to go back to an empty house, devoid of the people that once made it a home. Left with memories of what once was and what might have been. Or perhaps a wayward son, who had nothing to look forward to but an early and violent grave. Or maybe he had lost everything he had ever known because he had given into to the guilty pleasures of hard liquor? I felt pity for him as he staggered down the road and into the distance.

No nothing had changed since I had been away, nothing ever does. The city just keeps filling up with people, the gulf between the rich and poor widens but nothing ever changes. No matter how the politicians or people in authority try to convince you otherwise. My name is Alexia Devonshire and it is here where I was born.

I can remember everything as if it happened only yesterday, even though it was so long ago. I feel compelled to write as some sort of penance as to what I’ve done. The story I tell to you now is full of twists and turns but all of them are true. For I am a nightwalker, a Vampire. Cursed for all eternity to stalk the earth feeding off the blood of what I once was. I have done some bad things in my life and unlife and whilst I do not regret everything I’ve done I want to try to put things right with those I love, for I fear I may not have another chance to do so. I do this for all of mankind, but mostly for Tobias, my maker, my lover and my life. All I ask is that you keep an open mind and I will convey to you the secrets of this troubled soul.

Very interesting. I like reading first person POV stories, and I also enjoyed your use of words to describe the city. Really looking forward to more soon. Thanks.:)
