**mollyig: Y'know ... this is part of what I love about fic-writing ... you got giddy when you realized they were going to play chess? Cool ;) And of course I delivered - what would the point be of playing chess otherwise? *G* And yeah - Willow's helpful like that ... she knew Tara hadn't played before (wink wink, nudge nudge), so she didn't want Tara to be confused about how the pieces worked on top of that. Heh ... too bad she had no idea Tara could 'beat the pants off of her' at chess.

**NewRuthRising: LOL ... sure you haven't. And having the pieces assigned is my own personal version I have not, as of yet, ever tried out. But it certainly seems like a Willow way of doing that. Ahhhh ... now I understand the GCSE ... or, at least, I'm comfortable not understanding it, 'cuz it's a British Thing ;) Have fun playing chess *G*

**Urn of Osiris: I think it's as good a reason as any to learn to play chess ... and yes, you absolutely have to love that girl. And the charts - oh God, the charts. Glad you liked it *G*

**peggy of sunnydale: Gosh, thanks - I'm really glad you liked it. The idea for this vignette came from 'Answering Darkness' (it's this really LONG story I wrote awhile back) ... as for why it was in 'Answering Darkness' ... I can't remember. I think it was just something that popped into my head pretty much at random.

**tkheaven: Thanks! And yes, yes you should. And you should report back how well that worked out. In detail.

**cassiopeia191: Images? Heh Heh Heh ... I'm always happy to hand out images ;) Glad you liked it, and thank you.

**IsayAmberBensonsgorgeous: Oh, you're very welcome - and thank YOU. And of course Tara won. Not that I expect her to win every game, mind you, but Willow was seriously underestimating her as a chess opponent. I expect that if/when they play again, Willow will have set her computer chess game to its hardest setting and read tons of chess books and practiced, practiced, practiced - then she'll whomp all over Tara. Y'know, in a non-violent chess way.

**SlayerTazz: Heh ... thank you. And that's a very strong plan - I heartily endorse this plan and think you should implement it immediately.

**Puff: Well, chess is fun. You should definitely give it a try. And yeah - Willow's a color-coded kind of girl, and you're welcome.

**The Big I T: LOL... yeah, I've pretty much decided Tara was from Montana ... as for the state chess champion part - that's part of the fun of writing Tara ... there's so much that's never said about her that there's lots of leeway to make stuff up *G* And yeah - Willow should definitely know better by now.

**areslei: Heh ... you're welcome *G* Enjoy your detail *G*And yeah - I just really like the idea of Tara having these hidden skills - it just seems like she's not one to brag, or really talk about herself much at all - so Willow really wouldn't have known she's really REALLY good at chess.

Loved the color coding chart, and am I remembering correctly that this might have been a missing scene from Answering Darkness?

See, you know you are deep into fanfic, Sass, when you start writing missing scenes to your own stories. :grin

I love it.

Edited to add: okay, it's not exactly a missing scene because as I recall, they were busted in on by the other Scoobs. But still....

This vignette gave me a :) , as well as lovely images :grin , thanks Sassette. Yes got to love Willow and her "colored coded chart". I have a feeling this experience (although quite enjoyable), will teach Willow not to underestimate Tara ;) , and I just love "vixen" Tara in this part. Also loved this exchange of Willow saying ("I've been had" with Tara answering "Not yet- but give me some time, and >then< you'll be had."), I have a feeling "strip chess" will become quite a popular pastime for W&T :grin . Really enjoyable moment, and I agree who knew playing chess could be so "sexy"/fun!

As someone who grew up in Montana I must applaud Tara's chess skills. :) Most I ever learned from my grandma was how to play pinochle, and I really don't think strip pinochle sounds fun.

As they say in... well, as I say, "Weee!" Excellent. And Weee! is an interjection, so I treat you to a song and a thesaurus entry.

**Miss1234Kitty: LOL ... Well, you can play chess with your sister, as long as it's not strip chess, y'know? And thank you muchly - glad you liked it *G*

**Tulipp: Heh ... color-coded charts are always fun *G* And yeah ... not a missing scene so much as a pre-cursor to that scene. Sometime, they played strip chess BEFORE the scene in AD where they play strip chess ... but you're right. I'm either WAY deep in the fanfic writing, or I'm running out of vignette ideas ;)

**Mrs Vertigo: Why, thank you *G* But apparently, not-so-original. This whole 'strip chess' thing is not a new concept ... and while I figured someone, somewhere, had to have thought of it before, I really didn't expect lots of people to start saying things like "Oh - well, >I< play strip chess with >these< rules." Seriously, this is cracking me up :D

**fairydust: Brings back memories ... *snicker* Okay, I'm just really finding this cool, in a sick sad and geeky way (my sick sadness, not yours ;) ). And personally, I have not tried the strip variety of chess, so I'll take your word for it *G*

**Grimaldi: Oh, yes ... this was definitely a win/win situation ... Willow has NO complaints about losing that game. And yeah, Willow shouldn't have underestimated Tara, but I figure this is the point at which that particular lesson was really hammered home.

**BoredNow99: Why, thank you *G* And yeah ... a naughty Tara is a lickable ... errr, I mean, >loveable< Tara. Poor Willow just wasn't expecting Tara to be such a chess shark ... Heh.

**VampNo12: HeeHee ... Imagines For Everybody! I should make that my new motto. Or I should write a book with that title. Hmmm ... And definitely ... Willow has certainly learned a valuable lesson when dealing with Tara: Never go up against a vixen when clothes are on the line. Unless, y'know, you like being naked. And thank you ... I rather enjoyed writing that exchange, so I'm glad you liked it *G*

**4WiccanLuv: Gosh, thank you ... I'm really glad you like them *G* Though, I think it's not so much my doing that W/T make chess sexy ... they could make anything sexy.

**kpmuse: LOL ... WooHoo! Go Forth, My Child, And Play Strip Chess! And you're welcome ... just goes to show, there are no losers in strip chess ... only naked people about to get some. Ooops ... did I say that out loud?

**xita: Heh ... thank you, xita. And that, right there, is the beauty of strip chess. Well, that and imagining Willow and Tara playing strip chess and removing articles of their clothing very slowly, and then with the ... uhhhh ... nevermind.

**tommo: HeeHee ... more than she bargained for, definitely ... lucky girl. And definitely innocent-looking Tara. Emphasis on the "looking". Heh.

**NewRuthRising: Ummm... don't ever tell me about the tongue studs, okay? I'm sure it's a very interesting story, but one of those things that would make my brain dribble out my ears *G* Have fun at the piercing place *G*

**Autumn: You're right ... strip pinochle seems rather ... wrong. Though it is one of my theories (I have lots of theories ... and WAY too much thinking time at work) that any game >can< be modified to involve stripping, but not every game >should<. And you're very welcome Autumn - I'll share all of my stripping stories with you *G* Well, except the time when ... ummm ... nevermind.

**Bookcat: Ooooh! Schoolhouse Rock! I love Schoolhouse Rock *G* Though (and I really hate to point this out), I believe you have already used this particular thesaurus entry. Not, mind you, that I'm complaining - because it's a darn good entry, and high praise indeed. I'm glad I can make you go "Wheee!" However, I just seem to recall seeing the word 'ejaculation' in this thread before, and I'm reasonably sure it wouldn't have shown up in any other context. Hmmm ... and I can't remember if I made any ejaculation jokes last time, so really it was a missed opportunity, and that just goes to show that opportunity really DOES knock twice, and anyone who says otherwise is a Big Fat Liar. *G* And that's your Deep Thought for the day.

Chess! Strip chess! Willow trying to explain why the strip chess rules are fair is very funny. And of course Tara's a whiz at chess :lol

When I started reading this I though right away about the strip chess scene in AD which I just read recently while I was on a looong plane trip. Wonderful fic. Loved the plot and characterization.

**The Rose24: Yeah, it has been awhile, hasn't it? Life's been a little busy - a little hectic, but I'm trying to make more time for writing, because I love it *G* But I'm glad you liked it - so thanks *G*

**Cicca: Oh, you're welcome. And I think that's a damn fine list - let me know how that works out for you *G* And yeah ... they're adorable ... and so fun to write *G*

**wiccachica: Oh, Niki, dear. I know everything. And, well, as for how I could do this to you - I owed you an update, didn't I? So I just figured, y'know, I should show you mine, since you showed me yours *G* And reducing people to a blushing, giggling, girly mess is one of my Super Powers. It's a neat trick - fun at parties. And tell you boss, your peers, and your Kiswahili tutor that they're very welcome. And I'd buy that whole 'cool non-plussed rebel-girl' thing if it weren't for the aforementioned blushing, giggling, girly mess.

**Murasaki S: HeeHee ... well, y'know, chess is a damn fine game, but when you add stripping, it's a vignette ;) And of >course< Tara's a chess whiz - the way I see Tara, she's a very bright, very visual person ... so chess would be the sort of thing she'd be good at that people wouldn't necessarily assume she'd be good at. Y'know? *G* And yeah, that musta' been a really REALLY long plane trip. *G*

Can I have a copy of that chart?

I've always wondered about strip chess. Now, instead of wondering, my brain is filled with images. Not that I'm complaining. This was a great piece. Fun and sexy. I love how Willow was so anal about the chart and how the pieces were exactly centered and yet she never asked if Tara had played before. Sometimes the details will make you miss the whole picture.

Excellent. Just excellent.

This was certainly interesting - leave it to Sassette to make chess sexy and fun.

I really loved that when Willow and Tara played strip chess in Answering Darkness Tara was winning when their game got interrupted ( by the way did you get the AD feedback I sent? ). I also loved the whole idea of them playing strip chess together so this vignette was a real treat.

Loved Willow helpfully providing a color-coded chart for Tara but she shouldn't assume, it did make an ass out of her (sorry for the misquote..) Reckon Tara was on the money when she asked Willow if it was an excuse to get her naked but let's face it, who wouldn't want to get Tara naked ?

Rather ingenuous of Willow saying, ''Well, I wanted to give you a little incentive...This way you should have plenty of incentive to do well. ''

Heh, well she gave Tara the incentive and didn't she do well!

Tara was so funny pretending she wasn't sure which pieces were the pawns and letting Willow believe she was a complete novice. And I liked the way Willow went to all the trouble to work out the rules and set up the game and then had last minute doubts offering to play normal chess if Tara preferred. Absolutely loved Tara's alacrity in reassuring Willow that the strip version was fine, her eagerness to begin play and the way she literally beat the pants off Willow.

Very sexy and lots of fun, thanks for another great vignette.

I bet more than your ears would dribble. Heck, I'm drooling just thinking about it. And for the story, I've never told anyone about that. Not that I have personal experience or anything. Halfway through a chess game and I swear she's making these rules up. Have you ever heard of forfeits for being in check? Ooh, it's my move. Oh look. Checkmate. Must go, I'm going to be rather busy later.

Hi, Sassette. I just discovered the Pens and Kitten Board recently...What a treasure trove! I got totally addicted to BtVS last year, when FX started showing reruns--just in time to witness the stupendously misguided events of last season. All this by way of saying that your fic is incredible, and this last vignette was especially poignant. This is the future they should have. Thanks for the creativity and I'm looking forward to future "episodes." Oh--I should have mentioned this after the first vignette, but that was an incredible set-up The word "clever" doesn't do it justice...Maybe "ultra-clever," or "clever-squared." Thanks for the smiles.
