Summary: (AU) Willow and Tara are both police officers in Sunnydale, California. Tara has just been transferred from Alabama. together they face untold dangers. and become closer whilst doing it.
UPDATELegs kicked and bucked but were only greeted with air or brushed against concrete as Willow struggled to set herself free of the hold that was getting tighter and tighter around her neck by whatever was dragging her backwards. She tugged and pulled on what seemed to be an arm trying to ease the grip but the more she pulled the more forceful her captor became.
Her captor’s destination was the alleyway, the dark and dank environment could be recognised by Willow anywhere, it’s where the lowest of the low could be found and where the lowest crimes could be committed.
Willow realised that struggling against this inhumanly strong (what she presumed to be) man was useless. Letting her body be dragged she waited, waited for that one tiny second her captor made a mistake and as soon as he did she’d run, this time with a destination.
Suddenly her attacker stopped moving backwards and spun her round with the least amount of effort; she could feel the cold of the wall seeping through her coat. Taking a deep breath she steadied herself forcing her eyes to look at what was about to take her life and she froze.
Her captors eyes were illuminated by the dark surrounding them both, she could make out hair and a nose but everything in between was obscured by the shadows.
Stepping closer Willows attacker became more visible and as a growl escaped from his lips a squeal escaped from hers. His teeth were protruded from his lips and she soon realised her attacker had either had some serious facial reconstruction or was not human.
She began to panic as he moved forward slowly enjoying the fear within her and she did exactly what Xander would do.
Lifting her right knee she thrust it forcefully into what she hoped was the man/things groin and as he doubled over successfully in pain she ran. Faster than ever before towards her car, her lungs burned as she heaved air into them trying to make herself go faster hoping that the knee to the groin had stunned the man/thing long enough for her to speed off in her car.
Just as she felt her fingers touch the handle of the door she found herself being ripped away.
The man/thing lifted her into the air and threw her forcefully to the ground and she landed with a thud hitting the back of her head on the cold, hard concrete. Her vision blurred and she shook her head as she gained focus. The street lamp added a little more light and she saw the full extent of what she now knew was a ‘thing’ rather than a man.
Panic struck Willow full force as images flashed through her mind from the last couple of weeks. Her world had change and she had started to live, everything that had lain dormant in her body had started to reawaken and there was only one reason for that.
Tara.
Willow’s mind replayed the moment they met. Something had happened that day when her eyes first gazed into Tara’s a door had began to slowly open and for all she was Willow had tried to push it closed only to have Tara on the other side fighting back. All the mean things she had said and done and Tara had still been there trying to push that door fully open, but now here she was laying on hard, cold concrete trying to aimlessly scurry away from something so fierce it had no remorse and only one aim. To kill her. And it was all her fault. Tara hadn’t lied about who she was it was that Willow had never asked. Never cared to get to know the woman that had saved her life in more ways than one.
Maybe, just maybe all that talk about demons and hell mouth had been true.
The teeth of the thing snarled at Willow and she laughed nervously as it reminded her of a vampire suddenly she stopped laughing and stared the creature deftly in the eye. It was a vampire and vampires could be killed.
The creature stalked Willow backwards and suddenly threw it’s self at her landing on top of her with such force the air was knocked out of her thin frame. A hard pressure slammed into her ribs and Willow immediately recognised it to be her gun and an idea suddenly became her lifeline.
Teeth pierced Willow’s soft skin and she fumbled through her coat flipping the strap on the holder she yanked on the metal as her head began to spin.
A loud bang made its way up and down the street ricocheting off every old building standing unused and vibrating through the earth.

“This is useless you know, she doesn’t want to be found.”
“Just shut up and keep looking, Kathy!” Tara ordered rolling her eyes. Willow had been gone for hours and Tara’s heart was beginning to feel the strain. Every blue car she saw made her hope then recoil as soon as she saw someone else at the wheel.
“It isn’t Kathy I keep telling you, you know my real name so have some human manners and use it. Can you believe people actually thought I was a Kathy?... do I look like a Kathy?”
Tara rolled her eyes again and tightened her grip on the steering wheel, endless hours in a car with the demon was starting to make her nerves twitch, she could feel power rising to her fingertips at the annoyance of the demon next to her, but that was no way to go about things and she knew it.
“I’m sorry Anyanka, I didn’t mean to be rude and forget your ‘real’ name.” The blonde apologised.
The demon nodded accepting the apology then sat back in her seat and sighed.
“Are we finished yet?... why am I actually here with you?.... it’s not like I care where she is.”
Tara inhaled deeply trying to calm herself. “You are here because two pairs of eyes are better than one and you are here because you are the reason Willow is missing in the first place.” She explained between gritted teeth.
“Well now.” The demon quipped. “That’s not exactly true is it? Willow isn’t running from me Tara and you know it, she’s running from you. You and your secrets because from the look on her face she had no idea you were a witch or that demons actually existed, so if you want to place the blame anywhere, stick it on yourself because that‘s where it belongs.”
Tara looked at the demon as if she had suddenly grown a second head although that shouldn’t actually come as a surprise. Anyanka had actually hit the nail on the head and tears began to brim in Tara’s eyes as she realised Willow was out there somewhere because of her, because she hadn’t told Willow who and what she really was.
“You know you could have found her by now don’t you, Tara?” Anyanka asked with a little more tact than her previous outburst.
“What do you mean?” The blonde asked, confusion etched on her face.
“I mean that Willow’s energy is strong, she has untapped, pure power. You should be able to feel it with being a witch and all.”
“I’ve never read Willow’s energy, I always think it gives me an unfair advantage.” The blonde explained suddenly wishing she had and giving Anyanka a sideways glance.
The demon let out an over the top sigh and threw her hands in the air.
“I’m a demon, if any of my demon friends heard about this, well lets just say it wouldn't be very nice.”
Anyanka directed Tara through the streets of Sunnydale as the blonde drove the car like she was in a formula one race, clearly desperate to get to where the demon was leading her. Every turn she took the wheels screamed in protest in the dead of night, speeding though the dark.
Tara pulled over leaving the engine running as she dived out of her car searching for Willow Anyanka stepped out surprised to find herself actually concerned her eye caught something on the road.
“Tara.”
The blonde turned and walked horridly over to the demon, her eyes fell upon what Anyanka was looking and at she bend down to run her fingers through what seemed to be dust.
The demon and the police officer looked at each other knowingly “Vampire.” They said in unison.
Tara drove with just as must haste as Anyanka once again lead her through the roads of Sunnydale, they had turned so many corners and passed so many houses that everything was starting to look the same until Tara recognised the street they had just pulled onto, her brow furrowed.”
“This..... this is where I live, why would Willow come here?”
The demon shrugged her shoulders “so I can leave now?”
Tara nodded and reached over to squeeze Anyanka’s hand showing her appreciation and she saw a slight flicker of emotion pass the demons face before it was shook away and Anyanka vanished.
Quickly getting out of the car Tara rushed to her apartment, afraid of what she might find. Would Willow be angry? Hurt? From what Tara and Anyanka had figured Willow had encountered a vampire. Would she be injured?
Her thoughts had taken over her and she didn’t realised she had been standing outside of her apartment for at least 10 minutes trying to prepare herself for any possibly reaction. Taking in her surroundings Tara noticed straight away that there was now a series of small holes where her lock had now been, realising Willow must have used her gun to shoot through the lock she pushed the door open cautiously, peeking her head in first. Tara was greeted with only darkness as she entered her apartment, walking slowly over to the lamp on a small table next to her sofa she flipped the switch and blinked as her eyes got used to the light. Her ears focussed on a sound coming from her kitchen and she turned to face the noise, over the counter that separated the kitchen from the living room Tara could see Willow. Her back towards her, her head slumped in defeat.
Thought once again took over Tara’s mind as she tried to decide what to do. Her heart was telling her to run over and pull Willow into her arms, never letting go but her head was telling her to take it slow. Willow might not want that sort of contact. Most of all Tara was just glad Willow was safe.
“Willow?” The blonde’s voice softly pierced the silence of the room and in answer Willow let out a small sob that visibly racked her body. Turning slowly the redhead faced Tara, her face tear stained and fresh drops of sadness slid down her cheeks, her eyes swollen and red.
Tara looked at the face of the woman who had come to mean so much to her and her heart broke to see such pain take over the once angelic features of her partner.
“Willow, I’m so sorry....” The blonde tried to apologise but was stopped by one of Willows hands being thrust up into the air.
“Don’t!”
“But Willow...”
“No Tara.... Just, just hold me, please?”
As soon as the words were out of Willow’s mouth Tara rushed over and enveloped her partner into a fierce hug, feeling Willow wince a little she eased her grip only to have Willow hold her tighter. They stood for what seemed like hours just holding each other, taking comfort in each others embrace and as sobs shook Willow’s body Tara still held on trying to ease all the confusion that was going through Willow’s mind.
The sobs dissipated after a while and Willow felt emotionally drained, she had so many questions running though her mind, so many things to say and do, but right at this moment the only thing she knew was what she wanted.
Slowly pulling away from Tara Willow took a moment to look into the blue eyes that had captured her from the moment she saw them and they calmed her. Eased her confusion until all she was focused on was those blue eyes.
Her eyes travelled over Tara features, her lashes that curled upwards and twitched at every eye movement the blonde made, her nose that had a slight downward curve and her cheeks that dimpled lightly when she smiled. Those soft full lips that she knew the taste and feel of were the most captivated and as Tara brought her tongue out to moisten them Willow knew what she had to do.
Leaning forward Willow brushed her lips lightly over the other woman's allowing their memories to replay the first and last kiss they shared. The memory made Willow press against Tara’s mouth harder. They stayed in a slow motion of kissing, their mouths brushing against each other over and over just revelling in the feel of one another as their mouth’s danced and their bodies shared their heat. Willow brought her arms to rest on Tara’s shoulders and winced as a sharp pain travelled through her rib cage. Tara tried to break the kiss to see what was wrong but found her mouth being assaulted by Willow’s tongue lightly brushing her own.
Their kiss grew in intensity as their tongues danced and their hands began to roam, Tara pressed her body firmly against Willow’s, jamming the redhead firmly against the kitchen cabinets and Willow’s hands worked their way up the back of her partners shirt. Starting from the base of her neck Willow made her way over every bump and curvature Tara’s spine made, her skin soft and burning at the feel of being caressed. Tara let out a moan she had been trying to hold and she realised the feeling of Willow on her was starting to make her lose control.
Willow whimpered as Tara broke the kiss only to be satiated by the blondes mouth drawing hot patterns on the skin of her neck, her pulse point was assaulted and her head lulled back allowing Tara more room to explore her flesh. Tara took a moment to examine the fresh bite wounds on her partners neck and As Willow’s head fell back her hips pushed forward, finding a firm muscled thigh against her pubic bone she bent her knees pushing herself against the offending leg. Willow’s breathing hitched as her clit was suddenly stimulated and she recognised the first signs of orgasm, it had been so long since her body had been set alight and she was unable to stop herself from pushing harder.
Tara’s mouth covered every inch of Willow’s neck and jaw, licking, sucking and nipping. She had felt Willow’s center against her leg and heard her partners sharp intake of breath but with each movement of Willow against her Tara realised Willow was close and moved her hands that had been holding her partners back, down to the woman’s hips, stopping her movements and receiving a grunt in protest.
“Willow look at me.” The blonde instructed. Taking a moment to control herself the redhead complied, her face flushed.
“Will, we have a lot to talk about, are you sure you want this with me?”
The redhead nodded her head in reply, but for Tara that answer wasn’t good enough.
“I don’t want a nod of the head Willow, I want to make sure you’re certain because this isn’t going to be a one night kind of deal, do you understand?” Tara had been so sure that after the nights events Willow would disregard her completely, never speak to her again, never look into those green eyes without them looking back at her with hate, but Willow was here, in her arms giving herself to her and Tara just wanted to make sure it was real.
Willow looked directly into her partner’s eyes and a light smile covered her lips.
“I don’t know what I’m getting myself into officer Maclay, but I do know I want this with you.”
