“Tara.” Willow tried to get the blonde to look at her but she wouldn’t. She pulled the girl down to kneel opposite her and the lifted her chin up, “Tara, I love you, so much.”
Tara smiled and finally made eye contact, “Really?”
“Of course I do. I wanted to tell you but…I was so scared, I didn’t know how you felt about me.” Willow said as she ran her hand through the blonde’s hair.
“I love you so much Willow, when you’re not with me, it feels like part of me is gone.”
Willow smiled and kissed the blonde gently, “I feel exactly the same.” She kissed the blonde’s cheek, “I love you.” And then the other, “I love you Tara MacLay.” She finally met the blonde’s mouth in a kiss that spoke more than words could.
… … … …
The bright sunshine and the twittering of birds woke Tara from her peaceful slumber. She blinked a few times to adjust to the light and looked at the clock <11.30? Guess last night really tired me out. >
Tara smiled as she looked down at Willow who had wrapped herself around Tara protectively. She moved the beautiful copper locks from Willow’s angelic face and simply sat taking in the beauty of her Willow. She felt the redhead stir and waited for her to open her eyes. Willow looked up at Tara and smiled, “You ever have the feeling you’re being watched?” she joked.
“Well if you go around looking so darn beautiful, what do you expect?” Tara giggled and gave the redhead her morning kiss.
They finally broke apart and Willow asked, “Did you sleep alright?”
“Like a log…oh except for a certain redhead shouting during the night and waking me up.”
Willow looked confused, “Huh?”
“Well I couldn’t make out what you were saying, but there was something about ‘fluffy rainbow penguins and a coffee sandwich’.” Tara laughed as Willow covered her red face with her hands.
When Willow had her embarrassment under control she looked back at the giggling blonde, “Guess I should have warned you about that huh?”
“I though it was cute.” Tara finished her statement by placing a quick kiss on Willows lips, “We better get dressed.” Tara said reluctantly.
“Yeah guess so.” Willow agreed, “But you know we could half the time of showering if we just went in together.” Willow smiled cheekily and dragged her nails up Tara’s thigh. Tara quickly jumped out of bed and pulled the redhead into the bathroom.
… … … …
After a good hour in the shower, Willow and Tara decided they better get dressed. Willow had just finished doing the last button on her shirt when the phone rang, “Hello?”
“Hey, its Buffy.”
“Oh hey…OH Hey! Tara stayed last night!” Willow said quickly as she realised that she hadn’t called the slayer to let her know.
Tara looked round from brushing her hair and mouthed ‘Buffy?’ to Willow who nodded in affirmation, “It’s okay, I wasn’t home either so…”
“Oh you were at Mike’s?”
“Yep, and I will tell you all about it at lunch!”
“Lunch?”
“Yep, I’ll be round in half an hour.”
“Okay…great.” Willow said with forced enthusiasm.
“Later Will.”
“Bye.”
Tara had finished tying up her hair and asked, “So was she mad?”
“No actually, she stayed at Mikes last night and she's going to tell us all about it at lunch.”
“Oh yay.” Tara said sarcastically and went and sat next to Willow on her bed. Willow was looking down at the floor in deep thought, “What’s up?”
Willow shook her head from her thoughts and looked up at Tara, “Nothing.”
Tara moved her hand to Willows knee, “You can tell me Will.”
Willow sighed, “Its just…what are we gonna do about Buffy, should we tell her?”
Tara looked down at the floor, “I don’t know how she would take it.”
“Me neither.” Willow agreed.
“I mean I want to tell her, I want everyone to know that you are mine, and that I love you.” Tara added quickly.
This made Willow smile, “I want that too. But…”
“What?” Tara prodded.
“Well, you’ve got to go home soon, what are we going to do then?” Willow asked the question that had been bottled up inside both girls. As much fun as they were having now, they both had the looming realisation that their time together was going to end in just a couple of weeks.
“I don’t know.” Tara said simply. They sat for a while, just looking at each other and realising that if they had to be apart, it would kill them both.
Willow eventually broke the silence, “Let’s not think about it now, I have you right now and that’s what’s important.” Willow didn’t want what little time she had left with the blonde to be spoiled by worrying over the future. Tara smiled at Willow and leaned in to kiss her tenderly. Gradually their kiss became more passionate and Willow reluctantly broke away, “Okay, if we don’t stop then Buffy is going to walk in on something which may cause her to pass out.”
Tara giggled and nodded in agreement, “You’re right, even after a whole night of you, its still not enough, I can never get enough of you.”
“I know what you mean.” Willow agreed and was going to kiss Tara again when she heard Buffy knocking at the door.
… … … …
Willow and Tara were sitting in The Espresso Pump listening to Buffy ramble on in great detail about her night with Mike. They both shared equal looks of disinterest and mostly concentrated on giving each other quick glances.
Willow was running over the script from The Matrix in her head when she felt a familiar Tara leg rubbing the back of her ankle. Willow jumped slightly at the contact and turned to Tara who sat looking completely innocent. Willow felt the Tara-leg begin to get more adventurous as it rubbed up and down the back of Willow’s thigh. Willow gripped her coffee cup a little tighter and tried to focus on what Buffy was saying.
Tara was enjoying torturing Willow and felt the redhead respond a little by rubbing her leg against her own. Tara was amazed that Buffy was completely oblivious to both her and Willow’s flushed expressions and the movement going on underneath the table.
Buffy continued to ramble on until she saw a familiar face walking towards them, “Xander!”
Willow and Tara quickly snapped their legs back when Xander walked over to the table, “How's all my girls.”
“We’re good, I was just telling Willow and Tara about Mike.” Buffy said happily.
Xander turned to Willow, “And I bet you were as interested as I was after hearing about it for three hours on the phone.”
Willow laughed a little and Buffy playfully slapped Xander on the arm, “It is interesting.”
Xander held his arm where he had been ‘playfully slapped’, “Yeah it is and…OW!”
“It wasn’t that hard!” Buffy said.
“Don’t worry Xander, I know how you feel,” Tara started, “She used to ‘toy fight’ with me when we were little and well I always came out black and blue.”
Willow glared at Buffy, “You meanie!”
“Well it wasn’t my fault!” Buffy offered.
“Oh yeah use that whole ‘its my duty’ thing again.” Xander said then noticed Willow and Buffy’s wide eyes and Tara’s confusion, “Oh yeah cos she’s like ‘its my duty to go to the gym’ she’s a total gym freak.” Tara looked a little less confused and laughed a little whilst Willow and Buffy breathed a sigh of relief.
“So are we Bronzing it tonight?” Xander asked, quickly trying to change the subject.
“Yep, I think it’s about time I took Tara there.” Buffy said and smiled at Tara.
“The where?”
“The Bronze, it’s a club.” Willow offered.
“Oh ok, sure I’ll go.”
“Cool, Wills?” Xander asked.
“Yeah I’ll go.” < Wherever Tara goes, I follow.>
… … … …
Tara sat next to Buffy on the couch in the Bronze. She looked round at the crowd of unfamiliar faces and felt very uncomfortable. Xander and Anya were getting their dance on and Willow still hadn’t turned up. Buffy was looking around the crowd hoping to spot Mike.
Tara noticed Buffy looking for someone, “Who you looking for?”
“Mike, he was supposed to be here.”
“Oh okay, when’s Willow coming?”
“Oh she’ll be here soon.” Buffy said absently and smiled when she saw Mike walking up to the couch. She jumped up and hugged him then they kissed furiously with over zealous use of tongue. Tara turned away when she felt her stomach lurch at the sight. < Willow, please be here soon. >
Tara was glad that the Buffy/Mike smoochfest was over and Buffy made her way back to the couch, “We’re gonna dance, wanna come?”
“Umm,” Tara looked out on to the crowded dance floor, “No it’s alright.”
“You be okay?”
“Yeah I’ll be fine.”
With that, Mike and Buffy went to grind on the dance floor.
Tara looked impatiently at her watch. She felt someone step behind her and turned to see Willow. She grinned happily and Willow matched her smile, “Well what’s a girl like you doing in a place like this?” Willow asked.
“Waiting for a redhead goddess to show up!”
Willow smiled and went to sit next to Tara, “Sorry I’m late.” They both moved in to kiss each other then stopped when they realised that they were in a public place, “So you having fun?” Willow asked, trying to relieve the tension.
“Oh yeah.” Tara said sarcastically.
Willow looked over the dance floor and saw Buffy and Mike in full swing and Anya and Xander making out under the stairs, “Well its good to know you have good company.” Willow said and glared at her friends who had left Tara out.
“I do now.” Tara said and Willow smiled.
… … … …
After a few dances with Willow and a few disgusting displays of affection from Buffy and Mike, Tara was more than a little bored. The only thing that was keeping her going was Willow, but now Willow had been dragged away by Mike to dance after Tara had refused a few thousand times. Tara wanted to rip off the man’s head as he openly leered down Willow’s top and admired her slender form. Buffy seemed oblivious as she was eyeing up other nice guys. < Well its good to know they have such a steady relationship. >
Tara got Buffy’s attention and asked, “Do you mind if I head back now?”
Buffy didn’t want to leave but couldn’t let Tara walk alone home in Sunnydale, “Are you sure, I mean its still early.”
“Its okay, I can walk back myself.”
Willow managed to wrench herself from Mike and made her way back over to the seating area and sat next to Tara, “Well that was fun.” She said sarcastically.
“Will, do you mind walking Tara back?” Buffy asked.
“No problem.” Willow smiled and led Tara out of the Bronze.
… … … …
Willow and Tara walked out of the Bronze, glad to get out of there. They rounded a corner and made their way down the lamp-lit street. They walked in silence, neither knowing what to say, but enjoying the company of the other.
“So did you enjoy your dance with Mike?” Tara asked.
“Uh no way, what is Buffy doing with that guy?”
Tara laughed a little, “Well I was going to kill him if he drooled over you anymore!”
“You don’t have to worry about some skanky man!” Willow said before taking Tara’s hand in her own.
They walked a little further and Tara noticed Willow looking around her anxiously, “Is something wrong?”
“I don’t know, I think we should speed up, there’s some weird people around.” Willow said before quickening their pace.
Suddenly a bulky vampire stepped out in front of them, “Got that right little girl.”
Tara looked at Willow in panic and was surprised to see that the girl didn’t look as petrified as she was. Tara looked behind them and saw that there were three other….things. She spun round again and noticed that another two had appeared in front of them.
Willow felt her heart race at a million miles an hour and she gripped Tara’s hand tightly. The bulky vampire, who was undoubtedly the leader of the little gang, began circling them, “Well what do we have here, the slayer’s friend and family. Well I guess it’s my lucky day.”
He stepped in front of Willow and leaned in to her face. She looked straight back at him, trying to hide her fear, “Well I wouldn’t call that lucky, it just means that when Buffy will kick your ass harder.”
The leader stood there for a few moments before bellowing with laughter, the rest of the gang laughed and then stopped when the leader roughly punched Willow in the face and she went reeling to the pavement.
“Willow!” Tara shouted and tried to get to her lover to make sure she was okay. As she went to see her, another vampire grabbed her from behind and tilted her head.
The leader vampire roughly pulled Willow up from the ground. Willow looked wide-eyed as she saw the vampire leaning over Tara’s neck. The leader whispered in Willow’s ear, “We only need to keep one of you around, the other one can be a little gift.”
Willow watched in horror as the vampire bared his fangs and moved to bite Tara’s neck.
