Postby zillee » Sat Nov 16, 2002 11:19 pm

This is a great thread so many embarssments hiding in the back of my collection. I have plenty of Jason Donovan Kylie, Bryan Adams and new kids on the block, but in my defence I was only little and I was bought them does that count??
So The stuff I bought with my own cashola, Take That *cringe shudder cringe* I loved them *sob* why couldn't I have been born cool?? and I guess Bat of Hell 2... MEATLOAF what was I thinking??? I guess it was because of that Song I would do anything for love but I won't do that....but that doesn't make it right! Roxettes greatest hits, WHY WHY WHY? and I think I probably own some bon Jovi too. *sobs*
In my defence I have made up for it now and have a fairly respectible collection lots of classics!! I am cool really :grin

Phew! what a trip.

Back home with a dose of the flu and severe jet lag. Pleased to see Buffy S6 on the Beeb, cut to shreds as usual. When will they realise that this just is not early evening stuff? Oh well, it'll be shuffled off the schedules before too long because of a tiddly-winks championship or summat.

Anyway, getting to the point at last, I picked up a copy of 'Bite Me' a compendium of every episode on BtVS and Angel, together with bio's info etc. An excellent book which I can't rate highly enough. What do others think? It has kept me amused, annoyed, sanguine and everything in between since I bought it in Barnes and Noble [wow, what a shop! It's bye-bye Smiths and Waterstones if they ever seriously set up this side of the pond]

Best thing about 'Bite-Me'...the author is obviously deeply in love with Amber Benson and Tara [hey, who is'nt!] and show's much respect to her throughout the book. Is she a Kitten?

Take heed Joss.

So, much B/s from me on my return to Pudding Island..........as for 'the worst CD/Single/Album? I ever bought.....well I have to think back a long way and I suspect it was 'The legend of Xanadu' by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch [I kid you not], closely follwed by 'Soley soley' by Middle of the Road and then Andy Williams version of James Taylors 'Homelovin Man' [I think]. All these were consigned to destruction bt the simple expedient of loading them, one by one into a skeet machine and blasting them out of the sky with a shotgun. To my everlasting sorrow several Monkees originals went the same way, I should have kept them.

edited to add um, what's up with the ezcode?

what it's bad to own a Kylie record?..............

but I own all of them, even the stuff she did with Nick Cave & the live in Manachester DVD is on order.

I watched the programme too, I can't believe that ABBA didn't get in the charts. Plus I was pretty miffed about the slating of Steps version of Tragedy. No evening's drinking would be complete without dancing all the moves to that song:lol

Most embrassing record in my collection, cause I refuse to include Kylie. :) The post Take That, Mark Owen album, Green Man.

WOW!

How pathetic I feel with my Shaun Cassidy 'Da doo run run' album (vinyl I might add). Oh wait it's stuck between my Donnie and Marie and Rick springfield albums (autographed even, what a spaz I am). I don't even have a record player any more. :lol

Oh god, Grease 2 so does not count. My friend and I were listening to that in the car yesterday on our way to the pub. It's like, a ten minute drive, but it took us more like 25 cos she made me drive slow so we could get to hear more of the CD.

We were singing our hearts out sat in the car park, not realising until it was too late that people were walking past and looking at us like we'd just been released from the loony bin :)

isn't Grease on the bbc tonight? it's like some kind of anniversary isn't it?

i don't really own any embarrassing cds mostly cause i never bought music when i was younger and i'm only 15 now so i've been buying (what i'd like to think) is good stuff for the past couple of years.

oh and to whoever mentioned aqua: my friend and i (metal fans mostly, with some singer/songwriter stuff thrown in) maintain that they were the coolest band ever.

yes i mean seriously.

I also used to sing along with my Wilson Phillips tape (I had a huge crush on the redhead)...heh

Gosh, is this thread turning into what embarrassing celebrities we were in LURRRRRRVE with as kids?

Well, the first recordings I ever bought (45 rpm singles -- I was in the third grade) -- were "Freeze Frame" by the J. Geils Band and "Private Eyes" by Hall and Oates.

I wish I could say that my embarrassing days are over, but then I would have to admit that I secretly want to buy Justin Timberlake's solo album, and what does that say about me?

Maybe I can chalk it up to temporary insanity due to graduate school.... and speaking of which...

I SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDED MY DISSERTATION!!!!

Just a few little corrections and I am set to dress up in the funny looking gown on Dec. 20th. Hallelujah and amen!

edited to fix a typo and to say -- Cool! Flaming O, finally!

Oh god, reading this thread has made me realise how truly tragic my musical taste has been. I confess, I own/ed records by:

Debbie Gibson
Bryan Adams
Rick Astley
Jason Donovan
Modern Romance

I was in a shop last week and they started playing 'I think we're alone now' by Tiffany - I can't believe I bought that, and worse, I still know all the words.

I'm off to hang my head in shame ... and watch Grease on the telly

Well, I escaped from having to watch Grease on the telly only to login here and find Kittens singing Grease 2 songs. Scary stuff!

Having impeccable taste in music I have nothing shameful in my music buying past. [img:7be943fec1]http://homepage.eircom.net/~mollyig/winkgreen.gif[/img:7be943fec1]

Eh, except for maybe once owning a Minipops album. Anyone remember those? Little kiddies singing chart songs. Well, I was 8, and that's my excuse. Oh, and I bought Ricky Martin's "un dos tres" (or however its spelled) single when I was in Mexico in '97. Tequila can be blamed for that one.

Well, since my Billy Ray Cyrus cd was a gift I can't say that. But I did actually buy the Hanson cd. There's nothing like listening to "MMMBop" over and over again. Those boys really have talent, they play all their own instruments, and the lyrics are excellent.

oh my. okay, i have a thing for soundtracks. and somehow, i tend to buy soundtracks for movies i really like, or for movies with people in them that i like, whether or not the music on the soundtrack is actually good. i've ended up with some great songs hidden on soundtracks, and i also have some total crap cds. some highlights? *cringe* yes, i bought the scooby-doo soundtrack because i really liked the cartoon - and the movie really wasn't bad; i have the first grease movie soundtrack; yeah, i have american pie too; um, dare i admit that i bought the D2: the mighty ducks soundtrack because I had a crush on marguerite moreau? I could go on, but I think I should stop now. :grin

I love soundtracks too!
Actually, I think I'm a soundtrack junkie.

I own not 1, not 2, but 4 [i:52d8de4fce]Back To The Future[/i:52d8de4fce] soundtracks. One disc for each movie in the trilogy and one disc with more music from the trilogy that's not contained on any other disc.

That's kind of embarassing when I think about it but what can I say, anything to do those movies is amazing.

Zippy- Where the Wild Roses Grow is such a great song, aside from the whole murder aspect of it.

Things I've bought are:
Yes, I did own one Ace of Base cd.
Sarah Brightman. If any of you work at Barnes and Noble you'll understand my hatred for her now.

I did own a few Debbie Gibson cd's. I was a pre-teen, and entitled :p

And whoever mentioned the Brian Adams Robin Hood Song, Everything I Do I Do it for You, I was seven years old and actually burned out that cd by playing it too much on the on track.

Oh dear, I still listen to Wilson Phillips, once in a while. But I did not buy what's her name's solo effort, Naked and Sacred, that's only a nasty and untrue rumor.

What's truly embarrassing for me is what's on my MP3 player. After all, not only did I buy the CD, I thought so much of it that I converted the tracks into MP3 files. Take a tour of my iPod and you will find hidden amidst my more mature choices (Dave Matthews Band's Crash, Cocteau Twins' Blue Bell Knoll, Diana Krall, Jane Siberry, and Talking Heads) such Bee Gee's gems as "Alone" and "One," as well as a Hall and Oats tribute set including "Can't Go For That," "One on One" and "Out of Touch." There's also a Devo set, a splendid collection of Madonna from both her early and later periods, and, of course, a sensitive collection of songs by the one and only brooding would be prince of the moors, Sting.

My housemate lives with strict instructions that in the event of my sudden and unexpected death he is to rewrite all of my hard drives. If that's not a testimony to the trust between us, I don't know what is.

Having now confessed just one of the many serious limitations of my character, may I also add for all the other aesthetically stunted kittens out there that it is better to taste good than to have good taste.
