Walk NY for Stonewall Tuesday MKF 11/12/02

Postby Chino6069 » Tue Nov 12, 2002 12:46 am

Hey, my girlfriend and I are signing up to 'Walk New York for Stonewall' in November 2003. That shouldn't be a problem as we walk the length and breadth of it every year on vacation but 13 miles in one go when you know you can't stop and window shop;) I hope we can make it.

We have to raise 1,200 each in sponsorship, of some form or other and we are working on that now, as well as the get fit part too. Any suggestions for either are most welcome.

So, the question is what do you think would make W/T get involved in some kind of charidy work and which ones would they choose?

Animal Rights perhaps, for Women in Afghanistan??

Have a great Tuesday everyone.

Whenever I am doing something for charity I usually put a notice up at work. This actually works incredibly well. Never had to raise as much as 1,200 though. If you could get a bunch of friends to help you, you might be able to persuade the local supermarket to let you pack bags for them. You can make a fortune doing this on a weekend. To give you fair warning though you'll have to do it for about 6 hours to make it worth your while as the supermarket will take your first say 500 and give it to the charity they sponsor. Oh and the 500 is just an example I don't know how much they take, just that they take a certain amount of money off of packers.

I can see Tara wanting to help out in a battered women's shelter. Just, y'know, with the background she has.:( I also think she'd be incredibly good at this kind of work.

Willow I think would go with animals. I can see her being an impassioned member of PETA.

I just love the atmosphere here in the city.......its dark early and then the turn on the special christmaslights everywhere in the streets and there are lots of people out and about :)

I'm starting tomorrow with my shopping, which is early but hey, at least I won't be standing in huge lines the last days before christmas.
And I made lists so I won't forget anyone, cos that would be too embarrasing for words.

So what about all of you.......have u done any shopping yet???

LOL I spent 4 1/2 hours stuck on the M25 this morning (doing what should have been a 30 min trip) , and when I got home tonight the b*stard cat had been sick in the living room.

I needed something to cheer me up. This has done the trick :lol

What about asking a business to help? You could maybe wear a T-shirt with their name on while you are walking in return for some sponsorship money.....something like that?
:hmm

Well we thought of approaching the owner of some of the gay owned clubs and bars in town, but he owns about 5 of them so I'm sure he would contribute something but not as much as five individual owners would ;)

Putting up a notice at work would be great but after my course ends next week I will be back in the ranks of the unemployed and my gf leaves her job in December to hopefully go self employed. I guess we could sponsor each other for a tenner ;)

Maybe I should contact Brian Souter of 'Stagecoach' and see if he will sponsor us ! I can imagine his reaction to that one :eek

First, I must say I am LMFAO at the "Huge temple found under Hill of Tara" story!!! :lol The places my mind goes.........

Anyway, as far as the topic of discussion here, I think Willow and Tara would help the homeless and most definitely help the animal cause. Perhaps PETA. LOL.

Yeah, that brings a whole new meaning to her trying to raise the temple at the end of Season 6. And as for worshipping, well, haven't we all been there at some point.

I wonder if the temple is dark and damp inside? Hmm...
