"That Guy Joel" Insane Troll Logic Tuesday

Postby tommo » Tue Jun 11, 2002 1:22 am

Okay. I [b:64998ed01f] had[/b:64998ed01f] to do this in light of the wonderful experience Xita and some other kittens had at the weekend. But it got me to thinking how Joel crops up in the oddest of places. Which is funny, because it's not really one of those names...anyway, heh. I wanted to have a Joel thread and thought I'd skip in really quickly with this poor excuse. :)

So, I'm seeing my gayboy friends this weekend, which is always fun. For some reason, they offer me a different kind of friendship to my other mates, and I'm not really sure why. Not wanting to get into a whole discussion about gayness here, but you know, gayboys...they make all the difference. :lol

And as for a Willow/Tara question...well we know [b:64998ed01f] Amber[/b:64998ed01f] likes Joel. And in my fic (shameless plugging, I'm so sorry ;) ) we know that [b:64998ed01f] Tara[/b:64998ed01f] likes Joel. But...what I'd like to know is; apart from each other, who are Willow and Tara's best friends and why?

The first person to say Xander gets it. Bwahaha. ;)

Have a great Tuesday, Kittens. :)

Well, I would have said that Willow and Buffy were best friends till this season. Tara would probably say that her best friend was Dawn.
And UK folks, you can win a copy of the US Buffy magazine signed by Amy Acker and assorted other cast members:

I think I'll agree with tyche on both counts. I really hope that we get to see Willow and Buffy building their friendship up again next year. Their relationship is one more aspect of the show which I always enjoyed and seemed lacking this season.

Agree with Tyche about Tara and Dawn. For Willow I'd say her laptop, as I don't think either Buffy or Xander are particularly good friends. They've never been very supportive of her or interested in what's going on with her.

And just in case you haven't heard. Ireland beat Saudi Arabia 3-0, to put us through to the next round. [img:c612b27ff2]http://www.theunholytrinity.org/cracks_smileys/cwm/cwm/spin2.gif[/img:c612b27ff2]

Not awake yet really. Thought I'd chime in anyway, however incoherent I may be.

Love me some Joel. Love me some Ruth. Love me some Insane Troll Logic. Dammit, I wanna watch "Triangle" now. Such a freaking great ep.

This season it hasn't seemed like anyone has had any real friendships. Before this season I would say that Tara's best friend was either Dawn or Anya, and Willow's was Buffy.

*sigh*

Okay. Only happy thoughts of when the show was still kicking muchly of the ass. Again with the incoherency. Going now. G'morning Kitties.

I agree. Even though the eps want to prove Xander is Willow's "bestest" friend, because the two of them have known each other the longest, she supposed to have a crush on him (temporary delusion ;) ), I refuse to believe this. I'd rather go with Buffy: you know, the whole girly bonding thing, especially since Will was there to take her up as her friend, when she was the new kid at school. During the years they had their problems, but they always managed to overcome them. This last season I noticed a change though. Buffy was so involved with her own problems, she didn't really see Will's. Strangely (well, actually not at all, since Tara just has that whole confidentiality thing going for her) Buffy seemed to turn to Tara for the real big issues. I found it rather cute and striking (good for Tara's character development: she's a strong character, belongs to the Scooby gang now, and Buffy trusts her, because she knows Tara won't judge her and can keep a secret). Tara obviously had a good relationship with Dawn: kind of a family-thing, she never had: whether she was a surrogate mother, sister, doesn't matter: the friendship and love was there. Giles was kind of a father figure and friend for Willow too. I have serious issues with the last eps, though: their reaction (or lack of) towards Tara. Seemed controdictory to the rest of the season. For example: at B's birthday, Tara was playing cards (poker ?) with the rest of the gang, and she gets away with teasing Spike ! I mean: Spike: harmless or not, it's not exactly the guy Tara would ever have dared to even speak to in season 4, let alone mock. Good on her :evil

Before her death, I would say that Buffy was Willow's best friend, but since she came back, Buffy was an unfeeling, depressed person who didn't care about anybody for a while so I don't think Willow really has a best friend (Xander would get the nomination for worst friend, since he is an immature butthead). The show didn't really show Tara's life other than when she was around the Scoobies, so it's hard to say who her best friend other than Willow would be, so I would say that Dawn and maybe Anya would be her best friends,

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday :)

I think Tara and Anya always had the potential to be best friends - both being outsiders to the Buffy/Xander/Willow/Giles inner circle, and not seeming to have many good friends of their own. I mean Riley had those Initiative dudes, but Anya (because of formerly being a demon) and Tara (through being so shy) which much more loners than the other characters and I would have liked/would like to see more interaction between them.

I do think that Tara was BUFFY'S best friend though, this season, even if not vice versa - Tara was the one Buffy confided in about Spike and I'd like to think that this isn't just because she wasn't "inner circle" & therefore "safer" to tell, but because she recognised Tara was the most mature and best able to give her sound advice re Spike.

I think Tara was more of a mother figure than a best friend to Dawn. From watching "The Body", I thought the brother Tara mentioned, that she had to look after, must have been younger than her, but then I saw "Family" (which of course is an earlier ep) and Donny is older - I wasn't sure if Joss didn't really know how to present her family situation - is her brother an older abusive type, or a younger, lost his Mommy, needs mothering type? In any case she was pretty much the "big sister" to both Buffy and Dawn in Season 6.

Um my avatar is from Entropy and she is saying unofficially to Willow, read my sig for what Willow says. It's when Tara is teasing Willow about stalking her at school in Normal Again.

Err, let me just grab it from the shooting script:

Tara: So this is becoming kind of a regular thing. You and me after class.

Willow: Uh, I didn't...

Tara: Only this time you stuck around.

Willow: Oh, um... various soudns of hesitation....

Tara: She was just a friend.

Willow's caught a little off guard. But relieved.

Willow: Friends are nice!

Tara: You rushed off before I could, you know, explain.

Willow: Officially, of course, I have to say that I have no idea what you're talking about.

Tara: Unofficially?

Willow just grins a big grin. They walk in silence for a moment. Willow still nervous, takes a deep breath, then:

Willow: We should get coffee some time. Maybe some day this week after class.

Tara: I'm free tomorrow.

ok. Iam ready to be told what a total losser iam.
But can someone PLEASE tell me who joel is in relation to amber, all i know is that he was in that movie (god iam a moron, i cant remember the name)
And is he gay or not.
I feel like a freeking idiot for asking so please be gentle.

As for best friends i agree with the magic pixie, about tara and anya being potental good friends.

But i have to say that i think that in the end, not only were willow and tara lovers (and damn cute ones too) but also best friends.
I always used to think that the person i had know the longest was my best friend, but it turned out that she new hardly anything about me and was a bitch (sorry iam bitter)
So as for xander saying hes her best friend cos hes known her the longest is a load of bullshit. 8o

anyway, as i said please be gentle, but i need to know. thanks

Edited to add: Hellmouthhottie, Joel Michaely was in the film "But I'm a Cheerleader!" (which is actually a pretty good movie!) playing a gay character. He is apparently one of Amber's best friends, and may quite possibly be gay in real life. I think.

Willow's best friend was Buffy although I am not sure about season 6. I have always seen Tara and Anya as close friends, maybe it is that outsider feeling.

1) As for the friend question I was always intrigued by the relationship between Tara and Anya since Tara was like the only person who never belittled Anya. She just sort of accepted her for what she was and gave her helpful advice like don't use "sex poodle" in your vows. I'd have loved to seen more interplay between these two as they are on some levels an unlikely pair, but from the start in that [i:86c41e8439] Yoko Factor[/i:86c41e8439] bathroom scene they were great together.

2) Rally the person who stole your avatar is using it at Essence of Amber too I noticed when I flew by there the other day.

3) In Bronco news they are doing a mini-camp now, and while Easy Ed is not 100% he is running patterns and improving. TD seems to be sitting this one out and Shannon Sharpe is back to running his lovely mouth off in Denver. All is right in the world. That is if we don't all burn to a crisp.

4) Yes, Ruth there is something to be said for gayboy friends. Nothing quite like them. :)

For some reason, the name that popped into my head was Giles. Ok, so, maybe he was more a father figure than an actual friend, but think back to eps like 'Tough Love' where Willow is telling him all about the fight she had with Tara, and he's reassuring her. And in Bargaining when Giles is leaving, he gives Willow the biggest hug.
Maybe this is just my overtired brain talking. I dunno. As for Tara, I'd have to go with Dawn as well.

Why must it be apart from each other? Anyway, I like to agree with everyone who's already posted, cuz they have a reason, and logic, and all that good stuff. And can I say the word "Xander" in conjunction with "stupid"?

Everything comes back to Joel, though, doesn't it. But I'm A Cheerleader is on HBO tonight, too. I love HBO.

[/quote:99e3730fad] How very appropriate on Joel day. Though I must admit the thing about that movie that scares me is seeing RuPaul [b:99e3730fad] out[/b:99e3730fad] of drag.

RuPaul out of drag is quite funny. Especially because they don't even bother to try to make him look like a guy who's not a drag queen out of drag (that sentence sucked). But seriously, he's still completely shaved and everything.

Oooh, this thread gives me the perfect excuse to ask a question that popped into my head this morning and has been bugging me.

Buffy has said "I love you" to Willow on several occassions. Has Willow ever said "I love you" (emphasis on the "I", [i:9556af414d] not[/i:9556af414d] as a part of "we love you") to Buffy?
