It's over - Amber won't be back.

Buffy stuff. Open to everyone now.

That's exactly it, Amy, and that is why I will also support every single thing Amber does, as long as I live. She made a sacrifice. I hope that the support of fans like us can balance what she might've lost by refusing to play BadTara.

And, really, look at her. She might not be working right this minute, but look what she's accomplished since March. I think it might very well be that, somewhere down the road, her refusal to return to BtVS will come to be realized as having been a blessing in disguise. And not just because the show is dying, but because Amber has been free to work on things over which she has more control and about which she is passionate. It seems that is far more important to her than superhuge paychecks, anyway.

Once again, I'm reminded that I should never assume I love and respect her as much as I possibly can. She keeps proving me wrong.

And, dear God, is she beautiful. :heart

Hello Kittens-

I understand the conflict, Pipsqueak. If I could be sure ME would treat the characters well, the story had an explination for what hapened so far, and IF Amber felt comfortable with the role I'd be watching the last episodes of Buffy and buying the DVDs. But in my conditions are the problem. ME doesn't see anything wrong with how it treated Tara or Amber and I DON'T trust them. Beyond that, they can't find an original thought with two hands and a map.

Now if it were one of the Pens writers, I could breathe easy. As it is, I think I've got a better chance of winning the lottery than seeing a good Tara or W/T story from ME under any circumstance.

And without W/T, I'm not giving ME another minute of my time.

Thank you,

Jixer

And I'd like to add that Chelsey looks like a very happy spoiled cat in the photo. I think his picture and memory do well on this board :)

I have to agree with Maudmac that Amber Benson is the strongest person I have ever met. Turning Joss down and not coming back to BtVS allthough she could really need the money was something huge and important. I think we all can learn from her: stick to your ideas no matter how much it hurts or upsets you!

I say "Go Amber go" and I will do my best to support her as good as I can.

As watching season 7 is concerend I have to admit that I do. I have always been a BtVS fan but now I only watch what ME has done to the show. I mean the plot is not bad but Tara is really missing.

And who knows Koss might come to his senses and bring Tara back in the season final hoping to get all the fans back so that he can continue with another season. So I wait and drink tea!

Tara: Better not get used to 'em.

The thing is...Joss might tell us that sticking to his idea no matter how much it hurt or upset him (or us) is exactly what he did in killing Tara. Remember, that was his big justification--it hurt him so much to think of it he just *had* to do it.

Sticking to an idea is good, but you also have to be open and clear-visioned enough to see when the context has changed. The best metaphor for the artist/audience relationship I've ever read was Cocteau, who said (I'm paraphrasing): "The artist is in a car and the audience is following behind in a bus. The artist is ahead of the audience, but he must always keep himself in ther sight or he will lose them."

If what Bob was saying in another thread is correct: Joss was so focused on DMW that he lost sight of the fact that Oz and Tara were not interchangable as "triggers." And that's what he did wrong: he was so focused on that one target tree he couldn't see he was in an entirely different neck of the woods.

And I remain, sadly, in the camp that hopes he doesn't bring Tara back even for the farewell. It's too late and too much has happened.

But...if he does, if some miracle happens and he manages to produce a final script of the caliber he used to, like "Innocence"...then I assume AB would consider it.

Apologies if this has been asked before. It seems obvious that Joss wanted Amber to return and appear as the face of the FE to Willow in CwDP (played out by Chloe instead). What I was wondering is if Amber had agreed to return for the part, would she have even appeared in more than that episode? Reading the various episode summaries, it doesn't seem like it. Having the FE appear as Tara to Willow seemed like a one trick pony to me. From hearing Joss' initial statement that "Amber may return, but not as Tara" I got the impression that it would be for a more substantial role than just one episode - my bad I guess.

It's all irrelevant now obviously, but I wonder if much/anything was changed (apart from that one scene) due to Amber's integrity and refusal to do more damage to an already upset fanbase...

I heard several reports that Amber was being offered two episodes, but I don't know any details about the supposed second one.

Well, duh! It was going to be The Killer In Me of course!

Instead of just having NotWillow/WhyWarren flap her gums and wave a gun around, we could have seen her actually shoot Tara! We could have relived that oh so wonderfully dramatic moment yet again!

And then HERiley could haved kissed NotWillow and made everthing super-happywondeful!

Think of the drama!

Think of the pathos!

Think of the blood splattering in slow-motion!

Think of the hot lesbo kisses!

Think of flaming bamboo and Jay-Dubya's fingernails!

Think I'm still feeling kind of bitter.

Great post, BP!

Joss keeps saying he loves Amber. Obviously, not enough to give her a role that isn't hurtful or mean-spirited.

Oh, I'm sure Jay Dubya "loves" Amber Benson. He just loves his "genius" more. In fact, I think that he only sees the world and the people who live in it for how they affect him, including Amber. So in actuality, he only loves himself. It's just that simple.

Oh, god, BP. Your imagery makes me feel even ickier than The Killer In Me did.:puke You're prolly right in your assumption.

Do you think some of us are still bitter??? (insert sarcasm font)

I'm glad that Amber Benson has integrity, something that is lacking at Mutant Enema.

I always thought they probably wanted her for the end of the season opener as well. That's what I always assumed the second episode was. They probably thought it would be extra creepy to end on Tara saying "it's about power". JMHO. I don't think they ever planned on having Tara in TKIM.
