Just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work. To be honest I'm not the type to sit through all your numbers - I just can handle the main one - but am very impressed nonetheless. I do always get a happy grin however as you state every now and then to 'get a writing' - and I always try to. Just thanks for keeping on top of things - and being like all knowledge guy and all. :)

Chances are it will stay UPN.

Can't find one for the Chicago station.

Ideas

Postby WebWarlock » Fri Dec 20, 2002 9:45 pm

So taking a page from other people's campaign books, here is an idea.

How about making specialized post cards to send.

I have no artistic ability whatsoever, but here is my contribution to the cause.

I put this on every piece of mail that goes out to Fox/ME/UPN that goes out.

These are some favs of mine, from NinjitsuGirl (I hope she does not mind the link).

hometown.aol.com/zenobiaxf/tarabuttons.html

Here are some of the ones that the DA fans have done.

adinfinit.net/danation/postcards.html

And the *ahem* FF ones.

www.fireflysupport.com/banners.html

So, anyone interested in doing this? Not an "I hate JFK" campaign, but rather a "I love Tara and want her back" one.

Postcard Designs

Postby Pipsqueak » Sat Dec 21, 2002 9:31 pm

Ooooooooh!

I read Warlock's post and inspiration struck. (BTW, great idea, WW!) Spent the past several hours designing my own postcard. You can get it here. Just right-click on the images to save.

Also, you can either print your own postcard using special paper, or you can go to www.amazingmail.com or www.usps.com and design your own. They will create it and mail it for you, for a small fee.

P.S. and now I have another postcard idea. But I need the names and addresses of the advertisers who support Buffy. Like, if a Campbell's soup ad runs during the show, then I want the address for Campbell's soup. Anybody know where/if I can get this information?

Okay, I'm going to fire off another round of postcards/letters..

Besides it's X-mas time and I can goat my family and friends into writing/sending a postcard. :shy

I'm kinda paranoid about saying the wrong thing.... could somebody give me an example of what to say.

Also should I have my family/friends write something different on theirs....does it look odd if everybody writes the same thing??

Re: The one stop spot to shop for all your activist needs!

Postby themagicpixie » Tue Dec 24, 2002 7:10 pm

Does anyone have any suggestions what Brit Kitties could do? Does anyone know if there is any point contacting Sky or the BBC to complain that they are airing the mysognistic crap that is Seasons 6 & 7? It's not up to the UK whether Buffy gets cancelled; of course, the USA ratings / vibe / production costs will determine that...

I have tried to do my bit by not buying the Season 6 Buffy box sets... the number of videos and DVDs sold in Europe does tend to get noticed more than the ratings here, as that's where the real money is. The only piece of Buffy merchandise I have acquired lately is Christopher Golden's book "The Wisdom of War" (I am trying to support him, rather than the franchise - I have read that is a good author, and writes Tara well in this one).

I am taping the series off the TV. I am going to figure out how to edit the non-W/T bits and am going to stop that tape right as Tara says: "That's the best part." Therefore I will only be giving my money to Sony or Memorex or whoever for the tapes (plus the crazy British TV licence fee, but I had to pay that anyway).

Postby Sheridan » Tue Dec 24, 2002 8:47 pm

The best thing you can do in the UK is spread the word, let people know what depths the show is heading for, especially any W/T fans watching BBC2, though given the BBC's propensity for cuts they won't realize what's happened to Tara even after SR...:spin

Willow: ...I have to tell you....

Tara: No, I understand you have to be with the person you l-love

Willow: I am

Postby sam7777 » Tue Dec 31, 2002 5:25 pm

I wrote an email to Zap2it.com saying that I don't watch Buffy and think that they cover that show too much:
Quote:
Why do you run so many articles about "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"? I don't watch that show and have no interest in reading about it. I would rather see coverage about other shows like "Gilmore Girls" or "The West Wing". I used to go to your site all the time but now am tired of the bias. The Futon Critic has much more balanced Entertainment coverage.
Here's what I got back:
Quote:
Thanks for your email. While I understand that some of the shows we cover might not interest you, "Buffy" is a favorite of the vast majority of our readers.
I say write an email to feedback@zap2it.com if you feel as I do that they have too much Buffy coverage. Make a lie of Zap2it's statement that the show is loved by most of their readers. Also don't be shy and point out their competition.

Don't forget to be polite but to the point if you write them.

Don't ID yourself as part of any group. I only spoke for myself. If you feel the same, let 'em know.

Here was my response:
Quote:
I used to be a big fan of Buffy but hated what the show became 6th season and now hate seeing any news about it. Since my view doesn't apparently fall in with the majority of your readers, I will just go elsewhere for my entertainment news. I'm more interested in the sites like the Futon Critic or Yahoo News! who do not have biased coverage.
Let 'em know that you won't go to their site. I deleted the zap2it.com links from my browser and don't plan to go to that site again. Media Week (www.mediaweek.com/) and the Futon Critic (www.thefutoncritic.com/) are much better sites and aren't propaganda organs for ME, IMHO. Prolly won't make a difference but if they hear from many individuals like me, it may make them think and actually read the ratings that they post and realize that Buffy is not a universally loved show.

Happy New Year to all Kittens!

Edited to add: Thanks Dekalog!

You've had several great ideas these last few days - I entirely agree with you that this is the way to go. Although I will still NEED to send my 'I Miss Tara' postcards - I do feel that it is time to make sure, as you have, that it is known far and wide that this show deserves no praise, no accolades, and no coverage.

Thanks for your ideas - time to ring off the New Year right;)
