Thanks, Rane. OH... and thanks for your feedback over at my thread. I really appreciate it and I'm glad you are enjoying. :)

CHAPTER 22, i think...

*******************

“So, this is cabin number seven,” Faith announced as she walked in, hands on her leather encased hips, so not impressed by the digs at all. Not only had she endured two hours of driving in Giles’ cramped little car up curvaceous mountains and dips, she had to actually sit there and listen to his choice of music during the awful ride: Opera. She never understood what people liked about a bunch of moaning and whining in incredibly high pitched voices. But Giles was British after all and all he did was whine and moan in a high pitched voice that she figured it was sort of familiar to him.

By the time they got to Camp Flutie she was so itching to get a slay out of her system that she was willing to run into the woods and fight the first wild animal she found out there. Well, that, or find some young impressionable hunk and show him what exactly a Slayer was and how much stamina they possessed.

Buffy simply ignored the younger Slayer and pointed out her bed to Giles. “This is where I sleep and this is were Willow sleeps.” She continued. “Isn’t the floor spotless? We spent all day yesterday cleaning up.”

Ok, so it hadn’t been all day but much of their Saturday was spend getting ready for Visitors Day. All the cabins and staff members were given certain sections of the camp to be cleaned and then they were rated in competition. The prize was a night out at the local movie theater to be announced later that day during lunch.

“Yes, yes.” Was all her Watcher was able to mutter as he took off his glasses and wiped them with his handkerchief. He knew no matter what he’d still be staring at rows of bras hung out to dry and feminine products bursting from under the camp beds when he put them back on.

“So, where are the boys?” Faith asked as she plopped down on Buffy’s bed and took hostage her stuffed dog, Mr. Gordo.

“Don’t touch Mr. Gordo!” Buffy yelled as she ran over towards Faith and grabbed her oldest plush toy in the world from her hands.

“Chill out.” Faith chuckled, always knowing how to get a rouse from Buffy.

Maybe she shouldn’t have eaten the whole bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken on the way over to the camp. Not only had it made her queasy during the ride over but it had been the only request Buffy had asked of Giles. She had certainly been quite pissed off about that. At least they still had donuts.

“Why are you here?” Willow asked Faith as she watched the two Slayers. It came out a bit more harsh than she had hoped. She was never able to hide her animosity against the black haired Slayer though. No matter what.

“Gee, I missed you too, Red.” Faith replied sarcastically as she stood up.

“Don’t call me Red.” Willow told her for the millionth time.

She didn’t know why she always felt so hostile towards Faith. Oh, right, she had slept with Xander, threw him out of her room right afterwards, broken his heart and hers in the process. Even though Willow had been dating Oz at the time she was still a bit in love with Xander and the fact he’d slept with Faith had hurt her more than she’d ever expected. She had cried in the bathroom stall of the school when she’d figured it out. That and the fact Faith seemingly oozed lack of manners or morals.

“Ok,” Buffy grabbed a hold of her best friend and began to push her towards the front door of the cabin trying to diffuse the situation, “Let’s go join the rest of the visitors for the camp tour.”

*********************

After meeting, greeting and touring with the visiting parents of their campers they finally reached the stables where Tara was just about to finish her discussion with her previous group.

Her blue eyes peripherally caught the fiery cooper color of Willow’s red hair coming up the path and she quickly began to blush. It took her a few seconds to control the erupting feeling coming from inside her chest and quickly finished of the safety speech she was in the middle of.

“A-any questions?” she asked her audience once Willow, Buffy, Giles and Faith reached the opening. The four hung back until Tara had finished talking and dismissed the group of parents and campers.

Willow’s proud face shone brightly. “Hi!” she beamed at her girlfriend, “Giles, this is Tara. Tara, Giles.” She said pointing between the two.

“H-Hi.” Tara nervously smiled and nodded her head hello. She couldn’t help but be amazed at meeting Giles. She’d heard all the stories about the Watcher’s Council from Willow and to actually meet such a distinguished

scholar she was pretty much left speechless.

“I’ve heard much about you.” The Watcher registered the affable girl in front of him. “Buffy, tells me you are Wiccan, practitioner of the arts.”

“Tara's a really powerful witch.“ Willow grinned. It was incredible how much her face lit up when she spoke of Tara.

The blonde couldn’t help but blush further under the compliment. “Not really.“ she said modestly.

“No really.” Willow looked at Tara with her resolve face. “You know you are.” She softly leaned over towards Tara’s beautiful face and added, “That skanky, slutbomb over there with Buffy is Faith.” She whispered in to her lover’s ear as she watched Faith scan the barn.

The rush of warm Willowbreath in her ear drove Tara mad. “O-oh.” She muttered quietly, trying desperately to control her rising temperature.

Even though Faith’s slayer hearing had heard Willow’s description of her she simply crinkled up her nose and yelled, “Damn, it smells like crap in here!”

“It’s hay.” Willow pointed out.

“Hay. Whatever. It’s still horse crap.” She mentioned. “I’m just telling it like it is.”

Buffy rolled her eyes, “Thanks, Faith.”

Faith turned around and looked at Tara, eyeing her up and down. Her strut over towards the bashful blonde exuded her “want, take, have” attitude. She held her hand out to Tara, “I’m Faith, skanky slutbomb.” She smiled lasciviously and winked.

Tara’s eyes widened This was Faith, eh? “Um…” she didn’t know what to say. Instead, she lamely shook the Slayers strong hand.

“Quite a limp grip you got there, Tar.” She laughed. “Maybe you should take up swimming. Build some muscles.” She scanned her shapely body, “More muscles.” She could see Willow’s eyes fuming with hatred and the redhead mentally throwing thorns towards her.

“Tara,” came Beth’s voice from behind the group.

The blonde’s head whipped around to the barn opening to see not only her cousin and brother but her father as well. “Dad! H-hi.” Tara warily moved towards them a bit nervous to the fact Willow and her father were in the same room together.

“Well. There's my girl.” Her father hugged her, albeit a bit too formal.

“It's such a s-surprise.”

“Yes.”

“H-how come you came?” Tara winced at the sound of her own voice, she was trying so hard to control her stutter. This always happened when addressing her father.

“I wanted to see where you worked.” He explained as looked to the four in front of him.

“Oh.” She said after her father’s words registered. He wanted to see where she worked? She suddenly realized he was staring at the motley crew. “Oh, these are friends... this is Mister Giles, he- uh…”

Buffy came in for the rescue not understanding why Tara would introduce Giles at all, “He’s my guest. I’m Buffy. Hi.” She waved at Tara’s father.

“Hello.” He said looking over from the petite blonde to the redhead with burning cheeks to the leather clad black haired girl whose mouth was curled up in a fleshly grin.

Giles, dressed in his formal tweed suit, held out his hand, “How do you do.”

“Pleasure.” was all Mr. Maclay said as he shook the Watchers hand.

Tara’s eyes nervously darted everywhere except Willow’s green. The redhead was a little surprised at not being introduced to Tara’s father. She looked over at Mr. Maclay and Giles not caring to listen in on their small talk. She’d seen photos of him in Tara’s house but in person he seemed even more austere. His rugged stance, his cold, calculated speech gave her the oogly mooglies. How was it Tara came from such a person? How was it she was the complete opposite of this man?

Faith noticed Willow’s fallen face. She also noticed Tara’s eyes finally pleading gently with Willow and Willow sadly half smiling in understanding. The Slayer chuckled quietly at the obviousness of it all.

Mr. Maclay turned back to his daughter. “Well, I don't mean to interrupt your plans, I know we've come on you kind of suddenly. But I thought we'd have lunch together.”

Tara nodded in wonderment, “Yes s-sir.” Lunch? He wanted to have lunch with her? Who was this man and were was her real father?

“Good, I look forward to spending some time with-” But before Mr. Maclay could finish his sentence the beeper strapped around his leather belt vibrated. He quickly checked the message. “Oh dear.” He muttered aloud. His gaze turned to the group. “Forgive me for running out- One of my patients is about to give birth.”

Tara didn’t know what was going on but she silently thanked all the gods and goddesses she knew for this interruption. She feared it would have been disastrous if her father had stayed for lunch.

“Nice to meet you all.” He waved casually and headed out without a second look at his daughter.

Beth meekly smiled at Tara and wandered off after her uncle. Donnie did as well, adding a “See ya.” as he ran off to catch up with his father and cousin.

Willow could feel Tara’s stress and tried to allay her turmoil. She searched to find something comforting to say but what came out instead was an astonished, “That's so weird. Your dad.”

“Y-yeah.” Tara sighed.

“He seems… nice.”

She smiled, knowing what Willow was doing. Sweet, caring, always looking out for her Willow. “He’s okay. You know. Dad’s are always...” She rolled her eyes a bit, making light of it.

“Are you ok?” Willow asked, sensitively running her fingers up the back of Tara’s arm as their gazes remained locked.

“Yes. Thanks.”

Faith glanced over at Giles and Buffy, “So, Willow’s not driving stick anymore?”

*********************

"She has magic fingers." Then, as though the words had just echoed back to her and sounded not at all right, she perked up and glanced around at the others. "On the keyboard." Tara, The Wisdom Of War...

Rane I really enjoyed this update, it was both funny as well as intriguing in the regard to Tara's family showing up. I got a kick at of poor Faith having to suffer in a car with Giles of all people, listening to opera. And :lol to her need to release her pent-up frustration on some unsuspecting animal or boy at the camp. Also cracked-up with the image of Giles trying to avoid looking at "rows of bras and feminine products".

I liked how you incorporated the tension between not only Faith and Willow (who still resents Faith for sleeping with Xander), but also Tara (who thinks of her self as an "outsider") meeting the scooby gang, the same time her father decides to show up. Also liked the way you incorporated the family dialogue into this part, and I am glad Tara was saved the pressure of lunch with her father by him being beeped. And lastly I got a kick out not only Faith introducing herself by using the words "I'm Faith, skanky slutbomb" (ie the words she overheard Willow whisper into Tara's ear), but I loved how Faith noticed all the tenderness between W&T and said the infamous line "So, Willow's not driving stick anymore" in front of Buffy and Giles, :lol ! Can't wait for the next part!

ok, my tired eyes cannot go and edit so sorry if there are any mistakes.

VN12- OH! I’m so happy you liked that update. I’m terrified of writing Faith, I never feel I can write her at all so I never include her in most of my fics. I dreaded writing this Visitors Day because of that (I cant write Giles either. Lol.) but I had to buck up and write it. I wrote it in an hour and was a bit hesitant to even post it... I’m glad you liked the show’s dialogue and the scene with her father. I just wanted to add more drama to it and wanted willow to meet Tara’s dad. I couldn’t figure it out until now. Yay for visitors day! I’m telling you, this fic writes itself!

LQ- hmmm… I wonder where my muse will pick up the next update. Maybe right from there or a few hours later. We’ll just have to wait and see. Hehe…

Ten ten- hi love! I just had to have Faith saying that line, and her telling Giles and Buffy seemed funnier than her taunting tara or willow with it. I wanted to end with Giles’ *Bloody hell* but it didn’t fit. After all he’s not plastered here. Hehe…

Singgirl- glad you liked it! cup o fun is good!

LMAO!!! That was so funny. I couldn't stop laughing. :lol

Okay...

Damn Tara's family. I REALLY don't like them. I'm glad her father was beeped away. But, I agree with Tara, something was up with him, huh? He was acting kind of strange.

Hee... loved Faith's use of Buffy's line in, "Who Are You?" At least it wasn't directed AT Tara this time.

Can't wait for more, girl. Mucho gracias. :)

Rane, this was great. I think that I somehow forgot, in the pleasure of Camp Life, that there were pressures on Tara that Willow doesn't know about, that there would be forces preventing her from happy sleepovers. I was all "la, la la, I don't care, Willow and Tara are happy," and I. Actually. Forgot.

But now I remember.

Wlll- I’m sure he blushed profusely. Hehe… ay, giles so easy to tease

Jen- glad you like faith. I wasn’t sure whether she’d say Damn… unfortunately I cant remember much of season three. I think my mind’s been erasing buffy episodes from my memory bank. I hope it gets to season 6 soon though so I can forget it ever happened…. As for Tara’s dad, I’m writing him a bit more like Willow’s parents (aloof, away on business) but still trying to keep some of him true to Buffyverse. But that gets all wonky cause I have my own take and explanations for his actions and words in the show. he certainly confuse me a lot. Like he thinks tara should be at home yet he lets her go off to college. The only one to show some sort of physical violence towards tara was donnie when he threatened her but not him. however he didn’t call his son on it. To me, he seems to be more of a verbal abuser than a physical abuser. But that’s my take on him. However it is inexcusable if he knew Donnie beat his sister and he didn’t do anything about it. ok, let’s not get into this discussion know. It’s too much…

Tulipp- well, aren’t stories supposed to make you forget things? Hehe… that is one of the best compliments you could have ever given me. Thanks! It’s like when kittens wrote about having forgotten it was a summer camp and that August was rolling along soon. It has been all tralalala for now, but we’re half way through the story though and I guess I’ll have to implement some sort of plot soon, no? hehe… the set up has been slow, the story has been pretty much angst free for now but now the elements are coming together. I sound so pompous. Lol… loved replying in your thread as you replied in mine. Hugs!

Rane:

You're a trip.

And I think you've captured the tension remarkably. Only the people that live in the house know what the family is really like. Sadly enough, the true wacko's are the ones who appear normal to everyone else but are ass-holes at home. *ahem* sorry.

Anyway.

As I said, nicely done.

Yeah...let's have Buffy and Faith race the horses and see who wins? Hmm?

*G* And one more thing? POOR GILES! Willow's like his daughter! The last thing he wants to hear is about her driving ANYTHING.

oops! puff and areslei must have psoted while i was typing. wish i had willow's magic fingers. :) oh god, let's not get into that comment. hehehe...

Puff- unfortunately Faith will only be there for the day so no romping fun with the raven haired slayer. sorry. Cousin beth's not so bad in this fic. hey, she temped for tara didn't she? hehe... ok, she's not good news. you're right but you'll see...

Areslei- Yup yup, willow now knows them all. if only she knew everything about them no?congrats on your extra flamey! i miss the old board. i'd been there forever and coming here made me feel like a newbie all over again. hehe...

Kerry- kerry, kerry... you and your horses. how's bubbah? i hate dissapointing you but like i said faith will only be there for the day and i'd figure the only thing she'd want to race is some guy. hehe... dont worry i'm sure the horsies will pop up again soon... and as far as family life, yes only those that live there actually know.

TARA- It looks like gibberish.

Yes, I loved Faith here. Um... actually I think she did say Damn, once. Didn't she? I could be wrong though.

As for Tara's father, I agree with what you said. If he just let Donnie do that without reprimanding him, that's just... wrong! :mad Tara shouldn't have to live with that. I'm glad you are not making her dad the abuser though, physically anyway. Thank you. Too much violence in this world today.

Ooooh... and I'll second what Liz said. I'm worried what will happen when camp is over and can't wait to see how you handle it.

Anxiously awaiting more, Rane. Thank you. :)

Now I have to go get her." and Willow says "No you don't. YOu really don't! Just let her run away and have to fight bears for survival!!" And Tara says "My poor horse."

LOL, i was waiting the whole update for that last line. Knew you'd throw it in there somewhere. :) No confusing names in this one, so i don't think i'll screw up again :) Willow finally got to meet Tara's dad although Tara wasn't sure what happened to her real dad the way he was acting. I felt a bit sorry for Will that Tara didn't introduce them, she was very understanding and supportive of Tara for doing it though. I'm sure you'll fill us in, in good time and i await with eagerness. :) Great stuff Rane. :)

Rane: Great update, I loved how Willow was trying to comfort Tara at the end when her father left, that is so like Willow to do that. I echo everybodys feelings, I really liked that Faith showed up, I thought that her comments were funny, especially the one where she introduced herself to Tara: "I'm Faith, skanky slutbomb" that was really funny, and I also like that she could tell right away that Willow and Tara were together. I was a little nervous about Tara's family showing up, I hope that nothing bad happens. I can't wait to read more.

Nath- you are so funny, next time I’ll mind the similar names. Thanks for pointing that out though! Honest… I HAD to throw in that Faith line. However, I wanted it to be funny not mean. Glad it worked out like that… the whole introduction thing will probably be discussed eventually. Depends on my muse…

thanatopsis – I’ve been wondering… what does your name mean? I’ve never heard of a thanatopsis. It’s probably some sort of latin no? It’s probably something I should remember from biology or chemistry isn’t it? hehe… just kidding… I wanted that scene to be awkward, glad it turned out like that.

hush- oh you are sooo cute and certainly not a slack arse! You know what part number it is better than the writer! Hehe… Yeah it’s probaly part 24 or something.… I’ll fix all of that when I’m done with part two and edit it before posting it elsewhere. Thanks for letting me know though! Hugs! Slack areses are funny!

Christina- glad you liked it. yes, that line MUST be sued whenever faith is around. I’m making it a LAW! Hehe…

Grimaldi- oph! That sucks! How embarrassed were you r parents? That must have sucked muchly. You poor dear.

Lonewolf- HI! I’m sorry but bad things will happen…. Hehe. Just kidding. I can’t remember that stupid quote from Joss right now. No bad things will happen but there will be angst, there has to be. but you know me I always have a happy W/T ending.

editing: hehe.. i could NOT have taken me half an hour to type up those thank yous! madeinnz, sorry to have missed you!
