Oh, Sass, this was so sweet. Everytime I see that you've updated, I get this big ol' silly grin on my face because I just KNOW that you won't disappoint.

What I love most about your writing is that you manage to capture Willow and Tara's essences in every possible situation and at every age. Your characterizations of them never falter, and that's amazing. I never feel like I'm reading about two completely different people that just happen to have Willow and Tara's names. Thanks for that.

This is how Willow and Tara should be written. Beautiful work.

Yes, well, I usually lurk here but I just had to reply for this particular vignette. See, the thing is... A little Willow is cute, but a little Willow with a scarf and her aviator gear? That is just downright adorable.

As always, Sassette, this is absolutely wonderful.

That was just lovely.

As soon as I read the words "Rose" and "Magic Helicopter" I got a big goofy grin on my face.

Thanks for that, I really needed it today.

**wiltar: Thank you, Patricia - I'm glad you liked it *G*

**witchbitchwillow: I have to admit I'm rather partial to Lil' Tara and Lil' Rose/Willow, too. *G* ... and I'll have to look up that play. Sounds cute *G*

**Sela: Awww, shucks ... honestly, I'm expecting to write a real clunker any day now that everyone's going to absolutely hate *G* Then again, it's not like anyone would actually >tell< me if they hated it *shrug* All y'all are too darn nice. But thank you - I'm incredibly flattered you feel I'm hitting the characterizations no matter where I put them *G*

**momentum: LOL - I hope you've enjoyed your stay out of lurkerdom ... please, come again. But thank you ... I actually cracked myself up with that visual ... this tiny little Willow buzzing around in this helicopter I'm envisioning looking like the one from the Mad Max movies (which I haven't seen in years, and only vaguely remember ... my esteemed coworker Derek says the helicopter was in the second one. Thanks Derek *G*) ... anyway, envisioning that ... she just HAD to have the aviator gear. I'm really glad you liked it - and liked it well enough to de-lurk *G*

**BoredNow99: Thank you *G* I have no idea why, but something about writing the Lil' Tara and the Lil' Rose/Willow is incredibly fun. Really - it gives me a big ol' goofy grin, too.

Sass, this was so beautiful. It actually brought happy tears to my eyes. Growing up, my family moved almost every year, so I never had any close friends. I can feel and sympathize with Tara's lonliness and the joy she feels at finally finding Rose. Just lovely.

**Tiggrscorpio: Aw, thank you *G* I'm really glad you liked it. And yeah, the moving thing can be rough. I'm very fortunate in that my dad got out of the Navy when I was five, but I do remember moving away from all my friends that last move ... and my older sister >really< remembers.

**Ressick: A puddle of goo. Wow, that's a new one. *blink blink* I'm ... ummm ... not sure to help out with that one. Fainting, falling, clinging to the sides of cliffs ... those I'm familiar with. This - this is a stumper. Heh ... I wish I had >had< a Magic Helicopter, so I could have flown off and had adventures with Tara.

**LeatherQueen: Why, thank you *G* I just ... felt like writing something cute. And what's cuter than a little itty-bitty Willow and Tara?

I adore this. It's like having my own personal imaginary friend. Kinda sorta.

It's so cute, but what I like even more is that it ties into AD, giving me even more insight into that story.

Simply lovely.

Aw Sassette this vignette put a big smile on my face, especially after I had the unpleasant experience of being forced by friends to watch the Buffy season finale. Eight year old Tara and Rose are too adorable for words, and I loved how you capture Tara's various emotions in such a small span of time. In other words, she is sad her "bestest-girl type friend Rose" hasn't visited in a week, then she starts getting excited at hearing the helicopter, but when she sees the smoke she if filled with dread that her new friend may get hurt.

Also I enjoyed the contrast between Rose telling Tara that her friends Xander and Jesse didn't believe she could build and pilot the magic helicopter, but Tara on the other hand, having complete faith in Rose's capabilities. Lastly I loved that even though, Tara was unsure about piloting the helicopter, Rose makes her feel she can conquer all her fears. And I loved this line "One day, Tara would fly with her on her Magic Helicopter, and Rose would show her the world" (ie it gives a sense that together they can face any challenge, and at the same time revel in new discoveries).

Quote:
"You make me feel brave," Tara said softly. "You make me feel brave enough to fly."

Rose felt a hundred feet tall at Tara's words, but she could tell that Tara was still nervous about her Magic Helicopter. That was okay, though, because they could play something else, and one day, Tara would fly with her on her Magic Helicopter, and Rose would show her the world.

*sigh*

oh my, but that was cute.... in a beautiful way.

you know, the characters in this series remind me vaguely of a couple on this one show i used to watch... hmm, what was it again? "Fluffy the Vampire Layer"? something like that....

at any rate, i think i've figured out what i enjoy the most about your writing Sass. it really flows and feels true ya know? it is obvious in your writing that you truly do love W/T. the best thing is that you do this incredibly well and everything i have read thus far of yours has been, quite simply, a joy to read.

There's such an innocence and simplicity about the way they feel for one another in this story, Sassette. It sums up perfectly just how wonderful they are as a couple without all the extraneous details of life getting in the way. I love it. Thanks.

Oh and by the way; I figured out what the extra thing is. It's passion. :)

Young Tara and "rose" are the most adorable creatures ... I love their interactions. It's awesome how you show Tara's insecurities, but not grown up insecurities ... child-like ones. (IE, Thinking Rose was gone b/c she liked Jesse/Xander better ...).

I simply adore this snippets of life ... and await the next one.

Thank you for this fantastic series.

I'm a bit slow and only started catching up this weekend. Bad me!

Each of these vignettes is so sweet and delightful. I wish I'd have known about them to read after recent Buffy-watching. Great antidote.

so what is love then is it dictated or chosen does it sing like the hymns of 1000 years or is it just pop emotion

Postby Sassette » Tue May 28, 2002 8:40 pm

Wow ... lot of fun feedback. Just some responses, then I'm going to finish up #10, which, of course, I hope all y'all will like *G*

**blameburner: I'm really glad you like it ... when I came up with the bit in AD where Tara had dreamt of Willow as a young girl, I was really drawn to the idea. It's a whole lot of fun to write, kind of like expanding on AD without having to sit down and pound out the lengthy sequel.

**The Rose24: Heh ... yeah, they're adorable. And they just kind of pop into my head every now and again in all of their cute glory and insist that I write about them. Demanding little things ;)

**Puff: Excellent! *G* It warms the cockles of my cold stoney heart to pass out happy little smiles.

**VampNo12: Ewww ... the finale. I'm more than happy to provide therapy in the form of cute/schmoopy vignettes *G* But thank you - I really appreciate your comments *G*

**Autumn: Oh, my dear Autumn ... I hope you had a delightful time in NYC. I'm glad you enjoyed the super-extra-magnetic quality of the "gettin' busy during Hush Little Lesbian Magnets". And yes ... the laundry room is a fine place for doing it. Go forth, dear Autumn, and bring the Lesbian Love to a laundry room near you.

**fidds: Thank you *G* I'm really glad you liked it.

**bulldog_tidnab: Awww ... more fawning? *blush* Thanks! I do, in fact, love W/T ... which is why I bother writing these at all. They're wonderful girls, and I just want much W/T happiness - because they deserve it. I'm all about the justice.

**mollyig: Why, thank you *G* And yeah ... if you had a friend with a Magic Helicopter who could do anything, wouldn't you feel safe and brave, too? *G*

**earthlovinwicca: Heh ... workin' on more. But thank you ... I'm glad you like these little snippets.

**xita: Thanks, xita. And yes, they're very romantic. Don't take this the wrong way (*G*), but that's really how I see the friendships that little kids have with each other. When puberty hits, the nature of friendship changes drastically, but before, it's this kind of connection where this other person who is your bestest friend makes you feel like you're better ... that you can do things with your friend at your side that you wouldn't dare dream of doing alone. It's a very romantic sentiment, and one that adults share with other adults who are partners, whereas kids share with other kids who are friends.

**Katharyn: Heh ... 'lovely' is just fine *G* In fact, I rather like it.

**tommo: Passion, huh? I'll have to think about that - in a non-dirty sense *G* And I think you've managed to hit on just why I enjoy writing the 'Lil Tara and 'Lil Rose/Willow stuff ... because it is so very simple and so very innocent, and beautiful because of it.

**Grimaldi: LOL ... thank you *G* That was actually my personal favorite part ... this little "Hi Tara" written in the sky with a big ol' smiley face after it *shrug* I amuse myself *G*

**oneinten: Heh ... hope no one at work asked about the smile ... that one's a little hard to explain. And I love the sunflower field ... I figure Tara likes it there, too. 'Cuz, y'know, she's a sunflower *G*

**TX: Heh ... thank you, TX *G*

**tiyodragon: Well, even at 8, Willow >is< the ultimate romantic. Because, really, she just wants to make Tara smile. And thank you *G*

**jdcioffi: Vignette 10 >will< be up tonight. And I have to admit, I love writing about lonely little Tara with all her insecurities... not because I even remotely like that she's lonely and insecure, but because I get to write about her meeting a very special friend who loves her very much.

**bulldog_tidnab: LOL ... personally, I don't mind if I hit the second page .... though I appreciate your enthusiasm in bumping the thread.

**Cicca: Heh ... don't worry about coming into the thread late ... just means you get more W/T Goodness all in one sitting *G* But thank you ... I'm glad I could help out with the Post-Buffy-S6-Fiasco feelings. I know it's why I'm writing, and if these help all you reading half as much as they help me, I'm really >really< flattered.

**AmberBensonRockzMyWorld: Well, yeah ... when I have an idea, it only takes me about an hour, sometimes less, to write up four pages. Most of these are only two or so ... therefore, time permitting and ideas popping into my head, I could write one a day. Not that I'm going to, mind you - I >do< have other stuff to do ... but, I'll post these as often as they demand. And #10 will be up later tonight.
