Re: part 1 of party

Wow, your making me speechless, my brain is running so fast with the thinking, can't catch my thoughts. And especially not translating them in english that fast.

Really nice updates. Missed giving reply to the last two chapters. But there are two things I loved most - of all the good ones: 1. Giving us the view of Willows touching mission from Taras prospect. 2. You really got me with the said-yes-to-something-I-shouldn't-have. Bad tease. I was really convinced that you would make Willow miss the party and give us another long wait for the girls to become closer. Thanks for doing otherwise and in such a wonderful manner.

The Party: Sometimes I want to shook clueless Buffy really hard. Poor girl doesn't know a thing. Wonder if she would notice what's going on between W/T if she was around. Probably not because she's so goddam straight. Glad that Willow didn't got a clue to Buffy thanking Tara for taking her to the party. That maybe would have been a slap for little Red. Thinking that all nice Tara is only for making her comfort as beeing Buffys friend.

So, know we have two more or less friends of Tara having notion of Willows attraction to the blonde. Go on Michelle. You need some alone time with Marissa convincing her and making her talk to Tara. Or maybe the galerist is also having notion of the fact soon after looking at jealous Willow. Maybe Willow should write two labels for Tara: Mine. Hands off. But no that would be rude and brazen.

Go on Tara, too. You got the right feeling: Willow is oggling you. Don't shy away. If you want something take it. That's what your friend Anya would say. Listen to her and not Marissa. She is clueless.

And so nice reading jealous Tara and jealous Willow. I hope Willow goes to the Trio and rest her hand straight to Taras skinfull back. Claiming her girl and bringing her out of every intellegible thought. So she can't have a good talk to Morgan. But I know you'll find a much better solution.

So I'm waiting - impatient - for the next update. Walking up and down my flat and looking every few minutes for something new from you. Really love your fic.

There's no way I'm going to miss another update of yours missy, even if it's going to be the death of me! I can't even fathom the idea of coming back in a few weeks' time , to check on the progress!

nope I'm sticking here, come hell and high water!

so: Part 1, was much with the plaisanteries and teasing...and coveted flirting... and now, enter obstacle Morgan... you said somewhere in your replies, that it was bound to reveal some truths, well let's hope the ratio Truth:P ain is worth it. lol, cause frankly now that you've starting describing Morgan better, I'm getting yummy-faced and thinking what a knock-out! So if you add to that, Willow's affections towards Tara, and mix them well, you'd get one helluva lot of 'ache'.

Can't wait for part 2!

Great update! :clap

I was having so much fun with the ride to the party, the playful label, the velvet, the skin... and then... Morgan. It's going to hurt, uh?

Will you take that label off from Willow in the next update? Just for the party? :D

Bad me, I missed leaving feedback for a whole chapter! :punish

So anyway, chapter 26: You evil, manipulative, deceptive, Machiavellian, duplicitous, sleight-of-handish Demon Kitten! :kdevil When Willow told Tara about her working from home and Tara was just repeating "What?" again and again I was right there with her, "What? Willow's talking about the party, isn't she? That's what she's been thinking about on the way home, how come she's suddenly talking about working from home instead?" And then the truth dawned... and it occurred to me that, what with The Party being this story's next big thing, and Willow and Tara still all fragile and tentative, if Willow had been wanting not to go Tara would probably have gone all apologetic for asking her, rather than convincing her to go, so I probably should have seen through that one and realised a bait-and-switch was in the process of being baited and switched...

What can I say? You got me like you're some bizarre genetically-engineered hybrid of Robert Redford in The Sting, Brad Pitt in Ocean's 11 and Kaiser Soze in The Usual Suspects, with all the heist-related powers thereof. Now I know how Robert Shaw felt after handing over half a million dollars and never seeing it again. :shock Except I got the story for free, not half a million, so better.

Now then, that out of the way... I forgot to say last time (two chapters ago, now), but yet more hints of the Day At The Park, that being the '...' in 'Not since...'? And unless I'm much mistaken (I should be careful using phrases like that after being taken for a ride like Doyle Lonaghan's courier with the $5000), "I didn't come here to be forgotten" is another one? But who said it, Willow or Tara? And what was the context? The DATP is starting to assume the guise of one of those 3000-piece puzzles where you've only got a vague idea of what the picture is (Presumably Willow and Tara in a park talking, but so far as the minor details go I'm still piecing edges together and trying to find all four of the corners, so every hint remains fascinating).

Tara not being able to paint was kind of melancholy. But understandable, especially in light of what you've said about her and her art - she doesn't paint to vent whatever she's feeling at the time, she paints to create something, pure and simple. And her mind's just not on the job. Ironic that she's been head over heels about Willow for three years, and now that there's a glimmer of a hope, now she's messed up - but there you go, I guess when Tara didn't think there was any hope it was all fairly simple. Now her mind's filled with possibilities - 'beautiful, confusing Willow'.

So, The Party approaches, the way you've described them they're both looking gorgeous - and it's got to be purely anxiety-induced paralysis that kept Willow from feeling Tara's shirt. But what's going to happen at The Party - how much progress and how much damage? With luck, the fact that they'll be spending so much more time than usual together, with Willow working from home, will help smooth over whatever happens. I mean, the worst thing that can happen is for Willow to draw the wrong conclusions and then stew over it on her own, without any one-on-one contact with Tara to lift her spirits.

Well, let's hope 'time at home with Tara' doesn't become 'Willow hiding in her room, Tara hiding in her studio' :paranoid After all they did manage to spend three years barely talking while living in the same house, madly in love with each other... with luck though, their recent advances have laid the groundwork for one or the other of them to reach out, even when there'd be the strong temptation to just hide.

Poor rats - I was imagining a little rat creeping into Willow's office in the middle of the night and using her PC to order cheese deliveries. Ah well...

Having not yet read the next chapter, my prediction for biggest disaster-in-the-making: Willow still doesn't know it's Morgan's party. We saw how some 'prep time' with the theoretical notion of Morgan being a woman helped Willow not panic completely earlier - now it's the reverse, if she doesn't find out before Tara introduces her to (so far as Willow knows) Image-of-Tara's-Perfect-Mate and says "Willow, meet Morgan", she's going to be utterly blindsided. Eek!

Having now read chapter 27: Nice change of pace! From pulling the entire wool export quota of New Zealand over my eyes a chapter ago, this one was - among other things - a steady inexorable ride towards the inevitable Morgan. And reading this story continues to expand my horizons of empathy - from the late Robert Shaw, now I know how it must feel to be the only virgin on a tropical island when the volcano starts rumbling, and the local tribe shaman decides a sacrifice is needed to appease the Great Mountain God. From the interruptions in the taxi, when the topic of whose-party-is-this might have been raised, to Willow glimpsing Morgan across the crowded room (that prompting a dagger-shooting glare, rather than the traditional romantic cliche), to Morgan sashaying up to Tara and Marissa while Willow was away, to Willow getting back and investigating the Mystery of the Missing Morgan, and incidentally why's there a crowd around Tara - it was like trying to outrun the leaden footsteps of doom.

(You'd think that'd be easy, given most shoes are made out of fairly light synthetic materials, whereas lead isn't easy to get around in, but one assumes that Doom, while lacking in the sprint, is an expert over a long course.)

So - now what? I have this mental image of Willow simultaneously trying to run away screaming, rip off and discard her 'Hello My Name Is Straight' nametag for all the world to see, and pick up Morgan and toss her off the balcony... All in all, she'll probably be lucky to remain on her feet.

So, does Willow a) clamp down on her emotions and politely say she's got to leave the party early, leaving Tara mystified, b) hide in the kitchen and end up crying all over some convenient bystander - possibly Anya - leaving Tara mystified as to her absence, and Anya mystified as to what she herself is doing in the kitchen in the first place (unless it was meant to be a quick stop-over to collect hard drinks before rejoining the party), or c) be fiercely jealous of everything and anything Morgan says and does, leaving Tara mystified... but possibly, on later consideration, thinking maybe Willow really was jealous of Morgan? Or d) something else, seeing as this story keeps surprising me.

Or, you never know, e) pick up Morgan and toss her off the balcony. What will happen? I don't know, I'm just hoping that, in the long run, it all works out.

Tara's top was just... :drool Willow's going to have dreams all right, if visions of a marauding Morgan don't plague her sleep too much. And it's a definite positive, Tara's got the notion that Willow was responding to her I-Don't-Need-Velvet-On-My-Back, I'm-Made-Of-Velvet top (long name for such a small garment) in a very not-straight way.

Of course, a bronze statue would start drooling at that vision of Taraness, but let's figure Tara doesn't quite realise just how hot she is, and thinks that Willow's reaction might be a product of existing attraction. Rather than just the fact that Willow has eyes and a working brain.

That label, incidentally, was a touch of genius - like the W/M revolving notepad, it says it all. Poor Willow, thinking 'my name is big fat liar', it's not like she's in the closet because she likes it there... but there you go, it's a big thing for her to come out, and this will probably give her a little boost.

And returning to the subject of Hurricane Morgan (leaving an inadvertent trail of devastation through Kittens' hopes of Willow/Tara goodness like we all live in Florida all of a sudden), I'm hopeful that once Willow does get the notion that her unrequited love has a surplus 'un-' on the front of it, she'll think back on her 'wow' reaction to seeing Morgan, and then think "...and she wanted Tara, but Tara wants me." That'll have to be a boost for her confidence.

Did I mention I love this story? Cause I do. :bow I'm now waiting hopefully (and with a touch of dread) for The Party episode 2: Morgan Strikes Back.

Curious how Tara can be so possesive about Willow (which is different from protection), if she didn't want to 'share' Willow why bring her to the party in the first place?

Tara really has put both Morgan and Willow into rather impossible positions. Granted, Tara isn't in a good spot either but that is by choice. You can't really blame Morgan for coming on to Tara, heck that is what Tara came to the party for. Initially anyway, she seems to be having 2nd and 3rd thoughts now :)

It will be interesting to see if Willow will go to Tara anyway, or turn around and hide in a corner all dissappointed :cry . And yes, Tara has to feel guilty of Willow and Morgan's hurt feelings after the party... no way to avoid that.

The ride to the party... why is it that people always feel they need to answer a mobile phonecall ? Person-to-person talking does have advantages you know, besides Willow wanted to talk to Tara... so don't answer the damned phone :)

Tara, Tara... why did you get yourself into such mess??

Hey! :bow

It's been a while since I left some feedback, though I've enjoying the same all the updates since.

As I told you before, I love the sense of reality that I have from the whole story. I think everyone can relate to the plotline, and the feelings of all the characters, even Morgan, non intended to but used one nevertheless because of the circumstances and fears.

Now at this point the rest of the party is open with like a million of different possibilities, from Willow doing the butch stuff with Morgan, to willow too, drunk like hell coming out screaming an ripping off the damn " I'm straight" sticker, or Tara pissed off by someone hitting Willow, or simply both of them in a corner nearly crying for whatever reason. Even at the worst case, I hope that's nothing a nice talk at home can't solve.

By the way, I'm starting to get on my nerves, what the hell happened in the park three years ago? A chat or a flashback could be in order... :p

Ohmygod! That was amazing, i loved it. Tara being all protective was seriously hot! And Willow is so sweet and innocent, bless, she needs protecting from the big bad lesbian who isn't Tara, and Tara'a looks alone would have killed her! Awwww, i love when they both stare at each other and have naughty thoughts, it makes me all tingly and that whole back incident with the touching and apologising and the staring, has Tara finally been hit by a big fat clue?? Yes Willow was dribbling down your back so yes i think it's safe to say she kinda likes you. I hope she remembers that and doesn't go back to being totally clueless about Willow because they're moving along nicely and lots going on between them with the touching and looks and i'm not happy Morgan id talking to Tara! It should be Willow. She should go in there and get her Tara........but i doubt that will happen. She'll more than likely go there not say a word and just stare, then make some kinda excuse to leave...........*shakes head*..........poor Willow, she should bump up her secret telling to now, not the weekend. It could be too late by the weekendm, what with Morgan!

Please, please can we have an update like now! It's getting amazingly great not that it wasn't brilliant before, it's just that things are getting very interesting and i seriously don't think i can physically wait!

OK, so my initial reaction was, "HO - LY SHIT!!!!!!!" That was about it.:lol That was all my brain could come up with.

You've got such a gift. It was like I was standing right there with them. I could see the crowd, the lights, I could feel the tension and the nervousness and the WANT. I'm concerned that Marissa is going to have an intervention for Tara and it won't be a positive one. Michelle being a Willow fan has some possibilities though.:hmm I loved Willow repeatedly telling herself to touch the shirt. She was so lost in the mantra of it, in trying to be sly about helping with Tara's jacket and HELLO!! SKIN! Nice curve ball! (Sox!) I find it hideously ominous that Morgan caught Willow's eye. It's just bad. It's just all, all bad. Where's Dr. Seuss when I need him?

Chris, I'm thinking option f) myself, and here's how it would go, kinda: Willow gets self-conscious about Morgan until the beautiful brunette makes her high-class intentions clear, as opposed to spikey-hair's grunting to Willow earlier. Willow comes to a decision, "comes out" to a house full of partying lesbians, tears up the "straight" label in front of everyone and then caps it off by kissing Tara senseless while Morgan watches. Just my 2 cents.

Love the story, my dear - my schedule prevents me from leaving feedback but be assured that I am reading.

Oh boy… What kind of insane freak has red walls and red furniture? Bleh. Tara must have known there wouldn’t be anyone at the party for Willow. But.. she still thinks Willow loves Xander and isn’t looking for a possible date, or quick f@ck, anyway. She wants to have Willow all to herself. Someday soon she’ll figure out she already does! I’m surprised Michelle didn’t put a “big fat liar” sticker on Willow’s thigh as well. Ha ha. And wow. A room full of artists yet none of them seem very observant. No one caught the red daggers shooting from Tara’s eyes? Michelle did catch a clue but Marissa was quick to squash that notion. Miss Frizz doesn’t even know Willow. Geez.. assume much? I love possessive Tara scooting closer to Willow and suggesting she leave the label on. Oh! And Willow’s touchy-feely plan turns into Willowhand on Taraskin: better than velvet for sure. Willow’s vivid imagination is on overdrive and that doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Good thing she doesn’t need to worry about hitting the snooze button for the next two weeks! Willow squeaking when Tara asked if she ‘wanted some’ was perfect. Poor girl. On the way to get drinks Michelle must have commented that Tara looked hot. “I know!” Did this trip to the kitchen confirm Michelle’s suspicions? Morgan could be standing in a leaky dinghy half way across the world and she would *still* be too close for comfort! Just give her an apple and point her in the direction of the pretty mare over in the next stall.. erm room. Come on Willow.. Conquer your fears!! I’m covering my eyes for part two, but I really want to trust you, give Tara a song, and Morgan the gong, then make with the gay love Whoo-Hoo! Tense, frustrating, sexy, funny.. yup.. Great update!

Wow, Morgan is such a class act. Too bad for her she doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell. I'm sure she'll see the Willow/Tara chemistry, be very sweet and polite then graciously bow out.

Of course Willow will ask Tara lots of Morgan type questions, which hopefully Tara will honestly answer. Maybe they'll enjoy the party after all. Maybe they'll even dance?

Thanks for the wonderful story :clap

ok...so do we remember the ulcers??? and how if willow doesnt come out and just friggin tell tara soon then the ulcers are going to kill me?!?!? yes...this update...not helping the ulcer cause!

first i was like oooo...this is great...theyre both excited about being home together...this is going to be too much fun...blah blah blah...and now theyre going to a party together and theyre going to lust over each other...and then willows going to touch the shirt(which she tried to do and ended up with skin!! props for that little twist!)....and i think that the nametag thing is something that could turn out potentially good because then willow could like, throw them out in front of tara and morgan so that everyone knows(what better place to come out then a party with all lesbians?!)...either that our maybe tara will be talking to morgan and willow will come over and do the whole 'hand on the hip...arm around the waist' thing that tara did for her with scary spikey-butch chick.

anyways..yes back to the ulcers...lets consider them with the next update...and the 2 weeks theyll be together hey?? lol...my body would muchly appreciate it.

Heather,

Wonderful part 1 of the party. Geez, Buffy couldn't be more of a self-absorbed PIA could she? She's like the bad timing queen. On the other hand, if you're writing a little secret-keeping farce, it's nice to have a stock character to interrupt potentially important exchanges and to distribute misinformation.

Willow's thinking is so ... I don't know. She's so crazy about Tara and allowing herself to think absolutely anything. Wow, what an imagination. I like this series of thoughts from Tara:
Quote:
Is she nervous because of me...? Tara thought hopefully, her heart beating a little faster.
It makes me wonder if she's starting to actually catch on. Not just wishful thinking but to actually get it.

I thought the red-pants girl was going to be the (Faith) girl from the bathroom at the Kitten club earlier. But no, just some truly forward chic in hot-pants.

Poor Willow, just realized (as we all predicted) that Morgan is in fact the gorgeous woman who commands the entire room. Shocker huh? What I wish she would start noodling is "why did Tara bring me here? If she wanted to be with Morgan, why did she bring me? ..."

Anyway, well done as always and enjoy your "me time."

Totally amazing update. Everything's so tense and it's almost like I'm there feeling it. I hope the clue-by-four has finally hit tara and she'll have more courage to openly flirt with Willow.

Totally took my by surprise with the touchage. Here I was all set up for Will to cop a feel of tara's shirt, then there's a total curve and Willow just cops a feel. Total surprise.

I myself think Morgan is a great character. I wouldn't want her to get pissed off because she's 1) not a bitch 2) isn't intentionally trying to "steal" Tara from Willow and 3) I think she has the potential to be an awesome friend to them.

Can't wait for the next update. I'll be waiting!

Tara is finally getting an itty bitty clue that Willow may have a thing for her. But I still have this bad feeling that she is going to do something with Morgan that is gonna make Willow's poor little heart shatter into a thousand pieces.

Maybe Tara will do something with Morgan or there will be a misunderstanding (Willow is always good at jumping to the wrong conclusions) and she will shy away from Tara and fall into a big black pit of despair.

Or maybe they will both see the light go home and get with the lovin'

OMG! How can you stop there?!

Argh! Xander's ruined something again. Michelle and Marissa could tell that something was going on between them and then... and then... Xander!

Adorable... Tara turned and flashed the redhead a lopsided grin. Willow smiled in return and reached up, brushing her hand over Tara's leather-clad arm. Tara took in a deep breath and turned back to the room, praying Willow wouldn't see the slight tremble that ran through her at the touch.

Have you heard the Christina Aguilera song "Obvious"? If you haven't, check out the lyrics for it. It kinda fits the relationship between our girls in this fic.

I'm nervously waiting for the next part. Oh, and did I read correctly that Willow is going to come out soon? :D

Heh hopefully Willow will come out soon... like during the party... Though I have to admit that I like Morgan's character..... She seems like a nice person just trying to get involved with Tara... which is a no no of course :) Anyway loved the update can't wait to read more :P

HOLY. CRAP. I think Tara turned out to be more jealous than Willow that time, but the end....that was a mean ending damn it!

I hate the fact Willow has been labelled 'straight' she should've just ripped the label off, and tell Tara she's gay damn it! And now Morgan...my lil fragile emotions can't take much more frustration! however there was more HIPS! haha

Great update, pwease post the next part real soon!?

Oh Damn

Postby serendipitous » Mon Nov 01, 2004 11:13 am

Wow. What a great update! My Internet was down for a few days and then I went on a horseback riding trip and when I got back, this wonderful fic was updated! What a great welcome home! But, oh, the cliffhangers and the beginnings of ANOTHER possible angsty situation. I know that the angst will make the eventual matching of Tara and Willow that much sweeter, but it definitely doesn't make it any easier to bear!

But, I do agree with YunaMaClay, I like Morgan and she seems to be a truely nice person although she obviously can't be with Tara! :no I wonder if Buffy suspects anything at this point. Some of her reactions seems to suggest that she may know more about Tara's feelings than one might think.

Because it seems like Tara and Willow keep dancing around their feelings, I wouldn't be surprised if Buffy or Xander somehow spill the beans. And then we'll finally have our sweet reward! Great writing! Hope there is an update soon! :peace
