Distribution: Email me, and I will say yes.
Feedback: This is my first COMPLETED fic, so feedback would be cool.
Setting: This is set in happier times, Season 5 mid-terms, since Tara was brain-sucked during the whole end of the season, and no one has ever seen the Scoobies take a final anyway.
Ohter Stuff: Thanks to my sweetie (WillowLikeWhoa) for inspiration! On with the story!
Tara Maclay stretched out across the bed lazily, rolling onto her back. Her blonde hair fell across the fluffy comforter; a few strands of hair fell off the edge of the bed, where a small black and white kitten began to bat it the new toy. Tara giggled at the kitten and tilted her head back. This gave her a nice upside-down view of Willow Rosenberg sitting at her laptop, which was set up on the nearby desk. Tara grinned and rolled back onto her stomach, putting a note card into her textbook to mark the place she had left off. She propped herself up on her elbows and watched as Willow put the finishing touches on the bibliography for her last mid-term essay. Just then, Willow turned around in the chair and winked at Tara. "How goes the study?" the red headed girl asked.
"Mmm, it went." Tara noted, pushing the textbook around the bed with her bare feet. "How about yours, now that the Killer Essay is out of the way?" she grinned.
"Gotta review for Chem," Willow sighed, backing up the essay onto a floppy and closing the laptop.
Tara patted the bed beside her invitingly. "Never got the whole desk thing. Sit with me?" Miss Kitty obligingly leapt up onto the bed as best she could, grabbing onto the blanket with her tiny claws and pulling herself up. She skittered around after the textbook, hoping she could bite its shiny surface.
Willow smiled and brought her massive chemistry notebook and text over and sat on the bed cross-legged. "Wanna hand me my calculator, baby?" she asked. Tara sat up and crawled to the other side of the bed, pulling Willow’s backpack up off the floor and unzipping the front pocket. She pulled out the calculator, set the backpack down again, and handed the calculator over. Willow, meanwhile, had taken the stack of blank note cards and a set of several ballpoint pens, none with the same color ink, and began to go over her notes.
Tara played with the kitten, not wanting to interrupt Willow's study. She was hiding her hand underneath the comforter and making the blanket move. The kitten loved this game, crouching low and flicking her little tail excitedly as she watched the blanket move. Every so often she would pounce clumsily onto Tara’s hand, trying to sink her needle-like teeth into the blanket. After about ten minutes, Miss Kitty tired of this game, expressing her disinterest by yawning hugely. She proceeded to jump off the bed, stumbling a bit on the landing, and moving to her favored sleeping place, the big cushion-y chair in the corner by the girls’ dresser. Tara watched as the tiny cat washed her face and paws carefully and curled up to sleep.
The blonde then turned back to Willow, who sat leaned over her notes and text, a look of intense concentration on her face. Tara found this completely adorable, and couldn’t keep a playful grin off her face. She lay on her side, now studying her preferred subject: Willow. The way her hair fell around her eyes, her profile, the way her lips always seemed to be ready to smile or laugh. Finally noticing Tara was looking at her with the same concentration she had herself been reviewing her chemistry, Willow looked over at her girlfriend. "And what’s on your study-list for the rest of the evening?" Willow asked teasingly.
"Well, all I have tomorrow is History of Art II … and I’m all ready for that. I thought I’d just study you instead," Tara said easily.
"Oh you did, did you?" Willow said, mock-startled by the very idea.
Tara nodded and leaned over Willow’s note cards. "I like how you put all the formulas in different colors," the blonde grinned. "It’s cute."
"Cute! This is a highly efficient system!" Willow exclaimed, enjoying the attention.
Tara points to a formula. "Is that a ‘u’?"
Willow picks the card up and looks at the sliver-gray formula. "No, it’s a ‘v’ … why?"
"Because I thought it said something else," Tara teased with a laugh.
"Look here, missy," Willow laughed, setting the card down in play-outrage, her eyes dancing with happiness, "You tease me about my colors, you pick on my writing…." Both girls burst out laughing, and Willow pounced on Tara, different colored pens clattering to the floor in a rainbow-hued heap. Tara let out a squeak and giggled, letting Willow snuggle against her. The chemistry book, forgotten, lay open, note cards scattered over it liberally.
"We should study more often," Tara grinned, wrapping her arms around Willow and holding her close. Miss Kitty was roused by the noise, opening one green eye to see what was going on. Her humans were happy, so she stretched and settled back into sleep.
