Wonderful Cam, what a great return to pick this story up running. I'm sure I've mentioned this in a previous fb, but I'm a bit of a Deadwood fan, the HBO show that was canceled well before it's time; basically, Shakespere in the Old West, with liberal amounts of cussing. I admit that it's influenced how I read GER, which is both good and bad. Good because they're both amazing stories, great works that I find myself getting wrapped up in every time I read/watch. Bad, because I keep expecting the characters to go off in some ornate monologue, for Tara to overhear Willow saying to her friends in another room, "would you not be scared? Afraid that the fair barmaid would find my true self to be so abominable that she may run, nay, sprint, her way back to her brother's loving arms?" That, or just a lot of really bad language. (Not that there's anything wrong with that...) :) I say all this, because even despite Deadwood seeping into my consciousness whilst I read GER, I'm still immensely enjoying your story because of your writing; your descriptions, your dialogue and your plot. As amusing as a Deadwood flavored GER would be, I prefer your version, and look forward to each update. Like the rest of your stories, it just flows, and is so entertaining to read. Great job. (And wow, I'm pretty sure that previous paragraph didn't make sense; excuse me if it didn't, I'm battling some food poisoning today and it ain't pretty.)

Specific to this update, I loved Tara overhearing Willow consulting with her peeps. First, because it moves thoughts along in Tara's head, and second because it's nice to see Willow getting some support, even if that support is challenging her perceptions. Damn shame that the dyno-MITE was stolen, but probably for the best. I'm surprised they made it to where they are now considering the amount of dyno-MITE in that rickity wagon - so lucky they didn't get 'blowed up' like that science teacher on Lost. Willow's plot was noble, but ultimately futile, as Tara points out. Xander with dyno-MITE? That's probably not a good thing (see, 'science teacher from Lost who got blowed up'). Can't wait to see what happens with that; I suspect something is going to get blowed up. ;) As with everyone else, I'm sure, I loved the 'you're a good man,' 'no I'm not' exchange. Pretty perfect, and a great example of why I continue to love your writing. Again, great job my friend.

Thanks Cam!

I just read the entire story today and I love it! My favourite parts are 'the storyteller' and her embellishments and interactions with the girls and the mysterious grayhaired woman; the whole bit when Tara comes to after being knocked unconscious - Hilarious and yes, ornery Tara IS a force to be reckoned with (or run away from); Clem as an old guy with some serious skin issues; Tara having to take the lead at dancing - I can so relate to not being a good lead :(

Oh and as a Native woman I love Will's concerns about how the west was 'settled'.

the kitten ranch with all the cameos - brilliant. Couldn't help but think of the ol' sayin' 'bout tryin' ta herd them cats :)

I can't wait for an update! Please keep'em comin'.

Hello :)

I love when people hear things they aren't supposed to and then come in the room back more loudly. ALways makes me love. Too bad Willow didn't clearly said something that would not let a doubt about her womanhood; But at the same time.. it is better.
This tells us the story is definitely not approaching an ending and I don't want it to end. I love the story. :blush

About the dynamit... I have to re read but I don't remember you writing about him taking it... So this means 1) He took it but you didn't tell us; 2) He didn't take it and we have to find who did.
In the first case I can think of one explanation. He would like to protect Will by doing so... You know having good intention and all.

Anyway, I guess I'll discover this by reading the next chapters. No problem I'll be there.

Thanks for your update.

Waiting patiently for he next...

Friendly,

Julia

Oooh! An udpdate!

You *do* know that the way you drop hints and string poor Tara along is both brilliant and evil, right?

I love the slapstickness of it all. I can totally see Willow with a lightbulb over her head switching on when she realizes that maybe din-o-mite maybe *wasn't* the *only* solution!

*giggle*

I love it!

Hee, dynamite - Westerns plus explosives are always fun. Good to see Tara talking Will out of her plan of detonative social activism. I liked that touch to Willow's character, as the Red Bandit - nasty period of history, it makes sense that a well-meaning and somewhat impulsive person like Will could wind up being an outlaw in a good cause.

Funny thing, the longer Tara's mistaken belief that Willow is Will goes on, the more fun it becomes, in spite of the subtle tension there - it's sweet that they're connecting in spite of it. And it's going to be extra-sweet when Tara finally learns the truth :blush

I actually just read this whole thing on Through The Looking Glass the other day, and was really pleasantly surprised. I'm not usually into Westerns of any shape or size, but I find this really enjoyable. Exactly the kind of fic I like... Also, nice to see Donnie in a positive light. I really like the idea of Tara having a good, if misguided, brother/family influence.

Really enjoyable. Thanks.

Please update soon. *puppy dog eyes*
For all those words of tongue and pen, the saddest are those: "It might have been."

Tara ended up next to Oz in the elevator. He looked at her, nodding to himself.
"What?" She asked.
"You look good. Kinda radiant."
Tara nodded. "I was resurrected a few days ago."
Oz arched an eyebrow. "That'll do it."

Hey Cameron,

A word of thanks as I spent quite an enjoyable time reading your story last night. I loved the western theme and how you chose to show that love is a universal theme that cuts across gender. That was a beautiful representation of it and specifically a different way of viewing the issue by having Willow adorn the male role and Tara loving her all the same irrespective of who s/he is.

Pretty good idea!
