The End of Dayz - 4th Installment of The Soulmate Series

Postby WilTaraFan » Mon Jun 10, 2002 8:24 pm

Woo hoo, the next story of the Soulmate Series is here. This is the beginning update to The End of Dayz. I hope you enjoy the beginning. And please, in your reply posts, let me know what you thought about the opening update. Am I starting this in the right direction, do you see problems with it? Please, let me know.

Alright, for those of you who read the bible, please don't take any offense by this story. The whole End of Days thing, I believe, was taken out of some scriptures in the bible. This whole story is just meant for fun and enjoyment. That's the only reason I write fanfiction.

Also, you'll be able to tell by this first update who I'm working Buffy to be involved with. It's been pointed out to me that having her with Jacob is bad because of his quest, but just read and you'll understand. Now, the second scene of this story is going to have a major plot twist that I'm fairly certain no one will be expecting. Just be warned.

Here it comes!!!!!!!

Kudos!!!

:bounce DISCLAIMERS :bounce

Disclaimer: I don't own Buffy, Dawn, Willow, Tara, Anya, Xander, Giles, or any of the other familiar characters seen on Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. Joss Whedon owns all of the characters of the show, because the show is his beauty and up until the end of this season, I loved it. I just hated the ending.

Spoilers: This story started unraveling in my head after I watched Entrophy and seen the important scenes of Seeing Red. I haven't seen the entire episode yet, but I will. I don't have UPN, so I've been downloading full episodes from the Internet to see this past season. So far, my favorite episode is Entrophy....because Willow and Tara get back together. That's one of the big reasons I became a fan of the show. Anyway, this story is set after the last episode of Season 6, I believe it's Grave.

Author's Note: This is the fourth installment to the Soulmate Series. Also, as you can tell, this story is a parody, in my own little way, of the Arnold Swartzenegger film, End of Days. Of course, there are changes in it to better fit my story, but you can easily tell. Pretty much like I took the whole Blade concept and changed it slightly to my story Returning. Same principle here. So, the ideas for End of Days goes to everyone involved in the creation of End of Days. Now, my villain here, as you'll read, is named Kell. The name and face that's going to go with him belong to the creaters of the Highlander films and tv show. Kell comes from the movie Highlander Endgame. Emails are always welcome at letsrocket_1998@yahoo.com. Enjoy.

Prologue....

Rome, 1979.

With squinting eyes, a man stood in front of an opened window, staring at the night sky. His eyes were focused on one point of the sky in particular. He was dressed in a brown robe and he had a long silver chair over his neck with a gold cross crucifix hanging on the chain. The man's hands rested on the window sill as his eyes gazed at the full moon and the object above the moon.

The man in the robe shook his head several times and each time the image in the sky wouldn't fade away. "The event we've feared for centuries has begun." the man whispered to himself, as no one else was in the room with him. Turning from the window, he walked towards a shiny silver case that lay still on the table in the center of the room.

Flipping open both hatches at the top of the case, the man looked inside. There were numerous smaller cone shaped cases inside. The man with the dark hair picked one up, knowing it by heart as he was known as the only member of The Order of Makhali who constantly studied the ancient prophecies. Taking the top off the cone shaped case, he took out a carefully rolled up scroll with ancient diagrams and ancient text painted and scribbled on it. Unrolling it to a certain part of the scroll, the man returned to the window and glanced at the moon and what was above it and then at the diagram illustrated on the scroll.

Sighing in resignation, the robed man closed his eyes. He stayed there with his eyes closed for several long and ominous minutes before he turned and headed to the lower chambers of the building where the Order of Makhali were based. He wasted no time in getting where he needed to be. He entered a wide circular chamber where other robed figures were sitting and speaking with each other. At the very far side of the chamber was an elderly man in the same type robes. The man had long white hair and a white beard and mustache.

The aura of respect and experience that surrounded him attested to his being the elder of the Order. The man kneeled before the older man and bowed his hand. "Forgive me for intruding." the robed man with the scroll intoned.

"What is it?" the older man said.

"Sir, it's happened. The Eye of Bane has appeared." the robed man said, showing the scroll to them.

The other robed figures gathered near at hearing the man speak of the Eye of Bane.

"The Eye of Bane?" a different robed man said.

The man with the scroll nodded. "Yes. The Eye has appeared in the night sky."

A slightly heavier robed man stepped forward. He had a white mustache and short white hair. "If the Eye's appeared, then the countdown to HIS release has begun."

"Yes," the Order's elder said, "when the Eye of Bane appears, twenty three years pass thee and the Dark Son of Dekhleti will rise to bring about the End of Dayz."

They all looked at each other. What their elder had just spoken were the words transcribed into the prophecy that the robed man held in his hand. Since the Eye of Bane appeared over the full moon, then it meant that in twenty three years time, the Dark Son of the demon Dekleti would rise from the depths of hell to bring about the End of Dayz on Earth.

"What can we do?" the robed man with the scroll asked.

The elder man leaned back in his chair. "Us...we can do nothing. We are not equipped to battle the Dark Son. But we must make the Council of Watchers aware of our concern and aware of the prophecy. When the day comes that the Dark Son rises, the Slayer will be called upon to deal with him. We must have faith in her."

Silence reigned over the entire group of robed figures. But the man with the white mustache narrowed his eyes slightly, not liking the elder's view on the matter. Not liking it one bit.

Part 1

Sunnydale, 2002.

Willow Rosenberg knotted her hands together, rubbing her fingers over and over again. She was nervous. Actually, she was beyond nervous. She hated being where she was and she hated it even more that her fiancée, Tara Maclay, had no idea that she was here. The redheaded witch was wearing one of her favorite dresses. It was the nice pink colored one she'd wore the day the demon Sweet had come to Sunnydale. It was the day that Tara had sung that beautiful love song to her that Willow could still hear ringing in her ears.

As she smoothed her hands over the light fabric, she remembered why it was one of her favorites. Tara had told her that night that she loved that dress. Of course, it was the day before Willow thought her relationship with Tara ended completely. But thankfully the redhead was wrong about that. Willow looked up as the door across the room from her opened.

A nurse entered the waiting area of the clinic Willow was at and approached her. "Miss Rosenberg?" the nurse questioned.

Willow rose. "Yes?"

"Dr. Shaw can see you now." the nurse said, motioning Willow to follow her.

Willow followed the nurse to a back room, where she entered. Dr. Shaw was waiting there with a chart in her hand. My chart. the redhead thought with a tingle of dread. "Dr. Shaw." Willow said, looking like she was ready to bolt.

"Willow, relax." Helen Shaw told her. "Have a seat."

Willow sat down on a plastic chair and regarded the doctor while Helen Shaw made a few marks on the chart before looking at the nervous redhead. "How are you feeling?" the doctor asked.

"Nervous." Willow replied.

Dr. Shaw nodded. "Alright, I'll get right to the point, Willow. We ran the tests after you were here last and....well I'm kind of surprised by the results."

Willow tilted her head. "What do you mean?"

Helen sighed, moving her rolling stool closer. "Willow, you came in here last week because you were having stomach pains, remember?"

"Yeah." Willow was starting to worry. She had woken up one day last weak with a painful stomach ache and she had later thrown up. Tara had been downstairs at the time, so the redhead had been able to keep that secret.

"When you showed up here, all I figured we'd find was maybe you'd ate something that gave you a fever or something like that. What I found in your test results are completely different." Dr. Shaw said.

Willow leaned forward. "Is it that bad?" The idea of something horrible happening right now was not an option for Willow. With the wedding rapidly approaching and the fall semester of school almost there, Willow didn't need anymore complications in her life.

Dr. Shaw leaned back. "Well, that depends on your viewpoint, I guess."

"What?" Willow was getting confused now.

Helen took a breath. "Willow, you're pregnant."

Silence. More silence. Even more silence. A little more silence followed, then Willow's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. Wha...did she just....what did she say....I'm pre.....I'm preg....pregnant. But....

Seeing Willow's disbelief, Dr. Shaw nodded. "Yes Willow, you are pregnant."

Swallowing hard, Willow slowly shook her head. "No...it's not possible Dr. Shaw. I don't sleep with guys....well, not anymore. I can't be pregnant. I haven't been with a man in over three years. You've made some kind of mistake."

"Willow, there is no mistake. I've run the tests three different times to be sure. You do have a life growing inside you. The stomach pains you felt last week was the morning sickness that all expectant mothers go through." Dr. Shaw said as delicately as she could. "Now, I need to tell you a couple things. First, once you leave the clinic, you need to tell Tara about this. She needs to know. I'm going to give you some medication that will help you relax. You don't need to over exert yourself."

"But....how did this happen? I know how women get pregnant and I can tell you with absolute sureness that there was no guy involved." Willow stammered.

Dr. Shaw nodded. "Well, I would think that Tara's involved in it."

Willow's eyes popped again. "But......how...."

Dr. Shaw sighed, she knew Willow was a witch and she had thought the redhead would have known this by now. "Willow, you're a witch, Tara's a witch. Never mind how I know, I just do. Listen to me, I've lived in this town for ten years now and I've seen some pretty amazing things. And two women creating a child together isn't as far fetched as it sounds."

"It's not?"

"Absolutely not." the doctor said. "First of all, there are powerful spells that can help two women have a child together. I'm surprised neither of you have looked those type of spells up together."

"I didn't know those type of spells existed." the redhead said. "When did we...do....what we did?"

Dr. Shaw looked at her chart again. "The results of the test we did indicates that your child was conceived around the middle of June."

Willow let her mind drift to that time, trying to remember any of their nights together that could have been the night. Her eyes widened as she remembered one night. The night Willow had proposed to Tara. That night, the two of them had made love several times and as Willow thought about it, she realized that the entire night had seemed more intense to both of them. Slowly, a delighted smile broke across her face.

Dr. Shaw shared the smile. "So, this is good news then?"

Willow nodded. "Yes, very good news. I just have to find out if it'll be good news to Tara."

Rising, the doctor squeezed her shoulder. "Willow, she loves you and I'm sure she's going to be thrilled. Give me five minutes and I'll have the relaxants ready."

After the doctor left the room, Willow closed her eyes and sighed happily. When she thought things couldn't get better for them, things had to go and get better. She was pregnant. She was pregnant with Tara's child. No, she corrected herself, she was pregnant with their child. Their first child. She rubbed her stomach and let her smile widen across her face. She hoped her lover would welcome this news as happily as she was. In her heart, she knew the answer to that.

---**---

Rights and lefts. Lefts and rights. A right left combination. A left right combination. The Vampire Slayer, Buffy Summers, used all those as she moved against the boxing bag that was suspended in the training room in the Magic Box. She was wearing a single white tank top and a pair of dark black sweats as she worked on her fighting techniques. The Watcher had offered to train with her, but she wanted to do this training session alone.

She needed to think. As the month of July was winding down and it was less than four days from August, Buffy was considering returning to school with Willow and Tara. Buffy had already taken over a year off. She had been turned down from registration because she'd applied a little too late, but she blamed her being dead on that. As she hit the bag, Buffy let her thoughts drift to a certain male about her age who also had a destiny that he hated.

Jacob. The Slayer let her mind linger over the name. She liked the way it sounded in her head. It was like it fit him. Jacob the Daywalker. It sounded nice to Buffy's ears. Buffy sighed before she began her kicking combinations against the bag. Her feelings for Jacob hadn't changed in recent weeks. In fact, they seemed to get stronger as she found herself thinking more about him with each day. Jacob had returned to Sunnydale after putting Amy in that monastery in the mountains. He hadn't been back long, just a couple weeks, but Buffy found herself wanting to spend more and more of her time with him. She couldn't explain it. She just felt something for him that she hadn't felt since Angel.

She didn't even count her history with Spike. She shuddered just thinking of the blonde vampire. Especially the last moment she'd seen him. She shook her head, wanting to get rid of the thoughts of Spike. Almost being raped by someone you were beginning to trust was a blow to the heart. Even though her feelings weren't love, Buffy had felt something for Spike and what he'd almost done to her felt like a savage betrayal. She was glad he wasn't in Sunnydale anymore, but she was pretty sure he'd be back one day. She made sure to be ready when that day came. She let herself continue to think about Jacob.

From everything she'd been told from Giles about Jacob, the Daywalker wasn't ready or willing to let himself settle down with anyone until he found the vampire responsible for his mother's attack. Buffy felt sympathy for how Jacob came to be, but she knew that it couldn't be prevented because his destiny, like hers, was laid out before he was born. It was something he was fated to become and as much as he hated it, he had to fulfill his destiny, just like she did.

The outer door of the training room slowly opened and Buffy turned to see who stood there. She smiled slightly at the visitor. "Jacob, hey."

Jacob nodded at her as he entered. He was wearing a pair of his normal black pants with his black short sleeved shirt on. He looked around the recently repaired and rebuilt training room with appraising eyes. "This is a nice training room." he mentioned.

"Yeah, I've always liked it." Buffy said. "Giles and Xander helped arrange it for me."

"Well, it's a nice one I must say." Jacob said, stopping in front of her. "So, how long have you been training today?"

"I've been going at this bag for a couple hours." Buffy replied. "It's getting kind of old, though. But I needed it. I've had a lot to think about."

"Really?" Jacob said, picking up a sword and twirling it with expert ability.

Buffy watched him move with the sword for a few moments. "Yeah, a lot to think about." she murmured, watching him.

Realizing he was being watched, he stopped moving the blade in circles and looked at her. "Wh...why are you looking at me like that?"

Buffy shook her head, snapping out of her gaze. "Sorry, just thinking."

"Mind if I ask about what?" Jacob asked.

"You." came the honest answer, much to her own surprise.

Jacob looked just as surprised. He looked at the floor. "Buffy..."

"I know." she sighed. "I've talked to Giles about you. Finding your mother's attacker is your top priority, right. No time to have a relationship until it's done."

"No, that's not all there is to it." Jacob said. "Buffy, I like you. Hell, I more than like you. I won't lie, I have feelings for you. Where they came from I don't know. I just know that whenever I try to leave Sunnydale, I always end up coming back because I wanna see you." he said. "It's just....I've dedicated the better part of my life searching for the vampire who made me what I am. I have a lot swirling emotions running through me right now. I just need some time to sort through what I want to do."

Buffy nodded, accepting that as as close to an answer as she could get. She walked over and grabbed a separate sword. "You wanna test your skills against a real opponent?" she asked.

He laughed. "Sure, bring it on Slayer."

"Here I come Daywalker." Buffy said with a smirk as she clashed her sword against his.

---**---

Tara Maclay entered the Magic Box. The bell at the top of the door rang to prove her entrance into the magic store. Anya, who was standing behind the counter, looked up as she entered and waved a hello at her. Tara waved back as she walked towards the center of the room, where the circular table was situated. "Hey Anya." Tara greeted the vengeance demon.

"Hello Tara." Anya said. "Not that I'm not glad to see you, but why are you here?"

Tara shrugged as she sat down. She was wearing her pink jeans and her pink mixed colored shirt that she'd worn at this very Magic Box when Buffy had came in and given them a false thanks for bringing her back. She had her hair hanging free, no restrictions holding them in a ponytail. She liked her hair when it was blowing in the breeze. "I got bored sitting at home. Dawn's out with that Clem guy and I know Buffy's busy. Willow's taking care of something, she wouldn't tell me what. So, I decided to come down here."

Anya walked over and sat down across from the witch and rested her hands on top of it. She studied the blonde haired woman. "How are those chest pains doing?" she asked.

Tara leaned back in her chair. "They're coming a little less frequently now."

"Is that a good thing?" Anya asked, interested.

"I don't know. The last time they started hitting me less frequently was just before a major one hit me. I'm just kind of worried that the same thing's happening here."

"What does your doctor tell you?" the vengeance demon asked.

Tara looked at her knees. "Dr. Shaw keeps telling me to just keep taking my medicine."

Anya nodded, realizing Tara didn't want to talk about it. The demon wouldn't force her. "You wanna help me shelve some books?"

Tara nodded, accepting the change in topic. She rose and walked over to where there were some boxes of books lying on the floor. Pulling over a chair, she began going through them and putting them on the shelves. About fifteen minutes later, she had gotten through one box of the books and half of another box when the bell jingled. Tara looked over and smiled as her girlfriend walked in. As Willow made her way over to her, Tara could see that the redhead was absolutely beaming with giddy happiness. She wondered what that was about.

Tara was on her feet as Willow reached her. Without saying anything, the redhead raised her hands and gently wrapped them in Tara's blonde tresses. Regardless of the snickering Anya behind them, Willow locked her lips with Tara's for several long seconds, giving her lover a resounding kiss with her lips and tongue. After hearing Anya's throat clearing, Willow reluctantly pulling back.

"Now that was a kiss!" Anya exclaimed, surprised that Willow had done it.

Willow kept her gaze on Tara's face as the blonde's eyes were shut as she had enjoyed the kiss thoroughly. Stroking Tara's cheek, Willow let a smile light up her face as Tara reopened her eyes. "Hey baby." Willow said.

"Hey." Tara replied, letting her hands rest on Willow's hips.

Willow rubbed the back of Tara's neck as she smiled. "There's something I need to tell you."

Tara's eyebrows lifted. "Yeah? What is it?"

Willow led her lover over to the table and they sat down. "I don't want to tell you here. Why don't we go out tonight? We can go to that restaurant you like."

"What's the occasion?" Tara asked.

"Ah ah!" Willow shook her finger at her. "You're gonna have to wait until tonight."

"Okay, just tell me one thing. Is it good news?" Tara asked.

Willow smiled. "I definitely think so. You'll just have to wait until tonight."

The two women leaned forward and kissed. As they broke the contact, the door to the training room opened and Buffy exited with Jacob. Both of their skin was slick with sweat from the training the two of them went through. Buffy was very impressed with Jacob's ability with the sword. And although Buffy was slightly better at the sword than Jacob was, Jacob had her beat when it came to hand to hand combat. She hadn't found a sparring partner this good since Angel. And Jacob was slightly better than Angel had been.

"Hey guys." Buffy greeted her two friends.

"Hey Buffy." Willow greeted.

"Hello Jacob." Tara said.

"How are you guys doing?" Jacob asked.

"We're doing good." Tara answered. "Willow wants us to go out tonight, so don't expect us back for a few hours."

Buffy nodded. She was going to head to the house to shower, but Willow rose and grabbed her arm. "Can I talk to you for a minute?" she asked.

Buffy nodded. "Okay."

"I'll be right back, baby." Willow told her lover.

Tara watched Willow lead Buffy away and sighed. She really hated not knowing what Willow was going to tell her tonight. Oh well. Tara thought to herself. She'd find out tonight when they had their dinner. She started chatting with Jacob.

In the training room, Willow pulled Buffy to a stop in the center of it. "Alright Will, what's going on?" the Slayer asked.

Willow bit her bottom lip. "You remember last week when I went to see the doctor?"

"Of course. You had me cover for you with Tara, which is something I didn't like to do. Keeping secrets from your girlfriend is not a wise decision Willow." Buffy told her.

Willow sighed. "I know. But it's only going to be until tonight. I went back to the doc's office today to find out the results of the tests they ran and Dr. Shaw told me something...something very unexpected."

"Oh really. What would that be?" Buffy asked, totally unprepared for the response.

Willow smiled. "Buffy, I'm pregnant."

Buffy staggered backwards at the news. "Pregnant?" she whispered. She was at a loss as to what to say. Willow was pregnant. Willow was PREGNANT! Buffy's eyebrows hiked up to her hairline. "Wow, uh.....is this.....I mean....are you happy about it?"

"At first, it was kind of a shock, but the more I think about it, the more I can't wait to have this baby and raise it with Tara." Willow said. Feeling the need rush over her, she pulled her friend into a hug. Buffy hugged her back, happy to see her best friend in such high spirits.

"I'm happy for you Will. This is you and Tara's doing, right? I mean, no guy involved?"

Willow shook her head. "No, there's no guy involved here. The night I proposed to Tara is the night I think it happened. I remember everything was more intense that night than any of the others. We've made love plenty of times, but that night.....every touch, every caress....it was so much more powerful than anytime before."

Buffy smiled at her friend, patting her on the cheek. "I'm happy for you Will. And since you're happy about it, let me warn you. Aunt Buffy is going to be babysitting that little toddler, got it?"

"I got it." Willow smiled, feeling the warmth of her happiness fill her. Tonight would be perfect. She'd tell Tara and they would return to the house and probably make love. Well, if Willow had anything to say about it, they'd definitely be making love.

I want to tell you how much I love your writing. I have enjoyed all of "The Soulmate Series." This story is certainly no different. I love the way you have started. It is so sweet Willow is pregnant.

I am going to take a wild guess and say Spike is the one who killed Jacob's mother and made him the daywalker. I don't put anything past that murdering, manipulative rapist.

Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.

Tara: Willow, I got so lost.
Willow: I found you. I will always find you.

At an undisclosed location, four figures stood. Each figure stood on each side of a square made out of blood. The first figure was a woman with short dark hair. She had creamy white skin and pale blue eyes. Like the others, she held her arms outstretched above her head, palms facing outward. To her right was a man about her same height with short black hair and he was of Oriental descent. His right hand had a ring on the pinky finger. To the woman's other side stood a large beef of a man. He was a black man with a mostly bald head. He had long black hair that started at the back of his head. He had dark eyes. And across from the woman was a white man a little taller than she was. He had white hair and green eyes.

All four of them had their hands above them as they waited for the perfect moment to do what they came here to do.

"It is time." the woman said, her voice crisp and commanding.

"Let's do it, then." the black man intoned.

"By the powers of darkness, here our call." the Oriental man said.

"By the lords of hell, unlock your doors." the white haired man said.

"Give to the Earth that which it most fears." the black man intoned.

"Release the Dark Son. His time has come. Release the Dark Son." the woman said in a clear and rich voice.

Multicolored spectrals of energy crackled from their palms and started shooting together, the combined energies forming a small ball of energy. The ball of energy began to grow in size and the four figures began moving back as the ball enlarged. Moving back until they were enough feet away, they lowered their arms as they awaited the event to transpire.

The ball of energy began to metamorphisize right in front of them. It slowly turned from being a ball of energy to forming a circular vortex. As the four of them watched with rising emotions of elation, a figure exited the portal and landed on his hands and knees. The figure had the appearance of a man, bare naked.

Raising his head, the man slowly rose to his bare feet, staring at the four of them. His body was nicely built, with strong muscles throughout his body. He had incredibly short hair, very pale looking hair, and it was cut like most military officer's have their hair cut. Moving forward, the woman grabbed the black robe with the ancient writings on it and draped it over his shoulders. "Dark Son, welcome to Earth." she said.

The bare naked man allowed her to cover his flesh with the robe. His lips turned upward into a smile as he glanced at them. "It's good to finally be here." he said. "We have much to do. Let's get started."

He slowly began walking towards the vehicles the four men used. The others smiled wickedly at each other. The Dark Son had risen from hell and it was now just a matter of time before the End of Dayz was brought forth. The end of the world was coming and they couldn't be happier.

Night time fell over the city of Sunnydale. The streets were mostly silent, the people not wanting to be there as that was the time when vampires and demons liked to come out to look for fresh meat to feast on. Inside one of the busier restaurants, however, two familiar people were sitting at a dinner with a romantic setting, eating dinner. Willow Rosenberg and her finacée, Tara Maclay, sat across from each other, enjoying their dinner.

At the moment, Buffy was out patrolling and Anya was spending some time over at Xander's. Buffy had given Dawn the okay to head over to Janice's for the night. And the witches, as Willow had promised, were at the restaurant. Willow hadn't changed her outfit, she still wore the pink dress. Tara, on the other hand, had chosen to dress up for the night out. She'd changed into one of her crimson red dresses with the different patterns sown at different places on it and the pink top with the darker pink leaves designed on it that she'd wore all the way back when that spirit they'd created with the spell that brought Buffy back. She hadn't worn it since then and she thought now would be the perfect chance. She had her hair pulled back into a single ponytail.

The redhead had ordered a lasagna dinner meal with a side order of corn and rise. Tara had ordered the chicken tender dinner with a side order of fries with a side order of corn with it. Both women were drinking some champagne with their meal. Tara eyed her lover over the rim of her glass. "So um.....you kinda implied tonight was a special night. Is there some reason why?" the blonde asked.

Willow looked up and tried hard not to smile. "Before I go into that, I need to ask you something."

Dipping a fry into the ketchup, Tara ate the fry. "Go ahead and ask away darling."

Willow smiled at the compliment. "Do you remember that talk we had last year?"

"Which one are you talking about?" Tara asked, sipping her champagne.

Willow leaned back in her seat and crossed her legs. "That time I suggested us having a child one day." she said, managing to keep the gaze of her lover. She had been trying all day to come up with the right way of asking, but now that the time was here, all she really wanted to do was grab Tara by the shoulders and say 'I'm pregnant'. But she knew she had to work it into the conversation first.

Tara's face stilled as she recalled the conversation. Willow had indeed broached the subject with her and the blonde could remember the length and detail that they had gone to in speaking with each other about it. Back then, there hadn't been any problems between them, no abuse of magic, no putting a spell on Tara, nothing. They had been completely happy and at peace with each other. Tara smiled at the memory. "Yes, I remember that talk Will." Tara replied.

"And.....do you.....do you still feel that way?" she asked, needing Tara's answer.

Tara furrowed her brow. "Of course I do. Willow, I do want to have a baby with you. Things are going so well between us and I can't wait until we have a baby."

Willow let one end of her lips turn into a smile. "I'm glad you feel that way." she said. "I sort of have something to tell you."

Part of what Willow was trying to say was already clicking in Tara's mind, but she couldn't give voice to it until she heard Willow say it. "Okay."

Willow took a deep breath. "Tara, last week.....last week I had a case of some stomach pains and I went to see Dr. Shaw."

"Are you okay?" concern evident in Tara's voice. Dr. Shaw had become Tara and Willow's personal doctor and they agreed to only go to her if there was an emergency.

Willow nodded. "Yeah. Dr. Shaw did some tests and I had to go see her again today. That's where I was this morning. I didn't want to tell you until I found out what was wrong."

Tara swallowed, feeling a small tingle in her stomach that was telling her that her entire world was about to shift. She gazed into her lover's eyes. "What did Dr. Shaw find out?"

Willow reached out with her right hand and grabbed Tara's left, interlacing their fingers. She gave Tara a full cheek to cheek smile. "Tara...baby......I'm pregnant. You and I are going to have a baby."

Tara was completely still, save for her chest as she breathed through her mouth. Tara's eyes were a bit widened as the news registered with her. In some small way, this was the news she had been expecting to hear, but to actually hear it....that was something different all together. She rubbed Willow's fingers with her own as she stayed silent, just mesmerizing the moment. Pregnant. Willow's pregnant. Willow's pregnant. Willow's pregnant. the thought kept going through her mind, not really believing it. Several moments passed before a small delighted smile passed over her face, the happiness she was starting to feel lighting up her entire face. Willow's pregnant!!!!

Willow relaxed somewhat and began to return the smile as she saw the delight coursing through her lover's body. Then, Tara did something that Willow was suddenly unprepared for. Using the fingers that were interlaced with hers, Tara pulled Willow closer to her, meeting her lips halfway in a sizzling and heated kiss. They were half standing over their dinner and champagne as they thoroughly kissed each other with a passion that they usually shared in their room. Tara's right hand rose up and cupped the back of Willow's neck, pushing her mouth against her own. When Willow parted her lips, Tara immediately pushed her tongue inside Willow's warm mouth and the kiss took on new heights for them both.

Willow let herself drown in the sensations caused by this heated kiss. She kissed Tara back with just as much passion as the blonde was kissing her with. She moved her lips against Tara's and let her tongue gently mesh with her lover's. The kiss lasted only a few more moments before they both reluctantly broke off their lips. Tara rested her forehead against Willow's and took deep breaths. They were lucky their table was in the far corner or they would have gotten stares from the more prejudiced members of Sunnydale's society.

Sitting back down, Tara let her eyes close as she basked in the glow that the kiss brought to them. Her eyes were only shut for a few moments before a sound made her eyes flutter open. Willow had moved from sitting across from her to moving her chair and sitting to Tara's left. Without speaking, Willow brought her right arm and wrapped it around Tara's shoulders, rubbing Tara's right arm. Tara melted into Willow's arm, laying her head down on Willow's shoulder and letting out ragged breaths.

It wasn't just the kiss that was making her silently cry. It was the knowledge, just knowing, that she and Willow had done with science says is an impossibility. They had come together through their love and their connection, their very bond, and created a life within Willow. A life that both witches knew even now that they would love and cherish for the remainder of their lives. Willow embraced Tara, cradling her in her arms as she let the blonde cry on her shoulder.

A few minutes later, Tara raised her head and raised her hand to wipe the tears off her cheeks. Willow intercepted the hand and shook her head when the blonde gazed at her. Willow smiled and took her left hand and gently began wiping the tears away and rubbing Tara's cheek with her fingers. Willow let her hand stay there and she gazed lovingly at her lover, the holder of her heart and keeper of her soul. "I love you." she whispered, leaving a gentle kiss on her lover's lips.

Tara let a smile graze her face as she kissed Willow back. "I love you too." she murmured, basking in the closeness between them. The closeness she'd thought she'd lost.

The two women enjoyed the rest of their dinner and didn't rush things at all. They knew when they returned to the house, they'd be able to take their time and thoroughly love each other well into the night. And they were looking forward to each and every moment of it.

Moving through the cemetery at a leisurely pace, Buffy Summers carried her stake in her right hand. She was wearing one of her usual slaying outfits, a light blue top with her blue jeans over her legs and her black leather jacket over the shirt. Her golden crucifix hung around her neck as she moved. Beside her, Jacob walked with just as much calm and peaceful clarity.

He was wearing his usual. He had his black pants and his black short sleeved shirt on. He had his armored vest over his shirt and he had his carefully carved wooden stakes attached at different places on his vest and pants. He had his wooden bulleted gun in it's holster at his waist as he walked with the Slayer. Jacob hadn't originally planned to go out patrolling with Buffy, but he felt himself wanting to spend more and more time with her and by going out on patrols with her, it gave him the time to spend with her.

Without realizing it, Buffy was heading towards the sector of the cemetery that the vampire named William the Bloody usually hanged around, otherwise known as Spike. In fact, his crypt was just ahead and Buffy didn't want to be here. She so didn't.

"Something wrong Buffy?" Jacob asked.

She shook her head. "No, I'm okay. I'm just....I don't know."

He nodded, not wanting to push her. "Hey, does anybody live there?" he indicated the crypt, where there was a light shining from the inside.

Buffy nodded, hoping it was Clem and not Spike inside. "Yeah, there's a friendly demon named Clem that lives there right now."

They were now only a few feet from the entrance. They stayed silent as they gazed at the door. Jacob wasn't sure what to do and Buffy was just wishing to be anywhere but here. A moment later, the door to the crypt swung open and Clem was standing there, looking at them. "Oh! Buffy, how are you?" the demon asked.

"I'm good." Buffy replied.

Clem looked at Jacob, who was watching him with caution. "Oh hi. I'm Clem." he held out his hand.

Taking it with growing hesitation, Jacob squeezed it. "Jacob."

"What are you doing Clem?" Buffy asked.

"Oh! I was watching Passions on NBC. Or rather, a rerun. They're starting to show them at night now. It's pretty amazing." Clem said.

"Right." the Slayer replied.

"Do you guys wanna come in?" Clem asked, being friendly.

"No, I'm on patrol and Jacob here is helping me out." Buffy said, starting to walk away. Jacob began to follow her.

Clem just smiled as he watched them walk away. He turned back to the crypt and swung the door shut. He walked back over to where the chair was and moved passed it. He walked over to where the tomb was that led to the underground chamber. He banged on the wall a couple times. "They're gone!" he yelled downward.

As Clem turned back to the television to continue watching Passions, a figure in black clothing and blonde hair emerged. He walked to the window and gazed out, seeing Buffy and Jacob moving further and further away from the crypt. Clem noticed him watching. "That guy that's with her, his name's...."

"I know who he is." the figure said.

"You do?" Clem asked.

The vampire known as Spike turned around and looked at Clem. "Yeah. That's Jacob, the Daywalker. He's been searching for me his whole life. He just doesn't know it, yet."

Clem just nodded, slouching down in the chair as Passions came back on. Spike turned back and kept his eyes locked on the figure that he came back to Sunnydale for. "I'll have you soon, Buffy. Just you wait." Spike whispered.

I knew it!!!! I knew it!!!!! I knew Spike was the one who killed Jacob's mother. I hope Jacob gets his payback soon.

On to more pleasant things. I love how Willow breaks the news to Tara and their utter elation at having a family together.

I can't wait until they get home to celebrate. Hint. hint.

Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.

Tara: Willow, I got so lost.
Willow: I found you. I will always find you.

Willow: Hi, um Tara. I was wondering maybe you want to go out some time for coffee? food? Kisses and gay love?

Another Small Update

Postby WilTaraFan » Wed Jun 12, 2002 8:24 pm

Today's update is just like yesterday's. Just a few scenes to add, nothing big. But, I hope you enjoy what you're reading. Don't forget to check out my website, I've put a new page up. You can find it when you get there. deviousone.hypermart.net

Kudos!!!

DISCLAIMER

Enjoy.

START OF

:bounce :bounce : :bounce :hat :hat :hat :cool :cool :cool :love :love :love :miff :miff :miff

One day ended and another day began in Sunnydale. As usual, people went about their day, not knowing the dangers that may lay ahead, not knowing the dangers that Sunnydale's personal superhero, Buffy Summers, would soon face.

It was around ten o'clock in the morning and the entire Scooby Gang were gathered at the Summers House. Willow and Tara were seated at one end of the couch, cuddled together. Willow was leaning against the end of it with Tara pressed up against her. The others didn't seem to mind or pay much attention to the lovers affections since they'd gotten used to it. Xander and Anya sat next to the lovers and Dawn sat down in one of the chairs. Giles was seated at a table across the room and the only two standing were Buffy and Jacob.

They had gathered for one simple reason. Although they had dealt with Tara's stalker, Reese Maxwell, and made sure he would be in a psyche ward for a long time, they hadn't had a chance to even acknowledge the older man who had been assaulted. The man that had hurried to Xander's car and tried to warn the Slayer about someone who was coming. They still had no information on whoever or whatever it was that was coming.

"Giles, do we know anything about what this man might have been talking about?" Buffy asked.

Giles held his glasses between his teeth. He removed them. "No." he shook his head. "Whoever this man was......he could have been talking about a lot of things. There are a lot of powerful enemies that hasn't yet stepped foot in Sunnydale. I'm truly at a loss here."

"Is there any way we can research this?" Tara asked.

Giles shook his head again. "If we don't even know where to begin, there's really nothing we can do now."

Buffy huffed with frustration. "Giles, I'm not ready to constantly having to keep my guard up while some unknown menace takes it's freaking time to get here. I won't!"

"Buffy, you need to calm down." Jacob told her, noticing as she stopped looked at him as he said it. "First of all, what all did this man say to Xander. Just that he's coming. He needed to warn the Slayer. If this is guy...or thing really is coming, we don't need to overstress ourselves worrying about it. Whatever this thing is will show itself sooner or later."

Buffy slouched her shoulders as she plopped down between Xander and Tara on the couch. She crossed her arms over her chest, not liking the situation one bit. Jacob put his hands on his hips as he watched her, his face going wistful for a moment before he returned it to his normal expression. No one in the room seemed to notice it, but Giles did and seeing it concerned the Watcher greatly.

"Why don't we all just enjoy the day." Giles said. "Willow and Tara have school to get ready for, Anya, isn't it time to open the Magic Box?"

The demon nodded. "That's right. I should go ahead and head down there. Wanna join me, Xander?"

"Of course." Xander said, rising and following Anya out of the house. The others slowly rose.

Buffy headed upstairs, needing to make a few calls to some of her allies in the demon part of the city. All that was left was Willow, Tara, Dawn, Giles, and Jacob.

"We're going to head to the University." Willow said, taking her lover's hand and leading them away.

Dawn looked at the Daywalker and the Watcher and shrugged, heading up the stairs. With just Giles and Jacob remaining, it was an awkward silence. Jacob started to open his mouth to say something, but Giles beat him to it.

"What are you thinking?" Giles whispered in an angry tone.

Jacob looked surprised. "What?"

"You know what I'm talking about, damn it!" Giles said. "How can you just mess around with Buffy's emotions like this?"

"Rupert, I'm not playing with her emotions. I've been very straightforward with her." Jacob told him.

"Have you?" Giles stated.

Jacob nodded. "Yes, she knows and understands about my personal quest. She knows I can't settle down with anyone until I find my mother's attacker."

Giles sat down on the chair. "Jacob, the past year has been very devastating for Buffy. You know that already. She has strong feelings for you. Stronger than I've ever seen her have before. Angel, Riley, the feelings she had for them are nothing compared to what she's finding for you. I believe she's falling for you."

Jacob closed his eyes, already acknowledging that truth to himself. He'd felt her feelings when he first saw her. At first, it was just the thought of thinking he was handsome, or cute, but the longer he stayed in Sunnydale, the more she was wanting to be near him and the more he found himself wanting to be near her. "Well, then this isn't going to please you much either," Jacob said, "I think I'm falling in love with her."

Giles rose and walked closer to the Daywalker. "Let me ask you this, if you believe you will love her soon, are you prepared to drop your search and remain here to have a future with her?"

Neither Jacob nor Giles knew it, but Buffy was listening to their conversation from the top of the stairs, hidden in the shadows. She'd just finished her last call and was heading downstairs. When she heard them talking, she just let herself listen.

"I don't know." Jacob said honestly. "When I came here to help you out with Deacon, I wasn't expecting to......I wasn't expecting to find myself drawn to her. My mission to find the vampire that made me what I am has been the most important thing to me for so long. I'm very confused right now Rupert. I don't know what to do."

Giles put a hand on Jacob's shoulder. "Jacob, you have to find out what you want before you even think about indulging in your feelings for Buffy. She's very fragile right now, and I know you are just as fragile. I don't want to see either of you hurt here. Search your heart Jacob. If you really still want to find the vampire, then you must leave Sunnydale at once. But, if you think you can move forward with Buffy and put your quest aside, then tell her."

Jacob swallowed, too choked up to say anything. Nodding, he turned and headed out of the Summers House. He had a lot of thinking to do.

Giles waited a few moments, then he headed out, going out the entrance at the kitchen. Buffy slowly began walking down the steps, her emotions swirling within her. She was hoping against hope that Jacob would stay and give their potential relationship a fair chance. But at the same time, she did want him to find his mother's attacker and she would support his decision. Shaking her head, she headed out of the house as well.

---**---

The being known as the Dark Son stood in the center of what was once a construction site. It had been abandoned when those funding it couldn't continue paying for it. The construction company abandoned the site and the site itself had become the haunts for vampires and stray demons. Now, it was the headquarters for the Dark Son and his Knights of Dekhleti. The Dark Son was now fully covered with a nice suit he'd picked out himself.

He wore a dark violet colored dress shirt with a tie of the same color. Over his shoulders and down side was a solid black dress blazer. A pair of black dress pants completed his outfit and he ran his human fingers over the texture of his clothing, liking the style very much. Behind him, his four Knights stood, anxiously awaiting his first commands to them. The four Knights had been waiting for this moment, the rise of the Dark Son, for eons of years.

They were Immortal, they couldn't be killed save for chopping off their heads. They had been on Earth when the Dark Son had tried to rise to Earth the last time. That had been over two thousand years ago. The Vampire Slayer of that time had stopped them. And now that he was here, the Dark Son wanted to destroy the Slayer and any who would dare oppose the End of Dayz.

He turned around and looked at his Knights. First, his eyes fell on the man with bleached white hair. The man wore an awfully lot of jewelry around his neck and many rings on his fingers. His clothing was fluffy and very strange to the Dark Son. Including the dark red top hat he wore. His name was Zeke and although his appearance was a bit freaky at times, Zeke was one of the toughest fighters, mortal or not, in the entire world. That was the reason the Dark Son tolerated his presence.

The Dark Son's eyes roamed to the next member of the Knights. This man was the huge black man with the mostly bald head. His name was Rayzor and the Dark Son smiled, remembering what first drew him to the large black man. Before he had become an Immortal, Rayzor had been a vicious animal of a man, slaughtering hundreds of people with his blades and feeling absolutely no guilt or remorse for it. His capacity for darkness and evil excited the Dark Son. And Rayzor had fully accepted his role in the Knights.

Next, the Dark Son's eyes roamed over the Oriental Immortal named Jin Kane. Jin Kane was probably the best warrior alive on Earth. He had served under Emperor Chin and many other rulers. He had, at one time, served for Ghangus Khan. Jin was an honorable man and he believed in many things that normally, the Dark Son would frown upon but he respected Jin's abilities a great deal and thus, he welcomed Jin Kane into the Knights.

And finally, the Dark Son met the eyes of the woman named Faithlyn. He liked her most of all because she was a temptress. She was a seductress and she loved to make her victims beg for sexual release before she ended their existence. That's what the Dark Son liked about her, her ability and method of torture. She didn't use pain and agony to torture her victims, instead, she would use her body as an instrument. She would tease and seduce her victim until they were ready to beg for her mercy, then she would take them out.

There was just one thing that the Dark Son didn't like about her. Early on, before she became Immortal, the Dark Son watched her as Faithlyn's desires for women took over and she would claim woman after woman after woman. She would fuck a woman senseless, then move onto another. She took so much pleasure from so many women, but she never seemed satisfied. And she wouldn't touch a man, even after she became an Immortal. The Dark Son just couldn't understand the attraction she felt for women. He didn't really care either, how she tortured her victims, which were mostly women, was of no concern of his.

He walked towards them, slowly. Stopping only a few feet away, he looked at each of them in their eyes before he spoke. "My friends." he enunciated the words. "This is a glorious occasion. Finally, after so many years, the world will finally see the End of Dayz."

"It's been so long." Rayzor said, his dark voice intoning.

"Yes it has." the Dark Son said, moving around the area. They watched him. "We have so much to do in such little time. The Slayer, where is she?"

"The Vampire Slayer is in a town called Sunnydale." Faithlyn answered.

He turned to face them. "Well, the Slayer's on the Hellmouth. How interesting." he said. "How far is this Sunnydale from here?"

"Just about an hour's drive." Zeke said.

The Dark Son looked at them. "Then, we must head out. Tonight, we confront the Slayer and find out if she's going to be a threat."

They nodded. The Dark Son motioned for them to get ready. As Faithlyn passed, he motioned for her to stop. He gazed at her. "Faithlyn, a moment please?"

"Yes, Dark Son." she said.

He stared at her. "How many followers do we have?"

"Every vampire that can sense your existence has pledged their devotion to your order." Faithlyn told him.

"Good. Good. And what about human?"

"There is a strong base of support throughout the world who are devoted to your rise. When the time comes, they will come together to let themselves known."

The Dark Son stopped. "I want you to send the word out to whatever vampires in Sunnydale are on my side. I want the Slayer to be dead after tonight."

"As you decree, Dark Son." Faithlyn replied, going to ensure his order.

Willow sighed, her fingers moving with a knowledgable speed as she typed on the keyboard in front of the computer monitor. She was typing both her and Tara's resumes since both witches were going to start looking for jobs in their respective fields of study. This year of college would officially be their last as they were now seniors. They were anxiously awaiting the moment when they graduated and began their life together, their future past college.

She missed her lover already. Tara had gone to the fourth floor of the Computer Center they were in to speak with her advisor. Oddly enough, her advisor was a Professor in English, but his office was in the Computer building. She was just getting her schedule of classes finalized and then she'd rejoin her lover. They weren't going to stay long, just until Willow finished the resumes and Tara finished speaking with her advisor.

A sound to her right interrupted her train of thought. She stopped typing and looked up. A woman stood there, looking at her with an expression of uncontrolled lust in her eyes. She had dark hair and blue eyes and she had a striking figure that even Willow could notice. She smiled her full red lips at Willow as she leaned against the semi-wall that separated Willow's computer to another computer. "Hello." she said with a smile.

Feeling flattered by the interest, Willow smiled back. "Hi."

The woman extended her hand. "My name's Angie, what's yours."

Willow leaned back in her chair. "Willow."

"That's a pretty name. It suits you. And I must say, a pretty name for a pretty woman."

Willow looked down. She liked being complimented and it was very flattering, but she liked it better when it was coming from Tara and not some stranger.

"My, you're a bit shy, aren't you?" Angie asked.

"With people I don't know, you betcha." Willow replied.

"Well, maybe we should hang out sometime and that way, you'll know me."

Willow bit her lip, wishing her lover was there. "Afraid I can't do that, Angie."

A look of disappointment came over Angie's face. She'd really been looking forward to having a night of passion with the redhead. After all, she'd been watching her for a few days now. "Why not?" she asked.

Willow held up her left hand, displaying her engagement ring. "I'm engaged to a woman I love very much."

Angie frowned. "Well, I just thought I'd say hi to you. Because I do find you very attractive."

"As you should." came a voice behind Angie as the woman turned around.

Tara stood there for a moment, just watching Angie before she moved passed her to where Willow stood. "Hey baby." Tara said, giving her lover a kiss.

Willow, never one to shy away from her lover's kisses, returned the kiss with a little passion and quite a bit love. As their kiss ended, they both glanced to Angie, but the woman was gone. They saw her leaving the first floor in a huff. "Thanks."

"For what?" Tara asked.

"Well, for starters, for kissing me. But mostly for getting rid of that woman." Willow said.

"What, don't you enjoy having a woman flattering you." Tara teased.

"Only if it's you Tara. Only if it's you." Willow replied as she finished the resumes.

A few moments later, they had the resumes printed and headed out of the Computer building. As they exited, Tara felt her hand gently grabbed and held by Willow's. The blonde's lips curved upwards in a smile as she squeezed the hand that held hers.

Special Note

Postby WilTaraFan » Wed Jun 12, 2002 9:21 pm

I believe I owe an apology to not only the Moderators of this Board, but also to all Kittens who have come across my fanfiction. It's recently been brought to my attention that my story Braving the Storm was viciously unliked by many.

These many have complained about it to Xita and that's where I think they're wrong. No offense intended, but since it was my fic and since I am constantly looking for opinions of the fans, I would have appreciated it if they would have emailed me about their displeasure of the fic. I am always looking at ways to improve my stories and if I thought Braving the Storm would be this disliked, I would have changed the story early on.

So, to all those who complained to Xita about Braving the Storm, I am very sorry for how it turned out. I am sorry that it so much unliked.

Let me be honest here: What I originally wanted to do with Braving the Storm is just have one story in my Soulmate Series that had a darker undertone like Season 6 did. I even asked in a post about how it should go. I asked for the Kittens thoughts. The question I posted was should the stalker rape either Willow or Tara. Every response I got told me maybe an assault or an attempted rape. I went with the attempted rape, following what the Kittens told me.

That may have been my mistake from the get go. So, again, I'm sorry for how it turned out. But, if there is a story in the future that ANY, and I do mean ANY Kittens don't like or think is not suitable, email me, post on the thread of ths story, whatever, but let me know about your displeasure so I can make the necessary changes to it. Because it's you that I write the stories for. I don't do it for me, I do it to bring smiles and laughs and tears to your faces.

Once again, I am sorry for Braving the Storm.

Sincerely,

WilTaraFan aka The Devious One

I loved Braving the Storm also. As I recall, you did ask what the readers wanted, and only a few people responded. You did an excellent job with it. Yes, the girls were attacked, but the girls are attacked in a lot of stories on this board. Atleast none of the girls were raped. I don't understand why people like a story where Tara is involved with Vampwillow which has SM undertones but not this. People do not have to read if they do not want to. I really hope you keep writing.

Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.

Tara: Willow, I got so lost.
Willow: I found you. I will always find you.

Willow: Hi, um Tara. I was wondering maybe you want to go out some time for coffee? food? Kisses and gay love?

Because rape is non consensual, where as BDSM is consensual and requires a great amount of trust.

Officially, of course, I have to say that I have no idea what you're talking about.

NO I am sorry The Rose, there is a difference between SM, which is consentual, and rape.

You may enjoy reading Tara getting raped , having her pants pulled down by a man, and reading details of his forced kiss upon her. None of these things are enjoyable to me and they do not belong on the board, maybe on BtVS, as Joss perceives it, where violence against women is a must, but not on pens. So yeah anyone can write what they want, but that kind of descriptive violence cannot be posted on pens. I do not guide fic, I think writers should write their visions, however, there are forums for certain things.

Braving the Storm was pulled by ME because it was never my vision to have that kind of material on Pens.

If anyone has a problem with the moderation of this board they can email me, xita@xita.org.

I was one of the people who said I did NOT want to see Tara getting raped. I made it very clear in my response to the writer's questions. I said I didn't mind the obesession story line, BUT I did NOT want any of the girls raped.

Sorry if you misunderstood me.

Update & More on the Braving the Storm situation

Postby WilTaraFan » Thu Jun 13, 2002 8:11 pm

Before I get started with notes concerning today's update, I feel I should say a few more things about the recent situation with my story Braving the Storm. As I said yesterday, I am sorry about how things turned out with it. And I read Xita's post about it and I understand where she's coming from and to be honest, when I was writing the story, I never looked at it that way. I saw the general story with the obsession leading to the very romantic proposal towards the end. That was my goal and that's what happened.

And I have to say this to EVERYONE who didn't like BtS because of the issue that started this. Before I even started writing it, I constantly posted comments asking for the Kittens thoughts about it. I told them what my plotline for Braving the Storm was and I encouraged feedback before I even began. If I had even a hint of this much heat from it, I wouldn't have gone the stalker route at all.

I skimmed through the said story on my laptop last night and I understand something else that I didn't really see before. Braving the Storm is a lot more violent than any of my other stories. I hadn't noticed how bloody it was until I re-read parts of it. So, I am very sorry that there was that much violence in it, I hadn't really planned on that much and if it grossed some people out, I am truly sorry.

As for the removing of Braving the Storm, like I said, Xita's a moderator and she can run this board as she likes, but whether those that hated BtS likes it or not, Braving the Storm is included as an installment of the Soulmate Series. And if there is anyone who would like to re-read it, violence and all, you can find the story at my website. Find a post somewhere that has my website listed.

One thing I have to admit that I am having trouble with is the fact that when I put my post asking for the Kittens comments regarding BtS, no one and I do mean no one came forward and said I shouldn't do a attempted rape scene or a assault or an obsession angle at all. And those that did come forward, like The Rose, told me to not do a rape and I went with what the Kittens told me. Those of you who went to Xita directly without even emailing me your displeasure, I really wish you would have spoken with me, given me the chance to respond to your critiicsm and I would have changed the story or at least re-written it.

So, in conclusion, I'm very sorry that I neglected to see the amount of violence I had written, I'm very sorry that it was so disliked by many many people, and I am very and truly sorry that the story turned out like it did. It was never my intention to offend anybody by it. I merely wanted to do a darker story, the only one in the Soulmate Series, and to deal with a very realistic event in everyday life because rape does happen and even celebrities get stalkers. So, once again, I am sorry for everything and I would appreciate it if this situation could be forgotten. The End of Dayz won't be nearly as violent as Braving the Storm was. Just look at End of Days, the film, it's about that much violence, not a lot. So, sorry again and I hope this matter can be dropped and forgotten. And I do realize it may be hard for some people to forget it, but I hope you can try. Because I've said what I needed to say and I apologized as best I can.

Sincerely,

WilTaraFan aka The Devious One.

Now, with all that said, let's get to the update. Today's update is slightly larger than the previous two, with a couple scenes and one of them's a Willow Tara goodness scene, you'll get the idea. Just be warned, there are a couple scenes with a fight involved. So, if you don't want to read violence in this story, turn around now and leave and if you feel the need to complain, email me your complaints at letsrocket_1998@Yahoo.com my ear's are always ready to listen to criticism and comments. Now, on with the story.

Also, I feel that I should say this. There is a couple references to the Catholic Church and heaven and hell. If there are any Christians reading this, please don't take offense, it's just a story. And, I need to let it known that when I first started the Soulmate Series, Returning, it was originally intended to be a just one story deal with Returning. But as the days wore on, I decided to turn it into a series. And because I did, the overall plot of the Series has shifted. While it's still going to be about Willow and Tara, the series is also going to be about Xander and Anya reuniting and Jacob and Buffy getting together. Just thought I'd pass that along.

Enjoy.

START

That night, Buffy and Jacob moved through the cemeteries, out on patrol. The recent time since Jacob's return had created a routine that both chosen warriors had pretty much kept to. Jacob would accompany her on patrol, staking whatever nasties came out and attacked them. All the while, they would chat about many different things while doing so. The night was slow and there weren't very many vamps out and demons seemed to be nowhere as well. So the two were pretty bored as they slowly moved through the holy ground.

"So, you do this every night?" Jacob asked.

Buffy glanced at him. "Most of the time yeah. I do take some nights off every once in a while."

Jacob nodded as his gloved fingers moved over the wooden stake he held. "Well, it's good that you don't let being the Slayer run your life."

"And what about you? You don't seem to take too much time for yourself." Buffy pointed out.

Jacob was silent for a few moments. "I've always had one thing on my mind. Find that vampire responsible for what I am. Every time I've taken one of them out, I get a little piece of the life I could have had back. Up until I came here, my whole life's been about finding that vampire. Now....now there's a lot of other things I find myself considering. Things I would never have thought of before."

"Good things?"

"Definitely good things." Jacob told her, glancing her way.

Both stayed silent as they continued to move through the cemetery. After a few more minutes of moving, Jacob suddenly stilled, his head tilting as he used his advanced senses. He could hear and feel a faint rumbling coming closer. It was too faint for Buffy to notice, though.

"What is it?" Buffy asked.

"SSShh." he motioned.

He continued to listen to the sound, feeling the rumbling getting closer and closer until they both could see where the rumbling was coming from. Ahead of them, there were two motorcycles roaring their way, carelessly moving through the cemetery. Jacob and Buffy recognized that they weren't going to be allies and they readied themselves for the confrontation that was sure to follow.

The two motorcycles stopped about twenty feet from them. The roaring of the motorcycles continued for a few more moments before the engines were shut off and the two individuals driving the cycles moved off of them and slowly began to approach the Slayer and the Daywalker.

They still had their helmets over their faces, so neither Buffy nor Jacob could see who was underneath. Stopping just ten feet from them, the two figures removed their helmets. One of them was a large black man and the other was a white man with dyed white hair. Both looked supremely confident as they glanced at the two chosen ones.

"And who might you two be?" Buffy asked.

Instead of answering, the large black man removed his leather jacket. He had two triangular shaped blades that he grabbed from his waist and kept them in his hands as his partner pulled out a wooden bat with steel nails protruding at the top of it. Both of them began to close in near Buffy and Jacob.

Jacob reached behind him and unsheathed his sword, twirling it in his hands as he anticipated the battle. Buffy grabbed her stake and prepared for the battle.

Pa
[/b]

Rayzor and Zeke began to move forward as they engaged Jacob and Buffy in combat. This was exactly the way the Dark Son had ordered them. First, Rayzor and Zeke would battle them, see how strong and tough the two really were before their next test came. And Rayzor already knew who he wanted. He advanced on Jacob while Zeke approached Buffy with nothing short of glee in his eyes.

"Daywalker," Rayzor said, aiming one of his blades at the blonde man, "I've been looking forward to fighting you for a long time."

"Let your wait be over then." Jacob said as he raised his sword in anticipation of the battle.

Zeke stopped his advance for the moment as he watched his buddy attack Jacob. Buffy waited also, content to let Jacob handle this unless it looked like he was going to be beaten, only then would she get involved to help him.

With a roar, Rayzor moved, striking multiple attempts with his blades against Jacob's face and chest. The Daywalker was a master at the sword though. Not as good as Buffy, but he knew how to handle himself and he met each of Rayzor's strikes head on, blocking each one and moving forward to deliver some of his own. The beefy black man ducked under a sword overstrike and brought his right hand up and under Jacob's defenses, cutting through his shirt and making a clean cut across his skin.

Hissing from the sudden shock, Jacob stepped back as he looked down. He'd chosen not to wear the vest tonight, and now he was paying the price. There was a diagonal tear in his shirt and a cut was made across his chest, just a little blood dripping downward. He looked down at the cut before he readied himself as Rayzor moved forward again.

This time it was Jacob who had control of the fight. He met each and every strike that Rayzor attempted and countered with his own strikes. He waited until he saw an opening and he went right for it. With Rayzor's chest exposed for a fraction of a second, Jacob lifted his leg and kicked at Rayzor's chest as hard as he could, sending the man back several feet. Following his attack, Jacob ran up and dove into the air, delivering a kick to the chest again that had enough force in it to knock Rayzor to the ground.

Back over to where Buffy was watching, she noticed Zeke now coming towards her. She looked at him, noticed the bat in her hand, and decided that she could handle him on her own. She put her stake away as Zeke tried several strikes with his bat. Buffy dodged each and every one of them as she moved with lightning quickness. As both Zeke's hands were wrapped around the bat, she waited until he swung at her again before she kicked him behind his head, sending the man down to the ground. Recovering, Zeke got back to his feet and tried another series of swings at the Slayer. Buffy sidestepped him and kicked him in the back of the head again, sending him sprawling to the ground.

Frustrated at being put on the ground, Zeke got to his feet and charged at her, his rage taking control of his body as he moved towards the Slayer. This time, however, Buffy didn't try to dodge his attempt or even sidestep him. She waited until he was close enough, then she merely reared back and hit him in the face as hard as she could with her fist. The blow with her superhuman strength sent him flying into the air, crashing through a tombstone.

Seeing his buddy down, Rayzor walked over to where Zeke was trying to scurry to his feet. Looking back at them, Rayzor smiled, spotting a figure as silent as the wind move up behind them, but enough feet back. It was the Oriental man. He held a long silver staff with an hook on one end and the other end being sharp and pointy. As the man stuck the staff into the ground, Rayzor spoke. "Don't worry Zeke, let my by Jin Kane take care of them."

Buffy and Jacob whirled, seeing Jin Kane standing there in the appearance of calmness. He had his left arm crossed over his chest and his right arm curled over his left with his right hand touching his chin. He merely stood there, watching them.

"Jin Kane?" Jacob spoke up, recognizing the name. "The Jin Kane that served under Emperor Chin?"

The man's head moved only a fraction, but it was enough to signal a nod. "The same man." he said in a clear and crisp voice.

Jacob stepped forward, conscious of where Buffy and the other two attackers were. "I have heard many say that you are a man of honor and integrity."

Jin Kane let his arms fall to his sides. "What do you know about honor, you're a half breed."

Without waiting for further comment, Jin Kane pulled his staff from the ground and began moving forward, moving his staff expertly in different angles and directions. Jacob sighed, knowing what he was about to go against. Twirling his sword in a circle, Jacob advanced forward, engaging Jin Kane's staff with his sword. The two men clashed their weapons together with a blinding speed and technique that was truly mindblowing. Buffy watched with rising respect for both of them as they moved forward and backward.

One of them would have the momentary advantage, then the other would take it right back. It continued that way for several minutes, the other Knights and Buffy watching with barely disguised interest. Their clash of weapons ended when Jin Kane used the hooked end of his staff to catch Jacob's sword and he forced it down to the ground, embedding both the sword and the staff into the ground. Jacob used his strength in his upper arms and he thrust his sword out, braking the staff and forcing Jin Kane to leap into the air, diving backwards to avoid having his feet cut. Jin Kane landed softly on his feet, his arms outstretched as he landed.

As Jacob held his sword, ready to continue the fight, Jin Kane stood calmly. "Honor is not in the weapon." he said with conviction, looking intently at Jacob, then at Buffy. "It's in the individual."

Nodding once, Jacob stuck his sword into the ground. Moving forward, he was about to engage Jin Kane in battle, when the Oriental man held a hand up. He pointed first at Jacob, then at Buffy. "Both." he said.

Jacob looked at Buffy, who nodded, and they both advanced on Jin Kane. Jin used a very old type of martial art with Jacob, his hands and arms moving with thunderous quickness that was surprising to the Daywalker. He managed to block each and every shot that Jin tried and even began to try to hit his own. Jin blocked every shot that Jacob tried, however. Blocking a shot, Jin suddenly twisted his body around and delivered a thunderous back kick to Jacob's chest, knocking the man back. Turning his attention to Buffy, Jin motioned to her to advance at him.

She was a good fighter, but Jin was a lot quicker than she was and he repeatedly kept getting shots at her shoulder and neck, knocking her further back until he dipped down low and took her legs out from under her with a leg sweep. Stomping his foot down towards her head, Buffy quickly moved out of the way and nipped up to her feet. He was off balance when she was on her feet and Buffy took advantage of it. She used just a regular fighting move. With her left arm, she back handed him across the face, sending him down to the ground many feet back. He somersaulted his body and landed on his feet as he quickly charged at Jacob. This time, Jacob was more prepared for Jin and he kept blocking the attempted shots.

When Jin Kane tried an overhead strike, Jacob ducked under and retaliated by curling both hands into a fist and tilting his upper body, striking Jin with both fists. His right fist hit Jin's chest while his left hit just above his abdomen. Jin's body moved back as Jacob stepped back where Buffy was. All three fighters were breathing hard. Jin curled his hands together and began to move forward for another round of the fight.

"Enough!" came the voice from several feet back.

All three froze for a long intense moment. Slowly, tentatively, Jin nodded his head at them, a silent show of respect to them. They nodded back at him, showing their respect for his fighting abilities. Buffy and Jacob turned to where the voice had spoken and they saw two figures walking towards them, just in front of a large crypt.

The figure ahead of them was the man in the dark suit. He had a dark little smile on his lips as he slowly walked towards them. A woman walked just behind him, her movements graceful, yet with a powerful walk that could be deadly as well. The two slowed as they neared the two.

"Well..." the man in the dark suit said, "isn't this a glorious sight!"

Buffy looked at him with caution while Jacob just watched him, no reaction at all.

"The Slayer and the Daywalker, together again!" the man continued. "My have I wondered if the two chosen fighters would ever cross paths. And not only have they done so, but they find themselves liking each other, very much."

The Dark Son watched as they failed to react to his voice. "You," he said, "have already met my Knights. That's Rayzor and Zeke." he motioned to the black man and the white haired white man. He raised his right hand to where the woman was. "This is Faithlyn."

"Greetings." Faithlyn quipped.

"And who are you?" Buffy asked.

The Dark Son chuckled, a sound neither the Daywalker nor the Slayer liked very much. "Me, I have many names. I am known to many as the Dark Son. But you can call me Kell."

"What do you want Kell?" Jacob spoke up.

Kell approached Jacob, standing in front of him and gazing into the man's eyes. "You, Daywalker, already have an idea what I want."

Buffy watched as Kell stepped away from Jacob and approached her. "And that is?" she asked, letting anger fill her tone.

Approaching her, Kell looked into her eyes, seeing all the pain and horrors she had faced in her life and also seeing the truth she's hidden deep in her soul. A truth she's gone to great lengths to keep hidden from all of her friends. Kell now had an advantage over her and when the time was right, he'd expose that truth to all. "I want the world to feel it's last drop."

Jacob's brow furrowed, not expecting that remark. "What?"

Kell stepped away from them. "Knights." he said. The four of them immediately fell into step behind him. "I came here tonight to bring forth your deaths, but now that I've looked at you and seen you face to face, I believe something else would be better suited for you. Just a simple death would be too easy for you. But die you will, I promise you. Because, when the time comes, and you breath your last breathe, the both of you will bear witness to the End of Dayz."

With that said, Kell turned and began walking away, Faithlyn, Zeke, Rayzor, and Jin Kane silently following behind. Moments later, Buffy and Jacob were silent. Jacob more so because of what Kell had said. The last words he'd spoken drew Jacob to something else he'd come across before coming to Sunnydale and he wasn't liking it very much.

"Jacob?" Buffy asked, lightly touching his arm.

He glanced down at her, shaking his head. "I'm alright. We should get back to your house and gather everyone. There's something I need to tell you."

Buffy nodded, not saying anything else as the two slowly began heading out of the cemetery, each lost in their own thoughts.

---**---

Willow and Tara were in their bedroom at the Summers House. Tara was laying on the center of the bed, her body slick with sweat and she was breathing hard. She had her legs spread and she had her knees bent as her lover/fiancée moved above her. Willow was in between her lover's spread legs, moving her body rhythmically against Tara's. She had her exposed center rubbing against Tara's and Willow's mouth was covered over Tara's, both witches' tongues dueling for control.

The redhead had her fingers intertwined with Tara's and the women's hands were squeezing each other as they continued to move against each other. Both women were desperately seeking each other's bodies out. Suddenly, Tara's legs came up and wrapped around Willow's waist as she tore her mouth away from Willow's. She screamed as her entire body shuddered in climaxed ecstasy.

Less than a moment later, Willow's body shuddered as she came, laying her body full over her lover's. They stayed there, resting against each other for several long minutes before they found the ability to speak again. "Um..." Willow said, at a loss.

"That was intense." Tara mumbled, nuzzling her face against Willow's red hair.

"Tare bear, intense is an understatement to what that was." Willow replied, resting her cheek against Tara's shoulder as she wrapped her arms around her. She hummed as she closed her eyes, enjoying the contact of their closeness. She'd missed this more than she cared to admit when they had broken up.

Tara smoothed her hands over Willow's back, feeling the sweat glisten on her fingertips. "I do believe we may need a shower before we sleep."

Willow smiled dreamily. "Shower can wait, this is cuddle time." she purred.

Tara smiled at her, letting the foot on her left leg smooth over Willow's lower calf. She continued to rub her lover's back. "Willow?"

"Hm?"

"How would you feel about us going away?" Tara asked, her eyes closed.

"What do you mean?" Willow asked, looking up.

Tara smoothed the hair from her lover's forehead. "I mean, say in a couple weeks, we go somewhere private and spend the weekend together, just us."

"Just us," Willow's eyes lit up at the idea, "no Buffy, no Giles, no nobody. Just us!"

"That's right. How would you feel about that?" Tara asked again, her fingers rubbing Willow's cheeks.

Willow leaned forward and gave Tara a deep kiss. "I think that's a wonderful idea honey. Just you and me, together. No interruptions."

"No interruptions." Tara said, smiling, "You can even update your diary."

Willow nodded. "Yes, update my diary. And we can do so much together. Where would we go?"

Tara thought for a moment. "Well, we could always rent a cabin in the mountains. I could finally get the chance to show you how to ride a horse."

Willow put her head back down. "The more I think about it, the more I like it. Just you and me together."

"Mm hm." Tara murmured, rubbing Willow's back again.

Willow stayed silent for a little while, just basking in the happiness that was radiating through her body at the moment. Then, she looked up as something occurred. "What about the wedding? I mean, shouldn't we prepare for it."

Tara moved her head in a nod. "Relax Will. The little get away will only be for just a weekend because we do have school to go to. But," Tara sighed, her emotions shifting, "I'm more worried about something else."

"What's that?" Willow asked.

Tara's fingers moved down towards Willow's stomach. "The baby. A lot's happened to both of us during the past year. The breakup, the magic addiction..."

"Your death." Willow whispered, hating the extreme sadness she still got when she thought about it.

"Plus other things that are just too painful for us to think about." Tara reminded her. "I'm just a little worried that something might happen to you or the baby." Tara said.

"I know." Willow said, resting her chin on Tara's chestbone and gazing into her lover's eyes. "But, Tara....I'm not going to let anything happen to me, you, or the child we created together. I am going to have this baby and we are going to build our future together."

"Good." Tara whispered. "You know, it's not gonna be too long from now till we get to go shopping for maternity wear."

Willow's eyes lit up, wanting to do just that with her fiancée. "Ooh! I can't wait for that."

"Yeah, me either." Tara replied, her hands running up and down Willow's sides.

Willow's breathing began to pick up. "If you keep that up, we're going to be busy for a while."

Tara smiled seductively. "Is that a promise, Miss Rosenberg?"

"No," Willow replied, leaning up on her elbows above Tara's face, "that's a guarantee."

Surprising her lover, Tara flipped Willow over and made good on the guarantee.

---**---

The next morning rolled around bright and early. As soon as Buffy and Jacob had returned to the Summers House, most everyone were asleep. Buffy was going to see if Willow or Tara was awake, but as soon as she looked inside their darkened room, she couldn't bring herself to disturb them. They were asleep, facing her. Willow was in front with Tara spooning her from behind. Both witches had appeared happy and totally at peace and Buffy didn't want to disturb them, so she told Jacob they'd wait until today to tell them of their encounter.

With classes beginning today, the two witches were dressed and ready to head to the University. Willow was dressed in her blue jean skirt that went down to her ankles and a dark navy blue sleeveless top. She wore a white shirt over her shoulders and bare arms that was made with see through material. She had her hair brushed all the way back. Tara had dressed in a pair of her black pants and had a deep purple long sleeved shirt on over her upper body. She had her hair arranged like the same way she had when she'd been at the University and had let a friend kiss her cheek. It was less than a day before she and Willow had come back together.

Both witches were sitting on the couch at the far wall. Dawn was sitting next to them. The younger teen was wearing of her blue jeans with a dark blue button up shirt tucked into them. Sitting across from the three of them was Giles. The Watcher had dressed in one of his dark dress slacks and a business button up shirt. Xander and Anya had just arrived. Anya wore her dark pants with her pilgrim like shirt she'd wore when Willow had attacked them at the Magic Box. Xander merely wore a dark red button up shirt with a pair of black jeans.

Buffy and Jacob were the only ones standing. The Slayer was wearing one of her sleeveless white silk blouses with her black pants. She had her hair in it's new curled look. Beside her, Jacob looked the same as he always did. His black pants, black shirt, it was all the same. He didn't wear his vest, though. And Buffy had just finished telling everyone of their encounter with the man that called himself Kell.

"Just Kell, that's all he called himself?" Xander asked.

"That's it." Buffy replied.

Giles took his glasses off. "I don't know what to make of it. It's clear this Kell is going to be our next threat, but I don't understand what he's after."

"I do." Jacob said.

They looked at him.

"Have any of you ever heard of something called the Prophecy of The End of Dayz?" Jacob asked.

Most of them shook their heads, but Giles didn't. "I've heard of it, but I'm afraid I don't know much about it."

"I was in Rome a couple years ago and I came across the Order of Makhali." Jacob told them.

"The Order of Makhali. I haven't heard of them in a very long time." Giles said.

"Yes, the Order of Makhali aren't as strong as they used to be. Mainly because their prophecies came into conflict with the views of the Catholic Church. They were forced into seclusion many years ago. But when I came across them, I spent time in their library. Their library wasn't that large, but I got my hands on their most treasured beliefs. That's when I came across the Prophecy of the End of Dayz." Jacob said.

"What is this Prophecy?" Willow asked, finding herself interested.

"The Prophecy of the End of Dayz tells of a time when the Gates of Hell would open and a powerful demon of hell known as the Dark Son would rise to Earth from it. The Dark Son would remain on Earth for a period of ten days. At the end of the ten days, there would be a perfect alignment of certain stars in space. When that happens, the Dark Son would be able to forever open the Gates of Hell and release the Army of his father, Dekhleti, and bring forth the End of Dayz." Jacob explained.

"So basically," Buffy said, "this guy Kell is the Dark Son of a demonic being named Dekhleti and he wants to unleash an army to destroy the world."

"No, you misunderstand Buffy." Jacob said. "If Kell succeeds here, he'll open the Gates of Hell. And the Hell you all have heard, the hell that Satan resides in, that's not the only hell that the gates will open. Every single dimension of hell will be opened. And we're talking over a thousand of them. If that happens, not only will Earth be affected, but every heavenly dimension will cease to exist. Heaven, the one the Christians believe in, other heavenly dimensions, they all will be destroyed if the Gates of Hell are allowed to remain open."

"Wonderful," Buffy sighed, "another apocalypse."

"What does he need to do this?" Xander asked.

Jacob looked at the floor. "Well, first of all, he needs the stars to come into the alignment. But also, before that happens, Kell is going to need to absorb a certain amount of mystical power in order to use the alignment to open the gates. He'll have to be at a specific time and place for it to work."

"Okay, then how do we stop it?" Dawn asked.

"If the Prophecy is correct, then the only way to destroy Kell is to destroy his Knights." Jacob replied.

"His Knights?" Buffy asked.

"Yes, a very long time ago, when each of the four Knights pledged their loyalty to him, Kell gave them Immortal life. By doing so, he created a mystical link with them. If we can destroy them, then Kell will lose all of his powers. And when that happens, we can finish him off." Jacob told them.

There was some silence throughout the living room.

"Well, we need to find his hideout." Buffy said.

"Alright, let's reconvene at the Magic Box later today and we'll discuss this further." Giles said, rising to his feet.

As it was approaching midday, Willow and Tara headed off to the University, Dawn headed to the Bronze, Buffy stayed at the house, Xander went to work, Anya headed to the Magic Box, and Giles went to his new apartment. And Jacob walked to his black car, suddenly wishing he wasn't involved in this mess. Things were already complicated enough without having to add Kell to the mix. Now that Kell and his Knights were involved, Jacob was beginning to wonder if he'd ever be able to find his mother's attacker.

I am going to address this, because I am one of the people who "went to Xita". It is not a situation of me going behind your back to complain to Xita. It merely came up in conversation. I was asking had anyone else noticed the alarming trend of violence recently in stories. Not just your story, but many, many new stories on the Pens.

Normally I don't comment on stories or creative efforts on Pens. I respond very little. This is a trend I am starting to change, because it is finally becoming acceptable to criticize. For a long time it was not. If you don't have anything nice to say, you don't post. That situation has changed, creative threads are finally becoming open to equal measures of praise and and critisism. This is a good thing, in my opinion.

Speaking again, last night about the trend of violence, Xita had mentioned how she had posted in the Creative Questions thread and hoped that more folks would chime in on the violence. Which I did.

You have asked for input, now you have that as well.

Officially, of course, I have to say that I have no idea what you're talking about.

Thank you Rally for your comments. Like I've said, I take all comments and criticisms to heart and I appreciate it. And I didn't think you or anyone else was "going behind my back". That's how the post might have appeared, but that's not how I meant it at all. It's just that before I even began the story, I posted a few comments about how the story should go and I am upset about how much violence was in that story, I really didn't mean for that much to get in it, it just happened. So on that respect, I am to blame. But no one came to me through posts or through emails while I was writing it to say be less violent, so I didn't know how much or how less to go with.

I know one thing for sure, though, the future stories I'm doing aren't going to have half as much violence as BtS did. Thanks for the comments.

Kudos!!!

I just want to add a few more comments. I had read your story and your warnings as you posted them. Certainly I am no prude and not one of the younger perhaps more impressionable Kittens. Certainly I have dealt with many violent aspects of BtVS in my videos. So it is not a matter of me being personally offended by what you wrote.

You sound defensive, and certainly I understand that. It is hard not to be defensive when defending / explaining your creative works. I have agonized over decisions I have made creatively and worried about the maturity level of some of the audience.

I understand the need right now to perhaps, do horrible things to the characters and pull them through it. That is / was the core of BtVS, the very heart of the show until this season.

I think the point of bringing this to light is to say, stop and think, is there another way I can tell my story? Is this necessary to propel the story, am I crossing lines?

It's a tightrope, certainly. But we are here to celebrate Willow and Tara, and hopefully at least on this side of the board, put the end of Season Six out of our minds.

I agree with you on what you said Rally. All I really want to do now is put this entire mess behind me and get back to writing and reading good fics. I won't ever be doing another dark toned story like that one. Not only because I don't want heat on the story, but I was depressed when I was writing it. I don't like writing stories that cause them pain, and I think about every different way I can write a story to get across the point I want across and with BtS, I couldn't find any other way. So thanks for your comments and I hope this entire mess can be put to rest and we all can move forward and forget about Braving the Storm.

Kudos!!!

Before you move on I want to respond as well, heh. I was also one of the people who talked to Xita about this. Had I read your questions earlier I certainly would have responded, but the fact is I only read that part a few days ago. Unfortunately there are only 24 hours in a day, which prevents me from reading every post on the Pens. Commenting on that part of your fic then would have been too late.

Excellent update. The first fight sequence is very well organized, and it plays out really well in the story. I can't wait to see where you go with the rest of the story. I am so glad you are still writing, and I hope you keep up the good work.

Also, I am glad Buffy and Jacob are getting along so well, and I am anxious to see how you write W/T's weekend get-away. ;)

Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.

Tara: Willow, I got so lost.
Willow: I found you. I will always find you.

Willow: Hi, um Tara. I was wondering maybe you want to go out some time for coffee? food? Kisses and gay love?

Larger Update & Final Words on the BtS Situation

Postby WilTaraFan » Sat Jun 15, 2002 9:58 pm

As the title says, this is a larger update to The End of Dayz, which I hope everyone is reading and enjoying. I've tried my best to tone the violence down in it to just a few sword battles and regular uses of magic, so I hope I've done a good job.

It's been a couple days since I was last at the board and I'm glad that the whole mess with Braving the Storm is seeming to settle down. And I want to thank The Rose for your comments about my fics. I've always encouraged feedback from the readers and I love the positive feedback, but I also love the negative feedback. Because it lets me know if my stories are well liked or hated.

I've already said my apologies and made statements concerning Braving the Storm, so I'm not going to comment any more on it. All I'm going to say is that going the direction I did with the story was a mistake on my part. I should have taken a different route with it, and for that, I'm one hundred percent to blame. That said, on with the update.

I'm rounding the third base and heading home. What I mean is....I'm almost completely done with End of Dayz. After you read today's update, you'll see what I mean. There are some plot twists in today's update that I'm sure none of my readers would have expected. Anyway, I want to make this message to the mods. If this story does have too much violence for the board's taste, please make a post so I can learn from the mistake of writing violence. I really want to try my best to write fiction that's enjoyable to all.

One last thing to add before you read the update. When The End of Dayz is finished, I'm taking time away from writing on the Soulmate Series because I want to get started on my Virtual Season 7. I've already got the Big Bad decided on that I'm going with and I'll start the first episode after End of Dayz is finished. The episodes will be in story format, not script because I'm simply no good at writing script. Kind of like Hunter Ash because he's..or she's, I don't know if Hunter's a guy or a woman, but he's been doing a rewrite of Season 6 and posting it on his website as well as on a mailing list.

I just wanted to add this as well. Probably in a few weeks, or after I get the VS7 started, I'll probably start the 5th story of the Soulmate Series. So far, the running title is Spike's Revenge. And as the title indicates, it's going to bring the Jacob/Buffy/Spike situation to the forefront. That's including Spike's being the vamp Jacob's been searching for and the Spike Buffy scene from Seeing Red. Enjoy the update!

Kudos!!!

D ISCLAI[/u]

Enjoy.

START OF NEW UP

The remainder of the day passed much too quickly for the group as they all went about their daily business before they returned to the Magic Box around sundown to discuss Kell's plans and do research about the Prophecy of the End of Dayz. They were all at the Magic Box at the current time. Willow and Tara were seated one on side of the round table, going through some of the history books as Dawn, Xander, and Anya sat around the other side of the table, going through other books. Anya was behind the counter, also skimming through some of the older material that was still in the Magic Box.

Giles, Jacob, and Buffy were in the far back, where most of the Dark Magic books were held and they were looking through them to see if they could research anything called the Dark Son or Kell in particular. They were all busy and not having much luck at their researching.

They had been researching for about a half hour when the bell at the front door chimed as the door was opened and someone walked in. Anya approached the older man. Even though the Magic Box was closed, Anya would've tried to sell him something, but his appearance made her wonder if he had money to buy anything. He wore a pair of very faded jeans with a dirty brown shirt with a brown leather jacket. The jacket had tears and holes all over it. He had a face full of facial hair as he skimmed through the place, looking at face after face.

"I'm sorry, we're closed right now. Why don't you come back tomorrow and we can sell you something." Anya said brightly.

"I'm not here to buy anything....I'm..." the man's voice stopped as his eyes landed on Jacob at the far wall.

Jacob's eyes locked on the man's and his eyebrows widened at seeing who he was seeing. Buffy and Giles glanced at him in confusion. Without a thought, Jacob climbed down the steel ladder that led to the upper level where the darkest books were held and he approached the older man. "Thomas, it's been a long while." Jacob said as he walked up to the dark haired older man and embraced him.

The man returned the embrace for a few moments. "I had to come Jacob. He's risen to Earth, hasn't he."

It wasn't a question, but a statement and Jacob knew it. He nodded. "Yes, Buffy and I ran into him last night."

Buffy, who had climbed down the ladder, walked over as the others watched with skeptical eyes. She extended her hand. The man grasped it and shook her hand. "I'm Buffy." she said.

"The Vampire Slayer." the older man said quickly, recognizing her face.

Buffy's eyebrows hiked. "How did you..." she looked questionably at Jacob. The Daywalker shrugged.

"I've studied Sunnydale for many years, Miss Summers. And I have crossed paths with many Vampire Slayers. Allow me to introduce myself properly. I am Thomas O'Hara. About twenty three years ago, I was a monk with the Order of Makhali."

Hearing this, Giles rushed forward, eager to meet an actual monk of that Order. "My name is Rupert Giles, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"It is an honor to meet a Watcher, Mr. Giles. And I wish our meeting like this was under better circumstances." Thomas said with sincerity.

Giles nodded. He motioned to everyone. "Oh! Allow me to introduce you to everyone. This is Xander Harris, you met Anya, this is Buffy's younger sister Dawn, and those two are Willow and Tara."

The older man nodded to them all, his eyes flickering on Dawn's face a fraction longer. "You.....you were the Key, weren't you?"

Hearing that title made everyone tense up and Jacob picked up on it. "That business is in the past Thomas."

Thomas glanced at Jacob. "What? Oh yeah, I understand that. I meant no offense to anyone, it's just, I've done a lot of research on this city and on the Hellmouth in general. I had heard about a battle involving the Hellgod Glorificus and the Key. My informants told me the Key was in human form and that it was a little girl. I looked at her and somehow, I just knew." he said. "Anyways, I've come here to help you. I believe I have valuable information that you will need to fight the Dark Son and his disciples."

Reaching down, Thomas picked up his duffel bag he'd carried in with him as Giles led him over to the round table. Most of the table was covered in different books, but they cleared an area of it off as Thomas put his duffel on a chair and opened it up. Tara glanced at him. "What can you tell us?" she asked.

Thomas glanced at her, then at everyone else. "What exactly do you know about the Prophecy that predicts the End of Dayz?"

Jacob crossed his arms over his chest. "Just that Kell has a limited amount of time before the alignment of the stars to absorb a certain amount of mystical energy so that he can open the Gates of Hell."

Thomas nodded as he removed a notebook that had his writing all over the pages. "Well, that's only one part of the actual Prophecy. And if that's all you know about it, then you don't really know everything."

Similar looks of resignation passed over their faces as Thomas finished his statement.

---**---

At the hideout of the Dark Son, Kell stood on the third level of the construction platform, looking at the other Knights as they spoke with each other in low tones. His gaze locked on Jin's, just watching the Immortal man. For centuries, Kell had watched the activities that happened on Earth from the Hell dimension he resided in. He'd watched what his Knights had done while they waited for his rise and for the most part, he liked what he saw them doing. But there was something about Jin Kane that didn't set well with the Dark Son.

Jin Kane had honor and he had integrity. Those were two things that Kell knew would come into conflict between them one way or another. Kell had knew that when Jin first pledged loyalty and that was so many centuries ago. But still, even after all this time, he and Jin had never come to blows. Jin's sense of honor never crossed with Kell's motives for Earth. But, there was one thing that Kell knew. Jin's honor code would come into conflict here. That was something Kell knew coming in and he was prepared for the time when it happened.

He'd seen it as he'd watched Jin battle the Slayer and the Daywalker. He'd seen the looks of respect that passed between Jacob and Jin and Kell knew, deep down, that before it was all over, there would be something that Jin wouldn't do and it would conflict against Kell's plans. So Kell knew that when the time came and Jin refused to obey an order, he would take his head and absorb his mystical energy and be done with the fool once and for all.

Kell heard soft footsteps walk slowly to him and he turned, letting his human eyes glance at Faithlyn as she stopped next to him. "Faithlyn, my dear." Kell said slowly. "What brings you up here?"

Faithlyn's eyes flickered to the others down at the ground level before looking at him. "I've come to have an assurance." she said.

"An assurance?"

She nodded. "Yes. I want a promise from you that when the time comes, you won't betray us."

Kell laughed. "My dear! You should know by now that I don't make promises I can't keep. I can't tell you that I won't betray you when the chances are excellent I might do just that."

Faithlyn's face tensed. "So you are going to turn on us."

"Of course." he replied. "I'm evil Faithlyn, evil beings do evil things. You should know that. Look at everything you've done. You had a chance to put your association with me behind you along time ago. You chose to stay."

"I did it because I pledged loyalty to you. That's something I can't break, even if I wanted to." Faithlyn said honestly.

He walked away. "Loyalty is a virtue, Faithlyn, don't forget that. And don't forget that disloyalty is not tolerated."

Faithlyn's face grew pensive as she watched him walk away. She wanted to know what was brewing behind his eyes, but she knew there was no way for her to find out. She growled in frustration. She was beginning to wonder if bringing him to Earth was the best idea after all.

---**---

Thomas opened the notebook to a certain page that he was looking for. Finding the page, he skimmed through several lines of writing, aware of the others watching him. He began speaking of the information they needed to know. "Alright, as I said, absorbing the mystical power is something he needs by the time of the alignment. But, there is another element he needs to have before the alignment occurs."

"What?" Giles asked.

Thomas read from his book. "From the day he rises to the day of the alignment, the Dark Son of Dekhleti needs to fulfill two elements. The first is the absorption of a large amount of mystical energy. The second element he must fulfill is to find and sacrifice a woman who bares his mark on her skin. If the Dark Son fails in any of the two elements by the time of the alignment, the Gates of Hell will not open and the powers he carries from the Hell he comes from will be stripped away, leaving him mortal and vulnerable."

Buffy and Giles exchanged glances. "So, there's a woman somewhere in the world that bares his mark?" Buffy said, her voice shocked.

Thomas rose from his seat. "No, the woman is either in Sunnydale, or near Sunnydale."

"How do you know?" Jacob asked, not knowing this information.

"This woman bears his mark, that means he's in her blood. At this moment, she can feel his presence here. The closer he is to her, the more she will feel compelled to seek him out." Thomas said. After a moment, he reached into his duffel and pulled out a thick volumed text. Opening it up, he flipped to a page of markings that, at some time or another, were associated with the Dark Son. "Do any of you know anyone who has any of these markings on their skin?"

Giles looked over the page. He shook his head. The same reaction came from Dawn, Buffy, and Jacob. Thomas pushed the text towards the witches. He saw Tara shaking her head in the same negative fashion, then he looked at the redheaded witch. She had a look of dread on her face. The others looked at her.

When Tara looked at her lover, she saw the look and was going to gasp at the thought of Willow being the woman Kell needs, but then a thought hit her. "Willow, honey, you don't have any of these marks on you." she pointed out.

Willow swallowed. "No, I don't. But we all know someone who does."

Thomas steepled his fingers together. "Who?" he asked patiently.

Willow locked gazes with the Slayer. "Buffy, Amy has that symbol on her arm."

The redhead's finger was pointed to a symbol on the page. They looked at the symbol for a moment. It was of a triangle inside of a circle with an eye inside the triangle. As Thomas saw which symbol she was pointing at, he sighed. Any of the symbols except that one could mean just coincidence. But the fact that it was that one, the symbol that the Dark Son has always used, meant one thing. This girl, Amy, was chosen before her death to be sacrificed by Kell to open the Gates of Hell.

"Then, we need to find this girl, Amy, and keep her hidden until the alignment of the stars comes and goes." Thomas said.

Glances flicked from face to face, not anyone knowing what to say. Finally, though, Willow spoke up, looking at Thomas. "There are some things you need to know about Amy."

"I'm listening." Thomas said.

Willow explained, in rather vivid detail of everything Amy had done in her life. Starting with her use of dark magic that turned her into a rat to her involvement with the warlock named Rack to finally, the recent events that led to her being taken to a monastery outside Sunnydale.

Thomas listened with a growing sense of dread. He had hoped that this woman Amy might not have been the woman because according to the Prophecy, the woman with the mark would be someone who's life was tinged around darkness and anger. And as he listened to the redhead, he knew that Amy was indeed the woman that Kell needed to fulfill his elements before the alignment happens. After she finished, Thomas took a deep breath. "We need to get to that monastery and get her. Even though there is a magical barrier around it, Kell's powers are much too powerful now. If he gets there before we do and takes her, all our efforts will be for nothing."

"We can leave first thing in the morning." Buffy said, her voice solid and had the tone that spoke of no argument.

"How long will it take us to get there?" Giles asked. The only one of them who had been there was Jacob as he had taken Amy to the monastery.

"It will take us a few days to get there. The monastery itself is deep in the mountains. We can take vehicles only so far, but we'll have to hike much of the way there." Jacob answered.

"Alright, everyone, this is what we'll do." Buffy said, in leadership role, "everyone will go home and we'll all pack what we need to make this trip. We'll get to that monastery and we'll get Amy out and keep her safe somewhere."

They nodded.

"What about Anya?" Tara suddenly asked. "I mean, is she coming with us?"

"No," Buffy said, "Anya, you need to stay here and try to keep tabs on Kell's activities. You can transport yourself to us if he makes some sudden move, right?"

"Yes." Anya answered.

"Alright, then it's settled. We leave at first light for the monastery, Jacob will lead the way." Buffy told them.

As they all let the silence lengthen, one thing became clear to them. They had a big struggle ahead of them.

---**---

It was around eight o'clock when Kell called a meeting with his four Knights. He had arranged a long white dinner table with enough chairs for them to sit. All over the table were different vintages of wine and many selections of delicious food. Tonight would mark the beginning of Kell's quest to bring forth the End of Dayz. His four Knights were dressed in identical white and light gray suits. Faithlyn had on a glittering white dress. And Kell was wearing a white robe that had intricate designs all over the fabric.

As they ate, Faithlyn began to remember a conversation she had just had with Jin Kane. He had been leaning against a steel support beam at the time and he had looked troubled. She had walked up to him and spoke with him.

"Is something wrong, Jin?" Faithlyn had asked.

Jin had pursed his lips. "For the most part, men and women alike can only mend their ways only after they've made a mistake."

"Yes, that is true I suppose." Faithlyn had replied.

Jin had looked very pensive for several moments, his eyes looking over many things before looking at the night sky. "One day very soon," he had said, "we all will serve very little purpose to Kell except dead."

She had just stared at him a moment, knowing the truth of the matter. Then her eyes had gone upward and glanced at the third level. Kell had been standing there, watching them with an expressionless face. And Faithlyn had somehow knew that he had either heard their conversation or read their lips and for the first time in a very long time, she felt tendrils of fear race through her.

That had been less than an hour ago and now, they sat there, eating a delicious meal and drinking red wine. Kell rose from his seat, lifting his glass. "A toast." he said evenly. "I see tonight....as a celebration of the spirit! To all of you, who continue to serve me loyally. Even those.....who might waver....at times." he said, his eyes locked on Faithlyn and Jin.

They glanced at each other before they tensed and returned the look at Kell.

He carried on with his words. "You....are my flock! You nourish....my soul." Kell began walking around the table. "You are all part of a great journey, a destiny of fulfillment." he moved behind Jin. "And here, my friends," he said, holding a sword in front of him. He lowered the point to the ground, holding the handle. "are the instrument of that fulfillment. The giver and taker....of creation." he moved back to the front of them. "Baptized in blood, it is the living that matters...after all."

Jin slowly reached down under his chair and grasped his sword, prepared to defend his existence if it came to that. He had a sudden feeling of dread coursing through him.

"It sings like an Angel." Kell continued as he raised his sword to be even with his face, watching the blade as they smiled at him, except for Jin. "Just listen." he whispered as he slowly pulled his hands apart, revealing that the sword he held was in fact, two blades of powerful steel. As the two blades were seen, Jin's eyes flashed and he rose form his seat quickly, holding his sword in front of him.

As Jin moved up, Kell jumped onto the long table, extending his swords outward. One of them aiming at Zeke and Rayzor while the other was aimed towards Faithlyn and Jin. Jin stared at him hard, slowly shaking his head. He knew fighting was pointless now. He and the others had been lured into this trap by Kell and Jin would face whatever happened now with honor, awaiting his death. Kell projected power from his arms into the blades and powerful beams of white energy cascaded from the blades and struck the bodies of the four Knights.

They all yelled out as the powerful bolts of power surged through their bodies. Kell slowly lifted his hands into the air, the blades lifting up. And the four Knights bodies were in the air as well. The energy slowly was drained from their bodies and entered into Kell's body as he yelled out his completion of absorbing the mystical energy he needed. When it was over and the bolts of energy were no longer flickering, all that was left of the Knights of Dekhleti were piles of dust in the seats where they had stood and sat.

Smiling, Kell walked out of the room where the dinner had taken place. He had just achieved the first element that he needed. Now, he needed the girl.

---**---

Tara entered her and Willow's bedroom in silence. The redhead was already in her sleeping clothes, a sleeveless pink top with a pair of boxer shorts. She was rubbing a little lotion on her arms as her lover entered. The two women shared a familiar look. Another dangerous event was happening and they were involved. But one thing they were happy about was that neither of them were really at the center of it. Just involved.

"You okay?" Tara asked, not sure how Willow must be feeling now that they knew that Willow's high school friend, or ex-friend, Amy, was the center of Kell's plans.

Willow shook her head as she pulled the covers back and slid in. "I'm just finding it all hard to believe that we're going to be helping Amy after everything she's put us through recently." the redhead said as she watched her lover. Tara was over by the dresser. She removed her shirt first, exposing her back to Willow's appreciative eyes.

Tara reached behind her to unsnap her bra and let the garment fall to where her shirt lay. Unbuckling her pants, she slid them down and and put them with the other two items. And finally, her back still facing Willow, she pulled down her white panties and put them on top of the other clothes. Reaching into the dresser, she pulled out her sleevless cut off shirt and pulled it over her chest. She grabbed a pair of her boxers and pulled them on before she picked up her discarded clothes and took them to the hamper on the other side of the room. Reaching up, she let her hair down from the clip she'd had holding it up. When that was finished, she climbed into bed next to her lover and cuddled up against her side.

Willow flipped out the light and before she lay back down, her eyes locked on the two suitcases that were filled with clothes they were taking with them. She sighed as she relaxed against the bed and pulled Tara's body against her.

"What's wrong?" Tara asked.

"I hate this." Willow answered.

"What?"

"The constant fighting. I hate having to constantly be involved in some conflict or another." Willow said honestly.

Tara pressed her cheek against Willow's skin above the shirt. "I know you do. I hate it too but...it's something we can't get away from. Even if we moved out of the house and got our own place, I still think we'd always run the risk of getting into trouble one way or another."

Willow swallowed. "Then how....how are we supposed to get married, raise this child together, knowing we're constantly going to have to fight every day?"

Tara pursed her lips, hating that Willow seemed to be in this much emotional pain. "It's what we do Will. We live and we do it as best we can. Sure, we are going to have to fight to keep what we have and that's just a part of life. What I guess I'm trying to say is......Will, we've already faced a whole lot more than any two people should have to....to just be together. And our journey isn't over. But I think deep down, that you and I together, can brave any storm, can face any danger, no matter how dangerous, and still come out of it together and happy." Tara told her lover, giving her a kiss on the lips.

Willow smiled at her, returning the kiss. They both sighed together as familiar tingles surged through their bodies. It seemed that every time they kissed, their passions flared. But they knew that for right now, they needed to rest. There was no time for lovemaking tonight. Tara relaxed her body against Willow's and closed her eyes, feeling Willow's arm tighten around her. Willow closed her eyes, just glad to still have this closeness with her Tara.

Jacob pulled his black Trans Am in front of the Summers House and turned the engine off as he opened his door. He wore his usual getup, with his armored vest over his shirt. His face was set in all business as he walked up to the front door. He had his bags packed full of other shirts and pants, but mostly weapons. Stopping in front of the door, he knocked softly before he entered. There wasn't anyone in the living room, so he walked towards the kitchen. He saw the littler Summers sister rinsing out a bowl she had ate cereal with.

"Hello Dawn. Where is everyone?" Jacob asked.

Dawn smiled at him. "Hey Jacob. Um...Buffy's upstairs packing a few things. Willow and Tara are upstairs, getting dressed. And Giles came by this morning to pick up Xander and Buffy. They're getting a van to take everyone else. Buffy wanted me to tell you that me she'll ride with you and the rest of us will ride in the van."

He nodded. "Alright. That should work." he said, looking at the Slayer's sister. Dawn was wearing a light purple long sleeved shirt with a pair of black pants. She had her hair combed back.

Dawn looked at him. She studied him for several minutes before she spoke. "You like my sister, don't you."

Jacob was silent. "What do you mean?"

"You know exactly what I mean. You like her as in.....you have romantic feelings for her." Dawn said.

Jacob sighed, he had hoped he'd kept his feelings guarded and a secret. Obviously he hadn't. "Yes, I do. But there are complications."

"There always are. Complications I mean. Especially for Buffy." Dawn said.

"What do you mean?" Jacob asked, interested.

Dawn trusted Jacob, that much the younger sister knew. And she thought he would be a good thing for Buffy. That's why the next words out of her mouth were ones she knew she shouldn't say, but she felt dignified in saying them. "It's just that the last guy, a vampire really, that Buffy had feelings for...well, he hurt her pretty badly."

"I know all about Angel, Dawn." Jacob told her.

She shook her head. "I'm not talking about Angel. I'm talking about the fling she had with Spike."

"Spike?"

"Yes, he's this creep who used to hate Buffy's guts. Now he's all obsessed with her. Stealing her clothes, even having a robot version of her to have sex with. Last year, though, because of Buffy's recent situation, they kind of slept together for a while. When she finally stopped it, Spike almost raped her. We haven't seen hide nor hair from him since." Dawn explained.

Jacob appeared calm on the outside, but anyone who knew him well had seen him, they would have recognized the signs. If Giles had been there, he'd of seen the lines of fury that were on his face and the look that was in his eyes. Jacob was really wishing that this Spike was in Sunnydale so he could seek him out and give him a good beating. Worse than that, Jacob was ready to stake him. Jacob needed to get his bearings under control before the others arrived. Sighing, he tried to calm down.

---**---

Less than ten minutes later, a black van pulled up in the driveway at the Summers House. Giles, Xander, and Buffy exited the van as they headed to the house. Entering, they entered the living room. Xander was wearing a regular white t-shirt over a pair of blue jeans. Buffy wore a blue sleeveless shirt with a flower design on it over a pair of her black pants, and Giles wore his usual gray sweater with a white shirt under it and a pair of black jeans.

Willow and Tara were sitting close together on the couch when they entered. The two witches looked up as they entered the house. Both were dressed for the long day ahead of them. Tara was dressed in a long sleeved t-shirt of a deep green color. She had the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. A pair of blue jeans covered her legs. Her lover had worn something different than that. Willow wore a dark red top that covered her stomach, her chest and part of her shoulders. A light green sweater was over her shirt. She wore a pair of dark pants over her legs.

"You guys ready?" Buffy asked.

The witches nodded.

Jacob entered with Dawn. "We're ready too." Jacob said, glancing at the Slayer.

"Alright, I'm riding with Jacob and the rest of you will go ahead in the van." Buffy told them.

"Once we leave, it'll probably take us the better part of two hours to get to the point to where we'll have to hike the rest of the way. We should get going." Jacob told them.

Within moments, Jacob and Buffy were in his Trans Am, pulling away from the house. Giles was driving the van with Xander in the seat next to him. Dawn sat behind Giles with Thomas just behind her, looking through his notebooks. And the two witches had taken the long seat in the back. Together, the entire group headed out of Sunnydale, on their way to get Amy from the monastery before Kell could get to them.

None of them saw it, but Kell had been watching from behind a tree. He smiled evilly. They were going to lead him right to her.

---**---

The drive out of Sunnydale on towards the point where they would have to hike the remainder of the way was in relative silence. Jacob and Buffy were in the Trans Am and ahead of the van Giles had gotten ahold of. Right now, they were about fifteen minutes from reaching their destination and Buffy was watching the greenery they passed as she contemplated the conversation she wanted to start with Jacob. It was a topic she'd wanted to approach with him for a while, but she wasn't sure if it was one he'd want to take part in.

Right now, they were on a pretty smooth dirt road that led to the point to where they would have to hike and they were fifteen minutes from that spot. Forging ahead, Buffy decided to take the chance. "Hey Jacob?" she asked, starting the conversation.

"Yeah?" the Daywalker replied, his hand staying on the steering wheel as he moved the vehicle forward. He kept a conscious eye on the mirror every few minutes to make sure the van was following.

"If this is a little too personal, feel free to not answer. I was wondering about.....the vampire that you've been searching for." Buffy said gently.

Watching him, she saw Jacob's face twitch as he thought her words over in his mind. After a few seconds, he relaxed. "What about it?"

"Do you know anything about the vamp?" Buffy asked.

Jacob watched the fields all around them for a few seconds as he prepared to answer. "I don't know the vamp's name, but I've been able to learn a little about him. Some of my contacts tell me he's killed two Slayers in his lifetime and that he has blonde hair." Jacob paused. "This may or may not be relevant, but I've been told that the vamp was originally from England, well before he was turned."

Buffy tried to keep her feeling of dread from reaching her face as she turned her face to the window. She was starting to have a really bad feeling about what Jacob told her. A vampire that killed two Slayers, was from England originally, and had blonde hair. And Buffy knew a vampire that had those three things in common. Mere coincidence, Buffy hoped so, otherwise things were going to get a whole lot icky if Spike ever showed up in Sunnydale again. She sighed and relaxed against the seat as their trip continued.

About twenty minutes later, the two cars arrived at the point where the vehicles couldn't go any further. Both vehicles had moved slower and that being the reason they arrived five minutes later than normal. Opening the car door, Jacob exited his Trans Am and popped the trunk. Buffy was already out and heading back to where the van was stopping. As the others began leaving the van, Jacob began moving through his stuff in the trunk.

He unsnapped his vest and slid it off so he could pull over his shoulders two leather slings on either side of the built in sheath that held his sword in place. As the others watched in rapt fascination, Jacob first pulled out a rifle shotgun and sheathed it on the sling on his left side at his back. He had a refill of ammunition in one of his pockets on his pants. Reaching into his trunk, he pulled out a bazooka and snapped it into the sling on the right side of his back. Then he pulled his armored vest back over his shoulders and snapped it closed.

"Where in the world do you come up with that stuff?" Xander asked, astonished.

Jacob picked his sword up out of the trunk and turned to them, sheathing it at his back. "I have contacts all around the world. Some of them are into weaponry. Occasionally, some of them will give me new weapons. I've only had this bazooka for a few months."

"Alright, we need to get moving." Giles said, his voice brooking no argument.

And that's what they did. The locked the two vehicles up and grabbed the things they would need and began heading out. Although suitcases were packed, they had decided that since they would be traveling for a lengthy amount of time, it would be better to leave them in the cars. They only grabbed a change of clothes and headed out.

Jacob and Buffy were in the front, leading the way as Jacob showed them how to get to the monastery that had Amy in it. Willow and Tara walked a few feet behind the two chosen ones with Dawn and Thomas a little ways behind them and Giles and Xander brought up the rear, the entire group heading upwards into the mountains.

"This is a beautiful place." Tara said, her eyes looking over the grassy fields and the few clouds that grazed the blue sky.

Willow nodded. She'd removed the light green sweater and had it stuffed in the bag she carried over her shoulder. "It's very beautiful." she said, appreciating the view of the area as they continued to move upward.

"You know..." Tara murmured, flicking her eyes to Willow's face, "if you wanted, we could.....um....have the wedding somewhere out here."

It was the one subject that they hadn't really talked about. Even though the wedding was getting closer, they had shied away from speaking about it because of the arguments that had risen about it. Willow had wanted at least some of her Jewish customs to be involved, but Tara wanted it to be the traditional handfasting that she'd learned about as a child.

"Out here, in the wild?" Willow replied.

"No." the blonde shook her head. "I mean....out here....somewhere beautiful like this. I just think it would be a nice place to have our wedding, that's all."

"Having a wedding out here would be a perfect thing, Tara. I think we should plan it that way. Well, given that we survive this mess."

"Oh...we will." Tara said, smiling at her lover.

"How can you be so sure?" Willow asked.

Tara put her hands in her pockets. "Well, first of all, we have the Slayer and the Daywalker on our side. And second, every single one of has a motivation to win and not let this guy Kell win." she said, "I mean, Xander has his future with Anya that he wants to have. Dawn has her life in front of her and I do know she wants to live it. You and me, well we have a wedding to have and a family to raise. Giles has the motivation to see Buffy have her happiness and as for Buffy and Jacob, correct me if I'm wrong....but, they seem to be falling for each other."

Willow wrapped her fingers around Tara's forearm as she leaned closer. "Yeah, they are. At first, I was kind of surprised by it, but....they fit. I wouldn't have thought it....but they do."

"Well, there you go. We all have very good reasons to see this through, so we'll make it." Tara said. "But to be honest, I'm more worried about Amy than anything else."

"Why?" Willow asked.

"Will, Amy hates all of us. She hates you because it took you so long to turn her back to human and that wasn't your fault. She shouldn't be blaming you for that because she was the stupid one, turning herself into one." Tara shook her head. "Anyway, she's not too fond of you because you wouldn't do magic with her and she blames the rest of us for that too. I'm just not convinced that when we get there, she'll accept our words and come peacefully."

Willow had her arm linked through her lover's. "Maybe being in this monastery's doing Amy some good. Maybe these monks up here are helping her gain peace with herself." Willow supplied, hopeful about her school time friend.

"We can hope." Tara answered, leaning into Willow.

Up ahead of the witches, Jacob was chatting with Buffy as the group continued to hike up the path that was now surrounded by the beginnings of the mountain. He had unsnapped his vest to let some of the cool air hit him to help him cool off. He had his senses alert, though, in case of any dangers that might come their way.

"Are you sure it's gonna take us three days to get there?" Buffy asked, wiping her forehead of the sweat that had gathered there.

Jacob glanced at both sides of the walls they were walking between. "Actually, we've made very good time. We're further along than I thought we'd be by now. If we keep this up, we'll be there tomorrow evening."

"Good, that's very good." Buffy replied.

"Not much of a hiker, are you?" Jacob glanced at her.

"Me? No way. The most hiking I've ever done in my life is going through my yard when the grass is high." Buffy told him.

He chuckled. "I've hiked a lot in my younger years. Before....before the thirst for blood had taken control of me." he said.

"Before Giles found you." Buffy said.

He nodded. "Yes, Rupert did a lot for me and he didn't have to. He saved my life then."

"And...since then you've always gone after vamps and demons?"

He shrugged. "Like I've been saying, I want revenge on the monster that is responsible for my thirst for blood. I want the satisfaction of knowing I achieved my quest. That I brought peace to myself and to my mother's memory."

"And you think staking the vamp's gonna do that?" Buffy asked gently.

Jacob was silent as he thought about her statement. The questions she was asking him about his mother and the vamp that attacked her were a little personal to him, but the Daywalker knew that if he wanted a relationship with her that was more than just allies, he had to truthful with her.

"I think..." he paused, "I think that if I can at least confront him, confront the vampire that did this to my mother, to me, then I can have the peace I've always sought. Because, every time I've staked a vampire, every time I've slain a demon, I feel like I've gotten back a little piece of the life I could have had."

Buffy nodded, keeping silence as they all continued on.

The group of hikers moved through the mountain area quickly and without much trouble for the remainder of that day and they found a nice place to make camp. They made camp next to a small lake, which was exactly what everyone needed. They all used the lake to refill their canteens and to privately bathe. Even though they slept on the ground, it wasn't much of a problem. Willow and Tara slept in a secluded area, cuddled together. Dawn slept close to the lake with the others sleeping around her as well.

When the next morning rolled around, they were all ready to move on. With the progress they had made the day before, Jacob anticipated them to arrive at the monastery before the day's end. So just after the sun rose to begin the start of a new day, they were off, away from the lake they had camped at and on their way to the monastery, Jacob leading them.

Jacob had just told them that they had less than a mile to go before reaching it. Jacob was in the lead with Giles and Thomas, the three talking about the Prophecy of the End of Dayz. Xander was a little ways behind them, just looking around the greenery as he moved. Dawn was chatting with Tara behind him and Buffy was walking with Willow, the two bringing up the rear. Willow noticed something with her friend and she questioned her about it.

"Something bothering you, Buffy?" Willow asked.

Buffy stared ahead for a few moments as she watched Jacob walk. She then looked at the redhead. "Can you keep a secret, Will?"

Willow's eyebrows hiked. "Um, I can try I guess. But you know me and secrets don't go well together."

The Slayer nodded. "Will, I think I know the vampire that killed Jacob's mother and made him what he is."

Willow stopped cold for a moment before she started walking again. She was truly shocked by the news. "You know?"

"Well, I'm pretty sure it's someone you and I both know. Jacob told me that the vamp was English, had blonde hair, and that the vamp killed two Slayers in his lifetime." Buffy told her friend, watching for her reaction.

Willow merely looked ahead as they continued to walk ahead. "So, you think it's Spike."

Buffy nodded. "Those three things have one thing in common. Spike. I can't ignore it."

"Are you going to tell him?" Willow asked.

Buffy looked at the ground. "How can I?" she looked at the redhead. "Because if I do, he's going to find out about the whole sleeping with Spike and I definitely don't want him finding out about that. At least, not yet."

Willow looked at her. "Buffy, you can't keep this secret much longer. And I think that Jacob's going to find out about Spike whenever he returns to Sunnydale."

"You think Spike's coming back." Buffy said.

"Yeah, I'm sure of it. I don't think we'll ever be rid of him." Willow said.

Buffy shook her head but she was unable to argue with that logic. Ever since that first night with Spike, Buffy had felt changed. She had made a decision that she knew would change everything and it had. Ever since that night in the bathroom and learning of Spike's disappearance, she'd started wondering where Spike went. Was his pain at what he almost did driving him to stay away or was he acknowledging the beast within him? Those were thoughts she had thought about.

She shook her head, continuing on with the hike. She changed the subject. "So how are things with you and Tara?" she asked.

"We're doing great." Willow replied, a smile hitting her face whenever she thought or talked about the blonde witch. "Yesterday, she kind of hinted at me about having our wedding out here, you know in the country."

Buffy smiled. "Yeah, it seems like a good idea to me."

"Yeah, it would be nice." Willow said, imagining the wedding being held out in the sun with a grassy field surrounding them. Just thinking about it made her insides surge with the warmth she felt whenever she thought about Tara.

"So, you two looking forward to having this baby?" Buffy asked, pointing at Willow's stomach.

The redhead grinned at her. "Oh yeah. Tara's so happy about it, she even suggested going shopping for maternity wear. Wouldn't that be something?"

"Yeah, that would be great." Buffy felt happy for her friend. At least one of them was starting to have better days in their lives.

The redhead woman and Buffy slowed as Jacob, Thomas, and Giles stopped. They had stopped at the top of a very high and steep hill. As they drew near, Jacob turned. "What is it?" Buffy asked.

Jacob pointed down the steep hill. "We're here."

Buffy looked down the hill and her eyes widened. There was a compound made out of wood and stone. A rectangular shaped fort with a stone gate surrounding it was visible. Within the gate was many homes made out of wooden logs and other hard materials like stone and rock. At the front gate where they were facing, they could see two monks standing guard.

"That's a pretty large monastery." Buffy noted.

"Well, a lot of the monasteries have been attacked by different demons and such so the elders of the monasteries have increased the defenses here. Come on, we need to hurry before Kell finds this place." Jacob said.

"You think he knows about it?" Willow asked as Tara came to stand beside her.

They started moving down the steep hill towards the valley where the monastery was built. "Maybe not yet, but this Amy's in his blood just like he's in hers. He can feel her presence and I'm sure he's on his way right now."

They moved down the hill that led to the front gate in only minutes and they soon found themselves facing two monks in yellow cloth robes. The two guards held quarterstaffs in their hands as the group approached. "What business have you here?" the monk on the right asked. He had a bald head and pale gray eyes.

Jacob pulled his black glove off his right hand and held his palm out, facing the monks. "I am a brother of the monastery. I seek to speak with Josiah concerning a great matter."

Upon seeing the mark that adorned Jacob's palm, the monks bowed their head. It was a mark that Jacob had been born with. It was also the mark that designated the Daywalker. Most of the monasteries in existence knew of the legend of the Daywalker and that the Daywalker had a mark on his hand. Without further word, the monks opened the gates to the monastery and the group were ushered inside.

The semi-large group entered the monastery's compound, seeing the attention they were drawing by the looks on the faces of all of the monks. Jacob led them to the larges building on the compound, the worship chamber. Jacob opened the double steel doors and led them inside. As before, Josiah was sitting on his small throne as they approached. He didn't look at all surprised to see them, just very concerned.

Jacob lowered himself to one knee and lightly kissed Josiah's knuckles in respect to the older man. "Josiah, you know why we are here."

Josiah nodded. He answered, his voice slightly choked as he was battling a fever at the time. "Yes, the demon has risen from his Hell dimension and you are here for the woman you brought to me."

Jacob nodded, rising to his feet. "Let me introduce you..."

"There is no need, Jacob. I know already who these are. You are the Vampire Slayer." Josiah said. She nodded. "And you are...no....you were the Key."

Dawn nodded, surprised that Josiah knew that. He continued. "You are Xander, loyal friend to the Slayer. You...you are her Watcher." Giles nodded. Then Josiah's eyes flickered to Thomas. "You....you are a man who's studied this Prophecy that predicts these events."

"I am." Thomas replied.

Josiah nodded as his gaze flickered to the witches, watching him. He smiled. "You are witches. Willow Rosenberg and Tara Maclay. I have been told much about you by the Powers That Be."

"Yo...you have?" Tara stuttered.

"Yes, but now is not the time to discuss that. Mikas?" he summoned one of the other monks.

"Yes Josiah." Mikas said, kneeling down.

"Bring Amy here." the older monk said.

"At once." Mikas said, turning and disappearing around the corner.

Josiah turned back to the assembled group. "You do not have much time."

"What do you mean?" Giles asked.

Josiah let out a breath. "The alignment of the planets isn't happening at the time the Prophecy predicts. The alignment's happening tonight."

"How do you know this?" Jacob asked, concerned.

"I receive visions from the Powers. They showed me a rather powerful vision last night. It involved all of you being here. But it also involved Kell, the Dark Son, being here as well. The only observation I can make is that he's followed you. He's not far from here as we speak."

Looks of dread and worry passed over their faces. "What are we going to do?" Buffy asked.

Josiah looked at his old hands. "I have already explained this to the girl. She knows the words to be true because recently, she has began seeing Kell in her nightmares. She knows he's coming to sacrifice her in order to open the Gates and she's ready to help you in any way possible."

"Amy," Xander spoke up, "how is she? I mean, have you reached her while she's been here?"

The older monk looked at Xander. "It has been a difficult experience, but she has finally seen the damage of her actions and she's ready to atone for them. She may still be difficult at times, but she's ready nonetheless."

The door behind Josiah opened and Mikas returned, Amy following behind. The entire group looked surprised at her appearance. She looked much different than when Jacob took her from Sunnydale. Her skin had the darker shade to it that comes from being exposed in the sun. Her hair was slightly longer than it was before and she was wearing an orange cloth robe tied at the waist by a yellow silk sash. She looked nervously at them, trying to smile but knowing the memories of what she did to them.

"Hello Amy." Buffy said, trying to be polite to her. But with all the memories of what Amy had done still fresh in her mind, she was having a difficult time.

"Hi." Amy said, still not sure if they were going to be civil with her.

"Amanda, please come here." Josiah said.

She obeyed at once, moving over and kneeling next to the monk. "Yes Josiah."

"Do you remember that conversation we had earlier about your nightmares?"

She nodded.

"That time has arrived. The Dark Son will be here momentarily. I want you to do whatever the Slayer and Daywalker tell you. They will keep you safe from his evil." Josiah said.

"Okay." Amy replied, looking at the two of them.

Thomas moved forward. "May I see your mark?"

Amy rolled up her sleeve and showed the symbol that she was born with to Thomas. He nodded and sighed at the same time. "Then it's true. He really is coming for you." Thomas said with a tone of regret.

"Listen to me," Josiah said, motioning to all of them, "I have enough mystical energy to teleport six of you to a far off destination. But Buffy and Jacob must remain to protect Amy from the Dark Son."

Buffy looked at her friends and looked at Josiah. "Alright, teleport them to the vehicles that we left. We'll get Amy there on foot."

"Buffy no!" Giles said angrily.

"That's suicide!!" Willow urged.

"Willow there's no room for argument here. Jacob and I need for all of you to be somewhere safe. We can't constantly be worrying about you when Kell gets here." Buffy said to her friend. She looked at Tara for support.

As much as Tara didn't like the idea of Buffy and Jacob going up against Kell by themselves, she knew this was the way things had to go. And she felt an inner peace that told her everything would work out in the end. She grabbed Willow's arm. "Will, it'll be okay. Buffy and Jacob can take care of themselves."

"I...I know....it's just..." Willow stammered, "Buffy....I don't......want to be leaving here thinking I won't see you again."

Buffy held Willow's hands. "You won't. Me and Jacob are going to get through this. We'll see you in Sunnydale, I promise!"

Reluctantly, Willow nodded.

A monk came running in through the entrance. "The Dark Son is here! He's just gotten through the front gate."

Josiah stood on his weak legs. "Alright, let's get you there."

"What about Amy? I mean, shouldn't she come with us?" Dawn asked, looking at the nervous former witch.

"No." Jacob said. "If we did that, Kell would know the moment the teleportation takes place. He wouldn't even waste his time with us. We need to keep her with us."

Giles looked at Buffy. Without saying anything, he walked up to her and embraced her with all the emotion he felt towards her. "Take care of yourself and of Jacob." Giles said in a tone so low that only she would hear.

"I will." she whispered back.

Walking over, Giles gave Jacob the type of hug that only a father would give a son, full of caring and love. "Don't let yourself get killed, Jacob. And watch out for Buffy." the Watcher whispered.

"You know I'll do my best." Jacob said, releasing the Watcher.

Giles nodded and returned to the group. Josiah raised his hands into the air and closed his eyes. His lips were moving, but he wasn't using his voice. He was mouthing an ancient Arabic language based spell that was created to shift living beings from one place to another. The only thing about the spell was that the person doing it had to be very powerful and be able to withstand the exhaustion that doing the spell causes.

The air around Dawn, Willow, Tara, Giles, Thomas, and Xander cackled and began glowing different colors. Moments later, the energy surrounded their bodies and a flash of light filled the entire room. When the light ended, they were no longer there. Josiah's legs buckled and he would have fallen to the floor had Mikas not been there. The monk carried the older monk from the room as Buffy and Jacob looked at each other. Their friends were safe and now, they just had to wait for Kell to show up so they could begin to keep Amy safe.

Less than ten seconds passed since Mikas took Josiah out of the room when the double doors were pushed open and there he was, the Dark Son Kell, standing in the center of the entrance, his hands on the two doors, watching the Slayer and the Daywalker before letting his eyes gaze at Amy. The demon in human form was wearing a pair of dark pants with a deep black colored robe over his upper body. It was tied together at the sides and there were four flaps. There was a black flap on the side of his right leg, the side of his left leg, a flap in front of his legs, and a flap at the back of his legs. He had a sword in it's sheat at his waist on his left side and on the chest of his robe was his symbol, the eyed triangle inside of the perfect circle. Kell let his fingers slide off the door as he walked down the aisle towards the three. Amy visibly cringed and moved behind Jacob and Buffy, who stood at the end of the aisle.

"Well..." Kell's voice rang out, "here we are! The Slayer and the Daywalker, facing OFF with the Big Bad villain!"

Jacob kept his eyes on Kell. "You know why we're here."

"Yes, I do." Kell replied. "But it will be of no consequence. None of you can stop me from achieving my destiny! I will open the Gates tonight! And there's nothing either of you can do to stop me!"

"We're going to see about that." Jacob said as he took one step forward. "Buffy?"

"Yeah?" Buffy replied, making sure Amy was behind her.

"Take Amy and start heading back the way we came." Jacob told her.

Buffy's head snapped to his. "What!"

Jacob looked at her. "Just do it. I'll catch up, I promise."

With a curse, Buffy grabbed Amy's arm and pulled her towards one of the side exits. Kell watched them leave then looked back at Jacob. "You want to fight me one on one?"

Slowly, Jacob reached behind him with his right gloved hand and pulled his sword from it's sheath. Kell did the same by pulling his sword free. The two fighters looked at each other in silence for long moments before they both moved forward and collided swords.

The New Update

Postby WilTaraFan » Sun Jun 16, 2002 7:40 pm

I'm diving in for the home plate. Heh, I mean this is the next to last update for The End of Dayz. This update, I'm sad to say, has little Willow Tara interaction as most of it is focused on the battles between Jacob and Kell. I do have a Tara scene that I just had to do.

As already posted, after The End of Dayz is completed, I'll be working on the first episode of my Virtual Season 7 of BtVS. I'll post them here on the board, but I'll be making htm files with neat little graphics and those will be put on my website at deviousone.hypermart.net. So, check 'em out when they're done. So far, the working title of the first episode is Immortal, Part 1. That could change at any moment, so stay tuned.

I hope you enjoy this update and I'll be back either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow with the last update. Enjoy.

Kudos!!!

Disclaimer

START OF NEW UPDATE

Buffy moved through the forestry, holding Amy by the wrist as she pulled the former witch with her. Less than five minutes earlier, they'd passed through the gate that the Slayer had entered with her friends to find it utterly destroyed, flames covering the ground where it had stood. The guards had been lying on the ground, not dead, but injured. It looked like Kell had blasted them with some kind of energy wave.

Amy hissed in pain as her foot stepped on a sharp branch. "Ow! Slow down, will you!"

Buffy stopped and looked at her. It was pretty late in the day and the sun was starting to set, the shadows from the trees already covering the two women. "Look Amy, we have to keep moving."

Amy rubbed her sore foot. "I know we do it's just...these are really thin sandals they have me wearing. My foot's really sore."

"Amy," Buffy said, exasperated, "we really don't have much time to waste here. Jacob told me of a rendezvous point where he'll catch up. We have to hurry."

"Where is it anyways?" Amy grumbled.

"There's a train station a couple miles east of here. The train will lead back to Sunnydale." Buffy answered.

Without further word, Buffy grabbed Amy's hand again and the two began moving down the slopes of the valley they were in and headed towards the train tracks.

Back inside the monastery's compound, the Dark Son and the Daywalker were battling using their swords. They had been clashing the blades together for long minutes. Jacob was breathing very heavily as Kell easily smashed his sword into his. The Dark Son was having no trouble at all. He was grinning from ear to ear as he moved forward, stepping up his attack and speeding his thrusts up with expert ease.

When this clashing of swords began, Jacob was able to use only his sword hand to meet Kell's strikes, but now he was holding his blade with both hands as he tried to meet each and every thrust the Dark Son threw his way, but he was tiring more quickly than he'd hoped and he was being backed up towards one of the walls, Kell moving in with a flurry of intense strikes.

As Jacob was nearing the back wall, Kell caught Jacob's blade in with his and hooked it under his, bringing both blades towards the ground. With the opening there, Kell backhanded Jacob across the face with his free hand. Jacob's body flew back with a solid intensity, crashing through the back wall he was near and hitting the ground on the other side, under the bricks and stone of the wall. Kell smiled as he began to step through the hole Jacob's body created.

"It seems..." Kell said, "that you are truly no match for me, Daywalker."

The armored vest that Jacob was thankful to be wearing took most of the force from the impact, but his back was still bruised from it. He held his sword in his right hand as he weakly tried to stand back up. As he was on one knee, he suddenly realized that he had to buy Buffy more time to get Amy to that train station otherwise everything they were fighting for right now would be over. All hopes for a future for everyone would instantly be ended. With a renewed effort, Jacob dove forward, catching the surprised Dark Son with a kick at his chest. With his increased strength, Jacob was able to move Kell back a few feet inside the worship temple. He rushed forward to continue his attack.

Kell found himself thoroughly surprised and impressed with the second wind that Jacob possessed at the moment. The Daywalker was moving forward, clashing their swords together at a fast pace that Kell was ready for, but was surprised at. Kell met each and every sword thrust head on, countering some and driving the Daywalker back a few steps before the Daywalker forged on and tried harder with his attack.

After several more minutes of their swords clashing, not only had Jacob moved Kell back to where the aisle was, but he also had changed their places. Kell was now the one with the wall with the large hole behind him. Jacob wasted no time, he quickly clashed his sword against Kell's one last time with enough force to move it upwards, then he kicked Kell in the chest with his left leg with enough force behind it to move the Dark Son back a few steps. Jacob stopped and with his left arm, he reached under him for the left sling holster and pulled his shotgun out. It was already loaded and cocked as he pointed it at Kell's chest.

Kell merely looked amused. "Jacob..." Kell said with amusement, "you know that no weapon forged by man can destroy me."

Jacob just nodded. "I know. This isn't supposed to destroy you."

Jacob opened fire a few times, the blasts from the shotgun hitting Jacob in his chest each of the times. Jacob's body hit the ground with a solid thud. There was no blood, it was as if the bullets bounced right off him, but they hadn't. Even though he was the Dark Son, Kell was using a human body and that human body was feeling the effects of the blasts.

Jacob looked at the front double doors for a moment then looked behind him. There was a window there shut with carefully carved wooden shutters, no glass. Jacob reholstered both his sword and the shotgun before turning and throwing his body through the wooden shutters. He landed on the ground a moment later and he was off running towards the front stone wall. Inside the temple, Kell was on his feet and heading out the front double doors. Less than ten seconds later, he was out of the building and looking at the wall. He saw Jacob diving over the wall and he had a dangerous look to his face.

Even though he was immortal and virtually unstoppable, Jacob had shown him that his body wasn't as strong as he thought. And he showed him that when needed, Jacob could ignite the flames of fury within him. Before he destroyed the Slayer and took the girl, Kell wanted Jacob's head. He sheathed his sword and walked towards the front gates, already knowing which direction Jacob had headed off to. He was determined to find the Daywalker and put an end to him as night began to fall over the forest.

---**---

Just as night had fallen over the forestry, Willow, Tara, Giles, Thomas, Dawn, and Xander all found themselves materializing right where their vehicles had been left. Although it was only a day since they'd left them, to the group assembled, it felt like months. Giles walked around, looking at the area around them.

"We need to get back to Sunnydale." Giles said.

"Yeah, we should. There's no telling where Buffy and Jacob are right now." Willow replied.

They left Jacob's Trans Am where it was and packed up in the van. Giles drove with Thomas sitting in the passenger's seat next to him. Xander and Dawn sat behind them with the witches sitting behind them. The drive was mostly silent as they headed back to Sunnydale. But one thought was going through all of their minds. They hoped their two friends were alright and they hoped they were keeping Amy safe from Kell.

And while they were thinking that on their ride back to the city, Buffy and Amy were finally arriving at the train station. The Slayer let go of Amy's hand as she looked inside the only train on the tracks at the moment. The train conductor walked quickly towards her, his movements awkward and edgy.

"Are you Buffy Summers?" the conductor asked.

"Yes." Buffy replied, looking at the slightly overweight man. "Who are you?"

"The name's George. Where's Jacob?"

"He's meeting us here. He's probably already on the way." Buffy answered as she looked at Amy who was nervously walking towards them.

"Well, he better hurry. He told me to wait until eleven o'clock tonight. If he's not here by then, he wanted me to take off for Sunnydale." George told her.

"He'll be here." Buffy promised. "He better." she whispered to herself.

---**---

He felt like his legs couldn't possibly go any more, but he knew he had to because the alternative was not only death, but death to millions of people around the world. Jacob panted heavily, moving past tree after tree as he followed the path he knew led to the train station where he'd told Buffy they would meet up at. He really hoped she was already there with Amy. And he hoped his old friend George would follow his instructions to the letter and leave at eleven even if Jacob wasn't there by then.

Jacob passed a particularly thick tree and he suddenly found an arm extended out of nowhere, his chest hitting it and forcing his body into the air and twisting around until he landed on his chest, breathing hard. The arm slowly lowered to the ground as Kell stepped out from where he'd been waiting for Jacob to show up. Even though Kell needed to get the girl so he would be ready for the alignment tonight, he wanted to end this mess with Jacob once and for all. Otherwise, he knew Jacob, like Buffy, would stick his nose in his business later on down the road. And that was something the Dark Son wasn't going to allow to happen.

Jacob rose to his knees as he shook his head. His vision was slowly blurred from the impact of hitting the ground and after a moment of concentrating, he was able to clear his vision as he stood on his feet. Kell was standing there, looking at him with menace on his face.

"Did you really think I was going to allow you to live? Especially after what you've tried to do."

Jacob flexed his fingers, he was only going to have once chance at what he was thinking. "I know I can't destroy you Kell, but I'm going to do whatever I can to make sure you don't succeed. And you've only got a certain amount of time left."

Kell slowly pulled out his sword again, surprised when Jacob didn't pull his out. "Have you finally accepted your defeat?"

Slowly inching his right hand back behind him, his fingers grasped the bazooka under his vest and he slowly inched it outward. "If dying tonight means stopping you, then I'm willing to do it."

"And why exactly is that?" Kell asked as he tried a sudden sword thrust at Jacob.

Moving quickly, Jacob watched as Kell's sword struck and was stuck in the tree behind him until Kell pulled it free. He grasped his bazooka again, slowly inching it out of his vest. "Kell, you've got to understand something. I may be on a quest for justice, but I also learned something else over the years. I accepted my destiny as the Daywalker a long time ago. And being the Daywalker means that I have taken it upon myself to safeguard the preservation of humanity by fighting the forces of darkness. And dying means very little compared to that."

Kell stayed silent, just watching him and mindlessly moving his blade a little in his hand. Jacob took a deep breath, he knew what he was about to do would not only give Buffy and him more time, but it was likely to be painful. Taking another deep breath, Jacob pulled the bazooka from it's sling under his vest and he aimed it first at Kell.

Kell laughed. "Well, you certainly come prepared, don't you." he snickered before his face turned serious. "You know that won't hurt me."

Jacob nodded. "Yes, I know it won't hurt you in any way." Jacob said, then lowering the bazooka's barrel to the ground a few feet in front of Kell. He knew after he pressed the trigger, the explosion would blow both of them apart by many feet. He sent a silent prayer to his mother in Heaven that he survive this. "But it will buy me and Buffy more time." he said before he suddenly pulled the trigger on the bazooka.

As he pulled the trigger, Jacob had his body turned and he ran before the blast even left his bazooka. But the grenade type explosion happened regardless. The explosion threw his body up into the air and several feet away as it did the same to Kell's form. The explosion rising up higher than the tree line and anyone miles away could see the flames in the air.

A few minutes of silence lasted as the remnants of the explosion faded away to smoke and a few sizzling flames on the ground. Many trees were burned to a cinder and laying on the ground, it's leaves no longer visible. Several feet from where the explosion happened, Jacob pushed a heavy piece of wood off his chest and sat up, looking around. He couldn't see Kell anywhere, but he knew the Dark Son wasn't gone. He would only be gone after midnight tonight, provided he didn't sacrifice Amy.

There was some pain in both his legs and over his forearms as some flames had touched his skin, but he knew within a couple hours, those injuries would be gone because of his supernatural healing powers. Like Buffy, the healing worked almost instantly. With a hiss, Jacob was on his feet and he grabbed the bazooka that was on the ground a few feet away and reholstered it, heading towards the train station, which was only about twenty minutes away from him.

---**---

Each and every one of the others were nervous and worried as they stood inside the Magic Box. Xander was constantly going to the window next to the front door, hoping to see either Buffy or Jacob heading their way. But each time he looked, the result was the same. Nothing.

They had gotten back to the Magic Box in record time, Giles driving the van faster than they had ever seen him drive before. Normally, the Watcher was a very careful and cautious driver. And to them, that meant slow, agonizingly slow. Nevertheless, he surprised them with his speed in getting them there.

Dawn was sitting over by the round table with Willow, both looking worried and not knowing what to do. Giles and Thomas were behind the counter with Anya, just waiting for something, anything, to do. Tara walked up to where Xander was standing and stopped a few feet from the construction worker. "How are you doing, Xander?" Tara asked.

"Well, considering everything that's happened today....I have to say I'm as nervous as a kid going to see the dentist." Xander replied, rubbing his eyes.

Tara looked at the floor. She was trying so hard to get to know everyone and she thought trying to start a conversation with Xander might be a good idea but right now, she couldn't really think of anything to say, considering what's happened. But there was something she wanted to say to him, something she'd been wanting to say for a while now. Well, since she'd been brought back. "Thank you." she said.

Xander looked up. "Thank you? For what?"

Tara gazed in his eyes, biting her lower lip. For some reason, that made him squirm. "Xander, while I was....in that limbo place, I could see and feel and hear everything that was happening with Willow and with all of you. I saw everything she did and everything you did."

Xander watched her, his eyes intent now.

"And, facing her when she didn't care about anything was a risk." Tara continued, her eyes falling on Willow for a moment. "But you faced her and brought her down from the dark place she'd allowed her heart to go to. And I want to tell you thank you for it. Because I've been thinking about it and I think that even if you hadn't succeeded in saving her and even if she failed in destroying the world, I still think Sonya Baxter would have brought me back, she just would have found another way."

Xander looked away before returning his gaze to her. "What would have happened if she was still on her vengeance trip when you were brought back?"

Tara rubbed her hands. "I don't think she would have believed it was me. And she probably might've tried to destroy me and she would have succeeded. And I don't think she would have wanted to live if that had happened. But in any event, I just wanted to say thank you for saving her. She means everything to me."

Xander smiled at the blonde, grateful to know her. "Willow's my best friend Tara. It's like I told her, if the world was going to end, there was no place I'd rather be than with her when she did it."

Tara looked down. "Well, I just wanted to say thanks." she said before she slowly walked back over to Willow, Xander watching her move back. His eyes closed for a moment, then he renewed his watch over the window.

"I found it!" Thomas suddenly yelled inside the Magic Box. The others gathered around.

"Found what?" Willow asked, walking forward.

"I found the answer to the question that's eluded me for years." Thomas said. "I've always wondered how the Dark Son could be defeated. This page makes reference to the Prophecy. According to this, if Kell fails in his attempt to open the Gates, then it will be over. It says that because he is a being of immense power, if his reason for being on Earth is gone, then the Hell dimension he comes from will pull him back as soon as the alignment passes."

"So," Xander said, "if we keep him from getting Amy until this alignment passes, we won't have to worry about him."

"Exactly." Thomas replied.

"Let's just hope Buffy and Jacob are keeping her safe until they can get back here." Willow said, looking at all of them.

---**---

At the location of the explosion, there was little to no movement. However, a moment later, large pieces of wood and bark were roughly shoved out of the way as Kell sat up, looking around the now deserted area of the forest. The Dark Son snarled as he rose to his feet. "Jacob!!!" he yelled in an angry tone. He wasted no time, he moved forward, walking with purpose, he wouldn't let Jacob outsmart him again.

Several yards ahead of him, Jacob moved with purpose, passing every tree he passed. He was only a few yards from the train station now. He was tired and more than that, his body was sore from the amount of abuse he'd already taken and he knew it was only going to get worse as time went by. As he moved forward, he quickly checked his watch to see the time. His eyes widened at the time.

It was getting close to eleven and that meant that Kell would probably be trying get to Buffy and Amy by now. Jacob sped up his movement as he finally broke free of the forestry and hit the tracks, running as fast as he could. He could see the train less than fifty feet from him and as he moved quicker, he saw Buffy standing on the railing of the last car, her eyes widened as she saw him.

"Jacob!" Buffy called out upon seeing him.

Moments later, Jacob was there, climbing onto the last car, Buffy gripping his shoulder as he breathed hard from the exertion of his energy. "Are you alright?" Amy asked, seeing him.

He nodded once as George came into the car. "Jacob, I was wondering when you were going to show up."

"George, thanks for arranging this in so little time." Jacob hugged his long time friend.

"I'm just glad I was here to help you." George returned the hug.

"Alright, we need to get moving, now!" Jacob said, pushing the other man towards the conductor's area. George wasted no further time, moving from car to car until he was starting the train forward on the tracks.

"I heard that explosion and I didn't know what to think." Buffy said, looking at him and noticing how exhausted he seemed. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, just a little winded." he answered her. "I'm afraid I'm responsible for the explosion. I needed to buy us some time."

Buffy looked past his shoulder and her entire body jerked, pulling the Daywalker around. Down on the tracks was Kell, walking towards them with purpose. And as the train began to pick up speed and move further and further away, they saw the Dark Son begin running towards the train.

"Oh crap." Jacob said, watching Kell. He unsnapped his pocket on his lower right side and pulled out his cell phone. He handed it to Buffy. Get to the very first car and then call Giles at the Magic Box. Tell him where we are and have him get here as fast as he can."

Buffy nodded, not used to being ordered around but willing to go with it for now. Jacob ushered them ahead of him as the three of them moved from car to car until they were at the first car. There were only four cars so it wasn't a long trip. After they were all inside the first car, Buffy began making the call and Jacob went out to the area where the cars were connected. With his left hand, he held the handle and reached his upper body down.

"What are you doing?" Buffy demanded as she waited for the rings to happen.

"I've got to separate the cars. I have an idea that might give us all the time we need." Jacob answered as he grabbed the steel lever that held the cars together and he started to pull as hard as he could. Kell, in the meantime, was running closer and closer to the last car of the train.

As he was within reach, he suddenly dove off the ground and his body flew through the air, his legs raising high as he landed with a solid thumping sound on the railing of the last car. He snarled his lips as he moved forward in the cars. Up at the first car, Jacob was still pulling the lever. With a loud and audible grunt, the lever moved free as Jacob let go of it. The front car and the three other cars was released as Jacob watched the distance being put in between them. He and Buffy, still on the phone, watched as Kell moved to the end of the car watching them with a rising rage. Jacob reached behind him and once again removed his bazooka and popped the loading barrel open. Reaching down, he took a shell out of his pocket and loaded the bazooka.

"Where the hell did you get that?" Buffy asked him.

"I have many contacts, Buffy." Jacob replied. He pulled back the loading mechanism on the bazooka and aimed it at the car where Kell was standing. Making sure his aim was perfect, he waited a second and pulled the trigger.

The powerful blast left the bazooka and traveled through the air before it crashed into the car, Kell watching it come closer as it did. The car exploded, the force of it sending the other two cars crashing off the tracks and tumbling over and over until they too exploded into waves and waves of flames. Jacob and Buffy watched it all happen. Both saw the initial explosion and the two explosions that followed. Amy was huddled in one of the seats, too scared to say or do anything more.

Buffy glanced at Jacob. "Is that it?"

The Daywalker put his bazooka back under his vest. He glanced at his watch. "That didn't destroy Kell, but it's bought us a little time. Kell's got less than an hour left to do the ceremony, otherwise, it's going to be too late for him."

"What are we going to do now?" Amy asked from her huddled position.

"I got a hold of Giles. He and the others are at the Magic Box. I told them where we are and they're on their way." Buffy told Jacob.

Jacob nodded, leaning against the side of one of the seats. "It's almost over." he sighed.

She sat down and padded the seat next to her. Jacob sat down next to the Slayer and closed his eyes. The day had been filled with so much activity that he was having a hard time dealing with all of it. As the train continued on it's way, Buffy gently laced the fingers of her right hand through the fingers of Jacob's left hand, silently trying to give him comfort in the only way she could.

I hope you enjoyed the update and I only have a couple points that I want to hit on before I go. First, I know this is a Willow/Tara based board and this story doesn't seem to be Willow/Tara based, but at the end I'm going to have a big Willow and Tara scene, so just stay tuned. Also, this fic was primarily a way to give Jacob enough scenes and story time for his character to really develop and I think I've done a good job in creating a character that people can like. Let me know if you agree. And lastly, I want to put a question out to you.

I'm going to list the characters I've created with this series and all I want you to do is say liked them or didn't like them. Simple enough, here we go.

Sonya Baxter.

Jacob the Daywalker.

Deacon.

Kell the Dark Son.

Any of the four Knights.

Reese Maxwell (I already have an idea, so be gentle).

Kolon - Deacon's second in command.

Let me know in your posts, hope you enjoyed the reading and see you tomorrow!!!!!!

Kudos!!!

Conclusion Update!!

Postby WilTaraFan » Mon Jun 17, 2002 9:53 pm

Safe! Safe! Safe! Safe! I guess that means the Conclusion's here. As promised, I finished End of Dayz late last night and now I'm posting it for your enjoyment.

A couple of notes. Some parts of the Conclusion may seem a little rushed, and I'm sorry about that. Later on down the road, I'll probably revise the ending and post it on my website, so keep checking my websit out.

Next up for me, the first episode of the Virtual Season 7 I'm doing. I'm still looking for writers. Since I'm doing twenty two eps, I'm going to need some people to help out. I already have two writers committed to this project. I'm doing eps one and two, that's the two part opener, and I'll need to writers to do eps three through nine because ten and eleven will be mine and they're going to be another two parter. Then, twelve through eighteen I'll need writers for, if any of you want to do more than one episode, that would be helpful. Then, I have a co-writer that's going to finishing the season up with the last three episodes. Much like you sometimes have Jane Espenson co-writing an episode with Marti Noxon, or whoever. Anyway, that's what's next on the agenda and I need some writers as fast as you think you can committ to it.

On with the conclusion.

Kudos!!!

The moving train slowed to a stop as Giles drove the van a few feet ahead. When Buffy had called them at the Magic Box, the Watcher had been relieved and overjoyed to hear her voice. He was even more relieved and joyed when he learned that Jacob was relatively fine as well and that they still had Amy away from the Dark Son. And as soon as the call had ended, they loaded the van and headed back out to the woods where she told them they'd be.

As he slowed the van to a stop, they all exited and waited for the train to come to a complete stop. Before the train completely stopped movement, however, they saw Buffy hopping out the car with Amy behind her. The two women hurried over.

"Buffy! Are we ever glad that you're alright!" Giles said, embracing the Slayer.

She smiled through her relief. "Yeah, we're fine."

A few moments later, they looked over and saw Jacob hitting the ground with the conductor of the train just behind him. Jacob turned to George. "Thank you for what you've done George." Jacob thanked him.

George clasped his hand. "Take care of yourself Jacob."

After a few more goodbyes, the train left the assembled group there. A few minutes after that, they turned the van around and headed back to Sunnydale, knowing the battle wasn't over yet, but knowing that within an hour, it would be, one way or another.

As they were driving away, about a mile back where the three cars of the train had collided, Kell threw a huge piece of the train's roof off his body and stood on his feet. His face was full of rage and hatred as he realized the alignment was already in place and he had less than ten minutes to kill Amy before it was too late and all his hard work would be for nothing.

He raised his eyes to the night sky and he screamed one word with an intensity that frightened the birds and animals in the forest around him. "Daywalker!!!"

Just minutes later, the group were back at the Magic Box, entering and keeping check over the time as they all waited impatiently for the midnight hour to ring so Kell's chances would pass by and he would no longer be a threat to the world. It was six minutes before the time was too late and Jacob was staying stock still in the center of the Magic Box. He knew Kell wasn't gone yet and he knew that he'd eventually get here before the six minutes were up.

"Are you sure he'll come?" Buffy asked, watching Jacob's intense face.

"He'll come." the Daywalker said, his whole body tensed and ready for the attack he was sure was to come.

Only moments passed since Jacob said those two words when the front door of the Magic Box suddenly flew inward and Kell was standing there, no longer with all the confidence, no longer with all his cockiness. He was angry, rage was filling his entire soul and he was here for one purpose, to open the Gates of all Hell dimensions. He didn't bother speaking. Rasing his right hand, he sent an energy wave at Amy, knocking the former witch into a wall. Then, he aimed his fingers at Giles, Dawn, and Thomas who were standing there the round table.

Kell twitched his fingers and the three of them were suddenly airborne, being thrown where the counter was and colliding into Tara, Willow, Xander, and Anya who were already there. Once that happened, the Dark Son created a blue tinted energy wave that acted as a force field to keep them from interfering. That left Jacob and Buffy to fight Kell and protect Amy from Kell's threat.

Realizing they were on their own, Buffy quickly ran to the back of the shop and opened a weapons chest and removed a sword before running back to where Jacob stood. Jacob was still standing motionless as he watched Kell. "We're not going to allow this to happen, Kell." Jacob spoke up.

Kell pulled his sword out. "You are not going to stop me. I should have just destroyed both of you in the beginning. Instead I wasted my time on you."

Kell advanced, striking his blade against Buffy's with a flurry of intensity that Buffy was impressed by and was able to match, strike for strike. Jacob stepped back and pulled his sword out from behind him. He waited until Kell was completely facing his back to Jacob, then the Daywalker moved. He attempted to drive his blade right into Kell's back, but the Dark Son had expected the move and he quickly moved his body around and caught the blade in his left hand. Grasping the metal, he yanked it from Jacob's hands and tossed it away from both of them. Turning back to the Slayer, Kell grabbed her by the neck and tossed her against the far wall. Buffy hit the wall and fell to the ground, grimacing and aware of her friends faces as they watched helplessly as this happened.

Amy was huddled in the corner, too frightened to know what to do. Turning to Jacob, Kell wasted no time with his sword, he raised his left hand up and sent a powerful wave of energy at him. The blast knocked the Daywalker down to the ground with enough force to put a dent in the wall. Kell sheated his sword and quickly walked over and grabbed Amy by her long hair. He walked over to the round table and with a swipe of his arm, knocked whatever was there off. He put her body on the table and chanted a quick chant to make her immobile.

The Dark Son reached with his left hand and slowly pulled a ceremonial dagger from his robe and held it out, the flatness of the blade facing Amy, not the point. He looked towards the ceiling. "Dekhleti, ruler of the darkness. Mephisto, lord of pain and misery, I the Dark Son of Dekhleti call upon you to open the Gates of Hell with this sacrifice. When her blood flows, open the Gates to all Hell dimensions and unleash your armies upon the Earth under my control!"

"Jacob, Buffy!" Willow called over, looking at the clock. "There's only two minutes left. You have to stop him!!"

Buffy nodded and rose form the floor, running straight towards the Dark Son. She had gotten right within his reach when he suddenly turned and hit her with a back hand, using her momentum to send her flying back against one of the other walls. He knew that would keep her down for longer than the two minutes. He smiled as he raised the dagger to embed it into Amy's chest, therefore completing the sacrifice. The dagger began moving downward.

A single bang interrupted the ceremony and with widened eyes, Kell found half of his dagger was blown straight off. Turning to see what happened, he saw Jacob on one knee, holding his shotgun in one hand, steam slowly rising off the barrel. "You can't sacrifice her without your dagger." Jacob hissed.

There was still enough of the blade left to kill the sacrifice, so Kell didn't answer. Instead, he just started lowering what was left of the dagger again. Another loud bang rang out and the remainder of the blade was blown out of Kell's hand. Snarling his lips, Kell spoke out. "I don't really need the knife to sacrifice her, she just has to die."

With that, Kell held his hands out over Amy's body, his palms facing her. Invisible waves of energy began touching her body and Amy's body convulsed, her screaming out. "M...my bll.....loooddd is on fire!" she yelled in pain.

Jacob realized within a moment what the Dark Son was doing and he reacted immediately. He dropped the shotgun and ran right at Kell. His body hit Kell's in a tackle that took them both to the ground and broke the Dark Son's concentration. The energy he was using on Amy was over and she began breathing deeply, the pain settling down to a dull ache.

Kell moved to his feet as Jacob was getting to his knees and he walked forward, kicking Jacob in the gut. Jacob's body skidded across the floor, his back hitting the wall behind him. Jacob gasped at the solid hit and Kell moved forward. He reached down and grabbed Jacob by the neck with his right hand and lifted him off the floor, Jacob's oxygen being constricted.

"You have messed my plans up for the last time." Kell roared as he threw Jacob's body to the other wall. After the Daywalker's body was on the ground again, Kell moved forward. "Why do you insist on protecting them? If they knew about you, a man that was half vampire, do you think they would welcome you to their society?"

Jacob got to one knee. He breathed deeply. "No, I know they wouldn't. Humans fear what they do not understand. But I made an oath when I accepted my destiny as the Daywalker. No matter how they feel about me or how I feel about them, I vowed to protect them and this world from the forces of darkness and if it means my death to do that, then so be it."

Jacob's eyes glanced over Kell's shoulder to where the clock was. Less than a minute was left. Kell turned to the round table to see that it was empty. He turned quickly around and saw Buffy standing in front of Amy, an axe in her hand. His eyes widened in shock. He knew he could get past Buffy, but he knew it would take longer than one minute and then, it would be too late. With a snarl, he turned and shoved his palms against Jacob's chest, sending hot tendrils of firepower into the Daywalker's overworked body. "Since my destiny has been delayed, I won't leave this planet until you're gone!"

Jacob's face registered the pain he was experiencing as the power surged through his body, making him forget about everything else except for the pain he was in. His thoughts of the possible future with Buffy were gone as were the memories of his quest. All he could feel and think about was the process that Kell was doing to him. It was the same one he'd tried on Amy moments ego.

Buffy was already moving forward when she heard Jacob's cry of pain and she lifted her axe, ready to impale it into Kell's back. She had gotten halfway when a dark red vortex suddenly opened out of nowhere and powerful winds blew her right back. When the red vortex opened, all of the supernatural powers that Kell possessed fled his body and Jacob's body hit the ground with a solid thud, his eyes closed. Kell screamed out in outrage as the force field holding the others behind the counter evaporated into nothing.

"What's happening?" Giles whispered to Thomas, watching.

"Kell's mission on Earth has failed. The Dark Forces cannot allow a demon of his supernatural power to remain here. So, they're taking him back." Thomas answered.

"Will....will he ever be able to return?" Tara asked, concerned.

Thomas nodded. "In another hundred years, the Eye of Bane will reappear. When that happens, it will be another twenty three years before Kell can re-enter Earth and by then, there will be another Daywalker and another Slayer to stop him."

Demonic looking claws began exuding from the vortex and grabbing various parts of Kell. Some grabbed his shoulders, arms, and hands, while others grabbed his neck his thighs and legs and began pulling him back into the vortex that he originally came from. Kell was being pulled back in from his position on the ground, crawling desperately to stay away from them. The Dark Son yelled out as his feet started to re-enter the vortex. More of his body was pulled in. Long moments passed before his body was completely inside the vortex, him screaming out in outrage at the failure of his plan. The vortex slowly closed, leaving it all in silence.

It was a moment after it all ended when Bufy looked over and saw Jacob's body lying on his back, not moving. She ran over to him without even being aware of doing it. She pulled his shoulders over her thighs. "Jacob! You're not leaving me yet! You hear me, we still have a lot to talk about so don't you even think about dying." she warned him, her voice raising. Her open hands were hitting him in the chest and shoulders.

For a few moments, nothing happened, then his eyes began fluttering open, his body moving as he took deep breaths to calm his rapidly beating heart. "Ow." he said, "Buffy, I know I'm a strong guy, but that still hurts." he mock joked at her.

She smiled in relief when she saw and felt him start to move up, sitting up. He turned and looked at all of them. "Did we do it?" he asked after a moment.

Giles clasped his shoulder. "Yes you did Jacob."

"Me?" Jacob asked, breathing deeply.

"Oh yeah, it was you my man." Xander said to him.

"You saved us all." Willow said, smiling. "Usually it's Buffy here that does it, but it's nice to have someone else be the hero for once."

Buffy smiled at that. "I'm just glad that you're okay."

Jacob glanced at her. "Well, we do still have a lot to talk about, right?"

Buffy chuckled, hearing the words thrown back at her. "Right."

With multiple sighs, they helped the Daywalker get back to his feet. And another apocalypse was averted through the teamwork of many and the courage of a Daywalker.

Epilogue....

(Two weeks later )

"Buffy, I look ridiculous!" Jacob sighed as he stood in front of Buffy. The two prophesized ones were at the Summers House. It had now been two weeks since Kell the Dark Son had been defeated and his goal to open the Gates of Hell had been averted. Since then, Buffy and Jacob had started talking more and hanging out with each other a lot more.

And they were at the Summers House because Buffy was pretty sick and tired of seeing Jacob wearing just his fighting gear and she wanted to see him wearing more comfortable clothing. "You look fine." Buffy assured him.

Buffy looked at the man that was rapidly beginning to mean more and more to her. The two of them were well on their way to becoming involved and she couldn't be happier by the prospect. He, on the other hand, was still slightly nervous about it because of his quest. At thinking about the quest, she frowned. She knew he needed to know what she believed and she didn't want their relationship to shrouded with secrets because the Slayer knew that secrets had almost ruined what Willow and Tara had. She was thankful their love was still strong. Looking at him, Buffy conceded that Jacob did look somewhat silly. The Daywalker was wearing one of Xander's Hawaiian button up shirts with a pair of blue shorts.

Why Buffy had let Xander give him some clothes was beyond both of them, especially considering Xander's choice in clothing. Buffy took a deep breath as she stood from dining room table where they were at. "Alright, it does look a little silly, but sometimes silly is good."

"Maybe if the person saying it is someone you have feelings for." Jacob muttered.

"What was that?" Buffy asked, having heard him clearly.

"You heard me, smart ass." Jacob smiled at her.

Seeing his smile helped her be reassured about what she had to tell him. She grabbed his larger right hand in both of hers and gave it a squeeze. "Jacob, there are some things about me you need to know."

"Is this about Angel?" Jacob asked, already having knowledge about the vampire with a soul. In fact, Jacob was privately wondering if he should tell her about his run in with Angel when he was in LA. He decided not to.

Buffy shook her head. "No, this is about a vampire. A vampire named Spike."

She felt his arm tense up at hearing the words and she wondered what that was about. She shook the thought off. "Spike." Jacob said.

"Yes." Buffy replied, hearing his voice laced with venom.

"Alright." Jacob settled in his seat to hear some of what he already knew.

And she told him about her history with Spike, otherwise known as William the Bloody. She told him about Spike's obsession with her, the shrine he'd made, about the Buffybot, then about the affair that lasted for months and finally about the attempted sexual assault that she'd stopped. After she explained all that, she said the most important words he knew he would ever hear. "Jacob, Spike has killed two Slayers in his life. He's English and he has blonde hair. I think he may be your mother's attacker."

Jacob's face didn't even twitch, he just stared ahead for several long moments. She did notice tears building in his eyes, but he didn't let them drop. "I see." he murmured. And the cold intensity at which he said those two words scared even Buffy and it took a hell of a lot to scare her. She was suddenly scared for Spike should he ever show his face.

---**---

Tara Maclay sat in her Science class, listening to the professor explained the day's lesson and she was jotting down as much notes from his lecture as she could. She'd already filled two pages full of notes and she was almost out of room for her third page. She also knew that all this was going to be on the exam that was coming up pretty soon.

"Alright, don't forget about the paper that's due on Friday, people." the professor said. "Get out of here."

With class over, Tara put her things back in her bag and headed out of the class. She felt a familiar presence before she saw her and smiled when Willow was there as she left the classroom. "Hey." Tara said, putting her arm around Willow's waist.

Willow gave her a kiss on the lips. "Hey baby."

"How long have you been standing here?" Tara asked her fiancée.

"Just about fifteen minutes." Willow replied.

Tara and Willow began walking down the hall. Tara was dressed in a white blouse with lacy material and a pair of black jeans. She had her hair hanging loose as she moved down the hallway. Her fiancée was wearing her red Chippewa Bay shirt and a pair of blue jeans. Both women looked relaxed and very happy as they walked outside of the Science building. There was a bench nearby and they both quickly walked over to it and sat down.

Xander and Anya were supposed to be picking them up at the college for an early dinner at Antonio's, a new Italian restaurant that just opened up. They were going to pick the witches up at exactly three o'clock and as they saw the time, Tara and Willow both knew they still had a good thirty minutes before the two of them would get there. Tara turned to her lover noticed the relaxed lines around her face. "How are you feeling?" Tara asked. Her concern about their first child together was evident.

Willow turned to her and grabbed the blonde's hand. "I'm good Tara. In fact, I'm very good."

"I'm glad." Tara replied. "Hey listen..."

"Yeah?"

"I've been thinking....we've been doing a lot of planning on our wedding and everything, but when are we actually going to have it. I mean, do you have any ideas of when we should have it?" Tara asked.

Willow leaned back on the bench. "Sure, I was doing a little thinking about that lately. We could always have it this Christmas. You know, some time in December."

Tara looked at her, squeezing the redhead's hand. "Yeah, around Christmas time. That sounds like a wonderful time."

Willow leaned forward and gave her a kiss. "Yes, a wonderful time."

Tara leaned back with a satisfied sigh. She loved it when Willow kissed her, but seeing Willow's efforts in public were doing wonderful things to her insides. The past two weeks were good for the witches. They had gotten a lot done with their wedding planning. The only things that they had yet to do was have the location and the time of the wedding. They had just decided when the wedding was going to take place, all they had to do now was find a good place for it.

Willow widened her eyes as she forgot something. "Oh! Um, this came in the mail this morning. We had already left, but Buffy tracked me down and gave it to me. It's addressed to you."

Tara took the envelope. "Will, you can open my mail if you want."

"Tara, that's like an invasion of privacy. I wouldn't have felt right about it."

The blonde nodded as she opened the envelope and took out the small piece of paper that was inside. Unfolding it, she felt Willow scoot so close that their entire body's were touching and the redhead put her arm around her shoulders and Willow leaned her chin on Tara's shoulder. Tara began to read the letter aloud.

My Dearest Tara,

I understand that there is much bad blood between us right now. I also understand that I am the reason for most of it. But I want to make amends for the mistakes I have made against you. You are my daughter and I do love you. In fact, I love you very much. I hope this letter finds you and finds you well.

I am writing this letter to you for two different reasons. Number one, I am letting you know that I will soon be in Sunnydale to visit you and I hope we can have a chance to speak. I do want to make up for what I've put you through. I only hope you can give me that chance. The second reason is that I'm afraid I may not.....well, this is not the way I wanted to tell you, but...Tara, I don't have much time left. I can't go into details now, but when I am in Sunnydale, I will explain everything to you.

I hope you will allow me to see you because I want to see you. Very mucy.

With the Warmest Regards,

Richard Maclay, Your Father.

As Tara's voice slowly faded away at the last word, the letter was no longer in Tara's hands as they were shaking slightly at reading a letter sent to her from her father. Willow had taken ahold of the letter and read the contents again. "Tara?"

The blonde looked at her.

"You okay?" Willow asked.

Tara swallowed. "My father....my father coming here......he's really coming here?"

Willow rubbed her hand up and down Tara's side. "I guess so. Are you okay with that?"

"I think so. It's just....the last time I saw him.....you know was when you guys stood up for me." Tara said.

"I know."

Tara remained silent as Xander and Anya finally did arrive. The redhead and the blonde got in the car and the four of them left the college. Tara was quiet during the ride and Willow privately conceded that she'd have to wait until they were in the safety of their room before she could talk to her lover about the letter. She knew the letter had rocked Tara and she wanted to ease her lover's nerves. Willow was determined to do it and soon because she wouldn't have Tara upset for any lengthy amount of time.

The End.
