Part 9

It had started to rain not long after Tara left. Willow sat alone in her room, staring out of the window. It seemed like she’d been sitting there for hours, just watching the rain fall outside. Every couple of seconds, raindrops would hit the window and slide down out of view.

Just like Tara….

She hit the window, walked into Willow’s life, slid down and stayed for a while, then disappeared out of view, and now she was gone. Willow stared blankly ahead, unable to move, or speak, or even think. Tara was gone. What if she never saw her again? What if for some reason, Tara didn’t want to see her? Questions like this buzzed through Willow’s brain and she desperately wanted answers to them, but couldn’t find any. She missed Tara. The other girl had only been gone a couple of hours and already Willow was going crazy without her. She missed Tara’s smile, her stutter, the way she had the ability to warm Willow’s heart with one look. Her touch, her eyes, oh god her eyes. The redhead closed her own and remembered. Tara’s eyes were so blue. Piercing. Magical. They made you want to look into them forever. The rest of the world disappears and all you can see is blue. She missed her eyes most of all. The way they lit up when she smiled and made you feel special. They were like windows to her soul; Willow could tell if she was smiling on the inside as well as the outside, or if her smiles were just a front. She could tell that Tara was a kind, caring person and would never dream about hurting anyone or anything.

How can a monster like that man be the father of such an innocent soul….

Willow sighed and opened her eyes. A single tear falling down her cheek, just like the raindrops on her window. She felt as if part of her had been torn away. Ripped from her and she couldn’t do anything about it. That’s exactly how she felt. That’s what had happened. As soon as she saw the other girl on the football pitch, Tara became part of her. Her smile, her eyes, her cute little ears that stuck out ever so slightly from the sides of her head. Willow smiled. Everything that was Tara had become a part of her.

I cannot help it

I couldn’t stop it if I tried

The same old heartbeat fills the

Emptiness I have inside

And I’ve heard that you can’t fight love,

So I won’t complain

Cause why would I stop the fire that

Keeps me going on.

At first, she had tried to stop feeling like this about the blonde. Tired to put it at the back of her mind, but then something would remind her of Tara and the feelings would come back tenfold.

Cause when there’s you, I feel whole

And there’s no better feeling in the world

But without you I’m alone

And I’d rather be in love with you

It was as if being around Tara, just being around her, made Willow feel complete. The emptiness she’d felt all her life, was gone.

Turn out the lights now

To see is to believe

I just want you near me

I just want you here with me

And I’d give up everything for you

It’s the least that I could do

Cause when there’s you, I feel whole

And there’s no better feeling in the world

But without you I’m alone

And I’d rather be in love with you

She wanted to be with Tara so much. Right now. Willow knew that if Tara were just near her, she wouldn’t be miserable anymore.

And I feel you holding me

Why are we afraid to be in love?

To be loved

I can’t explain it

I know it’s tough to be loved

And I feel you holding me

There were just so many obstacles in the way.

Even if we got together…. Too many things would get in our way…. Things we might not be able to overcome. God, listen to me! I don’t even know if Tara’s like…. that. I’m not even 100% sure I’m like that.

Oh, oh

And when there’s you, I feel whole

And there’s no better feeling in the world

But without you I’m alone

And I’d rather be in love

Yes, I’d rather be in love

Oh, I’d rather be in love with you

And I feel you holding me, oh

Willow rubbed her eyes. She was so confused. The redhead was vaguely aware of someone knocking on her front door, but she didn’t move. Didn’t want to. Whoever it was continued knocking until she heard the front door open. Footsteps creaked on the stairs until the person was outside her room.

Faith: Hey.

Willow was silent.

Faith: Will?

Faith walked into Willow’s room and sat down on the bed across from the redhead. Willow didn’t even acknowledge her.

Faith: Willow?

She leaned forward and placed a hand on Willow knee. The redhead jumped about five feet in the air and gasped.

Willow: Jesus Faith!

Faith: Sorry, sorry.

Willow shook her head.

Willow: No. My fault. I was miles away.

Faith: Somewhere sunny I hope.

Willow: No, it was pretty miserable.

Faith: Ah, not far enough then.

Willow sighed and turned fully towards her friend. She smiled.

Willow: How goes the life of Faith?

Faith: You know, the usual. Beat up a guy who tried to back me up into an alley and do naughty, evil things to me.

Willow giggled.

Willow: You wouldn’t have done that if it were a hot momma who’d tried to back you into an alley and do naughty, evil things to you.

Faith: True.

They shared a moment smiling at each other. She and Faith had been best friends since they had first met. Willow considered herself lucky. Faith was such an easy person to talk to. Carefree. She dealt with her own problems as well as helping Willow and Oz deal with theirs, and was always around to listen. She took things as they came. If life planned on throwing something unexpected at her, she’d wait until it smacked her in the face and then she’d deal with it.

Faith: So, where’s Tara?

Willow’s smile instantly faded at the mention of Tara.

Willow: She um, she left.

Faith: What?

Willow: She’s gone.

Faith: What do you mean, “she’s gone”?

Willow: I mean she went home.

Faith: Oh.

Faith frowned. Something was bothering her friend.

Faith: What’s wrong? It’s not like you won’t see her again.

Willow: I probably won’t.

Faith: Huh?

Willow: Her dad never lets her out of the house.

Willow’s voice quivered.

Willow: He hit her if she leaves; he hits her if she doesn’t.

Faith: Are you serious?

Willow nodded slowly.

Faith: He beats her and you let her go back home?

Willow: There wasn’t a lot I could do to stop her! What was I supposed to do, Faith? Lock the doors and chain her up in my basement!

Faith’s eyes widened, shocked Willow’s voice had become so filled with anger. Tears began to form in Willow eyes as she apologized to her friend.

Willow: I’m sorry…. It’s just…. I couldn’t do anything to stop her. She…. She thinks it’s her fault. He beats her and she blames herself.

Faith: I’ve been through this, Will. I know what it’s like. To blame yourself…. Constantly think you’ve done something wrong, because your parents wouldn’t possibly hit you otherwise. You remember what it was like for me….

Willow: That why I’m terrified of her turning up on my doorstep again, half beaten to death.

The redhead sighed and tears began to fall.

Willow: I’ve been sitting here since she left…. Just thinking…. How could I let her leave…?

Faith: You said it yourself; there was nothing you could do to stop her.

Willow: But…. I should have said something…. Tried to make her see….

Faith licked her lips and looked at Willow. She could see how much this was hurting her.

Faith: There was nothing you could have said. I mean, you could have said something, but she wouldn’t have listened. You get lost in denial…. Refuse to believe that your parents would do something like this to you unless you deserve it. You remember how I was, Will. You did everything you could to try and convince me that it wasn’t my fault…. But did I listen? No. Because I couldn’t believe it, for some reason I wouldn’t let myself. I had to realise it myself and that’s what Tara has to do.

Willow: I just feel so helpless….

Faith: Come here.

Willow’s bottom lip began to tremble as she walked to Faith and into the other girl’s arms. The brunette pulled Willow onto her lap and held her there as she cried. A few minutes passes before the redhead spoke again.

Willow: I can’t stand the thought of anything happening to her.

She sighed.

Willow: I know I haven’t known her that long…. But…. I-I-

Faith: I know.

Out of the blue, Willow began to smile.

Willow: You know…. While she was here…. I almost kissed her.

Faith chuckled.

Faith: You did?

Willow: A couple of times. If something hadn’t interrupted us…. I probably would have. But….

Faith: But what?

Willow: I don’t know…. I’m confused.

Faith: Happens to the best of us, Will.

She lifted her head to look at Faith. The brunette smiled as it hit her for the first time. Willow was in love with Tara. Maybe the redhead didn’t quite see it yet, even if she had tried to kiss her, but seeing the look on Willow’s face as they were talking about it, Faith could tell. The redhead’s smile faded and her mood became sombre.

Willow: I’m scared of losing her, Faith. I don’t know what to do….

Faith: Isn’t it obvious? You tell her how you feel.

Willow: I-I can’t….

Faith: What’s the worst that could happen?

Willow: She thinks I’m disgusting and never wants to talk to me again.

Faith: Will…. When you almost kissed her those times…. Did she once try to stop you?

Willow thought about it. Tara hadn’t tried to stop her.

Willow: No…. she-she didn’t.

The brunette smiled and playfully pushed Willow off her knee and she landed on the floor.

Willow: Hey!

Faith: Go get her.

Willow tilted her head to look at Faith. Her smile had turned into a huge grin and the redhead got to her feet and bolted out the door.

*waves hello to all the wonderful kittens* Hello all! :D Here's the next part of my fic. Took me a while to get it all down, but i did it! Hope you like;)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 10

She’d forgotten to put her coat on. Her tank top and trousers were soaked. It was freezing out, but she didn’t notice. Her hair clung to her face and the rain slid down her arms. Oblivious to the cold, Willow continued walking. Tara had mentioned where she lived while she had been at Willow’s and it was a good job the redhead hadn’t been lost in the blonde’s eyes or hypnotized by her smile at the time, otherwise she wouldn’t have a clue where she was going. Not that it would matter anyway. Willow would knock on every door in the state if she had to.

The rain began to fall even heavier, but still the drenched girl walked on. Thoughts of what she was going to say to Tara, speeding through her mind.

Hi Tara, Hey Tara, howdy…. Ugh. Hey, listen, I’ve been thinking about you and, well, I really like you.

She groaned in frustration.

What am I, like 10? Okay…. Tara, I know this might sound weird but I think I’m…. I think I might be….

Another groan.

I should just turn back and go home right now. I’m only going to humiliate myself. I’m going home.

Willow sighed.

So why am I still walking towards Tara’s house?

The answer was simple really. Deep down, she was listening to her hear and not her head. She missed Tara so much, she had to see her. Even if it was only for a second.

By the time she had reached Tara’s house she was soaked to the bone. Her jeans and top clung to her skin, but she hardly noticed. Making her way up Tara’s driveway, she wondered if the girl’s father would be in. Willow decided she wouldn’t risk it and moved around the side of the house. A balcony was situated under a window of someone’s room. Candlelight was visible and Willow smiled.

That must be Tara’s room.

She grabbed hold of the railings on the side of the balcony and carefully began to climb to the top. A feeling of dread surged through her body as she had a thought.

What if she doesn’t want to see me? What if she went home because she wanted to get away from me?

It was too late to turn back now, anyway. She was already here. So, she pushed all the negative thoughts to the back of her mind and jumped over the top of the balcony. Taking a shaky breath, Willow began to move towards the window. Slowly, a figure became visible. Tara was sitting on her bed writing in, what appeared to be, her diary. Willow’s breath caught in her throat as she noticed how beautiful the blonde looked at the moment. The candlelight danced across her features in a seemingly magical way and flicked across her hair, making it lighter in places. Her eyes were focused on the book in front of her and she was frowning for some reason. The redhead smiled. Never before had she seen such a cute frown. Shaking herself from her thoughts, she took the final step and lightly tapped the window. Tara’s head shot up and a huge smile broke out on her face as she saw Willow. She put her diary down and made her way to the window, opening it.

Tara: Willow! What are you doing here? It’s raining.

The redhead looked up at the sky.

Willow: Yeah. It is.

Tara: You have to go.

Willow smile faded and Tara shook her head.

Tara: I-it’s not that I d-don’t want you here…. My d-dad’s home…. Do you h-have any idea w-w-what he’ll do to you if he f-finds you here?

Willow: I don’t care. I…. I had to see you.

Tara: Y-you did?

Willow: Would I have just walked all the way over here in the pouring rain if I didn’t? I was going crazy sitting in my room…. Thinking about you.

Tara lowered her head, smiling shyly and letting her hair cover her face. The redhead leaned forward on the windowsill and reached out towards Tara, tucking the blonde locks behind her ear.

Willow: Hey…. I came to see you.

She smiled at Tara to let her know she was kidding and got a smile in return. Her wet hand lingered on the side of the blonde’s face until she realised and pulled it away.

Willow: Sorry.

Tara: D-don’t be.

Covering her hand with the bottom of her top, Willow reached towards Tara again.

Willow: I got your face all wet.

She brushed the wet streaks off Tara’s face and placed her hand on the windowsill.

Tara: I-I’m glad you came.

Willow: Yeah?

Tara: Yeah.

She didn’t leave to get away from me! Yes!

Willow: Well, I’m glad I came too. You know…. I missed you.

Tara chuckled.

Tara: I-I only left a couple of hours ago.

Willow: And since then, I’ve been sitting in my room, miserable because you weren’t there.

The blonde smiled shyly again.

Tara: Willow….

Willow: Tara, I need to tell you something…. And it might sound weird because we’ve only just met, but…. I think I’m-

A loud banging cut her off. The colour drained from Tara’s face and she froze.

Tara: My d-dad’s home. You-you have to go.

Willow: But-

Mr Maclay: Tara!

Tara: Please, Willow.

The pleading look on Tara face convinced her and she nodding. The redhead smiled, having an idea, and took hold of Tara’s hand. Keeping her eyes locked with the blonde’s, she lifted Tara hand to her mouth and kissed it lightly.

Willow: It was a pleasure.

The last thing she saw was Tara’s breathtaking smile, before she turned and began climbing down the balcony.

Tara closed her window and leapt back onto her bed, picking up a stray magazine and beginning to read it. That’s when the banging started.

Willow stuffed her hands deep inside her pockets and continued to walk away from Tara's house. She could feel the rain and the cold now.

It’s freezing.

She sighed.

I need a car.

Looking towards the sky, she closed her eyes and let the raindrops fall onto her face.

Or an umbrella.

Tara stood up, her magazine long forgotten. The banging on the door continued until it flew open with such force, it almost ripped clean off its hinges. She shrank back into her room as Mr Maclay stepped forward.

Mr Maclay: Why didn’t you open the door, Tara?

His words were slurred, he’d been drinking again, and his voice held a certain tone of disbelief. Tara frowned and closed her eyes, hoping this was all a dream and that any second now she’d wake up in Willow’s arms.

Mr Maclay: I just want to talk to you.

It was too much. She knew he was lying, he always did. She opened her eyes and tears spilled down her cheeks. Mr Maclay grew angrier as he saw them.

Mr Maclay: Tears might work on other people, Tara, but they won’t work on me.

Willow stopped in the middle of the road and asked herself what she was doing. A voice in the back of her head surfaced and at first, she didn’t know who’s voice it was.

Don’t be stupid, Will. You let her go once; do you really want to make that mistake twice in one day? You love her. I can see it, hell; a blind person could see it. Now make the neighbours to the neighbours from hell and move!

And she was off. Running as fast as she could, back towards Tara’s house. Half way there, she realised it had been Faith’s voice in her head and she silently thanked the other girl.

Stopping at the bottom of the balcony beneath Tara’s window, she looked up and smiled.

I love her.

It finally began to sink in and her smile grew wider. Grinning like an idiot, she began climbing up the side of the balcony, careful not to slip. The redhead swung herself over the top and landed on the ground, splashing water all over herself in the process.

I love her!!

She pushed herself off the side and walked towards Tara’s window, stopping when she could finally see inside the room. The lights had been turned on and Willow beamed as her eyes rested on the blonde. She was about to knock on the window when someone else came into view. A man, around the same as her father, was walking very slowly towards Tara. He started to yell at her and she broke down into tears again. Anger flashed over Willow’s face as she realised who the man was and what he was about to do. Tara backed up against the wall and sank to the floor. He continued yelling, the shouts only just audible over the sound of the rain

Mr Maclay: You’re just like your mother! Worthless! Stupid! Ugly! And down right disobedient. I had to teach her a lesson and now it’s your turn.

He raised his hand high in the air and Tara closed her eyes. Without thinking, a fuming Willow backed up against the railing of the balcony and took a deep breath, before running rapidly towards the window. The glass broke as she sailed through it, cutting her arms and face, but she didn’t feel a thing. Her body was num with anger and hatred for the man in front of her. She pushed him away from Tara and he crashed through the table at the far side of the room, before hitting the wall and landing in a heap on the floor with the livid redhead on top of him. Mr Maclay was in total shock when Willow began throwing punches. Once in the face, twice, a third time and…. He caught the girl’s fist inches from his face. She swallowed hard and turned to Tara.

Willow: Get out of here!

Tara: I’m n-not leaving you!

Willow: Tara, go! Somewhere safe! Go!

She bit her bottom lip, got to her feet and fled from the room, just as Mr Maclay threw Willow off him. She hit her head on the side of the bed as she went down, opening another cut on the side of her face.

Mr Maclay: Bitch! Who do you think you are!

He punched Willow in the face and sent a hard kick to her stomach. She coughed and looked up at him, spitting blood out of her mouth.

Willow: Your worst nightmare.

Pushing herself off the bed, she lunged at him, throwing him into the closet and breaking the doors to pieces. Shocked, it took her a second to collect herself. She knew she was strong, but this strong? She didn’t have time to think about it, Mr Maclay was on his feet and looking irritated.

Mr Maclay: She couldn’t obey the rules and neither can you! You’re just the same as that worthless slut!

Willow snapped. He could say anything he wanted about her, but he wasn’t going to get away with talking about Tara like that. She lashed out, kicking his legs out from under him and knocking him to the floor. Her once sparkling green eyes had grown dark and an uncontrollable fire raged inside the. She made her way over to him and delivered punch after punch to his face.

Willow: You’re sick! You beat up your own daughter every night, and for what? So you can feel in control of the life you lost when you first raised a hand to her!

A loud click signalled his nose braking, but still he tried to fight back.

Willow: I’m not so easy to push around! You don’t deserve to have Tara in your life! She’s kind, perfect in every way…. And you’re just a sick, twisted old man, who should be locked away!

She let her guard down for the slightest of seconds, but it was long enough. Mr Maclay brought his legs up and kicked Willow off him. She flew across the room, hit the wall and landed on the floor. He got to his feet and wiped the blood from his nose, walking towards the badly beaten redhead.

Mr Maclay: The only person in this house right now that should be locked away, is you.

He stepped closer.

Mr Maclay: Pervert my daughter’s mind….

Another step.

Mr Maclay: You break into my home….

And another.

Mr Maclay: And assault me…

Willow looked up as his shadow loomed over her.

Mr Maclay: You need to be taught a lesson.

Before he had chance to do anything, Willow ripped the table lamp out of it’s socket and smashed it over the older man’s head. He hit the floor, unconscious. Willow sat for a moment, catching her breath. The room was a mess and so was she. She got to her feet and looked down at Mr Maclay, disgusted.

Willow: School’s out.

The redhead wiped the blood from her forehead and walked out of the room.

Final Part C

Postby Ginner WTluv » Tue Jul 09, 2002 5:28 pm

Okay.... here it is.... the final part. ....well, not really, cuz there's an ickle bitty part i wanna post after this, so i'll do that when i actually have it written. Anywhoo, i hope you guys like this:D

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 11

As Willow walked home, the rain finally began to ease off. A number of cuts covered her face and arms, most caused by the shattered glass of the window, and she was beginning to feel the pain. Surprisingly, her mind was not on the man she had just rendered unconscious, but on his daughter. She hoped to god Tara was safe. Willow might not have completely realised it before, but Tara meant the world to her. She wouldn’t have been able to live with herself if anything had happened to the blonde. So when she had seen Mr Maclay raise his hand, ready to hit his daughter, there was no question of whether she was going to help her or not. Even if there were a chance she’d be hurt or killed, Willow would still have risked her life to save Tara. And she’d do it again.

Blood trickled down her face, coming from a gash as the side of her head. She wiped the blood away with the back of her hand and looked down at it. She sighed and continued walking. Her head was banging. A throbbing headache raged inside.

That’s the last time I hit my head on the end of someone’s bed.

She was still in shock from the turn of events that night. It had started out with her going to tell Tara how she felt and ended with Willow engaging in a fist fight with the girl’s father, and Tara being none the wiser about the redhead’s feelings towards her. Willow shook her head. It had been one hell of a day and it wasn’t over yet. She turned the corner and headed down the street she lived on. It was still raining, she was still soaked, and she was miserable again. At least if she had been able to tell Tara how she felt, the weight on her shoulders might have been lifted a bit. There was a slim to none chance that Tara would feel the same, but at least Willow would have gotten it off her chest and would no longer spend hours thinking about how she’d tell the blonde. Alas, Fate, or more precisely Mr Maclay, chose to step in the way and all plans of telling Tara flew through the window when she did.

Maybe it’s better this way. Maybe it’s better Tara not knowing. If she found out, she’d probably never want to speak to me again and my worst fear would become real. I’d lose her forever. Yeah. Maybe it’s better like this.

Willow strode up her driveway and fought back the tears as she opened the front door.

I wonder if Faith’s still here….

She pushed the door closed and walked into the living room. Sure enough, Faith was there, glancing nervously back and forth between the clock and…. Willow’s mouth fell open.

Willow: Tara?

The blonde’s head shot up and Willow took in her tear-streaked face.

I should go back and kill him for what he’s done….

Faith rushed forward and wrapped Willow up in a bone-crushing hug.

Willow: Ow, ow…. Faith, a little battered and bruised here.

Faith: Sorry, I just….

She pulled back to look at the redhead, on the verge of tears herself.

Faith: God, I was so worried.

Tara: W-we both were.

Looking over Faith’s shoulder, Willow observed the blonde. She didn’t look too hurt, no cuts or bruises to be accounted for. She moved past Faith and knelt down in front of Tara. Their eyes met and she began to speak softly to the blonde.

Willow: Are you okay?

Tara nodded.

Willow: Are you sure?

Tara: You g-got there before h-he could….

The blonde swallowed hard and Willow could see the tears threatening to spill out. She placed her hands over Tara’s on the other girl’s lap and smiled.

Willow: It’s okay now. He won’t do anything like that to you again. Not as long as I’m around/

Faith’s eyes narrowed as she watched the two girls.

How can they not see it? I could be standing here with my eyes closed and I’d still see it!

A loud banging turned their heads. Willow glanced at a terrified Tara before looking up at Faith.

Willow: If you don’t know them, don’t let them in.

She nodded and moved out into the hallway. Willow and Tara stayed where they were, looking at each other.

Willow: Why did you come here?

Tara: You t-told me to go s-somewhere I th-thought was safe….

Willow: Oh.

Tara: Do you w-w-want me to go?

Willow: No! God no. That’s not what I meant. I just…. You could have gone to um, B-Buffy’s or Xander’s…. but you came here.

Tara: Well, th-this is your h-home…. And y-you make me feel s-safe.

Willow beamed. It wasn’t ever day she got a comment like that and what made it extra special, was that Tara had said it. Somewhat shyly, Willow took hold of the blonde’s hand and entwined their fingers. She lifted her gaze and locked eyes with Tara.

Willow: I’m glad.

Tara: Me too.

Sounds of commotion began coming from the hallway and both girls stood up. Tara looked as if she was going to throw up she was that scared. Willow protectively stood in front of the blonde, and her eyes narrowed dangerously.

Willow: I’m not gonna let him touch you, just stay behind me.

Tara shrank back behind Willow as someone walked into the room and the redhead sighed.

Willow: Faith, what are you doing?

Faith walked into the living room, carrying someone over her shoulder.

Faith: Well, you said if I didn’t know them, not to let them in and I don’t really know her, so I thought I’d carry her in.

Grinning coyly, Faith let the girl down and she spun around to face them.

Tara: Buffy?

Buffy: Hey.

She turned back to Faith who was still grinning.

Buffy: You know, you’re not funny.

Faith: I beg to differ.

Buffy: Oh, you’ll be begging alright.

The brunette arched an eyebrow and Buffy rolled her eyes, looking back towards Tara.

Buffy: I came to see how you were doing.

Tara was silent. A concerned look clouded Buffy’s face and she stepped towards Tara. She could tell something was wrong.

Buffy: What’s happened?

She spent the next hour listening to Willow and Tara tell her what had happened. By the end, Buffy was as fuming as Willow had been.

Buffy: Have you called the police?

Willow: Haven’t really had time to, what with beating the crap out of her father and everything.

Tara was so busy looking at Willow, she’d missed most of the conversation. She couldn’t believe Willow had done that for her. The redhead had risked her life, so to speak, to help her. No one had ever done that for her before.

Tara: You…. You did all th-that for me?

Willow: Why wouldn’t I?

Willow swivelled around in her seat to face Tara, while Faith slipped out into the kitchen, dragging Buffy with her.

Buffy: What are you doing?

Faith: They’ve got stuff they need to talk about.

Faith hopped up onto one of the cupboards and sat down.

Faith: Let’s give them some time, okay?

The blonde nodded and turned her head in the direction of the living room.

Buffy: Are they…. Together?

Faith: Not yet.

Back in the living room, Willow and Tara were talking.

Tara: You sh-shouldn’t have-

Willow: Come back? Saved you? Tara, If I hadn’t, he was just going to carry on and get away with it.

Tara: B-but now you’re hurt.

Tara lifted her hand and gently brushed her fingers across a cut on Willow’s forehead and the redhead’s eyes locked with Tara’s again.

Willow: This is nothing compared to the pain I’d feel if I lost you.

Tara dropped her head shyly, and let her hand fall back to her lap. Willow frowned afraid she had said something wrong and reached out towards Tara.

Willow: Hey….

She tucked the blonde locks behind Tara’s ear and lifted the other girl’s chin with her finger.

Willow: Are you okay?

Tara nodded slowly, slightly flustered by Willow’s touch.

Tara: W-why do you l-like me?

Willow: What?

The question took Willow by surprise and she frowned and shook her head, smiling.

Willow: I can’t not like you, Tara. You’re an amazing person. Look at what you’ve been through. The fact that you’ve lived through it, that you’re here in front of me…. It shows everyone just how amazing you are.

Tara started to drop her head again, but found Willow’s hand stopping her.

Willow: Look at me….

Faith leapt off the counter and stood in front of Buffy.

Faith: You go to Sunnydale high?

The blonde frowned.

Buffy: You don’t?

Faith: No.

Buffy: Darwin?

Faith: Darwin.

Buffy: Your friend?

Faith: Darwin.

Both girls turned their heads towards the living room door.

Faith: We could have a problem.

Willow and Tara hadn’t moved from their position and the blonde was still reluctant to look at Willow.

Willow: Tara…. Please….

Slowly, Tara began to lift her gaze until her eyes met the redhead’s. Willow smiled.

Willow: Wasn’t so hard, was it?

Tara chuckled softly.

Tara: H-how do you d-do that?

Willow: Do what?

Tara: M-Make me feel special b-by just looking at me.

Willow: You don’t need me for that, Tara. You’re special all on your own.

Tara: I do.

Willow: What?

Tara: N-need you.

Tara’s eyes shifted between the bottom of her shirt and Willow’s face. The redhead wasn’t quiet sure what to make of Tara’s comment and tilted her head to look at her.

Why won’t she look at me?

Hesitantly, Willow took hold of Tara’s hand and entwined their fingers again, and the blonde finally looked at her. The electricity that passed between them whenever they came in contact with each other had practically jolted her head up itself.

Willow searched Tara’s eyes, hoping she’d find the meaning of Tara’s comment there, but she didn’t. For once, this wasn’t something she would be able to find in the blonde’s piercing blue eyes.

Willow: Tara…. I….

Willow fell into silence again, unable to find any words, unable to speak. Tara seemed to be having the same problem; her lips were parted but no sound came out. They seemed to be suspended in time, lost in the minutes passing them by.

Willow had abandoned all hope of trying to control her thoughts and her body, it seemed they both had minds of their own. A familiar heat began to rise within her, as Tara shifted closer. Powerless to break the gaze they held, Willow could do nothing but look at Tara. Taking in ever inch of her beauty. Her skin, her eyes, her ears, everything about her was beautiful. Without thinking, she brushed away a few stray strands of hair off Tara’s face, her other hand still holding the blonde’s. Her hand moved to Tara’s cheek and the other girl’s eyes fluttered closed. She didn’t have time to ask herself what she was doing, didn’t want to. Willow leaned forward, every so slowly, until she could feel Tara’s breath on her lips.

Tara: What…. What are you doing?

Willow: Kissing you.

Tara swallowed hard.

Tara: That’s what I thought.

Their lips met in a soft kiss. Hardly a kiss at all: more of a test. When Tara didn’t pull away, Willow deepened the kiss, her hand moving to the back of the blonde’s neck. Tara’s grip on Willow’s hand tightened, before she released it and moved her hand to the redhead’s side, pulling her closer. Gently, Willow pushed Tara down onto her back, her head resting on the arm of the couch, not breaking the kiss. As their passion grew, the kiss became even more intense. Tara’s hand roamed over Willow’s back, while her other was tangled in her fire-red hair. Meanwhile, Willow had managed to rest her body of Tara’s and was using her hands and arms to keep herself from falling on top of the blonde completely. Unfortunately, her arms were in serious danger of giving way and the redhead broke the kiss, much to Tara disappointment. Willow pulled back to look at the other girl, short of breath. Time escaped them for the second time that night as they looked at each other, both reeling from the kiss. Heads began to spin and incoherentness began to set in. Willow shook her head and closed her eyes for a second. Opening them again, she refocused her attention on the blue eyes in front of her.

Willow: Are you sure you want this?

Tara: Would I be doing this if I didn’t?

Willow smiled.

Willow: You’re not stuttering….

Tara: I’m not nervous.

And their lips met again in another passion filled kiss. All the feelings that had been building up in the both of them began to flow freely and it was a little overwhelming for both girls.

Willow couldn’t believe this was happening. She gone over the different scenarios in her head a million times, but had never expected it to happen like this. She’d never expected it to happen at all. But here she was, kissing Tara, and the dream defiantly didn’t come close to the real thing.
